Michelle MacNeal Jarboe
Michelle C. MacNeal Jarboe, 47, of the Big Island of Hawaii, died June 25, 2000 victim of a house fire. Born August 2, 1952 in Queens, NY her early childhood years were spent in the New York metropolitan area, followed by a move to New Milford, CT where she was graduated from high school. She was a homemaker who had worked as a professional artist model and dancer. In later years her interest and concerns evolved around social justice issues for people on the Big Island.
Funeral services were held at the All Saints Prayer Community Church followed by burial at the Waianaia Cemetery in Kohala, HI.
She is survived by the father of their children Rickylee Jarboe on the Big Island; a son, Cadet Nicolas Jarboe, USCGA in New London, CT; a daughter, Brianna Verdugo of Oahu, HI; mother, Tina R. M. Bobbitt of Hartford, CT; father, Wendell P. MacNeal III of Danbury, CT; Brother, Wendell P. MacNeal IV of Reading, CT. Also surviving are other family members of her father and mother, and spouses.
A memorial service of remembrance will be held Saturday, August 19, 2000, 1:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church in New Milford with an open invitation to all friends. Carol B. Farley
Carol B. Farley, 70, of Grand Island, NY, mother of Lisa F. Keller of Danbury, CT, died July 10, 2000 in Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
Mrs. Farley, was a retired teacher in the Niagara Falls, NY school system. She was also active in various community and church organizations.
Besides her daughter, Lisa and son-in-law, Kenneth Keller, she is survived by another daughter, Elizabeth L. Dries of Littleton, CO; three sons, Thomas C. Farley, Jr. of Angola, NY and Cristopher H. Farley and Neil B. Farley both of Springfield, MO.
A memorial service was held July 14, 2000 at St. Martin-In-The-Fields Episcopal Church, Grand Island, NY, with interment in St. Martin's Church Columbarium.

Arnold J. Schmeltz
Arnold J. Schmeltz, 84, of Old Bridge Lane, Danbury, husband of Joanne (Majewski) Schmeltz, died at the Danbury Hospital on Thursday.
He was born in Danbury, November 22, 1915, son of the late Henry and Bertha (Zang) Schmeltz. He was a lifetime resident and had attended Danbury schools. As a young man, he had worked as a hatter. Mr. Schmeltz later worked for the Bard-Parker Corp. and retired from that company in the 1980s.
Mr. Schmeltz was an avid sports fan and as a young man had played basketball in the Church League for the St. Joseph Holy Name Team. He later played in the Industrial League with the Rider Dairy, the Marketeers and finally with the Maclan Five, who won the championship for the 1940-41 season. He finished his basketball career coaching the Bard-Parker entry in the City Industrial League. Also an excellent baseball player, he played with the Maclan team in the old Twilight League and with the Rookies and Mallory Hat Co.
Mr. Schmeltz was inducted into the Danbury Old Timers Association Hall of Fame in September of 1987. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Danbury Old Timers Association.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children and their spouses: Robert A. Schmeltz and his wife Elaine of Danbury, Joseph H. Schmeltz and his wife Nancy of Pascoag, RI, and Barbara J. Bates and her husband Nick of New Milford; six grandchildren, Laura Schmeltz, Robyn Schmeltz, Jennifer Bates, Timothy Schmeltz, Jeffrey Schmeltz and Andrew Schmeltz; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, Danbury, on Monday morning at 11 a.m. Burial will take place in St. Peter Cemetery. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 5 to 8 p.m.

