John S. Gness, 60, beloved husband of Jane E. (Ormsby) Gness, of South Windsor, died Saturday (December 18, 2004) at Manchester Manor, Manchester. Born on May 25, 1944, in Peabody, MA, he had lived in South Windsor for the last 26 years. John had a long and successful retailing career beginning with Wm Filene's in MA, G. Fox in Hartford. Most recent, he was president and COO of Lunt Silversmiths Design Center, prior to that he was the president and CEO of Luettgens Limited, formerly in the Hartford Civic Center, Hartford. He was a parishioner of St. Margaret Mary Church, South Windsor. Besides his wife he leaves his mother, Virginia (Calvi) Hart and her husband, John Hart of Chatham, MA; a son, Christopher J. Gness and a daughter, Bethany J. Gness, both of South Windsor; a brother, Richard Gness of Danbury, NH; his mother-in-law, Mary E. Ormsby of South Windsor and much loved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, John Gness. Family and friends may gather Wednesday, December 22, 9:15 a.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., in St. Margaret Mary Church. BRENNAN, Elizabeth L. (Dority) Elizabeth L. (Dority) Brennan, 84, of Rockville, wife of the late Walter Brennan, passed away Wednesday, (December 1, 2004) at Rockville General Hospital. She was born April 1, 1920, in Roxbury, MA, the daughter of the late Henry R. and Sara (Griffen) Dority Formerly of Hyde Park, MA, she lived in Rockville for the past 33 years. She was a homemaker, taking care of her husband and children. Elizabeth was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, the Ladies Guild and also volunteered for numerous church functions. She loved knitting afghans which she often donated. Elizabeth is survived by her sons, Walter Brennan, Ill and his wife Kathleen of Whitman, MA, Paul Brennan and his wife Carol, Vernon; her brother, Richard Dority of Georgia; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Monday, December 6, at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church, St. Bernard Terrace, Rockville section of Vernon. Everyone is asked to meet directly at church. Interment will be private in St. Joseph's Cemetery, West Roxbury, MA. SPIELMAN, Marguerite Margie Marguerite Margie Lanz Spielman, 63, of Anderson, SC, beloved wife for 46 years of Roy D. Spielman Sr., passed away Friday, (December 3, 2004) with her husband by her side. Born in Bridgeport on Aug. 14, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Delphine Lanz. She lived in Ellington most of her life. Margie was a devoted wife and mother, loved her family and took great pride in raising their four sons. Her unique sense of humor made the impossible-possible. She and Roy moved to Anderson, SC 12 years ago. They loved to travel the back roads of America as a family. Every trip was an adventure, acquiring many memories and many friends. Besides her husband, Margie is survived by her sons, Roy D. Spielman Jr. and his wife, Brenda of Casper, WY, Jeffrey S. Spielman of Ocala, FL, James A. Spielman and his wife Betsy of Ellington, Rodney J. Spielman and his wife Tara of Venice, FL; daughter-in-law, Jody Spielman of Ellington; her seven grandchildren, Jonathan, Christie, Heather, Jenna, Michael, Shannon and Maxwell Spielman, that brought her strength and happiness. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 8, at 10:30 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church, 34 Middle Butcher Rd., Ellington. ALBRIZIO, Michael John Mickey Michael J. Mickey Albrizio, 50, of Broad Brook, formerly of Windsor, beloved husband of 20 years to Margaret Ryglisyn, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday (December 11, 2004). He was born in Worcester, MA, son of Francis J. and Constance (Magnan) Albrizio of Windsor, and had lived in Enfield, moving to Broad Brook 17 years ago. Mickey graduated from Enfield High School, received his Associate's Degree in Graphic Design from Tunxis Community College, and graduated first in his class from Porter & Chester Institute. He was employed at A.V. Associates in Storrs for 12 years, and had been a technical illustrator at N.I. Design in Farmington for the past five years. He was involved in, and wrote songs about, community environmental issues, was a member of People's Action for Clean Energy and Connecticut Opposed to Waste. Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by three brothers, Francis A. Albrizio, Daniel Albrizio and Ronald Albrizio and his wife Kathy, all of Windsor; a sister, Eileen Albrizio and her husband Wayne Horgan of Newington; his mother-in-law, Rose Ryglisyn of New Britain; two sisters-in-law, Pamela Ryglisyn of Plainville, and Antoinette Ryglisyn and her partner Martin Hollander of Mountain View, CA; and two nephews, Daniel Albrizio and Jeremi Albrizio and his wife Stephanie; three nieces, Gina and her husband Rhett Sandoval, Janet Ryglisyn, and Jill and her husband David McKnight; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and beloved friends. He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Stanley Ryglisyn; and his brother-in-law, Andrew Ryglisyn. DELLORSO. Frank M. Dellorso, 85, of Bloomfield, beloved husband of Shirley (Anderson) Dellorso passed from this life surrounded by his loving family on Friday, (December 3, 2004) at Hartford Hospital, Hartford. Born January 23, 1919 in Hartford, son of the late Raffaelo and Felicia (Cassasanta) Dellorso, he lived in Hartford before moving to Bloomfield 53 years ago. Frank served with the U.S. Navy during WWII, after the war he was employed for 23 years by Allen Manufacturing Co., in 1965 he started his own business, Deco Products Inc. in East Hartford. