Carol Ann (Barto) (Porter) Bauby

Harwinton – Carol Ann (Barto) (Porter) Bauby, 71, of Harwinton, died unexpectedly Sunday May 13, 2018 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington. She was the wife of Thomas J. Bauby.
Carol was born in Waterbury, daughter of the late William Barto and Phyllis (Stauffer) (Barto) Brade. She was educated in Watertown schools and graduated from Watertown High School, Class of 1964. She retired as the Office Manager and a Dental Assistant to the late Roger V. Ostrander, Sr., DDS and more recently to Roger V. Ostrander, Jr. DDS.
Carol joined the Daughters of the American Revolution in Dec. 1999, and within a short time she began her long history of involvement in the DAR. She started helping women join the Trumbull-Porter Chapter DAR even before she became the chapter registrar in 2001; she continued helping many over the years serving the chapter and state in many capacities doing her genealogy work. Carol became the Chapter Vice Regent and then in 2007, became the Chapter Regent and Treasurer. At the state level she served as CTDAR Membership Chair, and the National Division Vice Chair of Membership for the Northeastern Region. At the same time, she also served as the State Organizing Secretary. Carol continued to serve both the chapter and state societies becoming the CTDAR State Registrar, Honorary Chapter Regent, State Recording Secretary, State Chair of Lineage Research and Volunteer Genealogists. When asked to help Carol responded, serving as mentor for many women in various capacities in the DAR. She served as National Division Vice Chair for the Northeastern Region for the Junior American Citizens art contest. At the time of her death Carol was the CTDAR State Parliamentarian, State Chair of Membership and State Co-Chair of Volunteer Genealogists. Throughout all her time as a member, Carol was involved helping others with their genealogy, not only in the DAR but also in many other lineage societies and volunteered at the Harwinton Library and Connecticut State Library in Hartford. She is credited with having assisted over 95 women to become a member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Carol was a member of the CT State Society Daughters of the American Colonists. She became a member June 30, 2012, national number 39128, and only a year later was elected State Registrar at the May 20, 2013 State Assembly. She held this office until her death. She was also a member of the Mayflower Society.
Carol was an avid birder and loved the ocean, was a great cook and wonderful grandmother.
Besides her husband of 23 years she is survived by a son, Jeffrey Porter and his fiancé Sonny Outhavong of Morris, a sister, Deborah Volovski and her husband Joel of Northfield, 2 brothers, Bruce Barto of Vernon and Bill Barto of Florida, 3 grandchildren, Eliza, Benjamin and Harrison Porter and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are Thursday May 17, 2018 at the Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow St., Waterbury from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The DAR will conduct a service at 7:45 p.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to “The Old Burying Ground" in Watertown, checks payable to Trumbull-Porter Chapter DAR, c/o Katherine Gabrielson, 157 Heritage Drive, Naugatuck, CT 06770.

Neil P. Mulhall

WATERBURY - Neil P. Mulhall, age 58, of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, April 13, 2017. He was the former husband of Janice (Severson) Mulhall of Waterbury.
Neil was born December 29, 1958 in Waterbury, the loving son of Francis J. and Barbara (Traver) Mulhall. He graduated from SS. Peter & Paul Grammar School and Crosby High School, class of 1977.
Neil was employed for many years at Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford. He later on worked at the telephone company, beginning as SNET, then later on AT&T in Waterbury. He was also an entrepreneur as the owner of East Enders Café for a period of time.
Neil’s passion in life was cooking. He spent hours at the grill, and even more hours picking out the right steak at Stop and Shop. He cherished the memories of the many summers in Virginia Beach with his family. Neil was a devout Cowboys fan, watching year after year, win or lose.
Besides his parents of Waterbury, and former wife, Neil survived by his daughters Amy Elizabeth Mulhall of Stamford CT, Kathleen Lynn Mulhall of Waterbury CT, and Alison Charlotte Mulhall of Waterbury CT, and his only son and daughter-in-law Mr. Neil Patrick Mulhall, Jr. and Liomary Mulhall of Waterbury. He also leaves behind his only granddaughter, Valerie Sophia Mulhall. Neil also is survived by his sisters, Eileen and her husband David Pescetelli of Wolcott, Bridget and her husband James Bothroyd of Thomaston, his brothers, Stephen and his wife Donna Mirabilio of Prospect, Thomas and his wife Mary of Waterbury, and Michael and his wife Anna of Fairfield. Neil is also survived by several nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph F. Mulhall and his nephew, Marc Francis Mulhall.
Funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 10 a.m. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow St. to SS. Peter & Paul Church, 67 Southmayd Road for a Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral.
