Concetta "Connie" Gambino
Concetta "Connie" Gambino, 97, wife of the late Carmine Gambino, died peacefully at Greenwich Hospital on Nov. 16, 2010.
Gambino was born on Feb. 11, 1913 in Salem, Mass., daughter of Sebastiano and Salvatresa Buccheri, and was a former resident of Greenwich, Stamford, Darien and Norwalk.
Gambino loved taking long walks at the beach with her husband, dancing and listening to music, her family said. She also enjoyed her work as a seamstress, loved reading, cooking, sewing and taking care of her family.
She is survived by a son, Leonard Gambino of Milford; two daughters, Jennie Vagnone and her husband Ralph of Norwalk and Josephine "Josie" Creigh of Greenwich; a sister, Jennie Gambino of Stamford; nine grandsons, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Tessie Gallo and Lucy DiDia, and a brother, Dr. Paul Buccheri.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Nov. 19 at St. Mary Church in Norwalk and burial followed at Lakeview cemetery in New Canaan.

Grace Godino
Grace Godino, 88, a former Cos Cob resident of Stamford, passed away peacefully in Greenwich Hospital on Nov. 4, 2010 after a short illness.
She was born on September 2, 1922 in Munson, Mass., to Gaetano and Mary Cheries Piscitelli. She was married
for 51 years to the late Angelo Godino and lived most of that time in Cos Cob.
Godino worked as a seamstress for many years at House of Kunel in Stamford and also as a waitress with Nielsen's in Riverside and Joe's Cest Bon Restaurant in Greenwich. She was a member of the Greenwich and Stamford East Congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses.
She will be remembered for not only her strong faith in the Bible's promises, but also for her warmth, humility, and many unselfish acts of kindness, her family said.
She was a loving caregiver for many years to her ailing husband and also to her two older sisters. She is survived by two sons, Joel Godino of Georgia and Michael Godino of Cos Cob, one sister, Esther Marlitz of Buena, NJ, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband Angelo, Godino was predeceased by her brothers Joseph and Frank Piscitelli, and sisters Margherita and Anna Piscitelli, all of Stamford.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010 at 1 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 891 Newfield Avenue, in Stamford.

Betty D. Wood Krupicka
Betty D. Wood Krupicka, Old Greenwich native and a longtime resident of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Nov. 17, 2010.
Born in 1922, Krupicka was the daughter of John and Margaret Wood. She attended Mills College until 1943, when she became a wartime bride of Frank Krupicka.
Krupicka was the bookkeeper for her husband's business in Stamford.
She and her husband resided in Old Greenwich until their early retirement in 1980 to Port Charlotte, Fla., where they continued to pursue their interest in boating.
Because of her love of people, her family said, Krupicka remained an active member of the Floridians, a social organization in Port Charlotte, for more than 20 years and made many dear friends.
She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Frank Edward Krupicka; a daughter, Peggy and her husband Dick Hogarth of Deep Creek, Fla.; and son, Jack and his wife Julie Krupicka of Wilmington, N.C. She also leaves her two grandchildren, Rob Highsmith and Laura Dear Highsmith Jimenez; and a great-granddaughter, Jade Jimenez.
The family wishes to thank Jane DeBoer, Krupicka's home caregiver for the past year, as well as TideWell Hospice, for their kindness and support.
At Krupicka's request, no services were held, but the family asks that her friends and acquaintances keep her memory in their hearts.

Joan Lewis
Joan Lewis, a Greenwich native, died on Nov. 16, 2010.
Lewis was the daughter of the late George and Lois Robinson. She was an avid lover of all animals, especially dogs and birds, her family said.
She also loved gardens and nature and was a great supporter of animal welfare and protection of wild animals and forests.
She had a wide range of knowledge of antiques and was an active antique dealer with her late husband, DeWitt C. Lewis.
Lewis is survived by her sister, Joyce H. Grosso and her husband, Bob of Riverside, as well as a niece, two nephews and several great-nieces and nephews.
Hellmut C. Bauer
Hellmut C. Bauer, 74, retired vice president of global trade at JPMorgan Chase Bank, and former resident of Greenwich most recently of Roswell, Ga., passed away on July 7, 2010. During his 37 years with the bank, he provided services in the Defense, Aerospace and Telecommunications Industries. After retirement, he consulted for various bank and industrial clients in trade finance.
He is survived by his wife, Marcy; a son, Thomas and his wife, Kim; two grandchildren; and an extended family in the U.S. and Germany.
William L. Bergeron
William L. Bergeron, 84, World War II veteran, longtime teacher and coach at St. Mary High School and a founder of the Greenwich Babe Ruth League, passed away on July 13, 2010 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was a lifelong resident of Greenwich.
He was born in New Canaan on Nov. 22, 1925 to Louis and Helen Smith Bergeron.
Bergeron was an outstanding athlete at Greenwich High School, lettering in football, basketball and baseball.
After high school, he joined the U.S. Marines near the end of World War II. He went on to attend Duke University, where he played football and baseball and was the captain of the baseball team in 1951, his senior year, when Duke was the Southern Conference Champion.
After college, Bergeron played in the Philadelphia Athletics' farm system and was a player/manager for several teams in the Carolina League.
Bergeron was a long time history teacher, football coach and baseball coach at St. Mary High School in Greenwich. He taught countless numbers of young men and women and was very dedicated to his students and teams at St. Mary's, and won more than 100 football games and more than 300 baseball games while coaching at St. Mary's.
He mentored many young men while working at the YMCA and the Dom Bosco Center in Port Chester, N.Y.
Bergeron was honored in 1981 by the Greenwich Old Timers Association and was recently honored by the association this past May as one of "50 People Who Have Made A Difference."
Bergeron was also a knowledgeable wine connoisseur who worked for years at Val's Wine Shop and made many trips to the California wine country, where he made wonderful friends of some of the local wine makers.
He will be remembered as a humble and dignified man who dealt with life on his own terms.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; a daughter, Betsy and his "other daughter, " Kim Malara. He also leaves his sister, Ruth Mahoney and her two children Eileen Griffin and Jeff Mahoney; his sisters-in-law Lillian Costaregni and her husband George, Gloria Hopper and Aurie Tupper and her husband Paul; and more than fifty nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his three nieces: Lori Mahoney, Joy Hirschhorn and Marilyn Santore; a brother-in-law, Gene Mahoney and five sisters-in-law: Min Bruno, Carmela Andrea, Evelyn Rousseau, Helen Finocchio and Yolanda Telerico.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on July 17 at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Greenwich.
