Frances Haymon
Frances (Hickey) Haymon, 76, of 7 Pondview Terrace, Danbury, wife of the late Louis C. Haymon, died at Danbury Hospital on June 20, 1999.
She was born in Springdale, CT, Dec. 26, 1922, a daughter of the late Charles and Lillian (Young) Hickey. She was educated in Stamford schools and lived in Stamford until moving to the Greater Danbury area in 1958.
At the time of her retirement, Mrs. Haymon was employed as a floor person for the former Medalic Arts Co.
She was a member of St. Peter Church.
Mrs. Haymon is survived by a brother, Charles Hickey of Danbury; and four nephews, Joseph Hickey, James Hickey and John Hickey, all of Stamford, and Charles Hickey of Pound Ridge, NY.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter Church Friday morning at 9 a.m.
Cremation took place at the convenience of the family. Interment of Mrs. Haymon's cremains will take place in Mountainview Cemetery, New Fairfield following the Mass on Friday. There were no calling hours.

Elizabeth A. Sullivan
The death of Elizabeth "Betty" A. Sullivan, 90, of Royal Road, Danbury, occurred at the Danbury Hospital Monday morning.
She was the wife of the late Charles J. Sullivan.
Born in Elmsford, N.Y., November 12, 1908, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Willard. She attended Elmsford Schools.
She lived in the Bronx, N.Y., and Yonkers, N.Y. before moving to Danbury 30 years ago. As a young woman, she worked in White Plains as a secretary, her later years were devoted to her home.
She was a member of St. Gregory the Great Church, Brookfield AARP #576 and R.S.V.P. Until recently she was an active volunteer for the American Cancer Society.
She is survived by a daughter, Cathy Mitchell with whom she made her home and was pre-deceased by a stepdaughter, Dorothy Lieberman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Gregory the Great Church, 85 Great Plain Rd., Thursday morning at 10:00.
Interment will be in St. Peter Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Wednesday from 3 to 5:00 and 7 to 9:00.

Thomas Coughlin
Thomas F. Coughlin died June 20, 1999 at the Danbury Hospital at the age of 68. He was a resident of Summit Dr. Apts. in New Milford. Mr. Coughlin was born in Yonkers, NY Nov. 20, 1930 son of the late Thomas F. and Mary E. (Chinnery) Coughlin. He received his early education there and graduated from Manhattan College with his B.S. in Business. Mr. Coughlin served in the Army during Korea. He was President and Chief Executive Officer for the Isabella Geriatric Center in New York and retired after 32 years of service. He served as President of the NY Assoc. of Homes and Services for the Aging from 1972 to 1976.
Mr. Coughlin is survived by his daughters: Barbara Damon-Hill of Washington, CT and Carol McKay of New Milford, CT, and his four grandchildren: Alison Damon, Michael Hill, Katie McKay and Joey McKay. He was predeceased by his daughter Kathleen Coughlin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church in Brookfield. Burial will be in Center Cemetery New Milford, Ct. Michael A. Toscano
The death of Michael A. Toscano, 86, of Stadley Rough Road, Danbury, husband of Florence Davis Toscano, occurred at the Danbury Hospital on Saturday morning.
Born in Caserta, Italy, Sept. 29, 1912, he was the son of the late Raffaele and Maria Farina Toscano. He came to this country at the age of 7 and settled in Danbury where he has resided since. He attended Danbury schools. His marriage to Mrs. Toscano was in Danbury and on July 1, 1999 they would have celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary.
Mr. Toscano had been employed as a hatter for the Mallory Hat Co. and the former Bieber Goodman Hat Co. for 52 years retiring in 1978.
He was a member of St. Gregory the Great Church and the local Hatters Union.
Besides his wife, he is survived by 2 sons; Ralph Toscano of New Milford and Michael Toscano of Danbury; a daughter, Marie Toscano-Saviano; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Philomena Lopes.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great Church, 85 Great Plain Road, Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury. Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury. Sarah H. Barnum
Sarah Henrietta Gardner Barnum, age 90, of Dowling Park, Fla., formerly of Danbury, Conn., died on Sunday, June 20, 1999 in Dowling Park, Fla. She was the widow of Chester A. Barnum.
Mrs. Barnum was born in Danbury on July 10, 1908, a daughter of the late Henry C. and Loretta Wilkes Gardner. She lived in Danbury until 1950, moving to Unadilla, N.Y. In 1989 she moved to Dowling Park, Fla.
She was a former member of the Advent Christian Church in Danbury and was secretary of the Loyal Workers for many years and primary age Sunday school class. She was a member of the Advent Christian Church in Dowling Park and taught adult nursing home classes at the church.
Mrs. Barnum is survived by a sister, Elmina Marie Gardner of Dowling Park, Fla.; a niece, Shirley Tucker of North Richmond Hills, Texas; one nephew; two grandnieces; four grandnephews; as well as several great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, 1 p.m., at Wooster Cemetery in Danbury. There are no calling hours. Hull Funeral Service, 60 Division St., Danbury is handling arrangements.
Carmen A. Gonzalez
Carmen A. Gonzalez, 89, of 15 Harding Place in Danbury, wife of the late Emilio Gonzalez, died on Sunday afternoon, June 20, 1999 at her home.
Mrs. Gonzalez was born in Puerto Rico on August, 23, 1909. She had been a resident of Danbury since 1955 and was retired from the American Radionics Corporation of Danbury.
She was a member of the Good Shepherd Church, Assembly of God, of Danbury.
She is survived by a son, Jose F. Torres of Browns Mills, N.J., and a sister, Maria Leon of New York, N.Y.
Funeral services will take place on Friday, 1:30 p.m., in the Good Shepherd Church, 5-7 Spring St., Danbury with the Rev. Cesar Velez, pastor, officiating. Interment will take place in Wooster Cemetery in Danbury.
Friends will be received on Friday after 1 p.m. at the Good Shepherd Church.

