Eugene Conway
Eugene "Gene" Conway, 82, lifelong Greenwich resident, died at his home on Jan. 11, 2010. He was the son of Gertrude and Howard Conway.
Conway worked for more than 20 years for E.W. Widener Boat Company as a builder of wooden sailboats. He also was employed for another 20 years at Carlton Gisborne Builders as a residential carpenter.
Throughout his life, Conway enjoyed spending time at Byram Shore. He loved sailing and fishing, and built a number of his own boats.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Byram Shore Boat Club.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Corinne; two daughters, Claudia McQueeney and her husband, Jim and Patty Gawle and her husband, Chip; and his daughter-in-law, Michel Conway.
Conway is also survived by his five grandchildren, Ben and Sarah Gawle and Dan, Pat, and Brendan McQueeney. His son, Bob predeceased him.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Rye Brook, N.Y.

Ethelmary McDonnell Durnin
Ethelmary Durnin passed away on Nov. 26, 2009 at her home in San Francisco, Calif. after a stroke.
Durnin was born in New York on Aug. 2, 1925 to Daniel and Ethel McDonnell and was a graduate of St. Louis Academy and St. Johns University.
She was married
to Kevin Durnin for 52 years, until his death in 2007. The couple lived in Old Greenwich for many years before moving to San Francisco in 2002 to be with their son and grandchildren.
A gifted soprano, Durnin sang with the St. Catherine of Siena Church choir for many years along with the Greenwich Choral Society. She was also a devoted gardener, home re-modeler and avid traveler.
Durnin is survived by her two sons, Dermot and Desmond; her daughter-in-law, Charlotte; and two grandchildren, Maureen and Sean, all of San Francisco. She is also survived by her brother, Dan McDonnell of Plainfield, N.J. and several additional relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her two sisters, Sheila and Jeannette, and a son, Kevin.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Riverside tomorrow at 11 a.m.
Patricia B. Ensor
Patricia "Patti" Bobrow Ensor, 48, Greenwich native, died on Jan. 8, 2010 at home in East Haven.
She was born on Sept. 13, 1961, attended Greenwich schools and graduated magna cum laude from St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y. with a bachelor of science degree in environmental studies and government.
Ensor will be remembered as a very caring and outgoing person who especially loved to sail her boat "Fearless."
She is survived by her husband, Shaun Ensor of East Haven; her mother, Joan Whyte Bobrow of Greenwich and her father, Dr. Joseph S. Bobrow of Pa. She also leaves three sisters: Debra Keefe and Christine Greenberg, both of Brookfield, and Jacqueline D'Ascoli of Cos Cob; her dogs, Jodi, Tuffee, Tingo and Finn; and her cat, Molly.
A Mass of Christian burial was held on Jan. 13 at St. Vincent de Paul Church in East Haven.

Robert W. Hutton
Robert W. Hutton, 88, World War II veteran, former Greenwich resident and business executive, died peacefully at home in Seattle, Wash. on Jan. 5, 2010.
He was born in Olympia, Wash. on April 28, 1921 to George and Elsie Doragh Hutton and grew up in Olympia and Vancouver, Canada.
He graduated from Vancouver High School and the University of Washington, where he was a member of Chi Psi fraternity, the senior manager of the crew, a member of Oval Club and Fir Tree, and a student of law and business.
After serving as a captain in the U.S. Army during World War II, Hutton attended the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he received an MBA degree in 1948.
Following graduate school, Hutton worked for three years at the Seattle First National Bank, then founded Bellingham Builders Supply in Bellingham, Wash. He also joined Lone Star Industries, at that time the largest producer of cement in the United States, in 1965 and became its CEO in 1972.
He served as a director of the American Mining Congress, as president of the Portland Cement Association, and was an active leader in the industry throughout the world.
Hutton and his wife Charlotte were Greenwich residents for 25 years.
An avid sailor, Hutton campaigned a series of ocean racing sailboats called "Tatoosh, " with national and international success. A highlight of his life was his selection to represent the U.S. in 1980 at the Sardinia Cup, considered at the time to be a World Championship of ocean racing. "Tatoosh" finished in second place overall, and led the U.S. team to victory.
In addition to his wife, Hutton is survived by a Ann Hutton of Friday Harbor, Wash.; her children, Meghan and Brianna; and a son, Tom Hutton and his wife, Wende of Atherton, Calif., and their children, Cameron and Rachel.
A memorial service will be held tomorrow at Epiphany Parish in Seattle at 1 p.m., followed by a reception at The Seattle Yacht Club.

Barbara Smith Keller
Barbara "Bobbie" Joan Smith Keller, 75, Greenwich native of Summerfield, Fla. died peacefully on Dec. 29, 2009.
She was born on Jan. 8, 1934 in Greenwich to Edward and Carolyn Bridge Smith and graduated from Greenwich High School in 1953.
Keller worked in banking as well as accounting for several small businesses. She enjoyed gardening and bowling.
She is survived by her husband, Boyd Keller, of Summerfield; her children: Wayne McKeever of Groveland, Fla.; Cindy Johnson and her husband Brad of Boulder, Colo. and John McKeever of Ft. Lauderdale Fla; a son-in-law, Delmar Achuff; and four grandchildren: Jenee and Michael Wright of Boulder, Colo; Christian McKeever of Dickson, Tenn.; and Kerry McKeever of Tampa, Fla.
She was predeceased by her brother, Edward Smith of Greenwich and a sister, Marilyn Danks of Florida.

James Robert Kingsdale
James Robert Kingsdale, 66, U.S. Army veteran and former Greenwich resident of Crested Butte, Colo., died on Dec. 22, 2009 after a brief battle with cancer at his home surrounded by family.
Kingsdale was born on May 18, 1943 and grew up in Newton, Mass. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1965 and Harvard Business School in 1969 after serving in the U.S. Army.
He worked in venture capital until 1975, then started Paradigm Communications Inc., a cable television company, in 1980. He retired from the cable television industry in 1994, and eventually settled in Crested Butte, Colo.
Kingsdale spent the last several years writing a blog called Energy Investment Strategies and received much joy and praise for his commentary.
He also loved traveling with his family and friends and when he wasn't enjoying the lifestyle of Crested Butte, he was often exploring new places and meeting new people.
He was an avid tennis player, hiker, skier and bridge player who was only a few points away from becoming a life master.
He is survived by his wife, Nina Kingsdale; a daughter, Luisa Naughton, her husband, Eric and their two children, Maxwell James and Cecilia Nina of Crested Butte, Colo.; a son, Andrew Kingsdale of San Francisco; his mother, Margery Frank Kingsdale of Newton, Mass.; a sister, Nancie Schwarzman and her husband, Mark of Greenwich; and a brother, Jon Kingsdale and his wife, Rosalie Phillips of Boston.
A memorial service was held on Dec. 27, 2009 at Greenwich Reform Synagogue. A celebration of Kingsdale's life will be held on Feb. 13, 2010 in Crested Butte, Colo.
