Janet L. Schmidt
Janet L. Schmidt, 44, of 9 Lindenwood Dr., Brookfield, died at her home on Tuesday, September 21, 1999. She was the wife of Stephen J. Schmidt.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. June 25, 1955, she was a daughter of Arthur and Rosalind (Kurland) Folb of Southbury. She was a graduate of Hofstra University, Hempstead, Long Island, N.Y.
Mrs. Schmidt was Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the American Medical Communications Co. of Houston, Texas, prior to her illness.
She was a member of St. Marguerite Church, Brookfield. She was on the Board of Directors of Orinda Institute of Brookfield and was the 1997 recipient of the American Cancer Society "Award for Courage."
Besides her husband and parents, she is survived by her son and daughter, Andrew and Rachel Schmidt of Brookfield and her son, Eric Schmidt of Hoboken, N.J.; and sister, Donna Hirsch of Dallas, Texas; as well as several nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
Funeral services will be held at St. Marguerite Church, Brookfield, on Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Center Cemetery in New Milford.
Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury on Thursday evening from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.

Rodrigo O. Eduardo
Rodrigo O. Eduardo, 20, of 5 Cross Street, Danbury, died on Sunday, September 19, 1999, in Stratford, as a result of a motor vehicle accident on the Merritt Parkway.
Rodrigo was born in Consulara Pena, M.G., Brazil, December 22, 1978, a son of Sonia (Oliviera) Eduardo of Consulara Pena, M.G., Brazil and the late Jackson Eduardo.
He was a student and was visiting in the United States at the time of his accident on Sunday.
He enjoyed equestrian sports.
He is survived by his family of Brazil.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Avenue, Danbury. Burial will follow in Wooster Cemetery.
Friends will be received in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home on Saturday after 9:30 a.m.
Henry C. Pospisil
Henry C. Pospisil, 82, died on Monday, September 20, 1999 at the Atlanta Medical Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
He was born in Astoria, N.Y., the son of the late Henry Pospisil and Marie Arnold-Pospisil. He resided in Norwalk and later in Ridgefield. He retired from Finance with Exxon Corporation. He and his wife, Joan, moved to Hilton Head Island in 1994.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; a brother, Robert Pospisil of Shelter Island, N.Y.; two sons, Charles and William; and two grandchildren, Rachel and Robyn of Connecticut. Also, three stepsons, Gary, Kim and Kenneth Bjelka; stepdaughter, Cindy Berry; and four grandchildren, Aimee, Lauren, Taylor and Aaron of Connecticut and Salt Lake City, Utah.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, past president of the Catholic War Veterans and member of the Navy League.
A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis By the Sea Catholic Church, Hilton Head Island, Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
A second memorial service will be held in Connecticut at a later date.
The family requests donations to "Make A Wish" and Hilton Head Middle School Booster Club, 55 Wilborn Road, Hilton Head Island, SC 29926 in lieu of flowers.
The Island Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Henry C. Pospisil
Henry C. Pospisil, of Hilton Head, S.C., formerly of Norwalk and Ridgefield, died Sept. 20, 1999.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Oct. 9, at 11 a.m., at St. Thomas of the Apostle Church, 203 East Ave., Norwalk. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, Richard's Ave., Norwalk.

William Benedict Kellogg
William B. Kellogg, 82, husband of Virginia (Pinkos) Kellogg, of 18 Appletree Rd., Bethel, died at the Bethel Health Care Center, Bethel, on Monday morning.
He was born in Danbury, September 14, 1917, son of the late John and Florence (Benedict) Kellogg. Mr. Kellogg had attended Danbury schools and had been a Bethel resident for approximately 50 years. He and Mrs. Kellogg had celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary this past June.
He had worked for the former Rider Dairy Co. in Danbury, later known as Brock-Hall Dairy and retired after working there for 30 years. He later managed the B.J. Dolan gas station in Bethel and retired in 1982 after having worked there for 15 years. Mr. Kellogg had been a member of the Bethel Volunteer Fire Department.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 4 daughters; Nancy Dolan of New Fairfield, Jean McGovern and her husband Jim of Franconia, N.H., Barbara Kennedy and her husband Paul of Bethel and Dawn and Kevin Krizan, with whom he and Mrs. Kellogg reside; 10 grandchildren; Andrea Fitzgerald and her husband Tom, Bill Dolan and his wife Tracey, Timothy Kennedy and his wife Bridget, Wendi Denise and her husband Mark, James McGovern, Theresa McGovern, Ashley Krizan, Kevin Krizan, Christopher Krizan and Michael Krizan; 4 great grandchildren, Caitlin Fitzgerald, Emily Fitzgerald, Kelly A. Dolan and Sean P. Kennedy; a sister, Jane Young of Tarpon Springs, Fla. and several nieces and nephews.

