Margaret M. Haddad
Mrs. Margaret M. (Corey) Haddad, 93, of 29 Donahue Street, died Tuesday May 22, 2007 at her residence. She was the widow of Charles Haddad.
Margaret was born in Danbury on May 15, 1914, daughter of the late Solomon and Zahia "Elizabeth" (Haddad) Corey. She graduated from St. Francis Grammar School class of 1927 and Waterbury Catholic High School class of 1931, having addressed the graduating class with her valedictorian speech on June 19, 1931. In 1937 she graduated with an associate degree from the St. Mary’s School of Nursing. She then received a fellowship to attend St. Louis University in St. Louis, MO where she earned her bachelor degree. She worked as a registered nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital for several years, until her brother George Corey was called to serve in the military during WWII. Margaret then left nursing to run the family business, Corey’s Market for three years until his return. She then continued her over forty year nursing career at St. Mary’s Hospital. Margaret also taught biochemistry at St, Mary’s School of Nursing. She was a member of the Evergreen Club at St. Mary’s Hospital and the Red Hat Society. She was a charter member and long time treasurer of the Massir Ladies Charitable Club having received a proclamation for 33 years dedicated service in 1994. She was an active communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church.
Margaret leaves a son, Lou Haddad and his wife Sheri Olsen of St. Paul, MN, a daughter, Genevieve "Gen" Haddad of Alexandria, VA, several nieces, nephews, and many beloved friends. Margaret was the last of seven children. Predeceased are four brothers, Joseph Corey, William, Corey, Crien Corey and George Corey, and two sisters, Genevieve Corey and Julia Corey.
Arrangements: Burial was private. There was no calling hours. Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home 430 Chase Parkway has been entrusted with the arrangements. Family and friend are invited to a Memorial Service on Thursday June 7th, 2007 at 6 PM at Our Lady of Lebanon Catholic Church 8 E. Mountain Road, Waterbury. A repast will follow at the church hall.

Barbara Sayers
WATERBURY - Mrs. Barbara (Ensero) Sayers, 58 of Waterbury, died Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at the Silver Springs Center in Meriden after a long illness. She was the wife of Kenneth Sayers.
Barbara was born in Waterbury on November 2, 1950, daughter of the late Thomas and Grace (Denzio) Ensero. She was employed at Heritage Village until her illness.
Besides her husband she leaves two daughters: Crystal Mayers of Red Lion, PA and Renee Daggett of Shelton, a sister: Philomena Computaro of Hamden and five grandchildren.

Henry Gelinas
Prospect, CT - Mr. Henry Gelinas, 75, of 139 Boyd Drive Prospect, died Friday January 2, 2009 at St. Marys Hospital. He was the widower of Michael DiBeneditto.
Henry was born in Waterbury on August 22, 1933. He served in the US Navy. He was a chef at various restaurants and nursing homes until his retirement.
He leaves a sister in law Cynthia "Cindy" DiBeneditto and her partner Jacquie Harding of Kingston, NY and his father in law and mother in law, Michael and Mary DiBeneditto of Lantana, FL.

