Frances Rogers
Frances Rogers died on June 17, 1999 in the Danbury Hospital after a brief illness. She was 74 and the wife of Edward Rogers. She lived at Brookfield Meadows in Brookfield.
Mrs. Rogers was born in Dublin, Ireland on March 8, 1925, daughter of Bridget (Feeney) Mulhere and the late John Mulhere. She came to the United States in 1951 and to Brookfield 20 years ago. She had retired as bookkeeper for the Village Bank in Ridgefield after 15 years of service.
Mrs. Rogers was a member of St. Joseph Church in Brookfield and The Ancient Order of Hibernians. She was a well-known seamstress in the Brookfield area.
Besides her husband and her mother, of Dublin, Ireland, she is survived by three brothers, John, Hubert and Padraig Mulhere; three sisters, Myra Ward, Agatha McKeown and Theresa O'Neill, all of Ireland; a sister-in-law, Barbara Stack of Milford, Conn.; several nieces and nephews and one grandniece.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, 1 p.m., at St. Joseph Church in Brookfield. Burial will be in Central Cemetery in Brookfield.
Friends may call on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield.

Samuel Lesser
Samuel Lesser, age 81, died at the Danbury Hospital on Thursday, June 17, 1999 after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Roslyn Balsam Lesser and lived at 8 Marion St. in Danbury.
Mr. Lesser was born in Newville, Pa. on January 13, 1918, son of the late William and Anna Long Lesser. He graduated from City College of New York, Class of 1939, with a B.S. in Chemistry.
Mr. Lesser served in the Army of Occupation in Japan during World War II. He settled in Danbury in 1980, having summered here since the 1950s. He was a self-employed plumber for Hillcrest Plumbing and Heating in New York.
He was a member of the Jewish War Veterans and the Danbury Concert and Choral Societies. Mr. Lesser was a frequent contributor to the News-Times Community Forum and Letters to the Editor.
He is survived by his daughters, Anne-Gail Lesser-Lufrano of Jacksonville, Fla. and Barbara Lesser-Tessmann of San Francisco, Calif.; four grandchildren, Matthew, Reuben, Rachel and Elizabeth Lufrano, all of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Eva Hall of North Miami Beach, Fla. and Helene Ramer of Beechhurst, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, 10 a.m., at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury, with Rabbi Vivian Mayer of Congregation B'Nai Israel officiating. Burial will be in New Montefiore Cemetery in Farmingdale, Long Island, N.Y.
Friends and family will be received on Monday from 5 to 9 p.m. at 8 Marion St., Danbury, Conn.

Gretel Mayer
Gretel Mayer of 14 Rolling Wood Drive, Brookfield, widow of Walter Mayer, died June 18, 1999, at the Bethel Health Care Center.
Mrs. Mayer was born in Germany on July 25, 1921, a daughter of the late Ernst & Berth Schwarz.
She is survived by her loving children, Shirley & Bruce Malcolm of Brookfield and Renee Doenias of Brookfield; and by her cherished grandchildren, Courtney & Justin Malcolm.
Funeral services will be at the United Jewish Center Cemetery, Grey's Bridge Rd., Brookfield, on Monday morning at 11 a.m. A period of mourning will be observed at 14 Rolling Wood Drive, Brookfield.

Annette Spannaus
Annette Spannaus, 75, of 295 North Street, Roxbury, wife of Fred C. Spannaus, MD, died Friday, June 18, 1999 at her home.
Mrs. Spannaus was born Jan. 25, 1924 in Carbon, Hill, Ala. the daughter of the late Harry and Della (Bookout) Michael. She graduated Marietta High School in Marietta, Ga., and Emory University School of Nursing. She had worked as a nurse for many years; from 1969 to 1975 she had been an emergency room nurse at Danbury and Griffin Hospitals. Mrs. Spannaus had lived in Danbury and Brookfield, moving to Roxbury in 1969.
Besides her husband, she is survived by 2 sons, John Spannaus of Austin, Texas, and Michael Spannaus of Roxbury; a daughter, Linda Emma of New Milford; 2 brothers, Larry & Harold Michael, both of Powder Springs, Ga.; 2 sisters, Bessie Drake of Apharetta, Ga., and Margaret Cutts of Seffner, Fla.; 8 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main Street North, Route 6, on Monday, June 21, 1999 from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held immediately following the calling hours at the funeral home. Helen V. Honey
Helen V. Honey, 86, of Fishkill, N.Y., and formerly of Danbury, died June 17, 1999. She was the wife of Samuel Honey.
Mrs. Honey was born in New York City on Nov. 13, 1912, a daughter of Robert and Agnes Piltz Matthews. She was married on June 9, 1935, in the Bronx, N.Y.
Before her retirement, she had been employed as a manager of Countdown in Bethel.
She was a member of the Old Post Mall Senior Citizens in Fishkill and enjoyed crocheting, cooking and travelling. She had lived in Danbury before moving to Fishkill 10 years ago.
Besides her husband, she is survived by three children and their spouses, Frank & Marianne Honey of Lincoln, R.I., John & Judith Honey of Southport, CT, and Helen & Francis Rossetti of Wappingers Falls, N.Y.; a sister, Judith Kircher of Danbury; four granddaughters, Carolyn & Diana Rossetti of Wappingers Falls and Elizabeth Crocker of Massachusetts and Kathryn Honey of Rhode Island; two great-grandsons, Evan & Samuel Crocker; and several nieces and nephews.

