Carol Ann Jurgenson Farn

Carol Ann Jurgenson Farn, 73, a longtime Riverside resident, died on March 13, 2010 in her daughter's home in Old Greenwich of complications related to her long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Born Dec. 21, 1936 in East Moline, Ill., she was the daughter Lyle and Eileen Jurgenson. She spent her youth in both Illinois and Indiana, where she was educated and began her career as an elementary school teacher.

Farn will be remembered for her dedication to not only her family and friends, but to many charitable organizations she supported, including First Congregational Church, Greenwich Arts Council, North Mianus School, the Eastern Middle School and Greenwich High School PTAs, Girl Scouts, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Meals on Wheels and Pathways.

Farn is survived by her daughters, Alison Farn Leigh, Kendra Farn Finz and five granddaughters: Jillian, Grace and Georgia Leigh and Paulina and Garyn Finz, all of Old Greenwich.

She is also survived by her brother, Robert Jurgenson of Stuart, Florida. She was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Gary Farn.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 23 at the First Congregational Church in Old Greenwich.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Congregational Church, 108 Sound Beach Avenue, Old Greenwich, CT 06870 or the Alzheimer's Association, Connecticut Chapter, 279 New Britain Road, Suite 5, Kensington, CT 06037.

Michael Fidelibus

Michael Fidelibus, 71, a Greenwich resident, died on March 11, 2010.

He was born Aug. 8, 1938 in Port Chester to Michael and Theresa Fidelibus and educated in Port Chester.

Fidelibus served in the U.S. Army from 1956 - 9, where he attained the rank of Specialist Fifth Class serving in Germany and Lebanon.

Fidelibus worked as a house painter and had a love of history and sports.

On June 25, 1972, he married Laura Mazzone.

Family and friends will remember him for his compassion and sense of humor.

Fidelibus is survived by his wife, Laura; his brother Phil and his wife, Patty, all of Greenwich; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceaser by his parents.

A funeral was held on March 15 at Corpus Christi Church in Port Chester. Interment followed in St. Mary cemetery in Rye Brook, N.Y.

David Harvey

David Harvey, 84, World War II veteran and a longtime resident of Greenwich, died peacefully on March 10, 2010 at Greenwich Hospital.

Harvey attended Yale University, and graduated with a bachelor of fine arts degree in art and architecture. He went on to become a Fulbright Scholar and studied in Germany.

Harvey served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and later served in the U.S. Air force Reserve, retiring as a lieutenant colonel in 1979.

His professional career spanned several decades with IBM as the art director for the business show department

He was predeceased by his wife, Alice Abel in 2006.

A funeral service was held on March 13 in the Fred D. Knapp & Son Funeral Home in Greenwich.

Interment followed in The Middle Patent cemetery in Banksville, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation.

Icilda Hender

Icilda "Icy" Hender, 82, entered into eternal rest on Monday, March 15, 2010 at her home in Greenwich.

She was born in Kingston, Jamaica on March 22, 1927 and migrated to the United States in 1970.

Hender is survived by her two daughters, Fay Lewis-Chevannes and Hyacinth Henderson-McKenzie, her six grandchildren: Tamara Chevannes-Hall, Jessica Chevannes-McSears, Kevin Creary, Donald McKenzie, Jr., Natasha McKenzie, and LaKesha McKenzie, seven great-grandchildren, and other relatives. She was predeceased by her husband, Edgerton Henderson.

The family will receive friends at the Castiglione Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Avenue, Greenwich, CT 06830 today from 5 - 9 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 20 at 10 a.m. at Bethel AME Church, 42 Lake Avenue, Greenwich, CT 06830. Interment will follow at Putnam Cemetery.

Gilda D. Jensen

Gilda D. Jensen, 83, a lifetime Greenwich resident, passed away at Greenwich Hospital, January 27, 2010. She is survived by a son, A. Christen Jensen, a daughter, Elyse James, a sister, Teresa Gallick, three granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur C. Jensen, and three sisters: Antoinette Fonte, Chancy D. Curry and Helen Parsons.

A memorial service was held on March 15 at Gallagher and Son in Greenwich.

Caroline Kendall Kortner

Caroline Kendall Kortner, 39, Greenwich native of Stamford died peacefully following a lengthy illness on March 15, 2010. She was born on July 21, 1970 to Coleman Keith Kortner Sr. and Mary Helen Nipper Kortner.

Kortner was raised in Cos Cob, and was a graduate of Greenwich High School and attended the University of North Carolina upon her graduation. She will be remembered for her love of animals, especially her two cats.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her brother, Coleman Kortner, and his wife Kelly, and her niece Keeghan Kortner. She was prececeased by her father, her paternal grandparents, Alexander and Helen Kortner and her maternal grandparents, Dan and Emmaline Nipper.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to: P.A.W.S., Adopt-A-Dog, or an Animal/Rescue Shelter of choice. Arrangements are by the Castiglione Funeral Home, Inc.

Mary Alice Keating Lewis

Mary Alice Keating Lewis, 90, of South Pasadena, Fla., died Thursday, March 11, 2010 at her residence.

She was born in Stamford and was a graduate of Marymount College in Tarrytown, N.Y. She was a member of St. John's Vianney Catholic Church in St. Pete Beach, Fla., the Pasadena Tennis and Yacht Club and Innis Arden Golf Club in Greenwich.

She is survived by two daughters, Dr. Pamela Epperson, and Roxanne Gardner; five grandchildren: John, Jr., Robert and his wife Amy, Courtney, Kelly and Megan; a great- grandson, Braden; a niece, Patty Keating Doyle; and her longtime friend and companion, E.J. Hinkle. She was predeceased by her husband of 32 years, Robert Lee Lewis; her brother and sister-in-law, Judge John P. and Lola Keating; a nephew, John P. Keating, Jr.; and her aunt, Mary E. Kelly.

Services will be held at a later date in Connecticut.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to Suncoast Hospice 5771 Roosevelt Blvd. Clearwater, FL 33760 or the SPCA Tampa Bay 9099-130th Ave. No. Largo, FL 33773.
