Janice (Stibinger) Dube, of Vernon, joined the Angels on December 4, 2004, at Manchester Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer with family by her side. Born on June 12, 1950, she will be truly missed by her daughter, Teresa of N.H., her son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Jodie Dube of Vernon; her grandchildren, Ashley, Kyle, Stephanie, and Kaleb; her parents, Joseph Stibinger of NY, and Ester Longmore of CT; her brother, Cecil; her sisters, JoAnne, Debbie, Darlene, Robin, and Patricia; several nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins; and her ex-husband Pete Dube of N.H. A Memorial service will be held Tuesday December 7, 2004 at 10:00 am at the Union Congregational Church 3 Elm St. Vernon. Forever Janice will fly like a butterfly in the sky. WEIDLICH, Judith E. Judith E. (Thompson) Weidlich, our beloved Judy, wife, mother, sister, and friend, died peacefully at her home in South Windsor, on Saturday, (December 11, 2004) after a long and beautifully fought battle with cancer. Judy was born in Hartford on September 10, 1939, to Allen and Augustine (Bender) Thompson. Left behind to cherish memories are her loving and devoted husband of 46 years, Guy, and her three girls and their husbands, Laura and Joseph Driscoll of Somers; Lisa and Martin Zaugg of South Windsor; and Jill and William Conley of Somers. Judy was the loving grandmother of Charlie and Molly, Chelsea, Lucas and Anna, Lauren, Samuel, Ryan, Rebecca, and Nathan. She also leaves her brothers and their wives, Allen and Marie Thompson, and Gary and Priscilla Thompson. Judy was a longtime employee of the John Filloramo Construction Co., where she made many lasting friendships. Judy's deep faith and love of her church and church family were a source of great comfort. A true inspiration to all those lucky enough to have known her. Judy gave of herself, reaching out to other women, often strangers, who shared her struggle with breast cancer. A special thank you to Dr. Jonathan Sporn and her oncology nurse, Gloria Crane of St. Francis Cancer Center, along with Kathy Ostrowski and Michelle Before of St. Francis Homecare. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 11 a.m., at the First Congregational Church of South Windsor, 993 Main St., South Windsor. Burial will be private. John H. Reynolds, a resident of Seabury Meadows in Bloomfield CT, died Tuesday December 21, 2004. John was born on August 3, 1919 in Brockton MA, the son of John H. and Hazel Harris Reynolds. He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a champion backstroke swimmer at RPI. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII. He was Vice-President and General Manager of the General Electric Technical Services Company at the time of his retirement after almost forty years of employment at General Electric. This company under his leadership installed turbines and generators for electrical power plants worldwide. John is predeceased by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Betty A. Reynolds and their infant son, John Joseph. He is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Beth and Carl Horlitz of Windsor CT, and Maureen and Jim Peterson of San Diego CA. He is survived by his grandchildren, Susan Horlitz of Marblehead MA, Carl John Horlitz and his wife Kathy of Colchester CT, Daniel Horlitz and his wife Jennifer of South Hadley MA, Matthew Peterson and his wife Dovie of Provo Utah, and Daniel and John Peterson of San Diego CA; eight great-grandchildren, Carl and Julia Horlitz of Colchester CT, Eva Lewis-Horlitz of South Hadley MA, Rebecca, Lauren, Julia, Veronica, and Benjamin Peterson of Provo, Utah. In his retirement John was an active member of the Rotary of Kennebunk, ME, and Myrtle Beach, SC. He was a creative artist. He loved music, especially jazz. He and Betty enjoyed traveling abroad, especially to Dublin, Ireland and Paris, France. He was an avid golfer, playing with Betty at courses all around the world. His daughters and grandchildren treasure wonderful memories of being with him and their mom and grandma at their oceanfront home in Kennebunkport. His family wishes to thank the skilled and compassionate caregivers of Seabury Meadows. THOMAS. Irene A. Thomas, 88, of Bloomfield beloved wife of the late Curry L. Thomas, Sr., died Thursday, (December 2, 2004) at a local convalescent home. Born May 13, 1916 in DeQuincy, LA daughter of the late Joseph and Viola (Jones) Andrews, she lived in Shreveport, LA before moving to Bloomfield 25 years ago. Irene is survived by her son, Curry L. Thomas, Jr. and his wife, Willene of Canton, MI; a son-in-law, Gerald Raulinaitis and his wife, Jane of Farmington; six grandchildren, Jay Raulinaitis and his wife, Joan, Susan Tynan and her husband, James, Diane Nauss, Scott Raulinaitis and his wife, Paula, Joel Thomas, John Thomas and his wife Tracy; four great grandchildren, Taylor Nauss, Ted