Jerry Marko

Jerry Marko, 83, of Rocky Hill, formerly of Newington, died Nov. 27, 2004 at home. He was the husband of 47 years to Ursula Marko.

He was born in the Ukraine and spent many years in Poland and Germany before moving to the United States in the 1950's.

He worked at the Fafnir Bearing Co., New Britain, for 27 years and was a member of the Hartford Saengerbund, Newington, for many years.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Simone and Dennis Baillargeon; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael and Michelle Marko of Newington and Bernd Marko of Germany; his grandchildren, Karina, Nicole, Erika and Nicholas of Newington; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Herbert and Karin Null of Plantsville and Rudi and Ericka Fuchs of Germany; his niece and nephew, Ramona and Thomas; his brother, Michael Marko of New Britain; his nephews, Ted and Richard; and his cousin, Walter Cyganik.

The funeral was held Dec. 1 at Newington Memorial Funeral Home. Burial was private. Donations may be made to the American Heart Assoc., 2550 U.S. Highway 1, North Brunswick, NJ 08902.

Gretchen O. Misko

Gretchen Owens Misko, 67, of Debbie Drive, Southington, died Nov. 24, 2004, at New Britain General Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. She was the wife of Chester Misko.

Born in Milo, Maine, Oct. 12, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Marion (Webber) Owens. She had lived in Southington and Plainville for the past 60 years and had just retired in September, after 35 years of service, from the former Emhart and Corbin Russwin company.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Sharyl Hobson of Bristol; a step-son and a step-daughter, Brian Misko and Kimberly Cote, both of Wolcott; five grandchildren, Christopher Schatz, Jillian and Daniel Gagnier, and Christopher and Jacob Cote; two great-grandchildren, Christian and Mackenzie Schatz; a brother, Francis Owens of California; a sister, Florice Ross of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, David Gagnier.

Graveside services were held Dec. 1 at South End Cemetery. Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Peter A. Palmieri

Peter A. Palmieri, 94, formerly of Bristol Street, died Nov. 25, 2004, at Southington Care Center. He was the husband of Mary (Wilkes) Palmieri for 71 years.

Peter was the son of the late Louis and Michelena (Rosano) Palmieri. He had worked at Southington Hardware, Marlin-Rockwell, Johnny's Market and the Plantsville Post Office. He was a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and a 50 year member of the Improved Order of Redmen.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Peter Palmieri of Largo, Fla., Lewis Palmieri, and Stephen Palmieri and his wife, Lois, all of Southington; his daughter, Patricia DePaolo and her husband, Alfred, of Southington;12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by four brothers, Carmen, Joseph, Sisto and Gennaro Palmieri, and a sister, Ann Ziems.

A Memorial Mass was held Dec. 1 at St. Thomas Church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. DellaVecchia Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.

Joseph W. Rabis Jr.

Joseph W. Rabis Jr., 39, of Berlin Street, died Nov. 20, 2004.

Born in Southington, Jan. 7, 1965, the son of Mildred (Maskaitis) Rabis and the late Joseph W. Rabis Sr., he was a lifelong Southington resident. He worked for Robin Bauder at Petroleum Services Company.

Besides his mother, he is survived by four sisters, Kathy Slocum and her husband, William, of Vermont, Linda Reid of Florida, Eileen Savage and her husband, Donald, of Southington and Joanne Corriveau of Plantsville; his longtime girlfriend, Claudia Crowell, and her children, Richard "Spike", and Krista and Jennifer, all of Southington; his faithful companion, Max; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

The funeral was held Nov. 24 from Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home to Immaculate Conception Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial was in Immaculate Conception Cemetery.

Philip R. Rasmussen Sr.

Philip R. (Bob) Rasmussen Sr., 71, of Mac Arthur Drive, died Nov. 26, 2004, at St. Raphael Hospital in New Haven. He was the husband of Theresa (Ricard) Rasmussen.

He was born March 18, 1933, in New Brunswick, Canada, the son of the late Herbert and Eva (Parker) Rasmussen. Having served in the U.S. Army, he later worked for Macristy Industries in New Britain, which he retired from in 1998. He was a parishioner of St. Aloysius Church, a member of its Holy Name Society, and was also employed by St. Aloysius Church. He had such a love for woodworking that he taught classes in it for the Adult Education Program.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mariah and Tiffany Rasmussen, both of Plantsville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Philip R. Rasmussen Jr. and his wife, Cheryl, of South Meriden, and Daniel Rasmussen and Angela Carpentino of Wallingford; seven grandchildren, Skye Muli, Philip Rasmussen III, Daniel Rasmussen Jr., Mandy, Erica and Shaina Rasmussen and Michele Carpentino; one great-granddaughter, Harley Rose Rasmussen; two brothers, Oran Rasmussen of Fort Fairfield, Maine, and Basil Rasmussen of Plymouth; one sister, Mary Kirby of Parma, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Rauol Rodrigues. He was predeceased by his first wife, Faustina; a brother, Del Rasmussen; and a sister, Daisy Cray.

