Theresa Joyce Zeh
Theresa Joyce Bartlett Zeh, 81, of 310 Old Bridge Lane, Danbury, occurred at Heritage Heights Care Center on Saturday morning.
Born in the Bronx, N.Y., Nov. 2, 1918, daughter of John and Catherine Finnegan Joyce, she attended Bronx schools and had lived there before moving to Danbury in 1959.
She had been employed in health care as a nurses aid and her later years were devoted to her home and family.
Mrs. Zeh was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Danbury.
She is survived by four sons, Joseph P. Zeh of New Fairfield, James R. Zeh and Thomas F. Zeh, both of Danbury, and Brian S Zeh of Cape Coral, Fla.; three daughters, Catherine J. Burgess of Jensen Beach, Fla., Margaret Burgess of Cromwell, and Valerie E. Attanasio of Middlebury; two brothers, Raymond Joyce of Stony Point, N.Y., and James Joyce of Maryland; a sister, Evelyn Joyce of Cape Coral; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Kevin, a brother, Thomas Joyce, and two great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury.
Eleanor H. Lyon
Bethel conservationist and floral artist Eleanor H. Lyon, 83, died at her Bethel home on Dec. 10, 1999. She was the wife of Seabury Lyon Jr., who died in 1991.
She was born Eleanor Eslia Heyden on May 23, 1916, in Bridgeport and later moved with her family to Fairfield in 1959.
Eleanor and her husband were active members of the Greenfield Hill Grange for several decades. After moving to Bethel, they helped found and assisted the Bethel Land Trust and Bethel Garden Club during the 60s and 70s.
She was well known in Southern Connecticut for her elegant, organic style of floral arrangements and wedding flower designs until her retirement in the early 1980s.
Eleanor and her husband were also active in the formation of the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Northern Fairfield County. Both taught and inspired their community throughout their lives.
She is survived by four children, Seabury Lyon III of Beacon, N.Y., William Lyon of Easton, David Lyon of West Redding, and Jane Lyon of Bethel; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Celebration of her life will take place Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000 from 2 to 3 p.m. at the U.U. Society Meeting Hall, 9 Picketts Ridge, West Redding. An informal gathering will be held afterwards.

Joseph Cristino
Joseph Cristino, 84, of Bridgeport, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 1999, at St. Vincent Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Raffaela "Fran" Mucherino Cristino.
He was born on July 11, 1915, son of the late Alfredo and Lucia Ferrara Cristino.
A lifelong Bridgeport resident, he was a longtime member of the North End Boys Club Father's Club where he coached little league baseball.
Before his retirement, he had worked for 39 years as a machinist at Apex Tool and retired from Bridgeport Machines after six years of employment.
He was an original member of the St. Raphael's Golden Buccaneers Drum Corps Auxiliary, and a member of the Bridgeport PAL Band Quartermaster Corps.
Besides his wife of 57 years, he is survived by two sons, Joseph A. Cristino and his wife Lois of Redding, and Al Cristino and his wife Maureen of Shelton; five sisters, Rose Sportini, Edith Roviello, Antoinette Cristino, Jennie Cristino, Lillian Cararra and her husband Anthony, all of Stratford. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jay Parisi, Joseph A. Cristino Jr., Melissa Bang, Jason, Natalie, Nicole, Jody, Kayci and Carl Cristino; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will take place Monday at 8 a.m. from the Spadaccino Funeral Home, 499 Washington Ave., Bridgeport. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9 a.m. at St. Margaret's Shrine. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Friends may call today from 3 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Rose B. Dingee
Rose (Bongar) Dingee, 88, of 416 Colt Way, Farmington, formerly of Danbury, died on Tuesday, December 14, 1999, at the University of Connecticut Medical Center, Farmington.
Mrs. Dingee was the wife of the late Arthur J. Dingee.
Mrs. Dingee was born in Danbury, November 16, 1911, a daughter of the late Irving and Etta Bongar. She attended Danbury schools and graduated from Danbury High School. Mrs. Dingee was a secretary for the former Chisholm Publishing Company.
Mrs. Dingee is survived by her son, Arthur I. Dingee and his wife, Adele; three grandchildren, Thomas Dingee, Lori Dingee and Theresa Reed and her husband, Kris; five great grandchildren, Lisa Legros, Amanda Legros, Jordin Reed, Nicholas Dingee, Briana Eason; and a son-in-law, Louis Feduzi.
Mrs. Dingee was predeceased by her daughter, Helen Feduzi and grandson, Danny Dingee.
A graveside funeral service will take place at a time to be announced.

Elizabeth Conklin Wall
Elizabeth Conklin Wall, 48, of 20 Polaris Drive, New Milford, wife of James W. Wall, died Saturday at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven.
Mrs. Wall was born in Yonkers, N.Y. May 13, 1951, a daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Bennett Conklin. She moved to New Milford from Yonkers, N.Y. in 1976.
She had been employed as a teacher's aide at Schaghticoke Middle School in New Milford. She was an active parishioner of Our Lady of the Lakes Church, New Milford.
Besides her husband, she is survived by 2 sons, James Wall and Matthew Wall and one daughter, Sarah Wall, all of New Milford; two brothers, William Herzog of North Haven and Edward Herzog of Mohegan Lake, N.Y.
Funeral services Wednesday 4 p.m. at Our Lady of the Lakes Church, New Milford with a Mass of Christian Burial.
Interment in St. Francis Cemetery, New Milford.

