Robert Rudolph Jablonsky

Robert Rudolph Jablonsky, age 63, of Southbury, CT, died July 20, 1999 at his home. Born in Bridgeport, CT June 2, 1936. He was employed as a teacher in the Connecticut Educational System. He was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church, Newtown.

He is survived by 1 daughter Mary Jablonsky Rawlins & her husband Jay of Denver, CO; 2 sons David Jablonsky of Wilmington, DE & Douglas Jablonsky of Richmond, VA; 2 sisters Gladys Ferik & Joyce Roman both of Trumbull, CT; 4 nieces & nephews; and his loving companion Kris Benton.

Funeral services will be held Friday 2:00 pm at the Trinity Episcopal Church, Main St., Newtown, CT with Rev. Kathleen Adams-Shepherd officiating. Burial Long Hill Cemetery, Trumbull, CT. The family will receive friends at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St., Newtown Thursday 6 to 9 p.m. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Soc., 40 North St., Danbury, CT 06810.

Joseph Taylor

Joseph Taylor, 66, of 13 Woodside Ave. in Danbury died on July 15, 1999 in Waterbury Hospital.

Mr. Taylor was born in Clarksdale, Miss. on June 22, 1933, son of the late Moten and Kati Billofo Tell.

Mr. Taylor was an auto mechanic for Danbury Auto Spring & Welding.

He is survived by a son, Ricky Taylor of Chicago, Ill.; four daughters, Lula Bohannon of Chicago, Ill., Rosie Davidson of Albany, N.Y., Angela Taylor of Chicago, Ill. and Wanda Taylor of Waterbury, Conn.; four sisters, Mable Lou Mitchell, Everlean Ervin, Sarah Lee Clark and Ora Lee Stinger, all of Clarksdale, Miss.; 34 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends, including dear friends Renee McCall and Yalanda R. Callands. Mr. Taylor was predeceased by sons Joseph T. Johnson and Michael Johnson.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, noon, at New Hope Baptist Church, 10 Cherry St., Danbury, Conn. Burial will be in Wooster Cemetery in Danbury.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon at the church.

Keyes Funeral Home, 69 Pearl St., Waterbury is in charge of arrangements.

Helen Meyerholz

Helen Meyerholz died on July 21, 1999 at the Heritage Heights Convalescent Home at the age of 91. Mrs. Meyerholz had lived at 26 Balmforth Ave., Danbury.

Mrs. Meyerholz is survived by her son, Leo of New Milford; her brother, Edward M. Reynolds of Bethel; two sisters, Margaret Lucas of Frederick, Md. and Ann Siswick of N. Ft. Myers, Fla.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Sat., 11 a.m., at St. Joseph Church Danbury. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery.

Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury.

Rose Marie Naiman

Rose Marie (Burchie) Naiman, 86, of Cherry Hill, N.J., formerly of Andora, Pa. and Staten Island, N.Y., died on July 20, 1999. She was the wife of the late John Z. Naiman.

She was the beloved mother of Barbara N. Young of Moorestown, N.J., John V. Naiman of Budd Lake, N.J. and Donald J. Naiman of Danbury, Conn.; and sister of Anastasia Mastro of Staten Island, N.Y. and Catherine O'Rourke of New York City. Seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Main St., Moorestown, N.J.

Viewing is on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Lewis Funeral Home, 78 E. Main St. in Moorestown. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Conshocken, Pa.

James N. Greene, Jr.

James N. Greene, Jr., 60, husband of Rosemary (Patella) Greene, of Danbury, died at the Danbury Hospital on Wednesday morning, following a brief illness.

He was born in Danbury, June 10, 1939, son of the late James N. Greene, Sr. and the late Jane (Allen) Greene Farwell. Mr. Greene, who grew up in Newtown, was a graduate of St. Peter School in Danbury, Newtown High School, and Newport University. He had been a resident of Danbury for the past 30 years. From 1965 to 1986, he served as Executive Vice President of the Naugatuck Chamber of Commerce. Between the years 1986 and 1999, Mr. Greene was associated with TMC Realty Corp. and since 1993, a managing agent at Phoenix Management Corp. of Stamford.

Mr. Greene was a member of St. Peter Church, the Naugatuck Kiwanis Club, B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge #967 of Naugatuck, the Hundred Club of Connecticut, Knights of Columbus Council #29, and a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Rev. John D. Kennedy Assembly.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters: Jane Greene Cipriano of Concord, NH, Theresa Greene Henning of Durham, NH and Catherine R. Greene of Danbury; a sister, Catherine J. Greene of Boca Raton, FL; two brothers, Michael J. Greene of Omaha, NE, and Peter E. Greene of Old Greenwich; a niece, Casey Greene of Old Greenwich; a nephew, Matthew Greene of Fairfax, VA; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

The funeral will be conducted from the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Saturday morning at 10:00 and to St. Peter Church at 10:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, on Friday evening from 4 to 8 pm.

