May Thier Collins
May Thier Collins, 80, wife of the late Joseph F. Collins and John J. Thier, died at the Danbury Hospital on Sunday morning.
She was born in East Kilbride, Scotland, November 27, 1919, daughter of the late William and Mary "Annie" (Murdoch) Stirling. She came to the United States in 1925 and has been a Danbury resident since.
Mrs. Collins was a graduate of Danbury High School and Danbury State Teachers College. She had taught in the Danbury Public School System for many years and had also taught at local private schools. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church and the Ridgewood Country Club.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara T. Morris of San Francisco, Calif. and a son, John Jay Thier of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a sister, Dorothy S. Melvin of Lantana, Fla.; a brother, Robert Stirling of Oswego, Fla.; a stepson, Joseph F. Collins Jr. of Danbury; three stepdaughters, Marietta Janutolo of Bethel, Laura Collins of Branford and Nancy Re of Sioux City, Iowa; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husbands, she was predeceased by two brothers, James Stirling and William Stirling.
Funeral Services will be held at St. James Episcopal Church at a time to be announced. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m.

Ruth I. Mohlenhoff
Ruth I. Mohlenhoff, 89, of 2-13 Chestnut Grove, New Milford, died on January 30, 2000 at the New Milford Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Herbert J. Mohlenhoff.
Mrs. Mohlenhoff was born October 16, 1910 in New York, N.Y., a daughter of the late Frederick H. and Louise (Meyer) Ihlenburg. Earlier in her life, she was an art teacher in the New York City public school system. For many years she served in a variety of volunteer positions in the churches to which she belonged.
She had formerly lived in Lakewood, N.J. and Garden City, N.Y. before moving to New Milford in 1991.
Besides her beloved husband of 63 years, she is survived by a son, the Rev. Herbert J. Mohlenhoff Jr. and his wife, Ruth L. Mohlenhoff, both of New Preston and Louise A. Hunt and her husband, the Rev. Donald A. Hunt of Marblehead, Mass. She is also survived by two brothers, Harry M. Ihlenburg of Bradenton, Fla. and Frederick H. Ihlenburg Jr. of Tigard, Ore. She was predeceased by a sister, Alice Ihlenburg.
She also leaves six grandchildren and their spouses, John and Lynn Mohlenhoff of New Preston, Peter and Dana Mohlenhoff of Torrington, Donalynn (Hunt) and Rob Quilliam of Fairfax, Vt., Jonathan and Tonya Hunt of Ponte Vedra, Fla., Alyson (Hunt) and D. Bruce Fitzsimmons of Arlington, Mass. and Alexandra (Hunt) and Richard Soule III of Cambridge, Vt.
Mrs. Mohlenhoff is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren and by many nieces and nephews.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, New Milford.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday at 12:00 noon at Trinity Lutheran Church, 107 Kent Road, Route 7, New Milford. The Rev. Frederick J. Bunzel, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery, New Milford. Prior to the Service, the family will receive friends at Trinity Church after 11:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Adolph M. Weiss
Adolph Max Weiss, 70, of Hylo Drive, Danbury, died at the Danbury Hospital on Friday.
He was born in New York City, March 16, 1929, son of the late Louis and Anna (Globe) Weiss. He grew up in New York City and was a graduate of Riverside Military Academy in Georgia. After graduation he attended Cornell University and Columbia University. Mr. Weiss previously owned and operated the former Brewster Lanes and "Adolph's" Restaurant in Brewster in the 1960's and 1970's. He later owned and operated the Candlewood Inn in Brookfield until his retirement in the late 1970's. He also was an avid stock market investor.
Adolph is survived by Norma (Montesi) Smigowski and her daughter, Sharyn Panagides; a son, Leigh H. Weiss of Larchmont, N.Y.; a daughter, Lauri N. Weiss of Woodland Hills, Calif.; a sister, Selma N. Bernstein of New Rochelle, N.Y.; two grandsons, David L. Weiss and Michael B. Weiss and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service and gathering of friends will be held at the Candlewood Inn on Friday, February 4, 2000 at 11 a.m. There will be no calling hours.