William Q. Sanford
William Q. Sanford, age 87, of Southbury, formerly of Danbury, died on Sunday morning at the Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of Elvira (Ives) Sanford.
Mr. Sanford was born in Danbury, July 17, 1912, a son of the late Seth Field and Lena (Quien) Sanford. A graduate of Danbury schools, Mr. Sanford in his earlier years assisted his uncle, Dr. William T. Bronson, in property development in the Danbury area around Candlewood Lake. He was employed by the Barden Corporation as a Quality Control Supervisor, retiring after 30 years of service. Upon his retirement, Mr. Sanford became employed as a real estate agent with Candlewood Realty for 10 years.
A lifelong resident of Danbury until moving to Southbury 10 years ago, Mr. Sanford was a member of the 1st Congregational Church of Danbury, serving there in various capacities, and was active in the Boy Scout Troop #22 in Danbury for many years.
In addition to his wife of 63 years, Mr. Sanford is survived by two sons, David I. Sanford of Danbury and Tad Sanford of Redding; one daughter, Sally D'Amato of Norwalk; one brother, Seth Sanford of Danbury; one sister, Marian Boughton of Southbury; six grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Sanford was predeceased by his daughter, Mary Ives Sanford.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 22nd, at the Hull Home, Sixty Division St., Danbury, at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Clare Ingham, officiating. Burial will be in the Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

Oliver N. McLeod
Oliver N. McLeod, 89, of 28 Cannon Drive, Danbury, died Saturday, December 18, 1999 at the Harborside Glen Hill Healthcare Center. He was the husband of the late Elsie (Stirk) McLeod.
Born in Waterbury December 18, 1910, he was the son of the late Charles and Carmilia (Senegal) McLeod. He attended Harding High School in Bridgeport.
Mr. McLeod served in the US Army during World War II and was held in a Prisoner of War Camp in Germany.
Mr. McLeod was an employee of the former Marsh Dairy of Fairfield prior to his retirement. Before moving to Danbury, he was a longtime resident of Stratford and Easton. While living in Easton, he also served as an Auxiliary Police Officer.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Janet McLeod of Danbury; a sister, Lillian Ring of Milford and his grandsons, Rick and Clinton McLeod and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Edward the Confessor Church, New Fairfield, on Tuesday at 12 noon.
Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
There will be no calling hours.

John Martiska
John Martiska, 71, died Saturday, December 18, at his home in New Milford.
A resident of New Milford for 45 years, Mr. Martiska was the husband of Virginia (Bak) Martiska.
He was born in Derby on February 10, 1928, the only son of Elias (Alec) Martiska and Anna Magera Martiska. He was a 1945 graduate of Ansonia High School. He graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in education from Providence College and a master's degree from Fairfield University. He was a sergeant in the United States Air Force.
His first and only job was at Canterbury School in New Milford, where he started his teaching career in 1954. He taught English for 17 years and Theology for 15 years. He also served as the school's Business Manager, and at the time of his death as Director of School Services. The students affectionately nicknamed him "Rock".
He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church, where he was a Eucharistic Minister and Lector. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, where he also served as Grand Knight for several years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Tuesday night card playing club that has been playing together for 40 years.
At Canterbury, he will be remembered for how he liked to dress to attract attention. He always wore mismatched colorful socks, bow ties, Nehru jackets and unusual pants, including his infamous Budweiser pants.
Besides his wife, Mr. Martiska is survived by two sons, Thomas J. Martiska of Boylston, Massachusetts and Gregory P. Martiska of Pearl, Mississippi; two daughters, Joanna M. Woodworth of North Andover, Massachusetts and Laura A. Martiska of New Milford; two grandchildren, Alec and Abby; two sisters, Olga Zachariewicz of Cheshire and Josephine Cyrul of Ansonia. He was the brother of the late Stephanie Koncevich. He also leaves four nieces and three nephews.

Jacqueline Woodhouse O'Hern
Jacqueline W. O'Hern, 77, wife of John E. O'Hern of Topstone Drive, Danbury, a retired teacher in the Bethel Public School System, died December 18, 1999 at Danbury Hospital. She was born in Denver, Colorado on November 23, 1922.
A loving wife and mother of exceptional grace, Mrs. O'Hern was a Navy Veteran of World War II, recently honored at the Women in Military Service Memorial in Washington, D.C. and was a member of W.A.V.E.S. National Post #106.
After the war, she graduated from Marietta College with a degree in education. She moved to Connecticut with her husband in 1953 and earned her master's degree from Western Connecticut State College. She taught Mathematics at Bethel Middle School for over 20 years. During that time she was a homemaker of high order, raised a family and enjoyed sailing, snow skiing and riflery.
In retirement, she achieved a full certificate from the US Power Squadron, became a world traveler and indulged her passion for adventure and learning. She was an accomplished bridge player in the Danbury-New Fairfield Women's Club and a longtime member of the Candlewood Yacht Club. Mrs. O'Hern was a devout parishioner of St. James' Church in Danbury where she volunteered for many years in the Altar Guild, library and as a substitute organist. She was a talented gardener and fearless cook, a lover of music and nature.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marion Liberati and Daniel Liberati of Danbury; son John E. O'Hern III of Astoria, N.Y.; sister, Patsy Woodhouse Thomson of Bend, Oregon; and sister-in-law, Marion O'Hern Stanislaw of Syracuse, N.Y.; 5 nieces and nephews; and 8 grandnieces and grandnephews.
Relatives may call at the Tomlinson Homestead in Danbury from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 21, 1999.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 1999 at 11 a.m. at St. James' Episcopal Church in Danbury. Flowers or donations in her name to St. James' Church, 25 West Street, Danbury, CT 06810 are welcome.
Those able to attend are invited to a reception in the Parish House of St. James' following the funeral.
