Anna M. Kenney

Anna Zehnter Kenney, age 89, of Trumbull, Conn. died June 15, 1999 in St. Joseph's Manor.

Mrs. Kenney was born in the Bronx, N.Y. and resided in Danbury for 25 years before moving to Trumbull in 1988.

She was a retired executive secretary for 20 years and a Red Cross volunteer during blood banks for 15 years.

Mrs. Kenney was the widow of William J. Kenney. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Chuck Rancourt of Danbury; her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Margaret Zehnter of Halifax, Mass.; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, 9:15 a.m., in the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10 a.m. in St. Stephen's Church in Trumbull. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery in Queens, N.Y.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.

James Clifford Reynolds

James Clifford "Cliff" Reynolds, 87, of Marble Road in Orange, Conn., beloved husband of Grace Gotthardt Reynolds, died Saturday, June 12, 1999 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford after a brief illness.

Mr. Reynolds was born on June 14, 1911 in Ridgefield, Conn., son of the late James C. Reynolds Sr. and Mabel E. Van Steinburgh Reynolds.

He graduated from Danbury High School. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Connecticut State University and his master's degree from the University of Bridgeport.

Mr. Reynolds was a reading consultant for the Board of Education for the City of Milford for 14 years until retiring in 1978. Previously, he was a science teacher for the Wallingford school system.

He was a resident of Orange for 45 years.

Mr. Reynolds was a life member of the Association of Retired Teachers of Connecticut and a member of the Bridgeport Retired Teachers Association, the Church of the Good Shepherd in Orange, the Orange Historical Society, the Pyramid Temple Shrine in Milford and the Orange Masonic Square Club. He was a former president of the Pipes and Drums in Milford.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Reynolds is survived by a son, James C. Reynolds of Wakefield, R.I.; a brother, Gerald B. Reynolds of Falmouth, Mass.; three grandchildren, Tami Rudnicky of Williamsburg, Va., Cecily Reynolds of Wakefield, R.I. and James Reynolds of Wakefield, R.I.; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, June 26, 1999 at 11 a.m. in the Church of the Good Shepherd, 680 Race Brook Road, Orange. Committal will be private.

Arrangements are in care of the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street on the Green, Milford.

Robert J. Antanaitis

Robert J. Antanaitis, age 68, of Bethel, CT, died unexpectedly Wednesday at New Milford Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Emily Haas Antanaitis.

Mr. Antanaitis was born January 5, 1931 in Wilkes-Barre, PA a son of the late Algert P. and Margaret Lohman Antanaitis. He was a graduate of Indiana State Teacher's College, Indiana, PA with a BA in Speech and Hearing; and graduated from Penn State University with a Masters of Education.

A Bethel resident since 1959, Mr. Antanaitis was employed by the Fairfield Public School System as a Speech and Language Pathologist until his retirement in 1987. He served on the Bethel Board of Education from 1966 to 1973, the last four years as chairman. He was currently serving as the Vice Chairman of the Bethel Public Library Board of Directors and as the chairman of the Bethel Library Expansion Committee.

Mr. Antanaitis was a member and a faithful communicant of St. Mary's Church in Bethel. He was a former president of the Carousel Players, former chairman of the Apple Blossom Festival and former president of the Bethel Historical Society.

Besides his wife, Emily, of 41 years, he is survived by two daughters, Jennifer L. Antanaitis-Boyer and her husband James of Williamsburg, VA, Stephanie A. Nelson and her husband Bruce of Danbury, CT; one sister Margaret A. Blaine of Shavertown, PA; a nephew Bradley A. Blaine, Jr. of Shavertown, PA; an uncle Robert Anthony of Wilmington, CA and an aunt Emma Antanaitis of Naugatuck, CT.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Bethel Library Building Fund, 189 Greenwood Ave., Bethel, CT 06801 or to the American Cancer Society, 40 North St., Danbury, CT 06810.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, Bethel, Saturday morning at 9:30. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bethel.

The family will receive friends at the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Ave., Bethel, Friday evening from 5:00 to 8:00.

Joseph S. Wixted, III

Joseph S. "Jay" Wixted, III, age 48, of 283 Perkins Ave., Waterbury, died of cancer at Waterbury Hospital on Wednesday. He was born in Danbury, CT, June 11, 1951, son of Lois E. (Pannozza) Wixted of Danbury and the late Joseph S. Wixted, Jr.

