Nancy (Caulfield) Brennan

CHESHIRE - Nancy (Caulfield) Brennan, 78, of Cheshire, formerly of Waterbury, died Friday, March 23, 2012, after a brief illness at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was the widow of James J. Brennan.
Mrs. Brennan was born in Waterbury December 23, 1933, daughter of the late Robert and Mae (Frey) Caulfield and had been a Waterbury resident most of her life. She graduated from St. Francis Grammar School, Waterbury Catholic High School and attended the University of Connecticut and Southern Connecticut State University where she received her Master's Degree in Education.
Mrs. Brennan was a Schoolteacher in the Waterbury School System where she taught at Maloney and Mary Abbott Schools, before retiring from North End Middle School. She was a communicant of St. Bridget Church in Cheshire.
Mrs. Brennan is survived by her 3 daughters, Sue O’Grady of Stamford, Patsy Ahearn of Longmeadow, MA, Eileen Leibowitz of Cheshire, her brother Richard Caulfield of Litchfield, and her daughter-in- law, Rose Brennan of Waterbury and 7 grandchildren, KJ, Connor and Maggie O’Grady, Brian and Patrick Ahearn, Annie Brennan, and Abby Leibowitz. Mrs. Brennan was predeceased by her son, Michael J. Brennan, her daughter, Jane Brennan, and her brother Robert Caulfield.
Funeral will be held Wednesday, March 28th, at 10:30 a.m. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow Street to St. Bridget Church, 175 Main Street, Cheshire for a Mass at 11a.m. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral.

Helen Marie (Duhamel) Gaylord
Loving Mother
WATERBURY - Helen Marie (Duhamel) Gaylord, 86, of Easton Ave. passed away in her sleep Monday January 2, 2012 at her home. She was the wife of the late George H. Gaylord.
Mrs. Gaylord was born in Waterbury September 15, 1925 daughter of the late Charles and Catherine (Mcsweeney) Duhamel. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Margaret Church. After her retirement she and her husband traveled together until his death in 1988.
Mrs. Gaylord is survived by her loving daughter Helen Catherine Palomba, and her son, George Charles Gaylord, both of Waterbury. She loved her 4 grandchildren, Michelle, Tonya, Sarah, Stephanie, and 4 great grandchildren, Ashley, Rebecca, Damian, and Spencer along with many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Gaylord was predeceased by her sister, Catherine Duhamel and her in laws, Harold and Elsie Gaylord.
Funeral will be held Friday January 6 at 9:30 a.m. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow Street to St. Margaret Church, 289 Willow Street for a Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral.

George W. Barnhardt
Retired College Professor
Mr. George William Barnhardt, age 93, of Waterbury, a retired university professor and U. S. Air Force officer, died peacefully in his sleep February 9, 2012. He was the husband of Katherine Soricelli Barnhardt, who preceded him in death in 1994 after more than 50 years of marriage.
Mr. Barnhardt was born in Waterbury CT, son of the late Frank and Grace Garrison Barnhardt. He was a graduate of Leavenworth High School and from the Teachers College of Connecticut at New Britain. He received a Masters degree in educational supervision from New York University, and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study from the University of Hartford. He also completed graduate courses at Yale University, the University of Connecticut, and Eastern Michigan University.
In addition to his academic pursuits, Mr. Barnhardt obtained a Private Pilots License as part of the Civilian Pilot Training Program prior to World War II. During his military service, Mr. Barnhardt rose from Private to Lieutenant Colonel in the U. S. Air Force. After the War, he joined the Connecticut Air National Guard and retired after 23 years of service. During that time he worked for the Veterans Administration and served as the United States Air Force Academy Liaison Officer for the State of Connecticut. Even when retired, Mr. Barnhardt continued his commitment to the country's defense by becoming a certified teacher of Radiological Monitoring in the State of Connecticut.
A much loved teacher, Mr. Barnhardt taught Industrial Arts Education at the elementary and secondary level in the Waterbury School system for seventeen years. He also served as a Supervisor of Industrial Arts Education. In 1968, Mr. Barnhardt accepted a position as Assistant Professor in the School of Technology at Central Connecticut State University where he taught and supervised student teachers until his retirement as an Associate Professor in 1982. Following his retirement, he worked as a consultant with the Connecticut State Department of Education.
Committed to public service, Mr. Barnhardt served as Commissioner of the Waterbury Parks and Recreation Board, Chairman of the Waterbury Safety Council, Commander of the Disabled American Veterans (Chapter 9), Life Member of American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Barnhardt was also a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, Director of the Waterbury Connecticut Teachers Federal Credit Union, President of the Exchange Club, and Commander of the Retired Officers Association, Mattatuck Chapter. In addition, he was a long-time member of the Olympian Club, and a 54-year member of the Benevolent Fraternal Order of the Elks in Waterbury where he continued to spend many enjoyable afternoons and evenings playing cards with congenial friends. An avid sports fan, Mr. Barnhardt was integral in bringing professional baseball “home” to Waterbury in 1972 by being one of the proud owners of the professional baseball team AA Franchise in Waterbury.
Mr. Barnhardt leaves three daughters: Mrs. Michael (Marie) Hopkins of Waterbury; Mrs. Dana (Anne) Hendershott, and Mrs. William (Joan) Cagginello both of Milford; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Jeannette M. Barnhardt.
Calling Hours will be held on Sunday from 3-6pm at the Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow St. A funeral Mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church, 182 Robbins St. on Monday at 10 am. Friends are requested to gather at the Church. Entombment will be at the Calvary Garden Mausoleum in Calvary cemetery with full military honors.

