Francois-Michel Messud
Francois-Michel Messud, 79, died on July 19, 2010 in Greenwich.
Born in Toulon, France, Messud grew up in Beirut, Salonica, and Algiers, and came to America to study at Amherst Collge on a Fulbright scholarship in 1952.
He received a master's degree from the Harvard Center for Middle Eastern Studies in 1961 and an MBA from the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Geneva in 1963.
He worked for many years for Pechiney Corporation, was president of Pechiney World Trade at the time of his retirement.
Messud was a lifelong scholar, passionate traveler who was devoted to his family.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret; a sister, Denise of Toulon; his two daughters, Elizabeth of Paris and Claire of Cambridge, Mass; his sons-in-law, Vassili Efimov and James Wood; and his four beloved grandchildren.
Angelina Petrizzi
Angelina Petrizzi, 88, of Riverside passed away on July 15, 2010.
She was born in Rose Cosenza, Italy on April 3, 1922 to Frank and Rosaria D'Aquella Ceci.
Petrizzi was an active member of the Greenwich Senior Center and the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) #2549, and loved to participate in all of its trips.
She loved the Yankees, Bingo, gardening and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and sister.
Petrizzi is survived by her daughter, Dolores Garbarini and her husband Rick; and her two grandchildren, Gregory and Lori Ann Garbarini.
She was predeceased by her husband, Michael J. Petrizzi;her brothers, Anthony Ceci, Sr. and Joseph Ceci, Sr.; and her three sisters: Helen Vadala, Josephine Belmont and Asontina Ceci.
A Mass of Christian burial was held on July 19 at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Riverside. Interment followed in St. Mary cemetery in Greenwich.
Georgeann Rothermel
Georgeann Rothermel, 77, a longtime resident of Stamford and Old Greenwich, passed away suddenly at her home on July 15, 2010.
She was born in New Haven on Feb. 6, 1933 to Valdemar and Mildred McGuigan Nygard. Rothermel attended Bryant College in Providence, R.I., where she met her husband, Ray. The couple resided in Forest Hills, Queens, Riverhead, N.Y. and Milford before settling in Stamford to raise their three children.
Rothermel was a longtime dental assistant and office manager at several practices in Old Greenwich and was a Eucharistic Minister for many years at St. Leo Parish in Stamford, where she had also been an art teacher and religion instructor.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ray Marlin Rothermel, Sr.; her two daughters, Valerie Anne Rothermel of Atlanta, Ga. and Marlynne Mary Mawn and her husband, Lars, of Cranbury, N.J.; a son, Ray Marlin Rothermel, Jr. and his wife, Kathy, of Chevy Chase, Maryland; and nine grandchildren: Melanie, Kristina, Dan, Laura, Russell, Emily, Cliff, Caroline and Erik. She was predeceased by newborn son Wayne; a sister, Valerie Nygard; and her stepmother, Helen Mathews Nygard.
A Mass of Christian burial took place on July 19, followed by burial at St. Agnes cemetery in Branford.

Anthony Russo
Anthony Russo, 83, a long time Cos Cob resident, died on July 7, 2010. He was the son of the late George and Gilda Russo.
Russo is survived by his two daughters, Jill Foster and Michele Sperber, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Julia Penserini Russo.
A memorial service was held at Castiglione Funeral Home on July 24.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Greenwich Old Timers Society or the St. Lawrence Club.
John Anthony Sanna Jr.
John Anthony Sanna Jr., 85, a World War II veteran and Greenwich native, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 18, 2010 at Greenwich Hospital following a brief illness.
Sanna was born on Nov. 15, 1924. He graduated from Greenwich High School in 1943, then joined the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served in the 5th Marine Division in the Pacific Theater toward the end of World War II.
After receiving an honorable discharge from the Marine Corps in 1946, Sanna obtained his bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Bridgeport.
His business career included being comptroller of Aerotech Industries, Inc. in Greenwich, vice president/treasurer and director of Dunlap and Associates and its subsidiary Reflectone, Inc. in Stamford, and vice president for Haskon Corporation in Taunton, Mass.
After retiring from the corporate world, Sanna maintained a self-employed tax and accounting practice in Greenwich.
He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Accountants and a member of the Connecticut Society of CPAs.
Sanna was also an honorary member of the Greenwich Lions Club for 55 years, and served in every office more than once, including president. In April 2000 the Greenwich Lions Club honored him as a life member.
He was also a member of the Marine Corps League, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, Greenwich Harpoon Club and the Mianus River Boat & Yacht Club.
Sanna was an avid golfer and a member of Tamarack Country Club for 40 years, where he served on the board of directors and was treasurer.
He also served as chairman of the Greenwich Recreation Board and the Selectman Committee, and combined the Parks and Recreation Boards into one.
Sanna was instrumental in the establishment of Youth Pop Warner Football League in town, which still is running today.
He served for 20 years as chairman of the Greenwich Board of Tax Review. He was a member of the Representative Town Meeting as well as Republican Town Committee.
He is survived by his wife Cheryl; a son, John A. Sanna, III and his wife Polly Weintz Sanna of Cos Cob; and his two daughters, Lynn Sanna Stoner of Trumbull and Nancy Sanna Kralovenec and her husband Thomas of Cos Cob.
He is also survived by his seven grandchildren: Jill Kralovenec, Casey Stoner, Thomas Kralovenec, Jr., Taylor Kralovenec, Kelly Stoner, Jennifer Kralovenec and Lucy Sanna; his brother, Romeo "Bud" Sanna and his wife Catherine; his nieces and nephew and his cat Casper. Sanna was predeceased by a son, Richard Francis Sanna and a sister, Julia Sanna Gatto.
A funeral Mass was held at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Riverside on July 22, followed by interment with full military honors at St. Mary cemetery in Greenwich.

IRA L. KASINDORF
Ira L. Kasindorf, 85, of Westport, died Jan. 25, 2010, at New York University Medical Center.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., a son of the late Herman and Bessie Kasindorf, he was a U. S. Army veteran who served during World War II.
Kasindorf was a member of the Weston Commission on Aging, and served on the board of the League of Women Voters in Weston.
He was predeceased by his wife, Stella Sobelman Kasindorf, in 2004.
Kasindord is survived by his sons, Barry Kasindorf of Franklin, Mass., and Mark Kasindorf of Quincy, Mass.; his sister, Anita Tolin of Barrington, Ill.; and his grandchildren, Alan and Evan.
Services took place Jan. 28 from The Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home, 88 Beach Road, Fairfield; interment followed at Beth El cemetery in Paramus, N.J.
