Mary E. Brunalli
Mary E. (Mongillo) Brunalli, 80, formerly of Southington, died Sept. 29, 2004, at Brittany Farms Health Care Center. She was the wife of Bruno J. Brunalli.
She was born in Southington on May 10, 1924, the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Maria (Cusano) Mongillo. She trained and worked as a baby nurse at Father Baker's Home in Lackawana, N. Y. and also at the St. Agnes Home in West Hartford. She had worked at the office of Dr. Thomas Dudac in Southington.
Besides her husband of 54 years, she is survived by her two daughters and son-in-law, Marta Brunalli and Carla Davidson and her husband Ned; her grandchildren, Jacob and Jessie both of Southington; her two sisters, Jennie Jordan and Josephine Maineri both of Southington; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Ralph, Leonard, James, Albert, Faust and Adolph Mongillo.
The funeral was held on Oct. 2 from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, Southington, to St. Thomas Church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Julian F. Berkeley
Julian Florian Berkeley, 98, of Dania Beach, Fla. and Plantsville, died on Sept. 30, 2004, at Bradley Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Bertha Latimer Florian, his wife of 67 years.
Born Aug. 31, 1906 in New York City, he was the son of Julian and Emily Florian. He was an inventor and manufacturer. He had patents for a folding scissor, a rotary pinking shear, a folding wheelbarrow and a two-headed hammer. The rotary pinking shear is still being manufactured at his factory in Plantsville. For several years after his marriage he and his wife operated photographic studios (Four For A Dime) in Savin Rock, at Lake Compounce and at other locations throughout the United States. During WWII he spent many long hours manufacturing products for the war effort. He was a builder throughout Connecticut and Florida, and developed "Florian Isles" in Dania Beach, Fla.
He is survived by two daughters, Beverlee Marotto and her husband Charles of Plantsville and Barbara Corwin and her husband William of So. Royalton, Vt.; a son, Berkeley Jay ( Buzz) Florian and his wife Marilyn of Wolcott; nine grandchildren, Kimberlee Cantin, Glenn Marotto, Kelly D'Ambrosio, Andrea Connolly, Danielle Sheehan, Kathryn Avello, Berkeley Joshua Florian, Christine Moniz Cain and Cassidy Corwin; 15 great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Olivia, and Isabelle Cantin, Jarrod and Chrisala Marotto, Jaclyn, Anthony, and Vincent D'Ambrosio, Hope Connolly, Erin, Madeline, and Margaret Sheehan, Micah Berkeley Florian, Alexandrea Moniz and Orion Corwin: and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, R. Steuart Florian.
A family memorial service will be held at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home in Wolcott on Sunday from 4-5- PM. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the ALS Association Ct. chapter, 4 Oxford Road, Unit D. 1 Milford, Ct. 06460.
Rosamond W. Jarry
Rosamond W. Jarry, 94, formerly of Southington, died Sept. 29, 2004, at Bradley Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Adelard Jarry.
She was born in Brownsville, Maine, on March 19, 1910, the daughter of the late Edward and Lura Milliken Wentworth. She had been a Southington resident for the past 20 years. She retired from the New England Clock Company in 1972.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Dona Jarry of Southington; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held on Oct. 2, at the Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home, Plantsville. Burial was in St. Thomas Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Ave., P.O. Box 1004, Meriden, CT 06450.
Sister Mary Louise
Sister Mary Louise (Anna Lukowski), 98, a member of the Daughters of Mary of the Immaculate Conception, died on Oct. 2, 2004, at New Britain General Hospital.
She was the daughter of the late Stanislaus and Anna (Piasta) Lukowski. She was a native of Jersey City, N.J., and she had completed 74 years of dedicated service to the Lord. She entered the religious community, the Daughters of Mary of the Immaculate Conception, on July 28, 1930. She gave her life of service in the community to the culinary arts, most recently at Sacred Heart, New Britain.
She is survived by four nephews, Donald Lukowski of New Britain, Stanley J. Lukowski and his wife, Rita, of Topsfield, Mass., Walter Kolej and his wife, Christine, of Southington and Dr. Gregory Lukowski of Mystic: and a niece, Christine Kolej of Southington.
