Helen F. Stevens
WATERBURY - Helen F. (Felsmann) Stevens, 95, formerly of 95 Clyde St., Waterbury, died Sunday October 19, 2014 at Manchester Manor in Manchester. She was the widow of John W. Stevens.
Mrs. Stevens was born in Bridgeport November 6, 1918 daughter of the late Max and Catherine (O'Brien) Felsmann and was in the first graduating class of Bassick High School, Class of 1936 in Bridgeport. She was a former employee of Bryant Electric of Bridgeport and a retired employee of Travelers Insurance. She had been a longtime communicant of St. Mary Magdalen Church of Oakville and a member of the Catholic Women’s Society of the parish.
Mrs. Stevens is survived by 2 sons; Dr. James J. Stevens of Meriden and Deacon Mark J. Stevens and his wife Cecelia of Waterbury, 2 daughters; Susan (Stevens) Wilson and her husband William of Clifton Park, NY and Lisa (Stevens) Baker and her husband Raymond of Manchester, 6 grandchildren: Brian Wilson, Kim (Wilson) Blaes and her husband Jonathan, Megan (Wilson) Valdeon and her husband Pete, Katie Baker and her fiancé Trevor, Jenni Baker and her boyfriend Dave, and David Baker, 4 great grandchildren; Lauren, Madison, Grace and Emma, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by an infant son, John Stevens.
The funeral will be Wednesday October 22, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow St., Waterbury to the Church Of The Epiphany, 1750 Huckins Road, Cheshire for a Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in New St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Sophie Rahuba
Sophie Rahuba, 82, of 687 Willow St., died unexpectedly on March 15, 2012 at her home.
Sophie was born in Waterbury on Feb. 8, 1930, daughter of the late Roman and Agnes (Skrinar) Rahuba and went to Leavenworth High School. She retired from Unisys Corporation and had worked there for 17 years. Sophie was a member of the Holy Virgin Mary Orthodox Church.
Survivors are her brother, Dennis Rahuba of Waterbury, two nieces and two nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Agnes Rahuba and two brothers, John and Michael Rahuba.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday March 21, 2012 at 10:00 am at the Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow St. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Orthodox Cemetery. Calling hour is Wednesday from 9:00 am until the time of the service.

Alvira C. (Levenavicius) Romanauskas
WATERBURY - Alvira C. (Levenavicius) Romanauskas, 86, of Waterbury died Friday January 20, 2012 after a brief illness. She was the widow of Stanley J. Romanauskas.
Mrs. Romanauskas was born in Waterbury November 22, 1925 daughter of the late Epolitas and Gertrude (Yesavage) Levenavicius and had been a lifelong Waterbury resident. She was a graduate of Waterbury Catholic High School.
Mrs. Romanauskas retired from the former Doval Tool and Manufacturing Company in Naugatuck where she had worked as a secretary for many years. Mrs. Romanauskas enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was a longtime communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church.
She is survived by her son, Stanley M. Romanauskas and his wife Rosemary of Watertown and her niece, Priscilla Oliver of Chatham, MA. She was predeceased by her sisters, Anastasia Dukich and Josephine Levenavacius.
Funeral will be held Tuesday January 24 at 9:00 a.m. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow Street to Blessed Sacrament Church, 182 Robbins Street for a Mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Esther V. Brown
WATERBURY - Esther V. Brown, 94, formerly of 119 Store Ave., died Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at the Cheshire House.
Esther was born in Waterbury June 22, 1917 daughter of the late Daniel and Margaret (Fulham) Brown. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart Grammar and High School’s and St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing. She worked in the nursery at St. Mary’s Hospital and later trained in anesthesia at the hospital to become a Certified Register Nurse Anesthetist. She retired from the hospital operating room as a nurse anesthetist in 1982.
Esther was a member of the St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association, the American & Connecticut Association of Nurse Anesthetists, a communicant of S.S. Peter & Paul Church and a member of the Madonna Guild of the parish. She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the A.O.H. and was an avid reader, enjoyed sewing, knitting, travelling, and had been a caregiver for her sister and nieces.
Esther is survived by her nieces and nephews; Marian Huckins, Carol Johnston, Sandra Bartolini, Judith Johnston, Margaret Brick, Robert Johnston, Richard Johnston, Gerald Johnston, and Michael Johnston, and several grand nieces and nephews among them Meghan and Kathleen Huckins. She was predeceased by 3 sisters; Gertrude Burke, Eileen Villemure, Kathleen Johnston, and 1 brother; Lincoln Brown, and a nephew; James Johnston, Jr. and a niece; Kathleen Lamantini.
The funeral will be Saturday April 14th at 8:30 am from the Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow St. to S.S. Peter & Paul Church, 67 Southmayd Rd. for a Mass at 9:00 am. Burial will be in New St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 8:00 am until 8:30 am.