Charles Stevenson
Charles Stevenson, 82, husband of Ravie McNair Stevenson, of 34 Rowan Street, Danbury, and a retired Machinist and School Crossing Guard for the City of Danbury, died Saturday at Mediplex of Danbury.
Mr. Stevenson was born in Grapeland, Mississippi, September 15, 1917, a son of the late Jim and Pearl Stevenson, and had grown up in Clarksdale, Mississippi. He moved to Danbury in 1950, and had developed a career as a machinist at the American Cyanamid Corporation which spanned over 27 years until his retirement in 1979. A congenial gentleman he made himself available to the City and in retirement served as a School Crossing Guard at North Street and Second Avenue, during a fifteen year tenure. He was a Brother in the Masonic Order, having joined the Lodge in Mississippi.
Besides his wife, Mr. Stevenson is survived by two sons, Charles W. and Rodney Stevenson of Danbury; six daughters, Debra Mourning of Waterbury, Laverne Knight of Norfolk, Va., Vivian Anderson of Greenville, N.C., and Patricia Pelletier, Annette Anderson and Charlene Anderson, all of Danbury; and sons-in-law, Luther Mourning Jr., Reid Pelletier and Donald Knight Sr.; his brother, Ellis Johnson of Memphis, Tenn.; ten grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Tomlinson Homestead, 336 Main St., Danbury, on Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. A funeral will be held at Mt. Pleasant A.M.E. Zion Church, Danbury on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mark Roderick, officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Bethel, in the springtime.

Clara M. Rippstein
Clara M. Rippstein, age 85, of Whiting, NJ, died Saturday at Logan Manor in Whiting, NJ. Born in Hoboken, NJ, she lived in Secaucus and Harrington Park before coming to Whiting in 1991.
She was employed as a secretary at AT&T in New York City for ten years until 1943.
She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Whiting and a former member of the Catholic Daughters.
Her husband, John, died in 1981.
Surviving are her daughter, Paulette Jurewicz of Newtown, CT, one brother, Francis Bruckner of Whiting, NJ and two grandsons, Adam John and Joseph Peter.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral services from "The Family Owned" Carmona-Bolen Home For Funerals, 66 Lacey Road, Whiting, NJ on Thursday at 10 a.m., followed by a Mass at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, Roman Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, NJ. Visiting Hours, Wednesday, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
Marjorie Ellingwood Pearson
Marjorie Ellingwood Pearson, 83, died Friday, June 30, 2000 in Georgetown Memorial Hospital in Georgetown, SC.
Mrs. Pearson was born in Danbury, CT on July 2, 1916, a daughter of the late Harry Hill Ellingwood and Katherine Ann Lynch Ellingwood. She grew up in Danbury and graduated from high school there. Mrs. Pearson lived in Georgetown, CT for many years prior to moving to Shallotte, NC. She moved to Georgetown, SC in March.
Surviving are her husband, C. Harry Pearson of Georgetown, SC and a brother, Leonard D. Ellingwood of Hampton, VA.
Interment will be held in CT at a later date.
The Georgetown, South Carolina Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Elizabeth M. Baker
Elizabeth "Betty" Mae Reynolds Baker, age 83, of Starrs Plain Road, Danbury, died peacefully Friday at her home after a long hard battle with lung cancer. She was the widow of John E. Baker.
Mrs. Baker was born in Brooklyn, NY, April 22, 1917, a daughter of the late Harold C. and Elsie Keeler Reynolds. After the death of her mother, she was raised by her father, Harold and her step-mother, Helen MacGregor Reynolds, living all of her life in the Bethel and Danbury area. She was a graduate of Danbury High School, class of 1934 and graduated in 1938 from Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT.
Mrs. Baker was co-owner of the former M. P. Reynolds Furniture Company in Danbury. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Danbury and was a past board President of the Danbury VNA. An avid Bridge player, she was an A.C.B.L. Life Master.
She is survived by two sons; Loren E. Fletcher and his wife Jo of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, Jeb Baker and his wife Pat of Danbury; two daughters, Joan E. Benedetto and her husband Bill of Cheshire, CT and Barbara A. Baker of Boise, ID; one sister, Margaret Nickse of Shelton, CT and four grandsons, John and Matthew Benedetto and Clinton and Kenneth Fletcher. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Harold C. Reynolds, Jr. and a sister, Winifred Fields.

