Ruth Mary Sullivan Farrington
Tireless Volunteer, Faithful Christian
Norwalk - Ruth Farrington, 83, of Norwalk, died Friday at Munson Hospital, Traverse City, Michigan.
Mrs. Farrington was born in Saginaw, MI, daughter of Marguerite Walsh Sullivan and James Bernard Sullivan, and lived in Norwalk for 45 years after previously having lived in Waterbury, CT.
Mrs. Farrington was a tireless volunteer for Birthright of Norwalk, serving as its co-director for more than 20 years, counseling pregnant mothers, raising funds and managing the Norwalk office.
She was also a faithful servant of St Jerome’s Church.
Mrs. Farrington is survived by a sister, Margaret Sullivan of Bay City, MI, and five children: James Farrington, Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Darien, Margaret Farrington of Norwalk, Thomas Farrington of Norwalk, William Farrington of Topeka, KS, and Daniel Farrington of Weston and his fiancé, Jennifer Celli. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Katherine, Kevin, Molly and Megan Farrington of Topeka, KS, and Caroline and James Farrington of Darien, to whom she was a most adoring grandmother. Her husband of more than 50 years, James Farrington, Sr., and daughter, Patricia Farrington, predeceased her.

Joan Fortini - age: 72

Calling hours will be Wednesday, September 8, from 4 to 8pm and Thursday, September 9, 2010 at 11:00am at The Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk. Burial will be private.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The COPD Foundation.
Joan (White) Fortini, age 72, of Norwalk, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2010 at Stamford Hospital from a long battle with COPD. Mrs. Fortini was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa, on March 1, 1938, daughter of the late Charles White, and Helen (Urban) White. Joan was a volunteer for The Disabled American Veterans Society.
Mrs. Fortini was pre-deceased by her husband Merico(Jay), daughter Joanne Fortini, and a son, Anthony Steven Pignataro and sister Ann Cappiello.
She is survived by her children, Bruce Richard Woodward, Debra Ann Woodward, Casavecchia, Jody Pignataro, and Donna, Angela, Jacqueline, Marie and James Fortini, as well; a niece and six nephews, and many grandchildren; along with several great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, September 8, from 4 to 8pm and Thursday, September 9, 2010 at 11:00am at The Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk. Burial will be private.

Margaret Irene Ferris - age: 94

Her family will receive friends on Thursday from 5 to 8 pm at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave. Norwalk. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Sept 10, at 10am at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Rowayton Union Cemetery.
Margaret Irene Ferris, age 94 of Norwalk, died Monday, September 6, 2010 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Bridgeport. Born in PA, she worked as a seamstress in her brother Steve Gribosky's business, at Gribosky Upholstery for many years. Predeceased by her husband David, her son William and several brothers and sisters, Margaret is survived by her children, David Ferris Jr., Florence Irene Tagliaferro and Frank Ferris, as well as her brother John, and sister Bobbie, loving grandchildren and other relatives.
Her family will receive friends on Thursday from 5 to 8 pm at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave. Norwalk. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Sept 10, at 10am at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Rowayton Union Cemetery.

Ernest Eugene Costabile - age: 73

Ernest Eugene Costabile, age 73, husband of the late Matilda (Novak) Costabile passed away Saturday, September 4, 2010 at home with his family by his side. Ernest was born May 29, 1937 in Norwalk to the late Peter and Mildred (Peretti) Costabile.
Ernest was a retired plummer-steam-fitter for the Local Union 777.
He is survived by a son Michael E. and his wife, a daughter Michelle M. Costabile, 2 brothers Peter and Vincent Costabile and sister, Virginia DeMarco, 5 grandchildren, Robert L. Jeffers, Samantha L. Alberta, Felipe, Nikayla and Marissa Costabile. In addition to his wife Ernest was also pre-deceased by a son, Robert.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday September 8, 2010 at 11:00am at The Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Norwalk. Calling hours will be Tuesday, September 8, 2010 from 4 to 8pm at The Magner Funeral Home.

Joseph James Donnelly - age: 43
(January 01, 1967 to July 08, 2010 )

Services will be held Monday, July 12, 10 AM at Grace Episcopal Church, 1 Union Park in Norwalk, with Pastor Lois Keen officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Joe’s family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave. on Sunday from 3-6 PM.
Joseph James Donnelly, age 43, of Norwalk, died at his home after a long illness on Thursday, July 8. Joe was born in Stamford on January 1, 1967. He was a graduate of Brien McMahon High School and also attended culinary school. Joe was working as a glazer for the Horizon Glass Company. He was a member of the Ferris Hill Club and was an avid baseball and softball player in town for many years. He was also a drummer and an excellent chef. Joe was a wonderful uncle, brother and son and will be missed by all who knew him.
Joe is survived by his fiancé Jennifer Haisley, his mother Elsie Conklin, his brother Scott Donnelly and his fiancé Mercy, all of Norwalk, his sisters Valerie Romanello and her husband James, Sandra Conklin and her companion Roberto, all of Stamford, and Carolyn Hatzi and her husband Bobby of Bethel, his nephews and niece Dimitri, Alex, Nicholas, Jake, R.J. and Sarah, the Garvey family and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be held Monday, July 12, 10 AM at Grace Episcopal Church, 1 Union Park in Norwalk, with Pastor Lois Keen officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Joe’s family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave. on Sunday from 3-6 PM.

Chester Kocut - age: 92
(July 20, 1918 to July 22, 2010 )
Resident of Norwalk, Connecticut
Chester Kocot, age 91, of Norwalk, died peacefully at the Norwalk Hospital on Monday, July 12. He was the husband of the late Dorothy Anna Johnsen Kocot. Born in Stamford on July 20, 1918, he was the son of the late Teofil and Walentyna Kocot. He was a professional yacht painter for many years, having worked for Mussio’s Boat Yard and Yacht Haven in Stamford. He loved his time with his family and enjoyed refinishing antique furniture in his spare time.
Survivors include a son, Chester K. Kocot and his wife Linda of Greenwich, a daughter, Barbara J. Moffett and her husband Robert of Norwalk, a brother, Edward Kocot of Stamford, 3 grandchildren, Michelle, Amanda and C.J., and a niece, Chris.
Services and interment will be private and there will be no visiting hours. Contributions may be made to a favorite charity in Chester’s name.
