Joan Connolly Rapp
Joan Elizabeth Connolly Rapp, 77, a longtime Greenwich resident and wife of John Lennart Rapp, passed away in her home on Dec. 17, 2009, after a battle with cancer.
Rapp was born in New York City on Jan. 5, 1932 and was the only child of Thomas and Claire Connolly. After the death of both of her parents during her early childhood, Rapp was cared for by her aunt, Helen and older cousin, Rita McKeon.
At the age of 13, she moved to Greenwich and was raised by her maternal aunt, Elizabeth Frankel and uncle, George Frankel. She grew up with her cousins, Elizabeth, Doris, Gerry and David Frankel and attended Edgewood School in Greenwich. She graduated from Edgewood in 1950 and Beaver College in Allentown, Pa. in 1954 with a degree in Psychology with honors.
Rapp was an active member of Saint Agnes Parish and served as a Eucharistic minister for many years and also taught CCD. She was also a member of the Catholic Women's Guild and did volunteer work for Saint Mary's High School where her daughters attended school.
In 1984, Rapp became a realtor and became associated first with Simpson Peters, then William Pitt Real Estate, where she was a leading broker for several years. At the time of her death, Rapp worked with Sotheby's International Real Estate.
Rapp also did volunteer work for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, which was founded by her cousin, Doris Tulcin.
She enjoyed reading, playing tennis and swimming and traveled with her husband and family on many business trips and vacations.
Rapp will be remembered by her family, many friends and professional colleagues for her sense of humor, faith, altruism, ready smile and professionalism.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by five daughters and their families: Diane Elizabeth Rapp and her daughter, Melissa Cocchia of Riverside; Barbara Demmon and her husband, Charles and their children, Katherine, Charles and Elizabeth of Sacramento, Calif.; Jennifer Bello and her husband, Ernest and their children, Ernie, Christopher, and Emily of Greenwich; Linnette Lodato and her husband, Joseph and their children, Joey, Mark, and Matthew of Cos Cob; and Lisa Daur, her husband, Thomas and their children Phoebe, Andrew and Hunter of Riverside.
She is also survived by her two cousins, Doris Tulcin and Gerry Merksamer; five nephews: Carl, Chris, and Alex Rapp and Robert and Brian McKeon; and her brother-in-law, John Douglas Rapp and his wife, Ann Catherin.
Rapp was predeceased by her cousins Rita McKeon, Elizabeth Bock, and David Frankel.
A funeral Mass was celebrated on Dec. 21 at Saint Agnes Church in Greenwich. A memorial service will be held in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, Rapp requested donations be made to the Bendheim Center c/o The Greenwich Hospital Development Office for Oncology and Technology.
Bruce R. Reynolds
Bruce R. Reynolds, 60, Vietnam War veteran, Greenwich native and lifelong resident, died on Sept. 18, 2009 at home.
He was born on Sept. 30, 1949 to Norman and Jeannette Kilboy Reynolds.
Reynolds was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam war. He was a banker in Greenwich for many years and a member of the Knight of Columbus Orinoco Council 39, the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans.
Reynolds is survived by his wife Karyn Tremblay Reynolds and three cousins, Susan Mudry, Vivian Fogg and Jeanne Fogg.
A memorial Mass was celebrated on Dec. 23 in St. Mary's Church in Greenwich.

