Hazel Brennan
Hazel Brennan, 84, a lifelong Danbury resident, died Monday at Mediplex of Danbury.
Ms. Brennan, of 7 Mountainview Terrace, was born in Danbury, Oct. 17, 1914, a daughter of William and Viola (Thorpe) Brennan. She attended Danbury schools and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Peter Church.
Her survivors include a daughter, Shirley Brennan of Danbury; a brother, William Brennan of Danbury; a sister, Sarah Zack of Danbury; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son,. Charles R. Brennan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter Church, on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m.
Isabelle Wraschek
Isabelle Wraschek, 91, of Inglenook Road, New Fairfield, died Sunday at Glen Hill Convalescent Center, Danbury.
She was the wife of the late Franz Wraschek.
Mrs. Wraschek was born in Philadelphia, Pa., October 22, 1907, a daughter of Henry and Marguerita Patacki.
She was a resident of New Fairfield for over 50 years and was a member of the New Fairfield Senior Center. She worked as a machinist for the Barden Corporation in Danbury.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ernie and Veronica Wraschek of New Fairfield, Conn., and Cheserex, Switzerland; two grandsons, Michael Wraschek of California and Richard Wraschek of Florida; and Betty Jo Wraschek of Florida.

A graveside service will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Mountainview Cemetery, New Fairfield.
Bertha Perry
Bertha Perry of Highland Avenue, Danbury, died Sunday at Filosa Convalescent Center, Danbury, at the age of 105. She was a lifelong resident of Danbury and was the wife of the late Harry Sherman Perry. Mrs. Perry was born in Danbury, Conn., December 5, 1893, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rockwell.
A private burial will take place in the Wooster Cemetery, Danbury. The Tomlinson Homestead, 336 Main Street, Danbury, is in charge of the arrangements.
Margarethe L.MacNeil-White
Margarethe Lisa MacNeil-White, 39, of South Street, Morris, Conn., died Monday, April 19, at her home.
She was the wife of Dalton White.
She was born February 19, 1960, in Torrington, daughter of Lucy Adell (McAvoy) MacNeil and the late Laurence G. MacNeil.
She attended Cornwall Consolidated School, and graduated from Housatonic Valley High School and Warren-Wilson College in Ashville, N.C. She received her Master Gardener certificate from the Cary Arboretum in Millbrook, N.Y. Working throughout Litchfield County as a horticulturist, she specialized in alpine and perennial gardens. An avid traveler and naturalist, she loved all living things, whether they had two legs, four legs, wings or roots.
In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by two brothers, Laurence L. MacNeil of Warren and Roderick J. MacNeil of Cornwall; four sisters, Shelly E. Strid of Gaylordsville, Lauren M. Walsh of Sharon, Kathleen A. MacNeil of Chicago and Amanda Eller-MacNeil of Andover.
Funeral service and burial will be private. The family will receive friends at the Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield, on Friday, April 23 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Anne B. Larsen
Anne B. Clady Larsen, age 77, of Trumbull, died Sunday, April 18, 1999, in her home.
Mrs. Larsen, wife of the late Roy H. Larsen Sr., was born in Danbury and was a Fairfield and Trumbull resident for over 50 years. Mrs. Larsen was a retired employee for the Highfield Manufacturing Company of Bridgeport.
She is survived by two sons, Roy H. Larsen Jr., of Trumbull and Carl A. Larsen of Palm Dale, Calif.; one brother, William Pullen of Bethel; four grandchildren, one great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Wednesday (today) at 11 a.m. in The Larson Funeral Home, 2496 North Ave., Bridgeport. Burial will be in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends may call on Wednesday prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the Gambro Health Care Dialysis Center, 900 Madison Avenue, Bridgeport.
William H.Smith Jr.
William H. Smith Jr., 65, a native Danburian, and resident of 46 Balmforth Avenue, died Tuesday at Danbury Hospital, following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Smith was born April 28, 1933, a son of the late William Henry and Louise Butler Smith, and had been a veteran of service with the United States Army, during the Korean War. He had begun a career as an upholsterer with the former Castro Convertible furniture company in Danbury; following his return to Danbury after the war he had worked at the Filosa Convalescent Center, and later St. Joseph's Heritage House, prior to his retirement in 1994, after the closing of the Castro plant.
He is survived by his sister, Betty L. Hafer of New Milford, his brother, Richard W. Butler of Gaylordsville, two nieces, a nephew, and his best friend, companion, and care-giver, Rocco F. Tomanio, with whom he had made his home.
Friends are invited to attend a funeral service at The Tomlinson Homestead, 336 Main Street, Danbury, on Friday, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Carolyn Dukenski, interim pastor of St. James' Episcopal Church Danbury, will officiate.

Dean M. Unger
Dean M. Unger, of 302 Village Square, Danbury, Conn., formerly of Hanover, Pa., died April 19, 1999, at Connecticut Hospice.
Mr. Unger was an engineer with I.B.M.
He was born December 30, 1924 in Hanover, a son of the late Amos and Annie (Bortner) Unger.
A U.S. Army veteran of WW II, he received the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, American Service Medal, WWII Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
Survivors include three brothers, George E. Unger and T. Burnell Unger, both of Hanover, and Wilmer D. Unger of York, Pa.; two sisters, Mary C. Myers of Littlestown. Pa. and Jean M. Nagel of Warsaw, Ind. He was predeceased by five brothers, Cletus W. Unger, Earl C. Unger, Robert K. Unger, Harold D. Unger and Millard G. Unger.