Michele Marie Boulier
Devoted Teacher
WATERBURY - Michele Marie Boulier, 57, daughter of Charles J. Boulier Jr. and the late Marilyn (Lewis) Boulier, died at home on Monday January 30th, 2012. She was born in Waterbury on November 27, 1954.
Michele was a graduate of Saint Margaret’s Grammar School class of 1968 and Sacred Heart High School class of 1972. She received an Associate Degree from Mattatuck Community College in 1974 and a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Central Connecticut State College in 1977.
Michele taught for 25 years at Saint Francis Xavier School in Waterbury. She was proud to be a teacher and often said, “My students are my children.” She was a lifelong communicant of Saint Margaret Church where she was a member of the Pastoral Council and a CCD teacher. She lived a fulfilling and active life in spite of her physical ailments. Among her many interests were swimming, traveling, seeing shows, playing Bingo, going to the Casino and spending time with her many friends, family, and her Godmother. The joy of her life was her 16 nieces, 11 nephews and 2 grandnieces, always supporting them in their many games, concerts and events.
In addition to her loving father, Michele is survived by her siblings, Vanessa and her fiancé Jim Fisher of Winsted, Chuck and his wife Beth of Wolcott, Denise Poniatoski and her husband Bill of Fairport, NY, Chris and his wife Deb of Waterbury, Pam (Stadalnik) of Thomaston, Pete and his wife Liz of Watertown, Valerie Ambrose and her husband Tom of Naugatuck, Wendy Farrell of Waterbury, Sharyn of Waterbury, Greg of Waterbury, Jackie Tiul and her husband Raul of Litchfield, David and his wife Rachel of East Granby, and her nieces, nephews, grandnieces and cousins.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday February 2 at St. Margaret Church, 289 Willow Street. Friends are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow Street.

Anne M. Griffin
Dedicated Waterbury Hospital Employee
WATERBURY - Anne M. (Laurencelle) Griffin, 75, of Waterbury died Monday April 4, 2011 at her home.
Mrs. Griffin was born in Waterbury July 28, 1935 daughter of the late Roy and Ann (Hedderman) Laurencelle and had been a lifelong resident of Waterbury and a graduate of Sacred Heart High School, Class of 1953.
Mrs. Griffin was currently working at Waterbury Hospital as a Communications Specialist. She was a dedicated member of the Waterbury Hospital family for over 45 years. She retired in 2003 from the State of Connecticut Department of Public Utilities where she had worked for over twenty years.
Anne was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who worked two jobs for many years to support her family. She found peace and solace in her devotion to St. Therese of the Little Flower and her friends at the Abbey of Regina Laudis in Bethlehem. She enjoyed travelling and spending winters in Florida and summers in Rhode Island with her family.
Mrs. Griffin is survived by her loving and devoted daughters and sons-in-law; Eileen Regan and her husband Kevin of Watertown, Nancy Mancini and her husband Salvatore of Waterbury, and Nora Donahue and her husband Timothy of Waterbury. She is also survived by one sister; Margaret "Peggy" Laurencelle of Southington and 7 grandchildren; Brittany and Lauren Regan, Katie, Jessica, and Matthew Mancini, and Emily and Molly Griffin, and many nieces, nephews, and devoted friends. She was predeceased by her son, Sgt. William “Bill” Griffin and her granddaughter, Meghan Griffin.
Funeral will be Friday April 8th at 9:00 AM from the Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow Street to Our Lady of Loreto Church, 12 Ardsley Road for a Mass at 10:00 AM. Calling hours are Thursday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. There will be a private family burial in New St. Joseph Cemetery.

Herbert E. Green, II
Retired Waterbury Police Captain
PROSPECT - Herbert E. Green, II, 66, of Prospect died Saturday April 9, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was the husband of Sally (Pilla) Green.
Mr. Green was born in Waterbury April 13, 1944 son of Mary (Butler) Green of Wolcott and the late Herbert E. Green and was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School, Class of 1962. Mr. Green was a U.S. Air Force Veteran having served in Vietnam with the 1041st SSF.
Mr. Green retired in 2000 as a Captain from the Waterbury Police Department. He served in many capacities as a Police Officer in Waterbury for thirty two years. After his retirement he worked for AKAL Security as a Special Deputy US Marshall until the time of his death. He was a member of the Waterbury Elks Lodge # 265, the Wolcott 146 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, a communicant of St. Bridget’s Church in Cheshire, and he enjoyed golf.
Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by his children; Claudia Mary Deemer and her husband Michael of Tampa, FL, Katherine Bryan and her husband Stacy of Pensacola, FL, Brian Green and his wife Lina of Milldale, and Mylinda Oliva and her husband Kevin of Southington, two sisters; Barbara Mallane and her husband Roy of Naugatuck, Mary Zaborowski and her husband John of Watertown, one brother; Robert Green and his wife JoAnn of Meriden, grandchildren; Mitchell and Jocelyn Oliva, Jack and Jeremy Rossi, Aidan, Shannon, and Patrick Bryan, Emily and Katherine Green, and several nieces and nephews.
The Funeral will be Monday April 11, 2011 at 8:30 AM with Waterbury Police Department honors from the Murphy Funeral Home, 115 Willow St., Waterbury to St. Bridget's Church, 175 Main Street, Cheshire for a Mass at 10:00 AM. Burial with military honors will be in Old St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
