Edward Lee Clark
Edward Lee Clark, 76, Korean War veteran, Greenwich firefighter and a lifelong Greenwich resident, died on April 23, 2010 at Nathaniel Witherell.
He was born in Stamford on May 25, 1933 to Frank and Dorothy Floerke Clark.
Clark was a graduate of Greenwich High School, Class of 1951. He served in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany during the Korean War.
On Feb. 23, 1966 Clark married
his wife, Noreen Bridget Linnane of Bellharbour County Clare, Ireland. She predeceased him in 1989.
Clark was a firefighter with town of Greenwich and a member of local firefighters union 1042. After retiring from the town, he became a postman for the Old Greenwich Post Office.
Clark is survived by his sister, Carol Clark Merritt and her husband, Donald of Rutland, Vt.
A Mass of Christian burial was held on April 27 in St. Agnes Church in Greenwich. Interment followed in St. John's cemetery in Darien.

Yee Ling Fong
Yee Ling Fong, former owner of Star Laundry, passed away on April 23, 2010 in Greenwich.
She was born in Canton, China and moved to Greenwich in 1951 with her husband, Him Lun Fong.
For the next 20 years, they ran Star Laundry on Greenwich Ave.
She will be remembered for her caring spirit and youthful exuberance, as well as her love and generosity to all who knew her.
In addition to her husband, Fong is survived by her four children, 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on April 28 at Harvest Time Church International in Greenwich.
Donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association in her memory.
Evelyn Rea Francis
Evelyn Rea Francis, 77, of Cos Cob, passed away on April 25, 2010.
Francis was born in Stamford to John and Evelyn Deveau Rea. She enjoyed reading, painting, gardening, and especially loved spending time with her granddaughters.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Frank Francis; a son, George Francis and his wife Amie; a daughter, Natalie Jean Frenz and her husband Billy; three sisters: Yvonne Zito, Ellen Petrilli, and Karen Bennard; and her two grandchildren, Jaclyn Rea Francis and Allison Dorothea Frenz. She was predeceased by her brother, Jack Rea.
A memorial service will be held at The First Congregational Church of Old Greenwich, on Saturday, May 1 at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to The St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Make a Wish Foundation.
Concetta Gasbarri
Concetta "Connie" Gasbarri, 83, passed away surrounded by those who loved her.
Born March 4, 1927 to Michelina and Frank Pignataro, Gasbarri was a lifelong resident of Greenwich.
She was known for her spunky spirit, her love of baseball, rides on the Island Beach boat and early dinners at Tod's Point.
She also enjoyed her cup of tea while reading the Greenwich Time in a kitchen that was always filled with the smells of her meatballs and breaded chicken cutlets.
She is survived by her husband, Ed; three daughters: Debra Gasbarri of Greenwich, Donna Shapiro and her husband, Scott of Chicago, and Celia Meli and her husband, Richard of Staten Island; two sons, Ed Gasbarri and his wife, Pam of Bristol, Va., and John Gasbarri and his wife, Pat of Winter Park, Fla.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by two sisters, Assunta Gabriele of Stamford and Josephine Curcuruto of Florida; and two brothers, Charles Pignataro of Virginia and Rocky Pignataro of Naugatuck. She was predeceased by four sisters: Mary, Sarah, Rose and Lucille; and a brother, Larry.
A memorial Mass was held at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Riverside on April 27.
James J. Johann
James J. Johann, 47, died on April 20, 2010.
He was born in Greenwich on Sept. 7, 1962 to Richard and Therese Collins Johann and was a graduate of Greenwich High School, Class of 1980.
Johann worked as a yard forman for Metro-North Railroad. He enjoyed fishing and was a avid Yankees fan.