She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Kolej; two brothers, George Lukowski and Stanley J. Lukowski; and a nephew, Stanley Kolej.
The funeral was held on Oct. 5 in the Motherhouse Chapel. Burial was in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Daughters of Mary Retirement Fund. New Britain Memorial/Sagarino Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
William G. Macri
William G. Macri, 73, of Meriden, died on Sept. 30, 2004 at Masonic Healthcare Center. He was the husband of Shirley (Gray) Macri,
He was born in Meriden on Jan. 27, 1931, the son of Carmel (Scozzari) Zachary of Meriden and the late Joseph Macri. He had resided in Meriden all his life and had attended Meriden schools. He was employed by American Cyanamid of Wallingford for 39 years before retiring in 1992. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Besides his wife and his mother, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and James Blackall of South Meriden; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Robin Macri of South Meriden and William J. And Eileen Macri of Plantsville; seven grandchildren, Matthew and Ryan Macri, Kevin and Sean Blackall, Kaitlyn, Kyle and Lauren Macri; a sister, Rose Cassidy of Meriden; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Robert A. Macri; and his step father, Anthony Zachary.
The funeral was held on Oct. 4 from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, Meriden to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Burial with military honors was in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492.
John J. Marut
John J. Marut, 87, of New Britain, died Sept. 28, 2004, at the Haven Healthcare of Farmington. He was the husband of the late Anne (Wiater) Marut.
He was born in New Britain, son of the late Andrew and Mary (Jaskot) Marut. He was a Charter Member of Holy Cross Church, a member of the Holy Cross Holy Name Society, the Stanley Seniors, PNA 2093 and the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was employed by the Stanley Works for 40 years, until his retirement in 1980.
He is survived by a son, Ronald J. Marut and his wife Betty, of Southington; a daughter, Joan Dudack and her husband Leon, of Windsor; six grandchildren, Suzanne Caswell and her husband Scott, Nancy Marut, Matthew Dudack and his wife Lara, James Dudack, Thomas Dudack, and Diane Dudack; four great grandchildren; Storm Elizabeth Caswell, Logan Caswell, Zoe Dudack, Max Dudack; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Stanley, Frank and Casmir Marut.
The funeral was held Oct. 2, from the New Britain Memorial/Sagarino Funeral Home, New Britain to Holy Cross Church. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Jane Barkentin Bedell
Jane Barkentin Bedell, 84, a former Greenwich resident and longtime GHS chemistry teacher of Bedford, Mass., died peacefully on March 2, 2010.
She was born on Dec. 4, 1925 to Theodore C. Banta and Lillian M. Reinhart and spent more than 50 years in Greenwich. She graduated from Greenwich High School, Class of 1943, and earned a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from Mount Holyoke College.
After receiving a masters degree while raising three children, she taught chemistry for 19 years at Greenwich High School and was the girls' varsity tennis coach for a number of state championship years.
Bedell is survived by two daughters, Christine M. Culman of Half Moon Bay, Calif. and Kate N. Culman, MD of Calgary, Alberta, and five grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husbands, William Slater Barkentin and K. Robert Bedell and her son, Peter Banta Culman.
A memorial service will be held at Christ Church Greenwich on April 9 at 10:30 am.

Her daughters would like to recognize the wonderful loving care their mother received at Carleton-Willard Village, Ross-Worthen Center, Bedford, MA and from the Hospice of the North Shore.
Susan Smart Donnelly
Susan Smart Donnelly, a longtime resident of Greenwich, died peacefully on March 4, 2010, at Nathaniel Witherell Home in Greenwich after a short illness.
Smart worked for many years as a nurse at Greenwich Hospital in the newborn unit.
She also did some private duty care and worked for a pediatrician.
She is survived by a sister, Katherine S. Olson and her husband, Robert of New Milford, and several nephews and nieces. Smart was predeceased by her husband, Samuel Donnelly, and three siblings: Isabel Lockwood of Connecticut, and William Smart and Jean Slomka, both of New York.
A private memorial service will be held later this year.