Louis J. Jandreau
Louis J. Jandreau, age 67, of Patterson, NY, died June 19, 1999 at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel, NY. He was the husband of Theresa M. Jandreau.
Mr. Jandreau was born in St. Francis, ME on April 4, 1932 to the late Edward R. and Belle (Kelley) Jandreau. He graduated from schools in Allagash, ME and was an Army veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1952 to 1954.
Mr. Jandreau married Theresa M. (Thibodeau) Jandreau on July 31, 1951 in St. Francis, ME.
Mr. Jandreau was a heavy equipment operator for the Town of Patterson Highway Department since 1991. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake R.C. Church in Lake Carmel, NY and a resident of Patterson for the past 10 years. Mr. Jandreau had lived in Gaylordsville, CT for 28 years and in Maine for many years prior.
Besides his wife of 48 years, Mr. Jandreau is survived by a son, E. Allen Jandreau of Fort Fairfield, ME and two daughters, Kathryn G. Bordick of Patterson, NY and Tammy A. Jandreau of Lagrangeville, NY; two brothers, Merle Jandreau of Ocala, FL and Samuel Michaud of Gaylordsville, CT; four sisters, Esther Mae Pelletier of St. Francis, ME, Anna Anderson of Caribou, ME, Leitha Kelly of Allagash, ME, Loretta Thompson of St. Francis, ME; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Marion Ellen Semprevio
Mrs. Marion Ellen (Hughes) Semprevio, 51, of 326 Stanley St., Havertown, PA, wife of Jerry D. Semprevio, died Friday June 18, 1999 at her home.
Mrs. Semprevio was born in Mahopac, N.Y., a daughter of Joseph C. Hughes of Waterbury, Conn. and the late Mary (Stokes) Hughes and was educated in the Brewster, N.Y. school system. She was a graduate of Brewster High School, Class of 1966 and was a graduate of Berkeley Secretarial School in White Plains, N.Y.
She was a former resident of Gloversville, N.Y. and had been a resident of Havertown since 1979. She was employed as a Legal Assistant with the law firm of Drinker, Biddle and Reath for the past 15 years, until her illness. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and was active with "Living Beyond Breast Cancer".
Besides her husband of 31 years and her father, she leaves one daughter, Andrea L. Semprevio, Havertown; two sisters, Maureen E. Ford of Naugatuck, Conn. and Joan C. Harrison, New Fairfield, Associate Director of Student Life at Western Conn. State Univ. and several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Manoa Rd., Havertown. A graveside service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Lawrence O'Toole Cemetery, Brewster, N.Y. Joseph M. Dolan
Joseph M. Dolan, age 64, of Brewster, NY, husband of Jane (Davis) Dolan, died unexpectedly Saturday, June 19, 1999 at the Putnam Hospital Center, Carmel, NY. He was born October 15, 1934 in Mt. Kisco, NY, the son of the late Joseph and Winifred (Wright) Dolan. He graduated from Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, NY.
Mr. Dolan served in the U.S. Marines from 1953 to 1956. He was employed by Brewster Transit Mix for over 28 years and retired in 1996. He was a member of Teamster Local 456, a former member of the Brewster Volunteer Fire Dept. and a communicant of St. Lawrence O'Toole Church in Brewster.
On May 30, 1958 he married Ann McGrath in Mt. Kisco, NY. She died July 29, 1977. On March 14, 1986 he married Jane Davis at St. Lawrence O'Toole Church in Brewster.
Besides his wife he is survived by 3 sons, Matthew F. Dolan of Summerville, SC, Daniel P. Dolan and Edward J. Dolan both of Dover Plains, NY, one daughter Catherine T. Kohler of Manlius, NY, one brother Robert Dolan of Mt. Kisco, NY, five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Charles W. Asmar
Charles W. Asmar, 81, of 134 Deer Hill Avenue, Danbury, formerly of 85 Garfield Avenue, Danbury, husband of the late Josephine (Slaiby) Asmar, died on Saturday evening at the Bethel Healthcare Center, Bethel.
Mr. Asmar was born in Danbury, November 14, 1917, a son of the late John and Edith (Farriss) Asmar. He attended St. Peter School and the Danbury High School.
He was a former hatter and in later years had been employed by the Republic Foil Company of Danbury retiring in 1985.
He was a World War Two US Army veteran having served with the 192 Field Artillery.
He was a member of the Candlewood Chapter of AARP, the VFW, the McGivney Council #29, Knights of Columbus all of Danbury as well as St. Anthony's Maronite Catholic Church of Danbury where he had served as head usher of the Saturday, 5PM Liturgy as well as a member of the former Holy Name Society.
Mr. Asmar is survived by a daughter, Georgia A. Grubb of Ellington, CT, two sisters, Martha Schunk of Brookfield, CT and Alice White of North Carolina, two granddaughters, Jennifer Grubb and Suzanne Grubb as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, John C. Asmar.
The Liturgy of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:30AM in St. Anthony's Maronite Catholic Church, 17 Granville Avenue, Danbury, with the Rev. Larry Jensen, officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury, with military honors.
Friends will be received in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Avenue, Danbury on Tuesday from 5 to 8 PM.
The Service of Incense will be offered in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home on Tuesday evening at 7:30PM.