Phoebe C. Previdi
Phoebe C. Previdi, 89, of Pleasant St., Danbury, wife of the late Eugene A. Previdi Sr., died at the Danbury Hospital on Friday morning.
She was born in North Salem, NY, November 25, 1910, daughter of the late Daniel and Emma (Stevens) Coughlin. She moved to Danbury as a child and was a graduate of Danbury High School and received her nursing degree from the Danbury Hospital School of Nursing in 1929. She later did graduate work in obstetrics at the New York School of Nursing and was an obstetrics nurse at Danbury Hospital until her marriage in 1940. She later performed volunteer nursing for the American Red Cross blood drives.
Mrs. Previdi was a member of St. Joseph Church and a former member of the Ridgewood Country Club and the Danbury Visiting Nurse Association.
She is survived by a son, Eugene A. Previdi and his wife H. Joy, and a daughter, Marcia Izzo and her husband Paul, all of Newtown; two granddaughters, Helen A. Previdi and Melissa J. Previdi; 2 grandsons, Eugene A. Previdi III and Jeffrey W. Previdi and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Cecil J. Previdi in 1987.

Alice M. Doherty
Alice M. Doherty, age 61, of 5 Cherry Street, Sandy Hook, died Friday, July 21, 2000, at her home.
Alice was born in Yonkers, NY, October 8, 1938, a daughter of Mary (Arciolla) Tobin of Sandy Hook and the late Thomas Tobin. She came to Newtown in 1970. She made her home in Sandy Hook where she raised her three sons. Her passions included quilting, orchids, opera, and the New York Giants. She will be missed by many friends and her loving family.
Alice will be remembered by many for kindness and her wonderful sense of humor. She also loved animals and spent many years as a volunteer for Newtown Animal Welfare.
Her tenure as an employee of Newtown's school system fostered in Alice a desire to further help the children of her community. She subsequently helped found Newtown Youth Services. For the last eight years Alice was employed by the Law Firm of Cohen and Wolf in Danbury.
Alice's strength and courage will forever be an inspiration to those who knew and loved her.
In addition to her mother, survivors include 3 sons, James Doherty of Roseboom, NY, Sean Doherty of Sandy Hook and Shannon Doherty of Newtown; 1 brother, Thomas Tobin of Southhampton, NY; 1 sister, Debra Tobin Gray of Accord, NY, and 4 grandchildren.
A gathering of friends will be held Saturday July 22, 2000, (today) at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St., Newtown, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Spay and Neuter Association of Newtown, P.O. Box 352, Newtown, CT 06470.
Antonio Perrone
The death of Antonio Perrone, 98, of Falmouth Court, Brookfield, husband of Marina Lovarco Perrone, occurred at Laurelwood Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center, Ridgefield, Friday morning, July 21, 2000.
Born in the Bronx, N.Y., October 30, 1901, he was a son of the late Calogero and Marianna Arnone Perrone. In 1905, his family moved back to Sciora, Italy, where Mr. Perrone attended school and later married in 1932. He moved back to New York with his family in 1965 and in 1994 moved to Brookfield.
He had been employed as a Porter at Jacoby Hospital in New York City for 20 years, retiring in 1974.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Brookfield.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Calogero Perrone of Brookfield; 2 daughters, Marianna Gevaci of Southport and Maria Savona of Ellington; 8 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church, Brookfield, Monday morning at 10:00.
Entombment will be in the Shrine of Memories Mausoleum, Ferncliff Cemetery, Hartsdale, N.Y.

