Maria L. (Torres) Huertas, 85, a longtime resident of Hartford, passed away peacefully on Sunday (December 12, 2004). Maria was born in Puerto Rico and worked for the Family Planning Department for the City of Hartford for many years before retiring. She was a member of St. Peter's Church. Maria is survived by her children, a daughter, Millie Vazquez, and three grandchildren, Carlos, Lisa, and Joey and his wife, Maria; a son and daughter-in-law, Jose and Nancy Vazquez, and two grandchildren, Joseph and Eleonora; a son and daughter-in-law, Norberto Bert and Layda Huertas, and two grandchildren, Jason and Jessica; a son and daughter-in-law, Carlos Charlie and Angela Huertas, and four grandchildren, Andres, Anna, Victoria and Flavia; a son and daughter-in-law, Angel and Grace Huertas, and three grandchildren, Christopher, Joshua and Joseph Joey; and three precious great grandchildren, Yessenia, Alexandria and Emilio. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 16, 9 a.m., at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., at St. Peter's Church, 160 Main St., Hartford. Burial will follow in Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. Maria's Family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Jefferson House, 144 Main Street, East Hartford, CT 06118 or to Manchester Manor, 385 W. Center St., Manchester, CT 06040. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Layda Huertas, her daughter-in-law, for the many years of care and support she gave to Maria. Layda has our eternal love and gratitude. We owe her more than words can ever express. The family also extends thanks to all the staff at Manchester Manor for taking such good care of her and being there when she needed them.

Josephine H. (Tracy) Longley, 92, of Windsor, widow of James Nelson Longley, died Thursday, (December 23, 2004), at a local convalescent home. Born in New Brunswick, NJ, daughter of the late Arthur and Maybelle (Crosley) Tracy, she lived in New Jersey, Vermont and the past 50 years in Windsor. She was a member of Ionic Chapter OES and had been a caregiver to children throughout her neighborhood in West Hartford. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and spent over ten years in the West Palm Beach area of Florida with her late husband. She leaves two sons Kenneth E and his wife Pat Longley of CourD’Alene, ID and James N. Longley, who was her primary care-giver and his wife Carol of Windsor Locks; a daughter Marlene Ann and her husband Adelard Lessard of Newington; a sister Ethel Robins of Brattleboro, VT; nine grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother Arthur Tracy and two sisters Evelyn Zeitler and Ida Cubitt. Her family will receive friends Monday, (December 27) from 6 to 7:30Pm at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue, Windsor followed by an Eastern Star Service at 7:30PM. REGAN, Patricia E. (Greenwood) Patricia E. Regan, 57, of South Windsor, died Tuesday, (December 14, 2004) at home. Born in Norwalk on December 1, 1947, daughter of Ralph S. Greenwood of South Windsor, and the late Helen (Mayes) Greenwood, she had lived in Norwalk and Cheshire before moving to South Windsor. Besides her father, she leaves a daughter, Casie J. Regan of Baltimore, MD; a son, Jeffrey A. Regan of Crested Butte, CO and a sister and her husband, Gail and David King of South Windsor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Saturday, 10 a.m., in St. Margaret Mary Church, 80 Hayes Rd., South Windsor, with burial in Wapping Cemetery, South Windsor. WALTERS. Christine (Longridge) Walters, 78, of Windsor, beloved wife of 48 years to the late Theodore Walters, died Friday, (December 3, 2004) at Hartford Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born April 11, 1926 in Detroit, MI daughter of the late James and Mary (Clarke) Longridge, she lived in Michigan before moving to Windsor 58 years ago. She served with the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. Christine is survived by her four daughters, Linda Burke and her husband, Thomas of Madison, Sandra Gresham of Guilford, Susan Moschetto and her husband, Peter of Enfield, Patricia DeFranzo and her husband, Tom of Windsor; her eight grandchildren who brought much joy to her life, Ted and Katie Gresham, Michael and Lindsay Burke, Molly and Michael Moschette, Kayley and Andrew DeFranzo; a brother, James Longridge of Dearborn, MI. The center of her life was always her home and family, she was much loved and will be greatly missed. FOX, Harold Edward
Harold Edward Fox, 83, of Bloomfield, beloved husband of Evelyn C. Fox, died on Wednesday, (December 1, 2004) at St. Francis Hospital. Harold was born in Plainville, son of the late Fred and Gertrude L. (Dow) Fox, and lived in Bloomfield for the past 52 years. Harold graduated from Plainville High School in 1939 and sang the class song at his 65th Class Reunion in September 2004. He graduated from Morse College in 1941 and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. Harold was an accountant at O’Neill’s Chevrolet in Avon for over 20 years, retiring in 1983. He was an active member of the First Congregational Church in Bloomfield, serving as church treasurer for 25 years, treasurer of the nursery school, past deacon, and served on several church boards. He enjoyed family time, traveling, sailing, singing, woodworking, and growing apple trees at his home. He was a summer resident at Highland Lake in Winsted for more than 70 years and attended and sang at the Winsted United Methodist Church. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Robert W. Fox and his wife Pamela of Carlisle, MA, and William C. Fox and his wife Karen of Niwot, CO; a daughter, Elaine C. and her husband Richard O’Reilly of Windsor; five grandsons, Russell Fox, Kevin Fox, Peter Fox, Andrew O’Reilly and Timothy O’Reilly; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Nelson of New Britain; and two nephews, John and Ernest Nelson. He was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Ernest A. Nelson. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 6, 2:30 p.m., at the First Congregational Church in Bloomfield. His family will receive friends in the parish hall following the service. Burial, with Military Honors, will be private in Mountain View Cemetery, Bloomfield. Steven D. Flash Boykin, 50, of South Windsor, died Tuesday, (December 21, 2004) at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Born in Hartford on November 6, 1954, son of the late, Joan (Sazinski) Queen, he had lived in South Windsor for most of his life. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of South Windsor. Before retiring he was employed as a mechanic by Richard's Mobil and Village Corvette, both of Glastonbury. He leaves his stepfather, Howard Queen, Jr., of South Windsor; his uncle, Joseph Sazinski, Jr., of South Windsor; cousins, aunts and uncles and a good friend, Paulie Mott of Manchester. Besides his mother he was predeceased by a brother, Nathan Boykin, Jr., and his grandparents, Joseph, Sr., and Betty Sazinski. Funeral service will be held, Thursday, 1 p.m., at the First Congregational Church, 993 Main St., South Windsor, with the Rev. David Snyder, officiating. GRAY, MaryLou (Moser) MaryLou (Moser) Gray, 80, beloved wife of the late Leslie Stewart Gray passed away peacefully Saturday, (December 4, 2004) at the Glastonbury Health Care Center. Born in Winston-Salem, NC she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mamie (Holder) Moser and has lived in North Carolina for most of her life, recently residing in Glastonbury and The Village at Buckland Court, South Windsor for the past four years. During her occupational years she was employed with the Summit School in North Carolina for many years up until her retirement. She was a longtime member of the Mt. Tabor Methodist Church in Winston-Salem, NC. She will be deeply missed by her loving family. She is survived by her two daughters, Deborah Jekkals of Ellington, and Dana Gray and her husband, Steven Chavez of Reno, NV; two granddaughters, Heather Ram and her husband, Allan of Durham, and Kristen Noelle Hatcher and her husband, Cornell of Manchester; a great-grandchild, Jocelyn Ram; and a son-in-law, Dave Rutter of Chapel Hill, NC. She was predeceased by a daughter, Ellen Melissa (Gray) Rutter. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 7 at 1 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Rd.
