Eleni Christou

Eleni Christou, 84, a homemaker, of Denver, Colo., formerly of Bethel, Conn., died Thursday, May 27, 1999 in Denver.

She was born on July 24, 1914 in Kythrea, Nicosla, Cyprus. Her husband, Stavros Christou, preceded her in death.

She is survived by four sons, Chris and Regas, both of Denver, Andreas of Connecticut and George Stavrou of Cyprus; two daughters, Evanthia Lemonidis and Maria, both of Denver; 11 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Services were Tuesday at Assumption Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Glendale, Colo. Interment was in Fairmount Cemetery.

Phyllis L. Pancrazio

Phyllis L. Pancrazio, 86, a resident of the Branchville section of Ridgefield since 1915, died on Thursday, June 3, 1999 at Danbury Hospital. She was the wife of the late Pacifico Pancrazio.

Mrs. Pancrazio was born in Palma de Montechiaro, Italy on October 31, 1912, a daughter of the late Charles and Josephine Infurchia Ancona. For many years she assisted in the operation of a family restaurant business in Branchville. Mrs. Pancrazio was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Georgetown.

Survivors include her two sons, Charles A. Pancrazio of Danbury and James Pancrazio of Boston, Mass.; one daughter, Antoinette Perez of Madrid, Spain; one brother, Philip Ancona of Branchville; one sister, Frances Pambianchi of Ridgefield; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Pancrazio was predeceased by a brother, Nazzareno Ancona.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church in Georgetown. The Rev. M. Joseph Joaquin, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Branchville Cemetery in Ridgefield.

Friends may call at the Bouton Funeral Home, 31 West Church St., Georgetown on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Contributions in memory of Mrs. Pancrazio may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association of Ridgefield, 90 East Ridge, Ridgefield, CT 06877.

Jamie A. Miller

The death of Jamie A. Miller, 32, of 46 Butterfield Road, Newtown, occurred at her home Friday morning. She was the wife of Steven M. Miller.

Born in Suffern, N.Y., March 26, 1967, she was the daughter of Michael and Joan W. Rabatin Palkovic. She was a 1985 graduate of high school and of the Westchester Business Institute in 1987 with an Associates Degree in Marketing. She made her home in White Plains, N.Y., prior to moving to Newtown in 1992.

Mrs. Miller had been employed as an administrative assistant in the Legal Department of the St. Paul Insurance Co. in the White Plains office for the past six months. Prior, she had been employed by the Duracell Corp. from 1992 to 1995. She was a member of St. Rose Church, Newtown.

Besides her husband and her parents of West Haverstraw, N.Y, she is survived by two brothers, Michael Palkovic and Kevin Palkovic, both of West Haverstraw; three sisters, Michelle Goodman of Glastonbury, CT; MaryEllen Murphy of Highland Falls, N.Y., and Theresa Sullivan of Fort Montgomery, N.Y., a niece, three nephews and several cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rose Church, Church Hill Road, Newtown, Monday morning at 10:00. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Newtown. Friends may call at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Vera E. Morris

Vera E. Morris, age 77, of Danbury, CT, died Thursday, June 3, 1999, at the Glen Hill Convalescent Center in Danbury. She was the wife of the late Walter L. Morris.

Mrs. Morris married Walter L. Morris on Feb. 28, 1942, in Williamstown, MA.

Mrs. Morris had worked for Barden Corp. in Danbury from 1964 to 1969 and had been a housewife for most of her life. She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Brewster, NY, and had lived in Danbury, CT, for 14 years. Mrs. Morris had lived in Millerton, NY, for 10 years and in Brewster, NY, for 16 years prior to that.

Mrs. Morris is survived by two daughters, Darlene Turiano of New Milford, CT, and Judy Morris of Danbury, CT. Two sisters, Phyllis Martrigali of Brewster, NY, and Marilyn Bourden of Adams, MA. Also several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a sister, Doris Brown, and a brother, Ernest Haley.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, June 8, 1999, at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Brewster, N.Y. Interment will follow at Milltown Rural Cemetery, Brewster. Friends may call at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY, on Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Dempsey J. Brockelman

Dempsey John Brockelman, age 4 and 1/2, of Minneapolis, MN., grandson of Judith and Philip Brockelman of Brookfield, died June 2, 1999, at Fairview University Medical Center, Minneapolis, MN, following a six-month illness with cancer. He was the son of Peter and Wendy Brockelman.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated June 6 at 3:30 p.m. at The Church of St. Mary of the Lake, Plymouth, MN. Interment will be in South Chatham Cemetery, Chatham, MA.

Besides his parents and grandparents, Dempsey is survived by brother Myles and sister Pieper Brockelman and by grandparents Noel and John White of Princeton, New Jersey, and other family members.

Memorials are preferred to Kid's Cancer Fund, through Minneapolis Children's Health Care Center, Minneapolis, or Make A Wish Foundation.

Arrangements are with the Gearty Delmore Funeral Chapel, Plymouth, MN 55446.

Francis X. O'Rourke

Francis X. O'Rourke, age 75, of Brewster, NY, died Sunday, June 6, 1999 at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel. He was the husband of Mary Ellen (Kirk) O'Rourke.