Josephine M. Walendzik
Josephine M. (Hassiak) Walendzik, 86, of 26 Springside Ave. in Danbury, wife of the late Edward J. Walendzik Sr., died at Danbury Hospital on June 21, 1999.
She was born in Roxbury, Conn. on October 2, 1912, daughter of the late Kasimer and Mary (Ciska) Hassiak. She graduated from Roxbury High School.
Mrs. Walendzik worked at Remington Arms in Bridgeport during World War II. She was later employed by Barden Corporation, retiring in 1977 at the age of 65.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Danbury and had been a winter resident of Tampa, Fla. since 1979.
Mrs. Walendzik is survived by a son, Edward J. Walendzik Jr. of Danbury; a daughter, Gloria A. Walendzik of Tampa, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, 10 a.m., at Sacred Heart Church in Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.

William J. Benincasa
William J. Benincasa, 66, of 76 Liberty Street, Danbury died Tuesday morning, June 22, 1999 at Danbury Hospital after being stricken ill at his home on Monday night.
Mr. Benincasa was born in Danbury on March 22, 1933, a son of the late Betty and Caetano Cordeiro and the late Desadario Benincasa. He attended Danbury schools and served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. He served in the National Guard for 16 years, attaining the rank of master sergeant.
Mr. Benincasa joined the Danbury Police Department in 1957 and retired in 1975 as a sergeant. He was an expert marksman and a member of the first police scuba diving team in Danbury.
After early retirement, Mr. Benincasa established several local businesses, most recently a carpet installation service for the Danbury area.
He was a member of the Beckerle Hose Company, a member of the Vespucci Lodge, the Elks Lodge, the Concordia Society, the Moose Lodge and the Danbury PBA.
Mr. Benincasa was a generous spirit always known to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Survivors include three sons, Robert J., David J. and Scott D., all of Danbury; one daughter, Debra J. Davis of Oil City, Pa.; one brother, Ralph Benincasa of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; one sister, Betty Lopes of Danbury; and two former wives, Aurora Manoni Benincasa and Phylliss Corrow Benincasa, both of Danbury. Mr. Benincasa was predeceased by his brother, Caetano Cordeiro Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Peter's Church in Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery.

Eugene Charles Katan
Eugene Charles Katan, 40, of Danbury died unexpectedly on Sunday, June 20, 1999 at Danbury Hospital.
He was born in Danbury, Conn. on December 22, 1958, the son of the late Charles H. and Marjorie M. (Keene) Katan of Danbury. He graduated from Danbury High School in 1976. He worked at Tuxedo Junction in Danbury as an entertainment booking agent for six years. He had been currently working as a service technician for Wagner pools in Bridgeport.
Mr. Katan is survived by a son, Christopher C. Katan of Danbury; a daughter, Michele M. Katan of Danbury; his fiancee, Victoria Baskay of Danbury; two sisters, Patricia A. Mosley of Essex Junction, Vt. and Pamela A. Katan of Denver, Colo.; two nephews, Michael and James Mosley of Essex Junction, Vt.; and an aunt, Sally Crawford of Danbury.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, 8 p.m., in the Hull Home, 60 Division Street, Danbury with the Rev. Clare M. Ingham officiating. Cremation will take place at Connecticut Crematory in Stamford, Conn.
Family will receive friends on Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Hull Home.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Eugene Katan will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 3, 1999 in St. Gregory's Church in Danbury.

Shirley V. Megill
Shirley Velardi Megill, 62, of 22 Underhill Road in Sandy Hook, Conn. died on Tuesday, June 22, 1999 at Danbury Hospital after being stricken at home. She was the wife of Donald J. Megill.
Mrs. Megill was born in New Haven, Conn. on March 15, 1937, the daughter of Ella Muzzi Velardi of Phoenix, Ariz. and the late Anthony Velardi. She retired in 1998 after nine years of service working at Sandy Hook Elementary School for Marriott Food Service. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church of Newtown.
Besides her husband and mother, she leaves a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Kathleen) McNamara of Northford, Conn.; sons Michael Megill of North Haven, Conn. and Jerome P. Megill of New Haven, Conn.; a sister, Carolyn Esposito of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren Christina and Ryan Megill, Matthew McNamara and Jacob, Shannon and Amanda Megill; two nieces and a nephew.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven on Friday at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Barnbas Church in North Haven at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven.
The visiting hours will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Dominic J. Troccola
Dominic J. Troccola, 84, husband of Frances (Macchiaverna) Troccola, of 14 Stevens St., Danbury, died at the Danbury Hospital on Tuesday, June 22, 1999.
He was born in Danbury on June 16, 1915, son of the late James and Marie (Falcetano) Troccola. He was a lifelong Danbury resident. As a young man, Mr. Troccola operated a service station on South Street in Danbury. He later worked as a hatter at Mutual Rough Hat Co. After hatting, he worked at Consolidated Controls until retiring in 1978.
Mr. Troccola was a member of St. Peter Church and was a bowler and an avid gardener.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sisters, Philomena Ruiz and Lena Gebert, both of Danbury, and several nieces and nephews.
