Floyd Robert Polan
Floyd Robert Polan, age 61, of Fairfield (formerly a resident of Trumbull for more than 20 years), died Monday, June 7, 1999, in his home.
Mr. Polan was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., son of the late Irving and Shirley (Schortz) Polan and was a member of the Stratford Raquetball Club.
He is survived by his children: Cindy Polan Rossi of Newtown, Dawn Polan Marriner of Albion, Maine, Troy Polan of Stamford, Louis Polan of Milford; his brothers, Marvin Polan of Melville, N.Y., Harvey Polan of Scottsdale, Ariz., Neal Polan of Redondo Beach, Calif.; and his beloved, Arlene Bunt of Fairfield.
Services will take place Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home, 88 Beach Road, Fairfield, with interment following at Loyalty Cemetery on Burroughs Road.
Memorial contributions may be made to C. Anthony & Jean Whittingham Cancer Center of Norwalk Hospital.
Gail A. Gracy
Mrs. Gail A. (SantaBarbara) Gracy, 47, of 217 George's Hill Road, Southbury, died Monday, June 7, at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Richard Gracy.
Mrs. Gracy was born June 12, 1951, in Waterbury, daughter of Teresa (Errico) SantaBarbara of Naugatuck and the late Nicholas SantaBarbara.
She was president of a home building company that was owned by her husband.
She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a member of its Extend-A-Hand committee. She was a resident of Southbury for 20 years.
Besides her mother and husband, she leaves one son, Mark Gracy of Newtown; one daughter, Maureen Ottinger of Naugatuck; one stepson, Scott Gracy of Waterbury; two stepdaughters, Terry Cooper and Kelli Gracy, both of Southbury; three sisters, Linda Kiernan of Naugatuck, Paula Pascal of Campbellsburg, Ky., and Karen SantaBarbara Vogel of Portland, Conn.; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass Thursday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Main Street South, Southbury. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Southbury.
Calling hours are Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the daily chapel of the church.

John Battista
John Battista, 82, of 31 Matthews St., Southington, Conn., died Saturday, June 5, 1999, at Southington Care Center.
Born in Bristol on Dec. 9, 1916, the son of the late John and Maria (Percocco) Battista. He retired from Clark Bros. Bolt Co. and had also worked at Peck, Stow and Wilcox Co. for many years.
Mr. Battista was the announcer and scorekeeper for the Northern Little League for 21 years. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and UCONN basketball fan. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a parishioner of St. Thomas Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Margaret (Salzillo) Battista; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Cathy (Morassini) Battista of South Meriden, two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Albert Cronkrite of Ocala, Fla., Mary Lou and Vincent Nolan of Danbury; a brother Rocco Battista of Marathon, Fla., three sisters, Josephine Silverio and Catherine DiVenere, both of Bristol, and Vita Hoberg of Reno, Nev., seven cherished grandchildren, Brianne, John, Christian, Sean, Susan, Joy and Caitlin; many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, 9:15 a.m., from the Della Vecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington, to St. Thomas Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Tuesday, June 8, from 4 to 8 p.m.
Leona L. Dowling
Mrs. Leona L. (Tyburszec) Dowling of 154 Heritage Drive, Naugatuck, died Sunday, June 6, 1999, at Yale New Haven Hospital after a long illness.
Mrs. Dowling was born in Brookfield, Conn., a daughter of the late Alexander and Helena (Kustoz) Tyburszec. She was a registered nurse at Yale New Haven Hospital and was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Naugatuck.
Mrs. Dowling is survived by two daughters: Katherine E. Dowling of Waterbury and Patricia M. Dowling of Litchfield; one son-in-law, Eric Lieberman of Litchfield; one brother, Vinnie Tyburszec of Brookfield; and three sisters: Mrs. Steffy Cerritelli of Derby, Mrs. Valerie Cornell of Hamden, and Mrs. Ann Setaro of Danbury.
A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 1999, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church. 318 Church St., Naugatuck. There are no calling hours.
The Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Av., Naugatuck is in charge of arrangements.

Ernest Joel Badillo
Ernest Joel Badillo, 23, of Echo Valley Road in Newtown met with an untimely accident and was tragically killed on June 7, 1999 in New York City.
He was born in Danbury on May 19, 1976, beloved son of Jill Edelstein Previs of Sandy Hook and Ernest C. Badillo of Newtown, stepson of Christine Badillo and James Previs, and adored brother of Jennifer Badillo and Todd Badillo.
He is also survived by his loving grandparents, Terri Edelstein of Southbury, Margaret Badillo of Brookfield and Philip Edelstein of Danbury.
Mr. Badillo was a 1994 graduate of Newtown High School and graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1998. He was a proud member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He was employed at Liubicich Commodities, at the World Trade Center in New York City.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, at a time to be announced, at the Newtown Congregational Church, 14 West St., Newtown. Burial will be in St. Rose Cemetery in Sandy Hook.
Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St., Newtown.

