Melitta F. Kazzi
Melitta F. Kazzi, 75, of Horseshoe Drive, Shelton entered into rest on Jan. 14, in Bridgeport Hospital. She was born in Norwalk Sept. 5, 1934, daughter of the late Walter and Margaret Kinneavy Franz, and was a Norwalk resident most of her life, also having lived in Bridgeport for 15 years. She enjoyed attending BINGO at St. Margaret Mary Church in Shelton.
She is the beloved mother of Stephen Kazzi, Paul Kazzi and Christine Molnar and her husband Gale, all of Shelton. She is the loving sister of Joan Franz and Janet McGuirk both of Norwalk, and the late Walter Franz. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.

Douglas M. Michaelson
Douglas M. Michaelson, 66, of Norwalk, died Jan. 1, 2010 at Norwalk Hospital. A lifelong resident of Norwalk, he was the husband of the late Deborah (Dimick) Michaelson. A graduate of Brien McMahon High School and J.M. Wright Tech, he had retired after 40 years as an oil truck driver and burner technician, then worked for a time at LeBlanc's.
He is survived by his son, Patrick Michaelson of Norwalk; his siblings James Michaelson of Elmer, N.J., Agnes Shovan of Keene, N.H., Tom Michaelson of Thomasville N.C., John Michaelson of Norwalk and Dennis Michaelson of Stratford, and Roger Michaelson of West Granite City, Ill., as well as several nieces and nephews.

Marie L. Scofield
Marie L. Scofield, 91 of Norwalk, died Jan. 15, at Norwalk Hospital. Born in Staten Island, N.Y., the daughter of the late Joseph and Lydia (Tillman) LaMadrid, she was a resident of Norwalk for most of her life.
She had worked for JJ Cash and Hoyt's Nursery, and spent many years working in the personnel department for the City of Norwalk, and the Norwalk Fire Department. She was a member of AARP chapter 2011, Fairfield County Retired Persons Club, South Norwalk Boat Club Ladies Auxiliary and the Norwalk Senior Center.
Scofield enjoyed travel, music, theater and square-dancing, and especially loved family gatherings. Predeceased by her husband John, she is survived by numerous loving relatives.

Virginia "Ginny" Sherwood
Virginia "Ginny" Sherwood, 85, of The Gardens, Danbury, and 47-year resident of Norwalk, died Jan. 15. She was the wife of the late Walter S. Collins and Robert H. Sherwood.
She was born in Stamford, May 20, 1924, a daughter of the late James and Florence (Gray) Street. She attended Stamford schools and was a graduate of Stamford High School.
Sherwood was employed by Machlett Labs and Raytheon for 43 years in Springdale.
A friend of animals, she was an advocate for animal rights.
A resident of Norton from 1953 to 1963, she was a member of the Norton Height Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the V.F.W. Auxiliary, Post 6433. She moved to Norwalk in 1963 living there until late 2009. She was also a member of St. John's Episcopal Church of Stamford.
She is survived by two step-children and their spouses, step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews of the area and out of state.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Sherwood was predeceased by two sisters, Beatrice Richards and Lydia Crichton.

Andrew R. "Andy" Soltes
Andrew R. "Andy" Soltes, 85, husband of Mary Soltesz Soltes, died Jan. 16, at Greenwich Hospital.
Born in Norwalk on Oct. 8, 1924, he was the son of the late Andrew Joseph and Mary Evon Soltes. During World War II, he served as an electrician 1st Class in the US Navy aboard the USS Potoka, the USS Nitro and the USS Wyoming. After the war he was employed by Audio Tape Corporation of Stamford, until his retirement in 1987. Most recently he was a crossing guard for the Stamford School System and a projectionist at the New Canaan Playhouse.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 65 years, are his children and their spouses: David and Jo-Ann Soltes of Milford; Andrew and Eileen Soltes of New Canaan; Jeffrey and Jodee Soltes of Palm Coast, Fla; Patricia and Ralph Conte of Wilton; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving him is a sister Mary Ryan of Norwalk and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his two brothers, Edward and William Soltes.

Nancy B. Weddell
Nancy B. Weddell, 85, wife of the late Perry Lawrence Weddell of Norwalk, died Jan. 17, in her home. Born May 20, 1924, she was daughter of the late Edwin and Anna Dubbs Braxton.
Weddell was a vice president of Merchant's Bank before her retirement and was a resident of Norwalk for 35 years. She was also active on the Women's Board of Norwalk Hospital, a member of the Shore & Country Club and an avid bridge player.
She is survived by her daughter Jan Magyar and her husband Steve of Stamford, and son David Weddell of Fairfield. Additionally, she is survived by her three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Paul, Joanne and by her two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Adam.

Domenic Gaudio
Entered into rest eternal on April 4, 2007, Domenic Gaudio, 91, of 128 North St., Hamden. Brother of Mary Taddei, Celia Gaudio and Michael Gaudio, all of Hamden, and the late Anthony, Louis and Carmen Gaudio.
Born in Hamden on Feb. 15, 1916, he was a son of the late Frank and Vincenza Ferrucci Gaudio. Domenic is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was a retired self-employed shoe salesman, a World War II Army veteran, member of the Disabled American Veterans and a life member of the Wallingford Elks Club B.P.O.E. #1365.
Funeral in Hamden Memorial, 1300 Dixwell Ave., Monday at 10:30 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. in St. Ann’s Church. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Burial with full military honors will take place in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Robert Marshall Vignola
Robert Marshall Vignola, 51, entered into rest eternal March 29, 2007, in Cali, Colombia. Robert is survived by his wife, Beatriz Ramos Vasquez, an attorney in Colombia, his son, Aaron Vignola, his father, Arthur Vignola, a brother, Keith Vignola and sisters June Passmore and Marge Bardelli.
Robert was a graduate of Hamden High School and attended Western Connecticut State University for two years on a music scholarship. He received an and associate's and bachelor's at the University of New Hampshire and his law degree from Oklahoma City University School of Law. Robert was an attorney, real-estate broker, mortgage financial specialist, musician, champion racquetball player and entrepreneur.
Robert has been laid to rest in Cali, Colombia. A memorial mass will be held on April 12 at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Ascension, 1040 Dunbar Hill Road, Hamden. Ida V. Parrella
Ida V. Parrella, 92, of Hamden died peacefully in her own home on April 3, 2007. Miss Parrella, daughter of the late Alfonso and Maria Esposito Parrella, was born in New Haven on June 9, 1914. She attended New Haven Normal School and Southern Connecticut State University, where she earned her master's degree in education. She was a lifelong devoted and adored teacher, having been repeatedly named “Outstanding Teacher of the Year, ” and receiving numerous and repeated accolades and commendations.
Miss Parrella was also instrumental in guiding new graduates entering the teaching profession. She was a life member of the National Teachers’ Association. Miss Parrella was a lifelong devotee of opera and an unabashed fan of Placido Domingo. She was an inveterate world traveler and after her retirement from the North Haven School District continued to visit countries all over the world and attending opera in New York City.
Miss Parrella is survived by her brother Alfred T. Parrella and his wife, Ellen, of Newtown; her sister-in-law, Lucy Parrella, of Newburyport, Mass.; her nieces Pam Parrella and husband, John Lambert, of North Haven, Patricia Allen of Beverly, Mass., and Licia Britton of Newburyport, Mass.; her nephews David Parrella and his wife, Brenda, of West Hartford, and John Parrella; and several grandnieces and grandnephews and two great grandnephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Drs. Louis A. Parrella and Gioacchino S. Parrella, and one sister, Lina R. Parrella.