Mr. O'Rourke was born in Mt. Vernon, NY on December 23, 1923 to the late John C. and Lillian A. (McAvoy) O'Rourke. He graduated from St. Michael's Academy in the Bronx and attended Wesley College in Dover, DE. He was a World War II veteran having served in the Navy from 1943-1946.

Mr. & Mrs. Francis X. O'Rourke were married on Nov. 18, 1950 in Wilmington, DE.

Mr. O'Rourke was a plasterer for the International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftsman Local #5 in Poughkeepsie for 40 years until retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. Lawrence O'Toole Church and lived in Brewster for 42 years and in Mt. Vernon/Bronxville area for 5 years prior.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Francis X. O'Rourke Jr. of Sherman, CT, John C. O'Rourke of Brewster, Timothy K. O'Rourke of Wappingers Falls, NY as well as one daughter, Mary Ellen Durkin of Dover Plains, NY. Five sisters Clare Fagan of Scarsdale, NY, Jean Winkler of Hamilton Square, NJ, Betty Roulhac of Lisle, IL and Ann O'Rourke and Patty Huddleston both of River Edge, NJ. Also nine grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 9, 1999 at 10am at St. Lawrence O'Toole Church in Brewster. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. Friends may call at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster on Tuesday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm.

Frank Salerno

Frank Salerno, 97, of 107 Osborne St., Danbury, husband of the late Angela Fossolino Salerno, died at the Mediplex Convalescent Center of Danbury on Sunday morning.

He was born in Italy, January 1, 1902, son of the late Louis and Maria (Geriano) Salerno. He came to the USA as a young man and had been a Danbury resident for more than 65 years. He had owned and operated the former Salerno Importing Company on White St. in Danbury for many years and later worked at the Bard-Parker Company.

Mr. Salerno is survived by 2 sons; Louis Salerno of Wayne, NJ and Philip Salerno of Brewster; a daughter, Marge Sendewicz of Danbury; a stepdaughter, Anita Talarico of Danbury; a brother, Domenico & a sister, Phyllis of Italy; a sister, Maria Donato of West New York, New Jersey; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Frank "Chic" Salerno in 1996.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter Church, Danbury, on Wednesday morning at 10:30. Burial will take place in St. Mary Cemetery, Bethel. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home. 57 Main St., Danbury, on Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m.

Elaine T. Keane

The death of Elaine T. Keane, 78, of 1103 East Ridge, Village Drive, Miami, Florida, occurred at the Deering Hospital Miami, Saturday.

She was the wife of Raymond M. Keane.

Born in Bethel, December 20, 1920 she was the daughter of the late Rinaldo and Mary Ferry Keane. She attended Bethel schools and was a graduate of Bethel High School, Class of 1939. She lived in Bethel for 21 years before moving to Columbus, Ohio where she resided for 25 years.

She had been employed as a Clerk for the United States Government in Columbus for 20 years retiring in 1970. She and Mr. Keane moved to Florida in 1972 following their retirements.

She was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Miami and a former member of St. Mary's Church, Bethel.

Besides her husband she is survived by a brother, Ralph Gallagher of Danbury, a sister Verna Rebhan of Bethel and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, Bethel, Wednesday morning at 10:00.

Interment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.

Friends may call at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury, Wednesday morning from 8:30 to 9:30.

Marc Bradley Beninson

Marc Bradley Beninson, formerly of Bethel, Connecticut, died after a long illness in Burlington, Vermont. He was the beloved son of Sue (Salamenta) and Ned Davison of Bethel and devoted brother and best friend to his sister Shay Beninson also of Bethel. He also leaves his father, Terry Beninson of Southington and his wife Elizabeth and their children, Adam and Eric.

Marc was a 1987 graduate of Bethel High School where he excelled as a 4 year member of the varsity soccer team. He also played for both the Bethel and Redding travel teams as well as being a member of the Connecticut Select Team. He also played basketball while at Bethel High School.

While at Bethel High School, he also earned awards for his paintings.

Marc began his lifelong career as a percussionist and drummer as a youth. He studied under Clark Eno and went on to play in numerous bands including "The Way" in Danbury and "The Cloud People" in Burlington, Vermont. His current band in Burlington was "The Muse".

Marc gave much of his time in the past few years to helping others. He was a champion of the homeless and helped care for their children.

Marc also leaves behind his grandmother, Dody Davison of Bloomfield, Connecticut, a grandfather, David Beninson of Pine Bush, NY as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He also leaves behind a special friend, Miss Aeron Greene of Vermont.

Funeral Services will take place at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Bethel, on Thursday morning at 11:00 am. Burial will take place at Elmwood Cemetery, Bethel. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury , on Wednesday evening from 4 to 8 p.m.

Contributions may be made to Dorothy Day Hospitality House, 11 Spring St., Danbury, CT 06810.

Walter C. Bylo

Walter C. Bylo, 73, of Norwalk, husband of Shirley McCrombie Bylo, and father of Nancy Esposito, of Bethel, died Sunday at Norwalk Hospital.

Mr. Bylo was a retired banker and a World War II Navy veteran.

Survivors, in addition to his wife and daughter, include a sister, Ann Sefsik, of Delray, Fla., and two grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m., in the Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave., Norwalk. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