Robert F. Natale
Robert F. Natale, 56, husband of Jean (Yaglenski) Natale, of 61 Padanaram Road in Danbury, died at the Danbury Hospital on Monday evening, June 7, 1999 following a brief illness.
He was born in Danbury on May 25, 1943, son of the late Francis and R. Margaret (Barbarotto) Natale. A lifelong Danbury resident, he was a graduate of Henry Abbott Technical School. He had worked for many years at the former Mosler Research Co. of Danbury and later at General DataComm of Danbury. For the past three years he had been employed as a senior manufacturing engineer at Tornik of East Hartford, Conn. Mr. Natale had also worked part time for many years as a route delivery person for The News-Times.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Deborah J. Natale of Danbury; three sons, Robert F. Natale Jr., Ryan A. Natale and Randy C. Natale, all of Danbury; six brothers, Salvatore Natale, Ralph Natale, Michael Natale and Ronald Natale, all of Danbury, Sylvester Natale of New Fairfield and Henry Natale of Newtown; three sisters, Lucy Hrabcsak of Danbury, Marie Landolfi of Rhode Island and Rita Casey of New Fairfield; his mother-in-law, Lydia Yaglenski of Danbury and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, 11 a.m., at Sacred Heart Church in Danbury. Burial will take place in St. Peter Cemetery.

Lillian Kassib
Lillian Kassib, a lifelong resident of Bridgeport, active community volunteer and immediate past president of the International Institute of Connecticut, died June 8, 1999, in Southport Manor after a brief illness.
Ms. Kassib was the daughter of the late Martha (Nagam) and Aassad Kassib and the widow of Elias Mohagel. Ms. Kassib was educated in Bridgeport and was the retired comptroller of Collins and Leary.
Lillian was an active member of the board of directors of the International Institute of Connecticut for over 25 years. She was a past president and active member of Our Lady of Assumption Church of Fairfield.
She is survived by her son, Mitchell Mohagel, and his wife, Mary Anne; her daughter, Lorraine M. Dana; her grandchildren, Mark Cagle, and his wife, Patricia Scott Cagle, Leslie Wall and Mitchell P. Mohagel; 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Assumption Church in Fairfield. Burial will follow in Longcroft Cemetery, Fairfield.
The family welcomes all to the Mercy luncheon following the interment. The luncheon will be held at St. Nicholas Church, 5456 Park Ave., Bridgeport.

Julia Perchak Jones
Julia Perchak Jones, 78, of Northwest 25th Terrace, Boca Raton, Florida, died May 18, 1999 at Boca Raton Community Hospital.
Mrs. Jones owned and operated Cobbs Mill Inn in Weston from 1952 to 1986. She then retired to Boca Raton.
She is survived by her daughter Barbara and son-in-law Harry Graf of Bridgewater; a sister, Mary Kosloski of Leverett; a brother, Richard F. Perchack of Westport; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
There will be a Liturgy Saturday at 11 a.m. in Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Church, South Deerfield, Mass., with burial to follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
Donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association or to the charity of one's choice.
Michael A. LaValla
Michael A. LaValla, 62, a resident of Redding for the past nineteen years, died on Wednesday, June 9, at Norwalk Hospital. He was the husband of Julia Pereira LaValla.
Mr. LaValla was born in New Rochelle, NY, on December 27, 1936, a son of the late Vitorio and Michelina Alfano LaValla. He was the owner of M J L Limited, a property management business.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the United States Navy. Mr. LaValla was also a communicant at Sacred Heart Church in Georgetown.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of forty years, are his two daughters, Debra Roper of Bethel and Julie LaValla of Brookfield; two brothers, Albert LaValla of Raleigh, NC, and Frank LaValla of Florida; two sisters, Mary Bilotto of New Rochelle, NY, and Victoria Aloia of New Fairfield; and five grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 12, at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, Georgetown. The interment will follow in Branchville Cemetery, Ridgefield.

Warren F. Truchsess
Warren Francis Truchsess, 75, of South King Street, Danbury, died Tuesday at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York.
Mr. Truchsess was the husband of Agatha (Pernice) Truchsess. He was born in Queens, New York, June 26, 1923, a son of William and Sarah (Green) Truchsess.
Mr. Truchsess served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a retired office manager for the Norfolk Southern Railroad.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Danbury.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son Gregory Truchsess of Danbury; his daughter Diana Truchsess of Naugatuck; his brother Walter Truchsess of California; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Nicholas Joseph Fiore
Nicholas Joseph Fiore died on June 10, 1999. He was the son of Phil and Jill Fiore of Granby, Conn., and the grandson of Philip and Mattea Fiore and Larry Cole and the late Jean Cole.
A funeral service will be Friday, 2:30 p.m., at Beth Israel Memorial Park, Woodbridge, N.J. Burial will be in Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge.
Family will receive friends and relatives on Saturday and Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the family residence in Granby, Conn.