The funeral was held Nov. 30 from DellaVecchia Funeral Home to St. Aloysuis Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Wanda E. Thurz

Wanda E. (Radominski) Thurz, 76, died Nov. 23, 2004, at Haven Health Care of Rocky Hill. She was the wife of Edward Thurz.

Born in Poland on Sept. 8, 1928, she settled in New Britain before moving to Glastonbury in 1978. She was a communicant of the Church of the Transfiguration.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Richard Radominski of New Britain; a daughter, Barbara Kassey and her husband, Frank, of Southington; a stepson, Richard Thurz of Glastonbury; a sister, Helen Campus of France; and three grandchildren, Michael and Tara Kassey and Sandra Laposky.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial was held Nov. 26 at the Church of the Transfiguration, New Britain. Burial followed in Wonx Spring Cemetery, Marion. New Britain MemorialnSagarino Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Gabriele Tammaro

Entered into rest eternal Oct. 23, 2006, Gabriele Tammaro, 84, of 51 Morgan Lane, Hamden. Husband of Josephine G. DellaRocco Tammaro; father of Mrs. Susan (Timothy) Liston and Mrs. Cynthia (Roger) Parisi; grandfather of Paul Campagna and Michael Parisi; brother of Anthony Tammaro of Florida and Lucian Tammaro of Orange.

Born in Cusano, Italy, on Dec. 8, 1921, he was a son of the late Luciano and Giovanni Petrello Tammaro. Gabe owned and operated Tammaro’s Lawn Service for over 55 years, until his illness. He was a member of the Connecticut Grounds Keeper’s Association and the Knights of Columbus.

Funeral in Hamden Memorial, 1300 Dixwell Ave., Thursday at 9:15 a.m. with a mass at 10 a.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Church. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Burial will take place in Centerville Cemetery.

Lena Alegi

Lena Barra Alegi, 88, of 5 Furman Road, Hamden, passed away in St. Raphael’s Hospital on Oct. 13, 2006. She was the widow of Dino J. Alegi. Mrs. Alegi, daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Mazzaro Barra, was born in New Haven on Aug. 23, 1918. Prior to retirement, she worked for New Haven Elderly Nutrition Program.

She is survived by a son, Thomas A. (Elaine) Alegi of Hamden; two daughters, Noreen (Vincent) DeDomenico and Elizabeth (Daniel) Clifford, both of Hamden; a brother, Raymond (Belinda) Barra, and a sister, Angelina Vitello, both of Hamden; four grandchildren, Vincent DeDomenico Jr., Gregory Clifford, Richard Alegi and Laurie Manganiello; two great grandchildren, Thomas and Christopher Manganiello; and a niece, Elizabeth Brady. She was predeceased by a brother Nicholas Barra and her grandson, Thomas D. Alegi.

Funeral from the Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (corner of Dwight), New Haven, Monday morning at 9:15. Mass in Ascension Church, 1040 Dunbar Hill Road, Hamden, at 10 a.m. Friends may call at the funeral Monday morning from 8 to 9:15. Interment in Beaverdale. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to St. Raphael Foundation, 1450 Chapel St., New Haven, Conn. 06511.

John F. Arcucci

Entered into rest eternal Oct. 4, 2006, John Frederick Arcucci, 83, of 569 Rayzoe Terrace, Hamden. Widower of Anna Meizies Arcucci; father of William J. (Khora) Criscuolo of Everett, Wash., Paul S. (Alexa) Criscuolo of West Haven, Louis M. (Jolie) Criscuolo of Hamden, Lenora (James) Hanks of Hamden, Johnna Arcucci of Branford, James (Nina) Arcucci of Hamden and the late Johnny Arcucci. Brother of the late Theresa Arcucci and former husband of Lois Arcucci. John also leaves six grandchildren.

Born in New Haven on Jan. 30, 1923, he was the son of the late John and Margaret Lupoli Arcucci. He was a World War II Army veteran, one-time employee of the former Safety Car Company in Hamden and former owner and operator of College Highway Inn for many years.

Funeral in Hamden Memorial, 1300 Dixwell Ave., on Saturday at 8:45 a.m. Mass at 9:30 a.m. in the Church of the Ascension. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Burial will take place in Beaverdale Memorial Park.

Michael “Buddy” M. Milano Sr.

Entered into rest eternal Oct. 3, 2006, Michael “Buddy” M. Milano Sr., 70, of 16 Main St., Essex, formerly of Berkley Court, Hamden. Father of Diana (Grayson) Gregory of Ivoryton, Denise (Michael) Beauton of Hamden, Pamela Milano of Norwich and Michael M. Milano Jr. of Hamden; brother of Mrs. Roseanne (Al) Napolitano of North Haven and former husband of Dee Romanowski-Milano. Buddy also leaves 12 grandchildren.

Born in New Haven on Nov. 8, 1935, he was the son of the late Andrew and Josephine Viauso Milano. Buddy was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean conflict. He later worked for the New Haven Railroad before he owned and operated Buddy’s Discount Furniture Store in Hamden for many years.

Funeral in Hamden Memorial, 1300 Dixwell Ave., Friday at 9:15 a.m. Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Burial with military honors will take place in All Saints Cemetery.
