Theodore H. Lehrman

Theodore H. Lehrman, a Greenwich resident, passed away on Dec. 1, 2010.

He was a man who was passionate about music, film, and theater, and dedicated himself to the careers of aspiring actors, his family said. Early in life he co-wrote songs such as "No Man is an Island, " and was the lyricist for the Soupy Sales albums.

Lehrman is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara; two children, Woody and Laurie; and five grandchildren.

Services were held on Dec. 5 at the Riverside Memorial Chapel in New York City. Donations honoring his memory can be made to The Actors Equity Foundation, 165 West 46th St., NY, NY 10036.

John Ellis Lynn

John Ellis Lynn, former comptroller at Esso/Exxon Corporation and a volunteer in the Greenwich community for more than 30 years, peacefully passed away on December 11, 2009.

Lynn was born in Lincoln, Neb. on April 30, 1928. He served in the U.S. Army, was a graduate of Kansas University and obtained his MBA at Harvard University.

Lynn was employed by Esso/Exxon for more than 25 years. During his time at Esso/Exxon he rose to the position of comptroller. His projects included the development and placement of Dataflex spreadsheet software for use in Esso offices and sites worldwide.

Lynn was a volunteer receptionist at The Greenwich Adult Day Care Center in 1987 and helped it progress from a typewriter to a computer-based office. He also served on the board of directors from 1988-96; as vice president from 1990-92 and as treasurer.

During the time he was an officer, GADC completed two renovation projects at Nathaniel Witherell Nursing Home, not only improving the facility but also increasing the number of clients it could serve each day.

Lynn was at GADC almost every day, his family said, and in addition to serving as an officer did all the hands-on bookkeeping.

He was also a founding board member and three-term president of The Transportation Association of Greenwich (TAG). There he oversaw the creation and growth of TAG from a small service under the auspices of the Greenwich Red Cross to the now independent, not-for-profit 19-vehicle service of today.

In addition, Lynn served as treasurer for the Greenwich Chaplaincy Service from 1993-2003.

A quiet man, Lynn loved history and traveling the world, his family said. He appreciated the finer things in life and always had a good story to share.

He is survived by his eldest daughter, Greta Lynn Yankiver of Portland Maine and son-in-law Burt; a grandson, Bradford Lynn Yankiver and his wife Heidi of Jersey City, N.J.; his youngest daughter, Catherine Lynn of Weymouth, Mass. and his granddaughter, Elise Lynn Otero of Boston, Mass.