Mark E. Barney
Mark E. Barney, age 27, of Nature View Trail, Bethel, beloved son of Alan F. and Carol Makszin Barney of Bethel died at home on Saturday.
He was born in Danbury on December 31, 1971 and had been a Bethel resident all of his life. He was a graduate of Bethel High School and the Connecticut School of Electronics, and was also attending Western Connecticut State University. Mr. Barney had worked at Branson Ultrasonic and was currently working as a Production Test Technician at Kendro Laboratory Products in Newtown.
Mr. Barney was a black belt in karate and was an instructor at Karate America in Bethel.
Besides his parents, Mr. Barney is survived by a brother, Peter A. Barney of Bethel; six sisters, Kathleen A. Cuicci of Fairfield, CT, Lisa M. Barney of Hartford, CT, Kimberly L. Athridge of Liberty, KY, Melanie S. Brooks, Christine L. Barney and Michelle E. Barney all of Bethel; his paternal grandparents Harriet and Fred Barney of Millerton. NY; as well as 2 uncles and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Church, Bethel, Wednesday morning at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bethel, CT.
The family will receive friends at the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Ave., Bethel, Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00.
Stacia Sacco
Stacia (Pieta) Sacco, 84, formerly of 7 South Rd., Southington, CT, died Sunday June 20, 1999 at Norwalk Hospital. She was the wife of the late Joseph Sacco.
Born Nov. 11, 1914 in Fall River, MA daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Drozd) Pieta. She was a parishioner of St. Thomas Church and a member of the Calendar House.
She is survived by a daughter Jane Therrien of Stratford, 2 sisters, Jane Podesky of Fall River, MA and Claire Jones of AR, 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son Vital Lajoie, Jr.
The Funeral will be held Wednesday 9:15 a.m. from the Della Vecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to St. Thomas Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday, TODAY, 5-8 p.m.
John J. Colbert
John Joseph Colbert, age 46, of 2 Duck St., Danbury, died at his home on Sunday.
Mr. Colbert was born in Danbury, Nov. 12, 1952 son of the late Marian P. Colbert. He was a Danbury area resident all his life. For many years he worked at Dupont-Sorville in Newtown, and for the past several years he had been driving a Taxi Cab for JIN Taxi in Danbury. He was an avid Bingo player.
Mr. Colbert is survived by a sister, Vickie C. Donnelly of Danbury; 2 nieces Bobbie L. Duque of Danbury and April D. Poster of Concord, NH; a grandnephew Brandon E. Alvarez of Danbury; and his girlfriend Eva A. Barnes of Danbury.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
The family will receive friends at the Hull Funeral Home, 60 Division St., Danbury, Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00. Cremation will be at the convenience of the family.
