Elizabeth Barton
Elizabeth (Keating) Barton, 73, of 41 Tamarack Ave., Danbury, wife of Robert Barton Sr., died at Bethel Health Care Center on Wednesday.
She was born in Danbury, August 5, 1925, a daughter of the late Edward and Julia (Kerwin) Keating. She was a graduate of St. Peter School and Danbury High School.
Before her 1987 retirement, Mrs. Barton worked as an inspector for the Barden Corporation for 26 years.
She was a member of St. Joseph Church.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Robert Barton Jr. of Vermont; three daughters, Barbara Obringer of New Fairfield, Nancy Hayes of Newtown, and Joan Grilley of Danbury; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, on Saturday at 10 a.m.
Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery.

Dominick Ferry
Dominick Ferry, 92, of Sharon, Conn., died Monday, January 25 at Sharon Hospital.
Mr. Ferry was born May 9, 1906 in New York City, youngest of 14 children of Joseph Ferry and Teresa Briganti Ferry. He grew up in New York City, was educated, married and lived there and worked as an electrician at Sperry Rand, a division of Ford Instrument Company until he retired in 1972. After his retirement he and his wife moved to Wappingers Falls, N.Y. where they lived until 1984. Since 1984 he and his wife shared a home with their eldest daughter in Sharon. Mr. Ferry resided there until his death.
He leaves his beloved wife and dearest friend Marie (Trentacosta) Ferry to whom he was married for 57 years, four daughters, Dona Ferry of Sharon, Georgene Limato of Cheshire, Rita Bentivegna of Staten Island, N.Y., and Paula F. Boccia of Poughquag, one granddaughter and six grandsons.
He was predeceased by all his sisters and brothers except his youngest sister Viola DiCarluccio of Florida.
Calling hours will be at Kenny Funeral Home on Route 41 in Sharon, on Thursday, Jan. 28 from 7 to 9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Jan. 29 at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard's Church in Sharon.
Burial will be at St. Dennis Cemetery in Beekman, N.Y.

June Culhane
June Culhane, 77, of 16 Clearbrook Rd., Bethel, wife of the late Edward Culhane, died at the Danbury Hospital on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999.
She was born in Danbury, June 30, 1921, daughter of Walter and Anna (Rowley) Slaving. She had been a life time Danbury-Bethel resident and had attended Danbury schools.
Mrs. Culhane is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Kevin Cleary, a granddaughter, Shannon Cleary, all of Bethel, a sister, Arlene Slaving of Danbury and several nieces and nephews.

Annette E. Wolter
Annette E. Wolter, 86, of Covenant Village, Missionary Road died Sunday, January 24, 1999 at Pilgrim Manor in Cromwell.
She was born in Danbury, October 9, 1912, a daughter of Reinhold and Augusta Neubaurer Wolter. She was a graduate of the Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing and Columbia University School of Physical Therapy. For many years she was employed as a physical therapist for the State of Connecticut until her retirement. She was also a longtime resident of Old Lyme.
She leaves six nieces Deborah Arconti of Danbury, Susan Bourne of Oakdale, Linda Carlson of New Milford, Margaret Foreman of Vermont, Jeannne Garney of New Milford, Patricia Golden of Milford and two nephews John Wolter Jr. of Charlotte, N.C., and Ronald Wolter of Oxford; and sister-in-law of Bertha Wolter of Oakdale. She was predeceased by three brothers Ray, Henry and John Wolter.
Funeral services will be held Saturday Jan. 29, 1999 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Robert Treat Parkway, Milford. Interment will be private. Arrangements are in care of the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green.
Susan Dorothy Rajcok
Susan Dorothy (Plue) Rajcok, 83 of Currituck Road, Newtown died. She was the widow of Andrew Rajcok, a Newtown builder. Mrs. Rajcok was a graduate of Danbury High School and trained for her R.N. at Danbury Hospital where she was employed upon graduation. Mrs. Rajcok and her husband devised Fluorocite, the first Fluoride Dentifrice in 1948.
Mrs. Rajcok leaves great-grandchildren, Kiah and Christopher DeVona, her granddaughter Katrina DeVona of Southington. She leaves her son Andrew of Newtown, and her brother and sister-in-law Steven and Anna Krizan of Danbury.
Services are private and at the convenience of the family.

