Rita Longo
Rita Longo, 82, of Greenwich, passed away on March 9, 2010 with her family by her side. Longo was born in the Bronx, N.Y. on Feb. 20, 1928 to Peter and Caroline Prisco.
Longo most enjoyed reading, cooking and helping people. She was a parishioner of St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church.
Longo is survived by her daughter, Rita and husband Michael Migliaccio; her brother, Michael Prisco and sister-in-law, Josephine; her granddaughters Marisa and Gabrielle Migliaccio; and her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Louis A. Longo, Jr. in 2009.
A Mass of Christian burial was held on March 12 at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church in Greenwich. Entombment followed in Ferncliff cemetery in Hartsdale, N.Y.

Phyllis Loparco
Phyllis Loparco, 90, passed away peacefully at Greenwich Hospital on March 9, 2010. She was born in Derby, March 19, 1919 and grew up in the Chickahominy section of Greenwich.
For more than a decade, Loparco was in charge of factories in Hong Kong and Manila, overseeing the manufacturing of a popular undergarment.
Longo also traveled extensively throughout the world and visited every year in Mexico at the home of her oldest niece.
In her retirement years, she undertook volunteer work at the local Hamilton Avenue School and also worked at the polls for the Town of Greenwich.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Horace, Samuel, Dominick; and two sisters, Sadie Gerardi and Principia Conti.
A Mass of Christian burial was held on March 15 at St. Roch Church in Greenwich. Internment followed at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Arles M. Mackall, Jr.
Arles M. Mackall, JR., 72, passed away on Jan. 24, 2010, in Bedford, Pa., after a long illness.
He was born in Detroit, Mich. on Oct. 30, 1937, and his family moved to Greenwich, when he was seven years old. He attended the Greenwich Country Day School along with his brothers and sisters.
He graduated from Trinity College in Hartford in 1960. Before college, he attended St. Mark's School in Southborough, Mass., and graduated in 1956.
He moved to New York in 1965 and began a career as a commercial real estate broker with William White & Co.
Then in 1976, he left that firm and formed his own real estate brokerage company, specializing in commercial leases for the major office buildings in the mid-Manhattan market.
He married
Winifred Baker in 1969 and moved back to Greenwich where their three children were born. They divorced in 1981, but continued to work together closely in raising their children.
He retired in 1999, moved to Bedford, Pa., and married
Priscilla M. Defibaugh in 2006.
He is survived by his wife, Priscilla; three children: Bay, Charles and David; two grandchildren, Austin and Lily; five brothers and sisters: Margaret Cragin, Louis, Lucy Sachs, John and Joan; and seventeen nieces and nephews.
Flora A. Masson
Flora A. Masson, 98, a longtime resident of Greenwich, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2010.
Masson worked as a secretary for Consolidated Electric.
She was predeceased by her husband, William Mitchell Masson in 1965 and her sister, Alice R. Wareham in 1997.
A graveside service was held on March 17 at Greenwood Union cemetery in Rye, N.Y.
Herbert Bingham Mead
Herbert Bingham Mead, 86, passed away peacefully on Feb. 25, 2010 at the Sky View Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Croton-on-Hudson in New York.
A direct descendant of the founders of the Town of Greenwich, Mead was born in 1924 and raised in Greenwich, attending local schools. He was the son of the late Stanley Bingham Mead and Gertrude Wester Mead.
Mead lived in back country Greenwich for most of his life until moving to Wilton, and then Croton-on-Hudson in December 2008.
He was a World War II veteran who served as a radioman in the U.S. Marines 1st and 4th Marine Divisions from 1943 - 47, at Guadalcanal, Peleiu, the front lines in the Battle of Okinawa, and stationed for several years in Tianjin and Beijing, China after the Japanese surrender.
For many years, he was employed in the Clairol research division of the Bristol-Myers Squibb Corporation in Stamford, Connecticut. After his retirement, he founded a garden design and landscape business.
Mead was an active volunteer for more than 40 years in Greenwich's fire department services including serving as chief of the Round Hill Volunteer Fire Department and the Amogerone Volunteer Fire Company, contributing his time and energies.
Surviving are his four children: Gail Mead Fletcher of Greenwich; Deborah Mead Danielsen of Fairfield; Jeffrey Bingham Mead of Honolulu, Hawaii; Tracy Ann Mead of Paris, France; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Christ Church Greenwich, 254 East Putnam Ave., followed by burial in the First Congregational Church Cemetery, Old Greenwich.

Peter Boles O'Brien
Peter Boles O'Brien passed away on March 3, 2010 at the age of 73.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Gayle; and their four children: Timothy W. O' Brien, Kerrie G. Ballentine, Laurie G. Heaney, and Peter B. O' Brien Jr.; ten grandchildren; and three brothers.
A private family service will be held in Albany, New York.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a donation to the Stanwich Congregational Church in Greenwich.
Maureen E. O'Shea
Maureen E. O'Shea, 56, a Greenwich resident for more than 30 years, died on March 13, 2010 at Greenwich Hospital following a battle with cancer.
She was born on May 27, 1953, in Flushing, N.Y. and was the daughter of Bernard and Norma O'Shea.
Shortly after O'Shea's birth, the family moved to Rye, where she spent her childhood. A 1971 graduate of Rye High School, O'Shea served as senior class president, captain of the synchronized swimming team and participated in many additional activities.
O'Shea attended Smith College, and left after her freshman year to marry David Moxhay, also of Rye, whom she later divorced. She completed her undergraduate studies at Manhattanville College, and then earned her masters in special education from Fairfield University.
O'Shea settled in Greenwich in 1976 and became a teacher at New Lebanon Elementary School. In 1985 she left teaching to join Unum, as an insurance sales representative, and eventually started Focus Consulting, her own employee benefits consulting firm in Greenwich.
In 1994 O'Shea became involved with the girls' youth lacrosse program at the Old Greenwich Riverside Community Center and expanded the program from a few dozen to several hundred participants.
The success of the program raised awareness for the need to provide more opportunities in lower Westchester and Fairfield counties for girls to play lacrosse.
The Fairchester Lacrosse Association (FCLA) was formed, which nurtures young girls from first through eighth grades who are interested in the sport of lacrosse.
O'Shea was also part of the group of coaches and parents who founded Greenwich Youth Lacrosse.
In 2001 O'Shea founded the club program Connecticut Lacrosse Futures for premier high school girls' lacrosse players from throughout lower New England and Westchester.
Over the years dozens of her CTLF players earned All-American and Academic All-American at both the high school and college levels, and several were selected for the women's national team.
O'Shea continued her passion for lacrosse as the varsity girls' lacrosse coach at the Convent of the Sacred Heart in Greenwich, and later Rye High School.
She was also an active member of the Greenwich Rotary Club for many years, and served for a time as the club's president.
O'Shea is survived by her son, Chris Moxhay; and five siblings: Brian O'Shea, Kevin O'Shea, Kathleen O'Shea, Stephen O'Shea and Sean O'Shea.
A celebration of O'Shea's life will be held on tomorrow at Westchester Country Club in Rye from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m.