Mrs. Mary L. (McGrath) Mauriello, 78 of 46 Revere Street, Waterbury, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at her home. She was the wife of Orlando "Mike" Mauriello for 44 years.
Mary was known as Miss Mary was born November 2, 1930 in Burlington, Vermont, the eldest daughter of the late Harold and Leath (Wells) McGrath. She graduated from Cathedral High School on Burlington and earned her license to practice nursing at The Mary Fletcher Hospital in Burlington.
Mary lived her formative years in Burlington, until marrying Orlando "Mike" Mauriello in May of 1964 and moving to 46 Revere Street in Waterbury with her nine children. She was employed by Waterbury Hospital for several years before becoming the first Director of the St. Vincent DePaul Homeless Shelter on Benedict Street in Waterbury.
Mary was instrumental, along with the Rev. Philip Coscia with launching the States largest Homeless Shelter and manned the position of Director for 21 years. Throughout the 21 years Mary was with the shelter, she received numerous awards and recognition’s including the Waterbury Attorneys Bar Associations. Liberty Bell. Miss Mary reluctantly left her position as Director in 2005, due to her illness, without missing one day of work.
Mary and her family vacationed every year in Aruba. In 1998 Mary and her husband Mike were made Honorary Citizens of Aruba by the Aruba Parliament.
Besides her husband she leaves seven children, Donald Gadue Jr. and his wife Kathy of Milton, Vermont, Stephen Gadue and his wife Cheryl of Waterbury, John R. Gadue of Waterbury, Mike Mauriello of Thomaston, Susan Mauriello of Naugatuck, Paul Mauriello and his wife Kathy of Waterbury, John Mauriello and his wife Anna of Prospect, a brother Harry McGrath and his wife Karen of Coconut Creek, Florida, a sister, Sandra (McGrath) Bourgea and her husband Gil of South Burlington, VT, several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son Phillip Mauriello, a daughter, Melody Gadue and a brother John McGrath.
Arrangements: Funeral Tuesday 9 a.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway to Blessed Sacrament Church for a mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. WATERBURY - Lawrence T. Mates Jr., 27, known to his friends as "Superman, " died tragically early Sunday morning, May 3, 2009, in Waterbury.
He was born in Waterbury, July 14, 1981, son of Carol I. Snow, and was educated in the Waterbury school system. He worked several years for Lee's Famous Recipe and most recently as a machinist for Platt Brothers. He also worked as a professional bouncer for many local clubs, mainly the Swizzle Stick Lounge.
He was a very creative artist and he loved lifting weights and playing football with several local teams such as Pookies and the Venue.
Beside his mother, he leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Hope C. Mates and Faith M. Mates of Waterbury; two brothers, Chris Mates and wife, Monica, of Canton, and John K. "Duke" Lockwood III of Waterbury; a sister, Jazmin R. Snow of Norwich; his maternal grandmother, Ruth V. Snow, who raised him; six uncles, Ronald F. Petty Sr. of Georgia, Albert Petty Sr. and wife, Rhonda, of Virginia, Alan Petty Sr. and wife, Essie, William J. Snow Jr. and wife, Debra, Duane "Bubba" Snow of Waterbury, and Martin "Tiny" Snow of New Haven; an aunt, Holly D. Snow of Waterbury, who also raised him; three nieces, Grace, Sophia and Emma Mates of Canton; the mother of his children, Melba Rentas of Waterbury; and his companion, Shannon Doucette of Meriden. He was predeceased by grandparents, William Snow, Thomas Mates and Grace "Flagpole" Mates.
A celebration of his life will be at 11 a.m. Monday. May 11, 2009. at Rehoboth Church of God in Christ Jesus, 101 East Farm St. Calling hours at 9 a.m., family will receive friends at 10 a.m., all other times at 32 Berkeley Ave., Apt. 2-c. Burial: New Pine Grove Cemetery.

WATERBURY - Mr. Thomas James Simpson, 58, of Waterbury, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at his home.
Mr. Simpson was born April 28, 1951, in Waterbury, a son of the late Frank and Mary (Bordner) Simpson, and was a longtime Waterbury resident. He was a U.S. Army veteran and managed an antique store in Waterbury's east end for many years.
He is survived by his brothers, Frank and his wife, Joanne Simpson, of Naugatuck, James Simpson, and John and his wife, Marie Simpson, all of Waterbury, and George Simpson of Hamden; his sisters, Margaret Simpson of Wolcott, Patricia and her husband, James Shields, of Hamden, Shirley and her husband, Anthony Bridge, of Plymouth; his half brothers, Butch Simpson and Scott Simpson, both of Thomaston, and Jodi Simpson of Torrington; his half sister, Bonnie Holigan of Thomaston; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Charles, Edward and Robert Simpson.
A memorial service will be celebrated Tuesday, May 26, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of the Waterbury Baptist Ministries, 222 West Main St. Burial of cremains will follow in Calvary cemetery in Waterbury. There are no calling hours.