Nauss, Gabrielle Raulinaitis and Mason Passavant. E. David “Dave” Haber, 61, of Windsor, beloved husband of Joan (Bysko) Haber, passed away at home, Saturday (December 18, 2004), with his loved ones by his side. Dave’s sense of humor, generous spirit, and passion for friends and family will be sorely missed. He was born in Hartford, September 3, 1943, son of the late Edward and Frances (Regan) Haber. “Haber” as he was affectionately known, spent 30 years as a meat cutter in various Hartford area stores. It was during this time he developed a tremendous passion for people. Dave could talk to anyone, anywhere, at any time about anything and this skill allowed him to spread joy to others throughout his life. In 1999, Dave found his true passion and used his gifts at Community Enterprises of Windsor as a job coach. It was in this role that his unrivaled ability to relate to and bond with people served both him and his clients well. He came home from work everyday glowing with pride, knowing that he was making a difference in people’s lives. Outside of work, Dave had many interests including fishing, kayaking, camping, gardening, and boating. Haber truly loved the outdoors. He spent every possible weekend at Squam and Spofford Lakes in New Hampshire with his family, friends, and neighbors. In spite of his complexity, Dave was a simple man at heart. He reveled in the simple pleasures of a bonfire, a Schaefer, and a good story among friends and family. Dave was a loving husband, devoted father, and a good friend. He will be greatly missed by all of those he touched throughout his vibrant and wonderful life. In addition to his wife of 39 years, Dave is survived by his loving daughters; Cynthia Bragg and her husband Fred of Enfield and Cristi Donato and her husband Paul of Ithaca, NY; his brother Gregory Haber of Falls Church, VA; mother-in-law Mary Bysko of Windsor; sisters-in-law Janice Tucker and her husband Dave of Windsor and Patty O’Neill and her husband Art of Vernon; his special aunt Mary Paul and cousins Michael and Lenny. “Uncle Dave” will also be missed by his niece Heather Brunelle and nephews Bobby Tucker and Gary Brunelle. He was predeceased by his cousin Jerry. The Haber family would like to give special thanks to the “Angels” of CB5 at Hartford Hospital for their phenomenal care of Dave over the past seven months. Lloyd Calvert, 77, of Windsor, died Friday, ( December 17, 2004), at a local convalescent home. He was born June 24, 1927, in New Bedford, MA, son of the late Christopher and Nellie (Jonas) Calvert. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Jeanne (Brooks) Calvert; sons Christopher and his wife Kristine of Wethersfield; Craig and his wife Jerilyn of Houston, TX; and grandsons Christopher, Geoffrey, and Jacob. He was predeceased by his brother Raymond. Lloyd attended New Bedford schools then served in the US Navy during W.W. II. Upon discharge from the service, he received his BA from Wesleyan University, Middletown; his MA from Trinity College, Hartford; and finally his 6th Year Certificate in Education from the University of Connecticut. He taught history at Windsor High School; was a Field Representative with the Connecticut Education Association; Assistant Superintendent and Director of Secondary Education for the Hartford School System; and Superintendent of Schools in Windsor and Trumbull. He retired in 1990 as the Superintendent of Schools in West Hartford and for the next seven years he served as an educational consultant. A Memorial Service honoring his life will be held Tuesday, (December 28) at 2 PM in the Chapel of the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue, Windsor followed by military honors. His family will receive friends Tuesday from 1-2 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Private burial will be in Palisado Cemetery. BLACK, Barbara M. Barbara M. Black, 74, of Rockville, passed away Tuesday, (November 30, 2004) at Fox Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born July 26, 1930 in Bridgewater, ME she was the daughter of the late Linwood and Velma (Gallupe) Black. She was a graduate of Aroostock State University at Presque Isle and moved to the Rockville area in 1950. Barbara was a member of the Union Congregational Church where she taught Sunday school and volunteered for many church activities. She loved music, played the organ and was an active bowler. She retired from the Arthur Watson Insurance Agency after 20 years. She is survived by her brother, Lester and his wife, Dawn Black of Manchester; two nieces and a nephew; and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Carroll Black. Funeral services will be Friday, December 3, at 7 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Rd. (Rte. 83), Vernon. Calling hours will be from 4-7 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Corner Cemetery, Bridgewater, ME at the convenience of the family.