Katherine P. (Carroll) Garry
WATERBURY - Katherine P. (Carroll) Garry, 64, of Waterbury, died unexpectedly at her home Sunday, March 25, 2012.
Katherine was born in Waterbury July 23, 1947, daughter of the late James E. and Mary Elizabeth (McVerry) Carroll and was a lifelong Waterbury resident having graduated from Blessed Sacrament Grammar School, Class of 1961, Waterbury Catholic High School, Class of 1965, and St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing.
Katherine formerly had worked at Surgical Associates of Waterbury for 38 years and was currently employed with Dr. Peter Zdankiewicz in Southbury.
Katherine was an avid reader, enjoyed spending time with her family, and was devoted to her 4 grandchildren. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Loreto Church.
Katherine is survived by her longtime boyfriend, Joseph Provenzano, her 3 sons, Robert W. Garry and his wife Jill of Bristol, Michael S. Garry and his wife Angela of Southington, John R. Garry of Morro Bay, CA, and her 4 grandchildren, Matthew, Tyler, Aidan, and Morgan. Also survived by her 6 brothers and sisters, James Carroll and his wife Maureen of VA, Joanne Lasbury and her husband Robert of Southington, Michael Carroll and his wife Marion of Waterbury, Maureen Marino and her husband Phil of Lynbrook, NY, Claire Sullivan and her husband Robert of Madison, and Edward Carroll and his wife Nancy of Walpole, MA, and her brother-in-law, Frank Antin and his wife Deb of Mattapoisett, MA. Katherine was predeceased by her sister, Mary Beth Antin and her sister-in-law, Betty Carroll.
Funeral will be Friday, March 30, 2012 at 9 a.m. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow Street, Waterbury to Our Lady of Loreto Church, 12 Ardsley Road, Waterbury for a Mass at 10 a.m. Burial in Calvary cemetery at the convenience of the family. Charles Edward Harris
Red Sox, Patriots, & Lady Huskies Fan
NAUGATUCK – Mr. Charles (Charlie) Edward Harris, 72, of Conrad St. passed away February 2, 2012 surrounded by his family at Glendale Health Center.
Charlie was born January 15, 1940 in Springfield, IL the son of the late Walter R. and Margaret (Conley) Harris.
Charlie loved to square dance, spending time with his family and his friends on Conrad St. where he loved the monthly outing. He served in the US Army and was a dedicated Red Sox, Patriots and Lady UCONN Huskies fan. He was a communicant of St. Francis Church in Naugatuck.
Charlie leaves his son; Charles A. Harris and his wife Valerie of Naugatuck, daughters; Robin L. Tedesco and her husband Ken of Wolcott and Michele A. Avery of Arvada, CO, and 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Charlie also leaves 3 brothers and four sisters: Dora Spada of West Hartford, Hazel Mercier of Torrington, John Harris and his wife Kathy of Waterbury, Walter Harris of Martinsville, VA, Margaret Taylor and her husband Tom of Waterbury, James Harris and his wife Addie of Oakville, and Rosemary Monaghan and her husband Gregory of Waterbury. Also 2 sister-in-laws: Delores Harris of Waterbury and Aceli Harris of Oakville and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
Charlie was predeceased by a sister, Gladys Cipollone Gaudiosi, 3 brothers; Thomas, Joseph, and David Harris, a brother-in-law, Frank Mercier and a great nephew, Maurice Shugrue.
Calling hours are Monday February 6th at the Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow Street, Waterbury from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. There will be a prayer service Monday at 5:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Watertown at the convenience of the family.

James "Jimmy" F. McDonnell
WATERBURY - James "Jimmy" Francis McDonnell, 58, passed away unexpectedly on January 3, 2012 at Waterbury Hospital.
Born July 8, 1953 in New York, NY, Jimmy and his family later moved to his mother's hometown of Waterbury. He graduated from Blessed Sacrament Grammar School in 1967 and from Kennedy High School in 1971. Jimmy Mac took over his father's business, A & J Superette in Middlebury in 1973 which he ran for several years. Jimmy, also known as "Sweaters" was employed by the Metro North Railroad for many years where he shared his Irish wit and charm with everyone he met. In spite of his devilish demeanor, he will be most remembered for his generous ways and irreverent humor.
Jimmy is survived by his mother Ann (Bollard) McDonnell, his brother Joseph and sister Eileen. Jimmy also leaves behind his cousins Susan Simons and Sandi Buono and many other cousins in New York, Maryland and Canada. Jimmy was predeceased by his father Joseph V. McDonnell. Jimmy will be missed by his countless lifelong friends and acquaintances.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday January 7th at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 182 Robbins Street Robbins Street. Friends and family are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday January 6th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow Street.