Wallace A. Wheeler
Wallace A. Wheeler, 87, of Port Orange, Fla., formerly of 44 Merrimac St., Danbury, died January 24, 1999.
He was born August 15, 1911 in Bethel and moved to Florida in 1980. He worked at Eaton Corp. before his retirement.
He is survived by two sons, Wallace G. Wheeler and William E. Wheeler, both of Port Orange; six daughters, Nancy Hosford, Phyllis Noonan, Ruthann Wrobel, Donna Schmidt and Kathy Ayers, all of Port Orange, and Susan Collins of Gaston, S.C.; 20 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Wheeler was predeceased by one daughter, Maureen Grippin.
Services were held in Florida.
Bertha R. Peters
Bertha R. Peters, age 88, of Richmond, Va., formerly of Wilton, Conn. and Raymond, Maine, widow of Walter V. Peters of Wilton and Stephen S. Hopkins of Danbury, Conn., died January 27, 1999.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Arnold D. Russell. She is survived by three daughters, Patricia Lorraine Peters, Pamela Peters Caldwell and her husband William H. Caldwell, Dianne Peters Russell and her husband George Edgar Russell; a brother, John L. Russell of Fredericksburg, Texas and his wife Dorothy Russell; two grandchildren, Adam Russell and Jeffrey Peters Caldwell; step-grandson Christopher D. Caldwell; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Peters was a member of the Mary Wooster Chapter, DAR of Danbury, Conn. and also was a member of Wilton Congregational Church in Wilton, Conn. and the First Church of Christ Congregational in Glastonbury, Conn.
The family received friends Thursday, 7 to 8:30 p.m., at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Road, Richmond, Va., where services will be held Friday at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be in Danbury, Conn.
June Culhane

Mildred L. Fairclough
The death of Mildred L. Fairclough, 85, of 100 Stony Hill Road, Brookfield, occurred at the Danbury Hospital on Thursday afternoon, January 28, 1999. She was the wife of the late Joseph L. Fairclough.
She was born in Portage Lake, Maine on December 16, 1913, daughter of the late Rex and Flossie Giona Plummer. She came to Connecticut at the age of 14 and lived in Georgetown, where she received her education. She and her husband moved to Brookfield in 1930 where they were caretakers at the former Foots Farm, later moving to Stony Hill Road. She was a member of the Brookfield Congregational Church.
Surviving are a son, Everett Fairclough of Hoosick Falls, N.Y.; a daughter, Allayne L. Bower of Sarasota, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Brookfield Congregational Church Saturday, 7 p.m., with the Rev. Peter Wiley, Pastor, officiating. Cremation will take place at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.

Scott Santa-Maria
Scott Santa-Maria, 30, of 15 Brooks Lane, Brookfield, a police officer for the Bethel Police Department for the past 11 years, died in Brookfield on Tuesday, January 26, 1999 of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
He was born in Danbury, March 13, 1968, a son of Benedict and Sandra (Carson) Santa-Maria. He was a graduate of Brookfield High School, Class of 1987 and had attended the University of Connecticut.
While on the Bethel police force he received several awards, including the National Silver Star for Bravery, the Wounded in Combat Cross, the Chiefs citation for Meritorious Service, Police Officer of the Year and a citation for Outstanding Community Service from the Connecticut General Assembly.
He also served as a state representative from the 107th District, which includes Brookfield and northern Bethel. He was elected to the position in 1994 and re-elected in 1996 and 1998. He was ranking House Republican Member of the General Assembly's Labor and Public Employees Committee and a member of the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee and the Judiciary Committee. He was also a member of the Bonding Subcommittee of the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee, which is responsible for developing the state's annual capital budget. He previously served on the Environment Committee and the Banks Committee.
Santa-Maria also served as a marine police officer on Lake Lillinonah for Brookfield for eight years. He was also a state-certified emergency medical technician and served with the Brookfield Volunteer Department. He served two terms as captain, supervising the ambulance service for Brookfield.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sisters, Lynne Santa-Maria Beardsley of New Milford, Kristiann Santa-Maria of Charlottesville, Va. and her husband James McClung, and Jennifer Santa-Maria of Bradley Beach, N.J.; his paternal grandmother, Stella Santa-Maria of Florida; two foster sons, Colin Delaney and Tyler Delaney, both of Brookfield; a niece, Lauren Beardsley of New Milford and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church in Brookfield on Friday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Central Cemetery, Brookfield.