Harold L. Cauxx Jr.
The death of Harold L. Cauxx Jr. of 3B East Pembroke Rd., Danbury, husband of Jo-Ann Woodard Cauxx, occurred at the Danbury Hospital Thursday morning. He was 53 years of age.
Born in Danbury, February 14, 1947, son of the late Harold L. Sr. and Charlotte A. Davis Cauxx, he moved to Norwalk and attended Norwalk schools. He later returned to Danbury and had lived here for the past 40 years.
Mr. Cauxx was a manager of Gasland Service Stations for 10 years and had worked prior at the Danbury Bowlarama.
On Tuesday evenings he attended the Classic Car Cruises.
Besides his wife, he is survived by 2 sisters, Grace C. Genest of Bethel and Charold G. Sullivan of Stamford; his sister-in-law, Barbara J. Walters of Danbury, and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Barbara Cauxx.
Funeral services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St. Sunday evening at 8:00 with the Rev. David W. Reinhardt, pastor of the Danbury Baptist Church, officiating.
Graveside services will be held Monday at St. Mary's Cemetery, Bethel, at 2:00 p.m.
Friends may call at the Cornell Memorial Home Sunday evening from 6:00 to 9:00.
Mary T. Minton
Mary T. Minton of 10 Francis Road, Danbury, CT, died at Danbury Hospital on Friday, July 21, 2000. She was the wife of the late Joseph A. Minton. She was born in Youngstown, Ohio, December 8, 1925 the daughter of the late Daniel and Annie t. (Ginty) Helley.
A retired registered nurse, she was a graduate of St. Peter's School, Danbury High School and St. Vincent's Hospital School of Nursing, Bridgeport, CT.
She is survived by two sons, Lt. Comdr. J. Thomas Minton, USN of Waldorf, MD, currently stationed in Japan and Steven J. Minton of Plantsville, CT; a daughter, Mary Ellen Dimyan of Danbury; three sisters, Margaret A. Lamson, Florence R. Helley and Josephine F. Helley all of Danbury; and six grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter Church, Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place at the State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown, CT at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury is in charge of arrangements.

William J. Moran
William J. Moran, 50, husband of Donna (Palanzo) Moran of 1239 Cricket Drive N.E., Palm Bay, Florida, formerly of Danbury, died in Florida on Friday, July 21, 2000 as a result of injuries sustained in an auto accident.
He was born in Danbury, March 30, 1950, son of Elizabeth (Glorioso) Moran of Melbourne, FL and the late William J. Moran. He grew up in Danbury and was a graduate of Henry Abbot Technical School. He had worked as an electrician both in Connecticut and in Florida. He had been a Florida resident since 1996.
In addition to his wife and his mother, he is survived by two sons, Timothy J. Moran of Palm Bay and Jonathon Moran of Bethel, CT; two daughters, Dominica Moran of Danbury and Elizabeth Sanders of Palm Bay; a sister, Beth Patton of Palm Bay and 4 grandchildren.

Virginia Richard Mabry
Virginia Richard Mabry of Manchester, Vermont, died at the Southern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, Vermont on Monday, July 24, 2000. She had most recently resided in West Sandgate, Vermont. She was the wife of the late Walter H. Richard. She was also predeceased by her husband James Mabry.
She was born on January 21, 1915 in Goshen, Connecticut, the daughter of the late Henry and Irene (Snyder) Perret. Upon the death of her mother when Mrs. Mabry was two, she was raised by her paternal grandparents, Henri and Rosalie Perret.
She was a graduate of Litchfield High School. She was a chief inspector at Barden Corporation, Danbury, Connecticut for several years and was later employed in medical records at Danbury Hospital, also in Danbury, Connecticut.
Virginia was known for her zest for life and her love of family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, traveling and reading. She also did volunteer work at the Martha Canfield Library in Arlington, Vermont.
She is survived by two sons, Walter H. Richard and Raymond A. Richard of Bethel, Connecticut; a daughter, Irene Richard Martin of West Sandgate, Vermont; a companion, Winthrop Loomis of Manchester, Vermont; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Karen E. "KEM" Miller Moreno
The death of Karen E. "KEM" Miller Moreno, of Spring St., Naugatuck, Conn., formerly of Bridgeport and Danbury, occurred at her home Saturday morning. She was 62 years of age.
Born in Danbury, June 3, 1938, daughter of the late Lester and Katherine Hanson Miller, she attended Danbury schools. Mrs. Miller made her home in Bridgeport for the past 35 years.
She had been employed as Manager of the Good Times Cafe in Bridgeport for many years until illness forced her to retire.
Karen is survived by a sister, Barbara Cher of Port Orange, Fla.; three brothers, Richard Miller of Fairborn, Ohio, Donald Miller of Jackson Heights, N.Y. and Lester Miller of Danbury; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury, Thursday evening at 7:30.
Burial will be in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury at the convenience of the family.