Gertrude Kurjiaka, age 89, died Tuesday, September 21, 1999 at the Indian River Nursing Home in Granville, N.Y. Born in Danbury, she was the daughter of Merino and Gertrude (Ziegler) Capellaro. Her husband, Walter J. Kurjiaka died in 1957.
Mrs. Kurjiaka was a Communicant of St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church in West Pawlet and a member of the St. Francis Cabrini Society. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons; Ron Kurjiaka of Poultney, Vermont and Ken Kurjiaka of Columbia, Pennsylvania; four daughters, Pat Perkins of Rupert, Vermont, Joan DeJulia of Brookfield, Margaret Waite of West Hebron, New York and Christine Book of Bethel; three brothers, John Capellaro of Florida, William Capellaro of Millerton, Vermont and Robert Capellaro of Jeffey, New Hampshire; twenty grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church with the Rev. Adam Krempa officiating. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Salem, New York. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church Street, Granville, New York. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Jeffery A.Smith Sr.
Jeffery A. Smith Sr., 65, of Midrocks Rd., Ridgefield, husband of Joan (McIntosh) Smith, died on Tuesday morning, September 21, 1999, at the Danbury Hospital.
Mr. Smith was born in Mineola, New York, July 21, 1934, a son of Emma (Cole) Smith of Norwich and the late Frank F. Smith.
He attended Mineola schools and graduated from the RCA Institute of New York.
Mr. Smith was a self-employed electronic consultant.
A resident of the area since 1961 coming from Cos Cob, he was a former Mason, Boy Scout Leader and Volunteer Fireman. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, Brookfield.
In addition to his wife of 43 years and his mother, he is survived by three sons; Jeffery A. Smith II of Thorndike, Mass, David M. Smith of Ridgefield and Rand R. Smith of San Angelo, Texas; three daughters, Deborah L. Gonnoud and Faith C. Cooney, both of Sherman and Hope A. Barbir of Alpharetta, Ga.; a sister, Phyllis Porter of Norwich; eight grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will take place Friday at 10 a.m. in the First Assembly of God Church, Brookfield, with Pastor Manzer L. Wright, officiating.
Burial will follow in Fairfield Memorial Park Cemetery, Stamford.