Doris Zaffino
Doris Waterbury Zaffino died April 20, 1999 at her home in West Redding. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 43 years, E. Richard, her five children, Richard of Kirkland, Wash.; Dory Corrigan of Brookfield; Paula Keeler of Danbury; Amy Gaal of Bridgewater; Matt of Portland, Ore.; grandchildren Rachel Keeler, Christy, Dave and Liz Corrigan; three brothers: Charles, Robert and Philip Waterbury of Stamford; three sisters: Barbara Kenoyer of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Sharon Lowden and Sally Ann Broadhurst of Stamford, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was past president of the Ridgefield Chapter of AARP, former Treasurer and Board member of the Connecticut Poetry Society, a member of the World United Church, and an active member of the Ridgefield Early Birds where her love and influence continue to be an inspiration.
She was born on June 28, 1930 in Stamford, daughter of Doris (Friend) and Jack Waterbury. She lived in Stamford until 1967 when she moved to West Redding. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Stamford, attended Norwalk Community College, and graduated with a bachelor's degree in social work from Western Connecticut State University. She was active in local volunteer organizations including Quilts for the Homeless, Literacy Volunteers, and Meals on Wheels.
Doris, a giving wife, Mom, and friend, was a fountain of joy and a rainbow of happiness in the lives of the many she touched. We will miss her, but her smile, love and sense of humor will remain with us always.
The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 22, at Bouton Funeral Home, 31 West Church Street, Georgetown. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 23 at Sacred Heart Church, Church Street, Georgetown.

Armand Coullet
Armand Coullet, 58, of 82 West Redding Road, Danbury, died Thursday, April 22, 1999, in Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of Anita Gillette Coullet.
Born in Jackson, Miss., Aug. 19, 1940, he was a son of Magnolia Simpson Coullet of Jackson and the late Armand Coullet.
Mr. Coullet graduated from high school in Jackson, Miss., and from Milsaps College, Jackson, then went on to earn a master's degree from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md., a Ph.D. from the University of Denver, and a C.S.W. degree from Fordham University in Tarrytown, N.Y.
Mr. Coullet was employed by the Catholic Family Charities of Danbury as a family preservation therapist. He moved to Danbury from New York City in 1983.
Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by two step-sons, Timothy Gillette of Boston, Mass., and Christopher Gillette of Seattle, Wash.; and four grandchildren.
Cremation will take place at the convenience of the family. Memorial services will take place at a later date and time. There will be no calling hours.

Norma McCarthy Yorks
Norma Lorraine McCarthy Yorks, 52, of Hopewell, Va., died Tuesday, April 20, 1999, in John Randolph Medical Center. She was born in Danbury, daughter of the late Ambrose and Katherine Stock McCarthy.
She is survived by two sons, Frank Mills of New Milford and Sean McCarthy of Waterbury; two daughters, Deborah DeSouza of Hopewell, Va., and Katherine Surovy of Waterbury; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Kathleen Dawid of Danbury; and Carol Woodruff of Kalona, Iowa; three brothers, James McCarthy and John McCarthy, both of Danbury, and Robert McCarthy of Brookfield; and several nieces and nephews.
A small service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Russell B.Palmer II
Russell Benedict Palmer II, age 55, of Danbury, died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. Born in Bridgeport, he lived most of his life at Southbury Training School, and for the past eight years was a resident of the Wooster Heights Home in Danbury.
He is survived by his mother, Sevrin Saum Palmer, and his family, Drew Palmer, Paige and Wally Herman, all of Fairfield, Peter Edward Palmer of Troy, N.Y., Sis Palmer, William and Judy Palmer, and Dody and Jack Fleming, also of Fairfield, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Russell B. Palmer.
A private memorial service will take place at a later date. MaryEllen Ryan Kroll
MaryEllen Ryan Kroll, 62, of 10 Russeling Ridge Road, New Milford, died Monday, April 19, 1999, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C. She was the wife of Gunther Kroll.
Mrs. Kroll was born in Yonkers, N.Y., Feb. 29, 1936, a daughter of the late Edwin F. and Mary Clancy Ryan. She was a resident of Mamaroneck, N.Y, before moving to New Milford in 1974.
She had worked as a licensed practical nurse at the Candlewood Valley Care Center from 1975 to 1992.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Susan M. Kachur of Wilmington, N.C., and Peg Baxter of New Milford; two brothers, Judge John Ryan of Santa Ana, Calif., and Edwin Ryan of Mamaroneck, N.Y.; three sisters, Peg Kroll of Cedar Cove, N.J., Betty Ann McEvoy of New Rochelle, N.Y., and Catherine F. Speichier of Wappingers Falls, N.Y.; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services are Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St., New Milford.
Interment is in Center Cemetery, New Milford.
Friends will be received Friday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