He is survived by a son, Shane Richard Johann; and a daughter, Jamie Lynn Johann, both of Pfafftown, N.C.; his mother of Brewster, Mass., his father and step-mother of Osterville, Mass.; a brother, Richard C. Johann Jr. of Wilton Manors, Fla.; two sisters, Deborah A. Blanchette and her husband Kevin of Byfield, Mass. and Susan A. Coates and her husband Richard of Boston, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was held on April 24 in St. Mary's Church in Greenwich. Interment followed in St. Mary cemetery in Greenwich.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Church or a charity on one's choice.
Rose Mary Marzullo
Rose Mary Marzullo passed away at her residence in Greenwich, on April 21, 2010.
She was born to James and Catherine Fabrizio DeStefani on June 19, 1929 in Mamaroneck, N.Y.
Marzullo spent much of her time at the Greenwich Senior Center. She will be remembered as a fun-loving and giving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Marzullo is survived by her five children: James Marzullo and Christine Krieg, both of Old Greenwich; Joanna Sweet of Norwalk; Catherine LiVolsi of Bellows Falls, Vt.; and Diane Olivo of Salem, N.H.. her brothers, Bruno DeStefani of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and James DeStefani of Vienna, Va.; and her grandchildren, Jessica Marzullo, Bridget and James Krieg, Michelle Fish, Anthony LiVolsi Jr., Caroline and John Olivo.
She is also survived by two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Jennifer Krieg.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on April 24 at St. Mary Church in Greenwich.
Steve Maxwell
Steve Maxwell, 71, retired Time, Inc. executive and longtime ESL teacher of Greenwich, passed away on April 22, 2010, doing what he loved to do most: playing tennis.
He was born on April 16, 1939, in Buffalo, N.Y., the first child of John and Laurie Maxwell. After the passing of his father, he and his mother and younger brother Woody moved to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Steve graduated from Fort Lauderdale High School in 1957.
It was during his time in Florida that Steve developed his lifelong passion for the game of tennis. For 23 years he was a member of the Belle Haven Club, where he chaired the tennis committee on two occasions, captained a number of the club's teams and played more recently with the "Good Old Boys."
Maxwell received his bachelor of arts degree in English from Davidson College in 1961, and two years later, earned his M.B.A. from the Wharton School.
On June 3, 1963, he married
the former Kay Jean Ferguson, whom he met while working summers at the Saranac Inn in the Adirondacks. That same year, the couple moved to New York City where Maxwell began working for Time, Inc.
He transferred within the company to Time-Life Books in 1966. In 1974, Maxwell and his family moved to Tokyo where he managed Time-Life Books in Japan for a year. Two years later, he was promoted to Vice President and General Manager of Time-Life Books and coordinated the move of the company to Alexandria, Va. He would later be promoted to Executive Vice President, and also sit on the Board of Directors of HBO.
In 1983, Maxwell returned to Time, Inc. headquarters in New York as General Manager of the company's magazine group, and he and his family became residents of Greenwich.
After retiring from Time, Inc. in 1985, he began pursuing his true calling: teaching. During the remaining years of his life, he taught English as a Second Language classes as part of the adult and continuing education programs offered in Greenwich and Stamford.
He was honored as the "Educator of the Year" in 2004 by the Connecticut Association for Adult and Continuing Education, and by the time of his passing, nearly 3, 000 students had benefitted from his teaching and tutoring.
Maxwell also served the town of Greenwich as a member of the Board of Social Services, concluding his service as vice chairman of the board in 2009.
Maxwell traveled extensively during his lifetime to the four corners of the globe: from exploring the Galapagos Islands, to trekking in the Himalayas, to touring the pyramids of Egypt and walking the Great Wall of China.
In addition to teaching, traveling and tennis, his passions included spending time with friends and family at the Belle Haven Club, attending the theater in New York, gardening, grilling out on the back patio, and spending way too much time at the AMC Movie Theater in Port Chester, N.Y., his family said.
Maxwell is survived by his wife, Kay, of Greenwich; his son, John of Riverside, Calif.; and his brother, Woody of Mullins, S.C.
A celebration of his life will be held today at 3 p.m. at the Belle Haven Club, and will be followed by a reception.