Evelyn Grace Culhane
Evelyn Grace Culhane, age 88, of Putnam Lake, NY, widow of Edmond S. Culhane, Sr., died June 30,2000 at the Putnam Hospital Center, Carmel, NY after a long illness.
She was born December 31, 1911 in New York City, NY the daughter of the late Stephen and Rose (Roberts) West. Her formal education and schooling was in New York City schools and she attended St. Vincent's School of Nursing. She was a very active volunteer especially with the Putnam County Office of the Aging because of her nursing skills and legal secretarial knowledge. She has received many awards and citations from Governor Pataki, Senator Liebell and Assemblyman Stephens. She was also involved with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). As a member of the Sacred Heart Church she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society and the Sacred Heart Senior Citizens. She was also a member of the Putnam Lake Community Council. Mrs. Culhane and her family had been summer residents of Putnam Lake since 1952 and became permanent residents in 1974.
She is survived by two sons; Edmond S. Culhane, Jr. of Wakefield, RI, and Robert W. Culhane of St. Cloud, FL; one daughter, Maureen H. Zipparo of Ridgefield, CT; one sister, Virginia Grant of Long Island City, NY; six grandchildren, Edmond S. Culhane, III, Patricia L. Culhane-Gizzi, Erin S. Bowers, Michael Stephen Culhane, John Robert Culhane, and David Culhane Zipparo; five great grandchildren, Edmond S. Culhane, IV, Joshua C. Culhane, Shannon P. Gizzi, Sophia Culhane and Patrick Ryan Culhane; one niece, Rosemary Konopka; and one nephew, Eugene Grant A daughter, Evelyn R. McCarley died in 1990 and a son, Thomas J. Culhane died in 1999.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Putnam Lake NY. Interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Brewster, NY. Warren Francis Buck
Warren Francis Buck, 79, of 88 Route 7, Falls Village, Conn., died Saturday at Hartford Hospital from injuries received earlier in the day in a one-car accident on Route 7 in Sharon. He was the husband of Ruth Mason Buck.
Mr. Buck was born in New Milford October 26, 1920, a son of the late Francis S. and Emily (Bloomer) Buck. He was a graduate of New Milford High School and a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army Air Force in the Pacific Theater.
He had been employed by the Department of Transportation of the State of Connecticut for some 35 years, retiring in 1975 as a general foreman. He had lived the greater part of his life in New Milford, moving to Falls Village in 1989.
He was a former member of the New Milford Zoning Commission and presently was serving as a member of the Falls Village Tax Appeals Board. He was a member and former president of the Connecticut State Employees' Association. He had been an avid fisherman and gardener.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jonathan W. Buck and his wife Jean Ann of New Milford; one daughter, Barbara F. Wanzer and her husband Lawrence of Danbury; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St., New Milford. Interment in Center Cemetery, New Milford. Friends may call at the funeral home after 12 noon on Wednesday.

Kenneth James Kehoe
Kenneth James Kehoe, 44, of Cortlandt Manor, New York, died peacefully at his home after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was born in New York, New York on October 13, 1955, the son of the late Joseph Michael Kehoe and Sally D'Angelo Kehoe. He was raised in Yonkers, New York and graduated from Gorton High School in 1973. Ken was a self-employed electrical contractor and former member of IBEW Local 501. He was a devoted father to his children, Kenny Michael and Allison. He loved spending time watching them participate in sports.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Walsh Kehoe; his son, Kenny Michael and his daughter, Allison, all of Cortlandt Manor, New York; his mother, Sally Kehoe Hensley of Norwalk; his sisters, Patricia Riti of Hartsdale, New York and Bernadette DeRubeis of Danbury; and his brother, Robert Scott Hensley of Norwalk. He is also leaving behind 13 nieces and nephews and many close friends.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 6, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. at Church of the Holy Spirit, 1969 Crompond Rd., Cortlandt Manor. Family and friends may call at the E.O. Catherine M.Magner
Miss Catherine M. Magner, 86, of Danbury, died at Danbury Hospital Saturday, July 1, 2000.
Born in Danbury May 2, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Magner. She was a lifetime Danbury resident, a member of St. Peter Parish and a member of the Ladies' Guild.
She was a graduate of St. Peter School, Danbury High School and Danbury Teachers' College. She earned her MA and Sixth Year Professional Diploma in Administration from Fairfield University. She taught in Danbury for 45 years, first at the former Main St. School and then Broadview Junior High School, serving as Social Studies Chairperson at Rogers Park and Broadview for 8 of those years.
Miss Magner brought humor and compassion into her classroom. Both her students and colleagues knew her as a dedicated educator and fierce advocate who could enliven their day with a laugh or good story. She always maintained she was glad she had taught when teaching could be fun.
Miss Magner's survivors include her cousins, Leo Delohery, Polly Blum, Nancy Lorne and Grace Kelly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter Church Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, Wednesday morning from 9 to 10 a.m.

Felix Keane
Felix Keane, 89, formerly of South St., Danbury, died at the Glen Hill/Harborside Convalescent Home on Sunday, July 2, 2000.
He was born in Danbury, February 17, 1911, son of the late Michael and Mary (Keane) Keane. Mr. Keane was a lifetime Danbury resident and a graduate of Danbury High School. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific. He was a retired U.S. Postal worker in the Danbury Branch and retired after 38 years of service. He was a member of St. Peter Church, the Danbury Elks Club, the Danbury Old Timers Association and was an avid sportsman.
He is survived by 2 cousins, John Roche and Jean Losee, both of Danbury. Mr. Keane was predeceased by 3 sisters, Helen Keane, Gertrude Keane and Christine Keane.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter Church, Danbury on Thursday morning at 10:30. Burial will take place in St. Peter Cemetery. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