Marjorie K. Stewart
Marjorie K. Stewart, 88, a Greenwich resident for more than 40 years, passed away peacefully on Dec. 17, 2009. She was 88 years old.
Stewart was born on Nov. 23, 1921 in Lanark, Ill. to Lulu and Frank Kampmeier, and spent her formative years on a farm in Illinois and in California. She married
George S. Stewart in 1945 and the couple moved to Greenwich in 1967.
Stewart was an active member of church life at Stanwich Congregational Church for more than 40 years. She devoted her life to nurturing her family, through hosting countless holidays, celebrations, and regular Sunday dinners at her home.
She also shared her love of nature with others through her gardening talents and flower arrangements.
Stewart leaves her son, Barry Stewart and his wife, Diane Stewart of Texas; her son, Alan Stewart and his wife, Suzanne Stewart of Connecticut; a sister, Opal DeBeeson of British Columbia;.
She is also survived by her seven grandchildren: Christa Oliver and her husband, Nimit Oliver of New York; Ellyn Stewart and her husband, Joe Bonomo of Connecticut; Emily Kallio and her husband, Nataraja Kallio of Colorado; Kathryn Wigginton and her husband, Brent Wigginton of Florida; Edward Stewart and his wife, Sandra Stewart of New York; Timothy Stewart and his wife, Becky Stewart of Texas; and Molly Stewart of Connecticut.
Also surviving her are eight great-grandchildren: Anna Oliver, Isabella, Natasha, and Camila Stewart, Lauren and Daniel Wigginton, Clara Bonomo, and Anjali Kallio. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Stewart, and her brother, Paul Kampmeier.
A memorial service was held on Dec. 22 at Stanwich Congregational Church.

Joseph W. Wells Jr.
Joseph W. "Tom" Wells Jr., 71, a founding member of Trinity Church in Greenwich and longtime member of Stanwich Congregational, died of complications from pneumonia on Dec. 17, 2009 at Greenwich Hospital.
He was born on June 21, 1938, in Bristol to Joseph W. Wells Sr. and Ruth Beach Wells. He was a graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy, Yale University, and Columbia Business School, and worked as an executive in advertising and marketing and as a management consultant.
After his retirement, Wells devoted much of his time to his church, Stanwich Congregational, and joined missionary trips to Ethiopia and West Virginia.
Wells was also a voracious reader with a wide range of interests. He sang in church choirs, local productions and the Fairfield County Chorale.
While at Stanwich, Wells took on many leadership positions including senior deacon, and founded a spiritual gifts course, which he taught at multiple churches in the area. With Gregg Burton, he developed and taught a seminar on film and faith at Alliance Theological Seminary. He was a founding member of Trinity Church in Greenwich, a daughter church of Stanwich.
With his wife, Genie, he was a committed leader and servant in Tres Dias of Fairfield County, an ecumenical Christian renewal organization.
In addition to his wife, Wells is survived by two daughters, Sarah and Debbie; a goddaughter, Fana.
A service of celebration and thanksgiving for his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 9, at Stanwich Congregational Church, 202 Taconic Rd., in Greenwich.

Jean Vogel
Jean Vogel, 86, former guidance counselor at Greenwich High School, of Greenwich and Wauchula, Fla., died June 7, 2010, in Wauchula, Fla.
Born May 18, 1924, in Ridgefield Park, N.J., she was the daughter of Edward and Bonniejean Vogel.
Vogel graduated from Queens College, City College of New York and Oberlin College in Ohio. She retired in 1986 after 25 years as a guidance counselor at Greenwich High School. Prior to that, she was a teacher and guidance counselor in the New York public school system.
Vogel is survived by a niece, Suzanne Hubbard; a grandnephew, Brook Hubbard of Lanham, Md.; a nephew, Eric and his wife Julie Vogel; a grandnephew, Jason of Nassau, N.Y.; a grandniece, Kristen and her husband Ryan Juchem of Brunswick, N.Y.; a niece, Heidi Vogel of Lanai City, Hawaii; a nephew, Ford Vogel; two grandnephews, Sean and Zachary Vogel of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a sister-in-law, Mildred Vogel of Kihei, Hawaii; and her four cousins: Robert H. Frazier of Rowayton, Bonnie Young of Madison, Mary McDaniel of Oberlin, Ohio and Dr. William Frazier of Vero Beach, Fla.
She was predeceased by a brother, Roderick Q. Vogel.
Services will be held today at 10:30 a.m. at the Greenwich Baptist Church, 10 Indian Rock Lane, Greenwich.