He was a graduate o Fairfield Prep and received a Bachelor of Philosophy Degree from Fairfield University.

He owned and operated Jay's Catering Service in the Waterbury area.

He lived and worked in the Naugatuck and Waterbury area for the last 20 years.

He is survived by a son; Joseph B. Wixted and daughter; Christina L. Wixted both of Naugatuck and his mother; Lois (Pannozza) Wixted of Danbury and sister; Diane Wixted of East Hartford.

At Mr. Wixted's request, funeral services and burial will be private.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 372 Wilton Rd., Wilton, CT 06897.

Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, is in charge of arrangements.

Patricia A. Brennan

Patricia A. (Warner) Brennan, 54, of 34 Hunters Way, Newtown, Pa., wife of John "Jack" J. Brennan, died Wednesday, June 16, 1999 at her home.

Born in Washington, D.C. on December 30, 1944, she was the daughter of Helen J. (Wells) Warner of Danbury and the late Harlin Warner.

Mrs. Brennan was a former resident of Danbury and a graduate of the University of Kansas. She received her graduate degree in Occupational Therapy and had been employed previously as an occupational therapist.

Besides her husband and mother, Mrs. Brennan is survived by a son, Brendan Brennan of Newtown, Pa.; a daughter, Brie Mae Brennan of Newtown, Pa.; a brother, Harlin L. Warner of Brookfield, Conn.; a sister, Susan W. Warner of Danbury; a stepson, John J. Brennan Jr. of Honolulu, Hawaii; a brother-in-law and his wife, Jude and Carmella Brennan of Somers, Conn.; four nieces, Diane E. Brennan, Cynthia V. Berger, Bridget E. Spejewski and Morgan Lee Warner; and a nephew, Zachary Lucian Warner.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, 11 a.m., at the Somers Congregational Church, Main St. (Route 190), Somers, Conn. Burial will be in West Cemetery in Somers.

Mrs. Brennan's family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main Street (Route 190), Somers, Conn.

Memorial donations in Mrs. Brennan's name may be made to The Lewis School and Clinic, 53 Bayard Lane, Princeton, NJ 08540.

Keith P. Mayo

Keith P. Mayo, 46, of 1092 East Keystone Drive, Jupiter, Fla. died Tuesday, June 15, 1999 in West Palm Beach, Fla. as the result of an auto accident.

Mr. Mayo was born in Staten Island, N.Y. on August 11, 1952, a son of Anne (Parker) Mayo of Tequesta, Fla. and the late Joseph Mayo. He grew up in New Milford, Conn., graduated from New Milford High School and received a degree in law enforcement administration from the University of New Haven.

Mr. Mayo was employed as a constable in New Fairfield from 1973 to 1974. He was a member of the New Milford Police Department from 1974 to 1979, during which time he was a member of the Connecticut Narcotics Enforcement Officer Association. He worked for Carrier Corp. before forming his own detective agency, K. Parker Mayo, Inc. and Mayo Detective Agency.

Mr. Mayo was involved with youth athletic programs and with adult parks and recreation programs in New Milford. He was a member of Water Witch Hose Co. #2 in New Milford, St. Joseph's Church in Brookfield and St. Peter's Church in Jupiter, Fla. He was also a volunteer at Jupiter Hospital.

Besides his mother, of Tequesta, Fla., he is survived by Karen P. Mayo, mother of his children and friend; a son, Joseph P. Mayo; two daughters, Rebecca L. Mayo and Kristy M. Mayo, all of New Milford; a brother, Ronald Mayo of Tequesta, Fla.; two sisters, Barbara Larsen of Wendell, Idaho and Colleen Scalzo of Jupiter, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be on Monday, 11 a.m., at St. Joseph's Church in Brookfield, Conn.

Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St., New Milford is in charge of arrangements.

Tyral A.Rasmusson

The death of Tyral A. Rasmusson, 86, of Mendes Road in Danbury, wife of the late Marvin H. Rasmusson, occurred at Laurelwood in Ridgefield on Thursday morning, June 17, 1999.

Born in Lysekil, Sweden on October 16, 1912, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Agda C. Carlson Larson. She came to this country at the age of 9, settling in New York. She attended New York schools and Lambs Business School of Brooklyn.