Charles Klaussner Jr.
Charles W. Klaussner Jr., 68, a resident of Danbury for more than 30 years, died Jan. 26, 1999 in Danbury.
He was born in White Plains, N.Y., April 8, 1930, a son of Charles W. and Caroline Dexheimer Klaussner. He was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in Katonah.
Before moving to Danbury, Mr. Klaussner lived in Brewster.
He was employed for more than 30 years as a maintenance engineer at Heli-Coil Co. in Danbury. Mr. Klaussner retired in 1996.
He is survived by a sister, Nancy Durkin of Brewster; nine nieces and nephews; 15 grandnieces and grandnephews; and 16 great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
A Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Lawrence O'Toole Church, Brewster. Burial will take place in St. Lawrence O'Toole Cemetery.
Calling hours are Friday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster.

Raymond Knecht
Raymond Knecht died January 19, 1999 in Tampa, Fla. He lived in Easton, Monroe and Brookfield before moving to Tampa six years ago.
Mr. Knecht was born November 4, 1928 in Trumbull, Conn., the son of the late Alwin and Katherine (Madnalowski) Knecht.
He is survived by one son, Thomas Knecht of Washington, Conn.; three daughters, Susan Reardon of Branford, Conn., Judy Pastor of Shelton, Conn. and Jeanne Ober of Huntington, Conn.; four grandsons, Jake and Jared Knecht and Brandon and Cody Ober; one granddaughter, Nicole Pastor; two sisters, Beatrice Thompson and Lillian Townsend; two brothers, Edward Knecht and Daniel Knecht; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, 10 a.m., at Good Shepherd Church, 466 Elm St., Monroe, Conn.

Vincent Horan
Vincent Horan, 85, of Syracuse, N.Y., formerly of Danbury and New Milford, died at Veterans Hospital in Syracuse on Wednesday, January 27, 1999.
He was born in Danbury on January 9, 1914, son of the late William F. and Mary (Krupinsky) Horan, and attended Danbury schools.
Mr. Horan served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he served in the Asiatic Pacific theater. He worked for the State of Connecticut for 20 years, where he was an inspector of weights and measures.
He is survived by a sister, Christine Smith, of Syracuse and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church on Monday at 9 a.m. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery.

Julia Szanitter
The death of Julia Szanitter, 95, of 65 Old Ridgebury Road, Danbury, occurred at the Glen Hill Convalescent Center Thursday. She was the wife of the late Albert Szanitter,
Born in Forberg, Czechoslovakia, she was the daughter of Paul and Suzanna Roth Greisiger. She received her education there and was a graduate of High School. She came to the United States in 1949.
Mrs. Szanitter lived in Bethel for 27 years, moving to Danbury three years ago to make her home with her daughter, Emma Feulner.
She had been employed in the Winding Department of Davis and Geck for 13 years, retiring in 1965. Her later years were devoted to her home.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Bethel Senior Citizens. She was a former member of the Ladies Aid Society of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Besides her daughter, she is survived by a grandson, John Feulner of New Milford; a granddaughter, Doris Feulner Johnson of Reno, Nev.; a great-granddaughter, Kiley S. Feulner of New Milford; a son-in-law, Paul Zoellkau of Newtown; and several nieces and nephews in Europe. She was pre-deceased by a daughter, Jolan Zoellkau.
Funeral services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Daniel Wehmeier, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