Frances E. Blood

Frances E. Blood, 74, wife of Donald Elmer Blood of Newtown, passed on to eternity on Thursday, July 22, 1999, at Danbury Hospital.

She was born Frances Elizabeth Witkowski on Nov. 19, 1924, in Bridgeport, Conn. Frances graduated from St. Vincent's College of Nursery in 1945.

She was the beloved mother of 11 children, the grandmother of 16 grandchildren, and the great-grandmother of two.

Friends may call on Monday, July 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. Burial will follow at Hawley Cemetery later in the week.

Contributions may be made to the Diabetes Foundation.

Elaine M. Belanger

Elaine Mazza Belanger, 67, of 45 Mount Tom Road, New Milford, wife of George A. Belanger, died Thursday, July 22, 1999, at home.

Mrs. Belanger was born in Danbury on May 12, 1932, a daughter of the late Ralph and Mary Rotunda Mazza. She attended schools in Danbury.

Mrs. Belanger had been employed for many years at Branson Sonic Power. She was a parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church. She lived in New Milford for the past 25 years.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Rene A. Bush and Lynn M. Tracey, both of San Marcos, California. Four brothers, Ralph Mazza Jr. of Danbury, Sam Mazza of Bethel and Frank Mazza and John Mazza, both of Stuart, Florida. Four sisters, Josephine Sumers of Newport, Vermont, Theresa Cunningham of Port Richey, Florida, Sarah Crowell of Brookfield and Louise Villane of Danbury. Three grandchildren, Lisa Terrell, Dawn Bush and Andrew Tracey Jr. One great-grandchild, Ashley Terrell.

Funeral services are on Monday at 10:30 a.m. from the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge Street, New Milford, to St. Francis Xavier Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment is in Lakeside Cemetery in Morris, Conn. Friends may call at the Lillis Funeral Home Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 40 North St., Danbury CT 06810.

Mary S. Hamway

Mary S. Khoury Hamway, of Lawrence, MA, whose cousins live in the Danbury area, died Thursday, July 22, 1999. at the M.I. Restorative Nursing Center in Lawrence. She was the wife of the late Farris Hamway. Mrs. Hamway would have been 92 on Aug. 1.

Born in Lebanon, Mrs. Hamway was educated in the Lawrence schools, after moving to the U.S. at the age of 3. She worked some 26 years for the Arlington Textile Mills as a spinner. She was an attendant of St. Joseph Melkite Church in Lawrence. Mrs. Hamway enjoyed knitting and cooking.

Surviving are a sister, Lucienne Abbas of Methuen, MA; a brother, Nicholas Khoury of Northridge, CA; and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews; and cousins in Akron, OH, and Danbury, CT; plus extended family in Detroit, MI.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, July 24, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Melkite Church in Lawrence, MA. Burial will follow at the United Lebanese Cemetery in Andover, MA. Family and friends may call from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home Inc., 122 Amesbury Street, Lawrence, MA.

Dorothea Warren Fox

Dorothea Warren Fox, 85, illustrator of Dr. Spock's "Baby and Child Care" and author of the children's book, "Miss Twiggly's Tree," died Thursday at her home in New Fairfield.

She was born in Birmingham, Alabama, January 31, 1914, daughter of Dorothy Orr and noted architect William Tilman Warren.

Forced to leave college due to The Depression, Dorothea moved to New York, where she designed window displays for Macy's department store and launched her career in illustration and commercial art. Her work included Li'l Ivry comic strips for Ivory Soap and ads for Carter's baby clothes, the General Diaper Company and Heinz Soup. She illustrated school books for Ginn and Company, numerous books about coping with modern life in the 1930s, '40s and '50s, and most notably, the first six editions of Dr. Spock's "Baby and Child Care." Her work appeared in Baby Talk magazine, Parents magazine, Readers Digest condensed books, Life magazine and The Saturday Evening Post.

In 1941, she married illustrator Charles Fox and moved to New Fairfield, where she continued her career, raised a family and became active as a member of the P.T.A., the Town Park Board and the Library Board.

In 1966, when companies were increasingly turning to photography for their advertising images, Mrs. Fox wrote and illustrated the children's book, "Miss Twiggly's Tree," about an eccentric woman reviled by her neighbors for her odd habits and whose generosity in a crisis forces people to change their opinion of her.

Mrs. Fox is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Rice of Stuart, Florida; three sons, Charles Fox Jr. of Boston, Massachusetts, Robert Fox of Ridgefield and Catlin Fox of Leicester, Vermont, and six grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the New Fairfield Land Trust, 4 Brush Hill Road, New Fairfield, CT 06812.

Calling hours: Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the New Fairfield Funeral Home, Route 37 at Cottontail Road, New Fairfield.

