Joyce E. Liptack, age 81, a long time Norwalk resident, died Tuesday, October 5 at Ridgefield Crossings. She was the wife of the late Leslie J. Liptack. Joyce was born on August 5, 1929 in Rahway, NJ, daughter of the late Harry and Mabel Jahn Urmston. She was a graduate of Cranford High School, Class of 1947 in Cranford, NJ and has lived locally since 1953. She enjoyed reading, crosswords, bowling and working on geneology.
Survivors include three sons, James Liptack of Ridgefield, Glenn Liptack of Phoenix, AZ and Gary Liptack of Trumbull; four grandchildren, Peter, Aaron, Kristine and Stephanie, and several nieces and nephews. Pauline M. Fahey, 82, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 30, at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford.
Ms. Fahey was born March 3, 1928, in Slough, England, to the late Ralph P. and Beryl Fox Fahey. The family later returned from England and settled in Norwalk in 1934.
Pauline attended St. Mary’s School, Norwalk, and Norwalk High School. She entered the School of Nursing at the University of Connecticut, Storrs, in 1946, where she was elected to membership in Sigma Theta Tau, the national honor society for nursing. She graduated with honors in 1951.
After graduation, she worked as a staff nurse and head nurse at Greenwich Hospital. While there, she was awarded a Kellogg Fellowship to pursue a master’s degree in nursing administration at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. Upon completion of her graduate studies there, she returned to Connecticut and was appointed associate director of nursing at Stamford Hospital.
In 1965 Pauline joined the National Headquarters Staff of the American Nurses Association (ANA) in Manhattan as Director of the Nursing Services Department. She worked with the ANA’s national commission, which published the Standards for Organized Nursing Services, and collaborated with the joint commission of the Accreditation of Hospitals.
In 1970 she was appointed Associate Director of Nursing at the Maine Medical Center in Portland. She later became the Director of Nursing at Emerson Hospital in Concord, Massachusetts, in 1976.
Pauline returned to Norwalk in 1986 and served as a case manager and national consultant for several local healthcare organizations. Prior to her retirement, she worked for Nursing and Home Care, Inc., in Wilton, which provides a variety of programs for the area’s senior citizens. In 2001 she received the Carolyn Ladd Widmer Outstanding Alumni Award for Leadership in Nursing presented by the University of Connecticut.
She was a long-time member of St. Philip Church, Norwalk, where she served as a lector and on a variety of committees.
She was predeceased by three siblings, all of Norwalk, Peter R. Fahey, Madeleine Fahey Spangle, and John A. Fahey. She is survived by her brother, Rev. Michael A. Fahey, S.J., of Boston College, her brother-in-law John Spangle and his wife Sarah of Florida, and her sisters-in-law, Eleanor Doane Fahey of Wilton and Grace Roge Fahey of Florida, as well as by eleven nieces, two nephews, and a number of grandnieces and nephews.

Jaclyn Marie Bisceglie, age 19, of Norwalk and former Redding resident, died Wednesday, September 29 at Yale-New Haven Hospital after a serious short illness. Jaclyn was born in Norwalk December 8, 1990, the daughter of Rosemarie Saracco Bisceglie and Gerard F. Bisceglie. She attended Redding schools, later moved to Norwalk, graduating from Norwalk High School in 2009. She had a passion for cheerleading. She worked with her Dad at the Montessori School in Wilton as an assistant running coach. Jaclyn also loved animals and was soon to begin work as a veterinary technician.
In addition to her parents, Jaclyn is survived by her brother Justin Bisceglie, maternal grandparents Ralph and Gloria Saracco, paternal grandparents Patrick and Margaret Bisceglie, Aunts and Uncles Carole Ann and Louis Saracco, Christina, John, Michael and Anthony Bisceglie, Pam Ferrer, and many cousins and loving friends.

Margaret M. “Maggie” LeBlanc, of Norwalk, CT, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, September 24, after a long illness. Born March 30, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Walter J. and Alice Coenen McNichols. Although born in Long Island, NY, she was a lifelong resident of Norwalk. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s School in Norwalk and Laurelton Hall in Milford. In addition to her loving husband of 54 years, Robert J. LeBlanc, she is survived by her 5 children; a son, Robert LeBlanc, Jr. and her four daughters, Laurie Rogan and her husband Steve, Kathleen Lametta and her husband Tom, Margaret Curran and her husband Steve, Mary Ann Pramer and her husband Chip, and 13 grandchildren, Daniel and Julianne Rogan, Tommy, Mike and Alex Lametta, Megan, Kate, Steven, Emily and Clare Curran, Jessica, Joey and Sam Pramer. She was predeceased by a brother, Walter J. McNichols, Jr. Maggie was a lifelong member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in Norwalk. She was a devoted and beloved volunteer for many years for the American Cancer Society’s Road to Recovery program and for the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Thomas Parish for over 20 years. Maggie and Bob enjoyed many years of friendship and traveling with many local and national antique car clubs.

Edward J. Laux, Sr, age 76, a forty six year resident of Norwalk, passed away Sunday morning, September 19th in Norwalk Hospital, of complications from diabetes. He was born in May 2, 1934 in the Bronx, NY, to the late Edward F. and Margaret (Gribbon) Laux.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret (Bradley) Laux; two sons, Edward J.Laux Jr and his wife Barbara of Greenwich and Thomas A. Laux and his wife Elaine of Mt. Kisco, NY. He also leaves four grandsons, Conor B. Laux and Edward B Laux of Greenwich and William J. Laux and Daniel T. Laux of Mt. Kisco; his sister, Barbara Budelmann and her husband Bruce of Estero, FL and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his stepmother, Margaret (McCallion) Laux and his son William Bradley Laux.
Ed was raised in Riverdale, NY, educated at the All Hallows School and Cardinal Hayes HS. He graduated in 1958 from Manhattan College with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, where he was a charter member of Omicron Chi Epsilon, National Honor Society in Economics. He worked as an auditor and staff accountant for Haskins and Sells for five years before becoming the Treasurer of the Buckingham Corporation, importers of Cutty Sark Scotch Whisky In 1973, he became the VP of Finance of EM LABS, a division of E. Merck of Darmstadt, Germany, where he remained until his retirement in 1985.
Ed had a lifetime passion for cars, Long Island Sound, the Mets and the NY football Giants. He loved everything about the water – swimming, skindiving, spearfishing, digging for clams, and his boats. He was an avid and accomplished fisherman, and a longtime member of the Norwalk Striped Bass Club. He always cherished his time with Peggy and friends in Walkers Cay, Hilton Head, Candlewood lake, Block Island and especially Newport, RI. In his later years, he indulged his passions for cooking and building model airplanes and boats. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him. Our beloved Angela Messecar, wife of the late Oscar H. Messecar, died on September 12, 2010 at the Norwalk Hospital. She graduated from Regis College in Weston, MA in 1939, and taught high school English in Madawaska ME and in Darien CT. She is survived by her three children: Arnold Messecar, Elizabeth Granahan, and Raymond Messecar; and her grandchildren: Michael Messecar, Matthew Granahan and Lauren Granahan. A memorial mass for family and friends will be held at St. Mary's Church in Norwalk on a date to be announced.