Mrs. Rasmusson was married in New York in 1937. From 1939 until 1979 she lived in Peekskill, N.Y. and had been employed as a secretary in the Accounts Division of Reader's Digest for 21 years, retiring in 1977. She had also been employed as a secretary for the Phillip Morris Co.

In 1979 she moved to Florida and for the past two years had made her home in Danbury with her daughter, Diane B. Rose.

While in Peekskill, she was a member of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer and while in Florida, was a member of the VASA Club.

Besides her daughter, she is survived by a son, Robert M. Rasmusson of Richmond, Ky.; two sisters, Edith Greaker of New Port Richey, Fla. and Aina Nelson of Lysekil, Sweden; four grandchildren, Robert S. Rasmusson, Kathryn G. Norton, Todd D. Rose and Christopher J. Rose; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, at a time to be announced, at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury. The Rev. Frederick Marcouz, pastor of the Prince of Peace Church in Brookfield, will officiate. Cremation will follow.

Friends may call on Friday from 7 to 9:00 p.m. at the Cornell Memorial Home.

Dorothy Sarah Holman

Dorothy Sarah Holman, 91, of Danbury, Conn. died Wednesday, June 16, 1999 at Danbury Hospital.

She was born in Hartford, Conn. on June 5, 1908, a daughter of Winfield S. and Harriet Lenora (Gauthier) Holman.

Miss Holman graduated from Danbury High School in 1925 and went on to receive a B.A. in physical education in 1929 from Sargent College, now a division of Boston University. She continued her education at the University of Wisconsin and New York University.

Miss Holman taught at Western Connecticut State University for many years. She was a member of A.A.U.W. and the First Congregational Church of Danbury.

She is survived by two sisters, Shirley H. Repko and Gail H. Plancon, both of Danbury; three nieces, Marcia Plancon of Davis, Calif., Robin Shanley of Bethel and Martha Velie-Gass of Cambridge, Mass.; and several grandnieces and grandnephews. Miss Holman was predeceased by a sister, Harriette Velie, and a niece, Kathryn Francisco.

Contributions in her memory may be made to Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut, 30 West St., Danbury, CT 06810 or the Block Island Conservancy, Block Island, RI 02804.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday after 10:30 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Danbury, 164 Deer Hill Ave.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, 11 a.m., at the First Congregational Church. A reception will follow in the church hall.

The Tomlinson Homestead, 336 Main St., Danbury is in charge of arrangements.

Elsie "Helen" Lyon

Elsie "Helen" Lyon, age 70, of Wheaten Road in Marbledale, Conn. died Wednesday, June 16, 1999 at New Milford Hospital. She was the widow of Eugene "Chet" Lyon.

Born on April 20, 1929 in Stratford, Conn., she was the daughter of John Hodgson of New Milford and the late Elsie Hodgson. Mrs. Lyon was a graduate of the University of Connecticut. She taught home economics in Auburn, Mass. for one year before leaving to teach in New Milford in the 1950s.

Mrs. Lyon took time off from teaching to raise her family and returned in 1972 to Shepaug Valley High School, retiring in 1985. She was a past president of the Shepaug Valley NEA.

Mrs. Lyon was involved with the Washington Republican Town Committee in the 1960s. She served on the Washington Counseling Service board for 20 years. She started a nursery school in Marbledale in the late 1950s which is now Judea Nursery School. She served on the Chestnut Grove Elderly Housing Committee.

Mrs. Lyon was very active in her youth in the AMC, hiking and canoeing, and she enjoyed swimming all her life. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in New Milford.

Besides her father, Mrs. Lyon is survived by a son, Mark E. Lyon of New Preston, Conn.; two daughters, Jill L. Linder of Marbledale, Conn. and Jan E. Rodger of New Milford, Conn.; a sister, Janet E. Preston of Altadena, Calif.; six grandchildren, Sarah, Mark and David Lyon, Mindy and Scott Rodger and Kara Linder; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lyon was predeceased by a brother, Herbert Hodgson.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, 11 a.m., at the First Congregational Church in New Milford. Burial will be in Center Cemetery in New Milford.

Family will receive friends on Friday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Colonial Funeral Home, 87 Park Lane Road, New Milford.