Services: Monday at 10 a.m. at the New Fairfield Congregational Church, Gillotti Road, New Fairfield. Burial will follow at Mountainview Cemetery, New Fairfield.

Melissa Rodriquez

Melissa J. Rodriquez, age 22, daughter of James and Carol (Quinn) Rodriquez, of 55 The Boulevard, Newtown, died July 20, 1999, in Flagstaff, AZ, from injuries received in an automobile accident.

Born in New York City, February 21, 1977, she was a resident of Newtown the past 13 years. She was a graduate of Newtown High School, Class of 1995, where she was a flutist in the school band. She was a 1999 graduate of Lehigh University, earning a BA degree. Jazz was her favorite music, and she enjoyed the Sesame Street television show and the Indigo Girls musical group. Melissa loved to try new foods; her favorite food was creme brulee. Melissa loved to have meaningful conversations, and she loved to laugh.

In addition to her parents, survivors include her sister, Lisa M. Rodriquez of Newtown; her paternal grandparents, James and Monserrates Rodriquez of Queens, N.Y., and her maternal grandmother, Irene Quinn of Ridgefield, CT.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. from the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St., Newtown, and at 10:30 in St. Rose Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment in St. Rose Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Patrick H. Ashley

Patrick H. Ashley, 54, of 5 Golden Hill Road, Danbury, died Friday at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. He was the husband of Eleanormary (Enright) Ashley.

Born in Danbury on Oct. 16, 1944, he was a son of Violet (Tawyea) Ashley Stenton of Danbury and the late Robert P. Ashley Sr. He attended Danbury schools and the Henry Abbott Technical School.

Mr. Ashley served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War era. Prior to his illness, he worked as a Fork Lift Operator at the Kimberly Clark Company. He had been a resident of Danbury and New Milford.

Mr. Ashley was a member of the Striders Drum Corps and the CWV Junior Drum Corps, where he donated his time to help the young musicians.

Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons, Wayne J. Ashley of Garner, N.C., and Kevin J. Ashley of Southbury; two daughters, Denise L. Kessman of New Milford and Elizabeth M. Manz of Southbury; four brothers, Robert P. Ashley Jr. of New Milford, and Kenneth, Brian and Daniel Ashley, all of Danbury; a sister, Gail Morrissey of Danbury; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church, New Milford, on Monday morning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be private. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Sunday afternoon from 3 to 5:30 p.m.

William S. Tucker

William "Bill" S. Tucker, 42, of Del Rio, Texas, passed away after a bout with cancer, Wednesday morning, July 21, 1999, in San Antonio, Texas.

He was born on May 7, 1957, in Danbury, Connecticut. On July 26, 1990, he married Anita Pineda in Del Rio.

He is survived by his wife; mother, Audrey Lowy and her husband Max of Danbury; father, William "Bill" C. Tucker and his wife Shirley of North Richland Hills, Texas; sister, Kathy (Tucker) McCormick of Pawling, New York; step-brothers, Craig, Ken and Brian Lowy and Robert and Richard Northrop; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Upon completion of a 12-year commitment in the U.S. Air Force ending in Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota, he was employed as an aircraft mechanic and most recently as a maintenance work leader at Laughlin Air Force Base since June 1989.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Del Rio Memorial Park on U.S. 90 East. Pall bearers will be Edward A. Calafell, Joseph J. Allen, Charles Champion, Raul B. Losoya, Royce Zvorak and Joseph Wertz.

San Felipe Del Rio Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors.

A memorial account has been opened at Border Federal Credit Union in Del Rio, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of William "Bill" S. Tucker and sent to the Cancer Therapy and Research Center, P.O. Box 1627, San Antonio, Texas 78296.

The C.W. Cox Memorial Funeral Chapel of Del Rio, Texas, is in charge of arrangements.

Edwin J. Krauss

Edwin J. Krauss, age 81, of Ridgefield, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 1999.

Mr. Krauss was born in Jamaica, Queens, New York, on October 29, 1917. He was raised in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Connecticut with his family in 1960. A Veteran of World War II, Mr. Krauss served in the 739th Tank Battalion assigned to the US 9th Army and the British 21st Army involved in the liberation of France, Belgium and Germany. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain.

Mr. Krauss was employed by Canada Dry for 20 years and served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. He then joined the Multiplex Corporation as European Marketing Manager until his retirement in 1978.

He is survived by his sister Esther Zavayna of Los Angeles, California; three sons, Michael of Chicago, David of Danbury, William of Monroe, and their spouses, Mary Lou, Elaine and Carol; 4 grandchildren, Erich, Heidi, Krista, and Laura; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Krauss is predeceased by his wife Ethel Roggow Krauss and his sister Wanda Giblin.

A private burial service will be celebrated in Chicago, Illinois.