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 1009 Bloomfield and a former member of the Knights of Columbus. Frank was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, Bloomfield. He loved gardening, playing golf and most of all spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren perform and play sports. Besides his wife, Shirley of 62 years, he is survived by his four children, Karen Dellorso of Bloomfield, Michael Dellorso and his wife, Janet of Westford, MA, Gary Dellorso and his wife Ellen, of South Windsor, Lori Cacio and her husband, Tony of South Windsor; eight grandchildren, Scott, Matthew, Julianne and Katie Dellorso, Michael and Suzanne Dellorso, Nicole and Christopher Cacio; three sisters, Anna Towler and her husband, Arkie, Rose Higuera and Florence Bascetta all of Manchester. He was predeceased by three sisters, Lena Baldwin, Angeline Fabrizi and Annette Uricchio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, December 7, 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Wintonbury Ave., Bloomfield. Burial with military honors will be in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Joyce Kingsbury-Howe, 49, a fifteen-year resident of Wilbraham MA, the beloved wife of Dr. Robert Howe, died suddenly Wednesday, December 8, 2004 at her home. Born in Waterbury CT, on November 11, 1955, she was the daughter of Theodore and the late Irene (Lockshire) Kingsbury. Joyce was a member of the Thomaston CT High School Class of 1973, and earned a BS in Education from the University of Connecticut in 1977. In 1979, she earned her Master’s degree in Special Education from the University of Hartford, and in 1988 a Certificate for Education of the Blind from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. For several years after 1986, Joyce was the Director of Special Education at Overbrook School for the Blind in Philadelphia. She was longtime member of Covenant Congregational Church of Thomaston. Joyce enjoyed music and was a member of the Northwest Connecticut Band for thirty years, playing the bass clarinet. Besides her father Theodore Kingsbury of Thomaston, and her husband of twenty-five years Dr. Robert Howe, she leaves two sons, Benjamin and Jonathan, and two daughters, Sarah and Katherine Chan-Bee, all at home; a brother and his wife, Gary and Karen Kingsbury of Thomaston, a sister, Cheryl Cox of Texas, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Theodore Kingsbury in 1962. Funeral services will be held at the Covenant Congregational Church, 64 Grove Street, Thomaston Monday, December 13 at 11:00 AM. SALES. Minnie (Wakefield) Sales, departed this life on Tuesday, (December 21, 2004) after a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Hartford she is predeceased by her only son Armond Greene, Jr. and her 1st husband Armond Greene, Sr., also her 2nd husband Howard Sales from Akron, Ohio. She is survived by her five sister, Betty Black and her husband, Reuben of Bloomfield, Shirley Brown and Beverly Coney and her husband, William both of Hartford, Betty Logan and her husband, Logan of Albany, NY, Susanne Barrows and her husband, Harold of East Hartford; two brothers, Stewart Wakefield and his wife, Linda of Windsor, Barry Wakefield of Hartford. A devoted host of nieces, nephews, grand and great grand nieces and nephews. The family would also like to acknowledge those very special and devoted lifelong friends, too many to mention, but you know who you are. SIMMONS, Charles A. B. Charles Albert Benjamin Simmons, 80, of Windsor and Poquonock, beloved husband for 56 years of Theresa Felecitas (Cern) Simmons, passed away at home surrounded by his loving and caring family. Born in the Rainbow section of Poquonock, son of the late Ignatz and Annastasia (Twarkins) Simmons, Charles was a first generation Lithuanian and lived in Windsor all his life, traveling frequently especially after his retirements. He was a parishioner of St. Gabriel's Church in Windsor. He graduated John Fitch High School in 1942 and earned credits towards his Bachelors Degree while attending the University of Hartford and Rutgers University in New Jersey. Charles was employed for over 25 years at the Fuller Brush Company, where his persistent and goal oriented work ethic and ever seeking curiosity aided in his promotions from the manufacturing area to the chemical perfume compounding lab. Following 17 years of employment at the Connecticut Natural Gas Company, he retired as Plant Operations Manger. While at CNG he was active in the credit union and a member of the bowling league for many years. Charles was a former member of the Knights of Columbus of Windsor, and the St. Casimirs Lithuanian Society. Charlie was an avid farmer his entire life. Raising and working with farm animals and his beloved dog Baron. He loved the land, the sunshine and being outside in his garden. He had the talent to whistle and to imitate numerous bird calls often getting a response. Blooming flowers surrounded his gardens, he took pride in his most tasty vegetables, which readily sold at the farmers markets. The fruits of his endless hours of labor were evident in his bountiful yearly harvest. He was a member of the Connecticut Cooperative Farmers Association. He enjoyed the numerous family parties polka music and the UCONN girls basketball team. His initials C.S. stood for common sense, which was reflected in his creative and inventive use or reuse of most anything from hay bale twine to worn tractor tires, everything had a second and third useful function. Wise-up and use your heads for more than a hat rack and look at the positive side were frequent phrases heard from Charlie. Charlie's optimistic attitude and flare for seeking out the positive side of all situations eased his family's burden of his long - term illness. His charismatic smile and contagious sense of humor will be missed by not only his family and friends but by many of the nurses, doctors and staff that have cared for him at the UCONN Cancer Center. Besides his wife, Theresa, he is survived by a son, Richard Charles Simmons and his wife Susan A. of Suffield; five daughters, Janice Theresa and her husband Timothy J. Horan of East Granby, Charlene A. and her husband Steven J. Stosonis of Poquonock, Theresa Marie and her husband William P. McKeon of Windsor Locks, Kathleen Mary and her husband Irving Christensen of Windsor, and Patricia Henrietta Simmons and David C. Ollari of Windsor Locks; and 12 grandchildren, Julie and Charlotte Simmons, Rosemarie, Timothy and Justin Horan, Steven M. and Nathan P. Stosonis, William, Mathew, Katherine and Charles McKeon, and Jennifer Lynn Christensen. He also leaves a brother, Augustus Simmons of East Hartford; and two sisters, Amelia Kowalski and Irene Moody Rocha, both of Poquonock. He was predeceased by a son, Charles Peter Simmons; and two brothers, Benjamin Simmons, and Michael Simmons.