Thor S. Svege Sr., 32, of Driftway Rd., Danbury, died on September 16, 1999 at Brandywine Hospital in Coatesville, Pa. due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was the husband of the late Aileen M. (Dyer) Svege. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. November 14, 1966, he was a son of Njaal and Alice (Jermansen) Svege of Danbury. Mr. Svege was a graduate of the Danbury High School Class of 1984. He owned and operated Svege Construction Inc. of Danbury. He was a Firefighter and Vice President of the Mill Plain Volunteer Fire Department; as well as a member of the B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge #120, the Sons of Norway and St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Besides his parents, he is survived by a son; Thor S. (TJ) Svege Jr. of Danbury; a daughter, Briana Lee Svege of Danbury; a brother, Eric Svege of Danbury; a sister and her husband, Linda and Kenneth Nekvasil of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; maternal grandmother, Ragnhild Jermansen of Baskin Ridge, N.J. as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins in the United States and Norway. She was the wife of the late Thor S. Svege Sr. Born in Danbury March 27, 1965, she was a daughter of Thomas F. Dyer Jr. of Danbury and the late Sandra L. (Knox) Dyer. She was also the stepdaughter of the late Jerilyn (Pasquariello) Dyer. Mrs. Svege was a graduate of the Danbury High School Class of 1983. She graduated from Catherine Gibbs in 1985 and was attending Western Connecticut State University. She was employed by GE Capital in Danbury as an Administrative Assistant and was a Mentor for Literacy Volunteers at Mill Ridge School, Danbury. Mrs. Svege was a member of the Danbury Emblem Club #48 and held the Office of Trustee as well as past Offices. She was also a member of the Miry Brook Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary and was a past President. Besides her father, she is survived by a son; Thor S. Jerilyn (Pasquariello) Dyer, 54, of Danbury, died on September 16, 1999 at Brandywine Hospital in Coatesville, Pa. due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was the wife of Thomas F. Dyer Jr. Born in Danbury November 2, 1944, she was a daughter of Louise (De Rosa) Pasquariello and the late Pasquale Pasquariello. Mrs. Dyer was a graduate of Danbury High School and Danbury Beauty School. She owned and operated Jeri-Lyns Beauty Salon for over 25 years. Mrs. Dyer was an Officer and past President of the Danbury Emblem Club #48. She was also a member of the Miry Brook Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Besides her husband and mother; she is survived by a stepdaughter, Kimberly Pomeroy of Danbury; twin sister, Donna Pasquariello of Danbury; three grandchildren, TJ, Tori and Briana all of Danbury, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. Mary Ann Forzano, 78, of Danbury, died at Mediplex on Sunday, September 19, 1999. Mary is survived by three sons; Frank of Danbury, Michael of Holmes, N.Y. and Thomas of Kentucky; two brothers, Vincent Mucciolli of Mahopac, N.Y. and Nicholas Mucciolli of Hartsdale, N.Y.; six grandchildren; three great granddaughters and several nieces and nephews. Marion C. Lucchesi
The death of Marion C. Lucchesi, 62, of Bergh St., Danbury, wife of William Lucchesi Sr., occurred at her home Saturday evening. She was born in Bronx, N.Y., June 30, 1937, daughter of Edward and Elfreida Goertz Egan and was educated in Bronx schools. She moved to Danbury in 1957. Mrs. Lucchesi was a Caregiver and Shift Supervisor for the Putnam Association for Retarded Adults (P.A.R.C.) in Carmel, N.Y. for 7 years and prior as a Shift Supervisor at the Danbury Hospital Cafeteria for 5 years. Besides her husband, she is survived by a son; William J. Lucchesi of Danbury; an adopted son, Jeffrey Wildman also of Danbury; 2 daughters, Karen Lucchesi of Cleveland, Ohio and Donna Marie Lucchesi Carhuff of Port Charlotte, Fla.; 3 sisters, Irene Burns of Danbury, Dorothy Russell of Carmel, N.Y. and Rita Casey of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; 6 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Tuesday evening at 8:00 p.m. Cremation will follow. Charles W. O'Dowd
Charles W. O'Dowd, 76, of 25 Taber Rd., Sherman, loving and devoted husband of Evelyn Greico O'Dowd, died Saturday, September 18, 1999 at New Milford Hospital. Mr. O'Dowd was born in Staten Island, N.Y., November 5, 1922, son of the late Joseph and Maude (Leonard) O'Dowd. He was employed in the grocery department of the Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company on Staten Island for 36 years, retiring in 1978. He was a direct descendant of the Leonard family, one of the first families to live on Staten Island. He moved to Sherman in 1992 and was a Communicant of Holy Trinity Church. He was a loving and devoted father of Dennis C. O'Dowd and his wife Carol of Sherman; Frank W. O'Dowd and Charles P. O'Dowd, both of Staten Island, N.Y.; one brother, Raymond Dowd of Staten Island, N.Y.; and 5 grandchildren. Funeral services on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, Sherman with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment at the convenience of the family. William Meehan
William Meehan, 58, of New Fairfield, died Friday at Danbury Hospital. Mr. Meehan was the husband of Irena (Kijek) Meehan.
He was born in Stamford, Connecticut, December 4, 1940, a son of the late Earl and Edith (Bridge) Meehan.
Mr. Meehan moved from Stamford to New Fairfield 30 years ago. He served in the United States Army. He worked as an electrician for Bellmont Electric in Stamford, Connecticut.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Tracy Proffitt of New Fairfield; a brother, Jack Meehan of Florida, four sisters, Edith Dougdale of Stamford, Ellen Minch of Norwalk, and Ann Donnelly and Ethel Bologna, both of Stamford; two grandchildren, Christopher Lee and Crystal Stevens, both of New Fairfield; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Mountainview Cemetery, New Fairfield.
Raymond A. Gleditsch
Raymond A. Gleditsch, 64, of Greensburg, Pa., formerly of New Fairfield, died Wednesday, September 15, 1999, at home. He was born November 8, 1934, in McKeesport, Pa., and was a son of the late Ernest W. and Bertha Canose Gleditsch.
He was a member of the Maplewood Presbyterian Church and was a retired Flight Mechanic for Dupont/Conoco in Wilmington, Del. He was a 1954 graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics, an Army veteran and commercial licensed pilot. He was a former member of the Fairfield Jaycees.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Jean Bostak Gleditsch; two sons, Douglas P. Gleditsch of Sugar Land, Texas, and Gregory S. Gleditsch of Alexandria, Va.; a sister, Phyllis Bell of McKeesport, Pa.; two grandchildren and two nieces.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Maplewood Presbyterian Church in Boston, Pa., with the Rev. Steve La Sor officiating. Interment will be private.

Antoinette D. Hasbany
Antoinette D. Hasbany, 73 formerly of Ridgefield, died September 2nd in Fort Lauderdale, Florida after a brief illness.
She was a retired Registered Nurse known to the communities of Redding, Ridgefield and Norwalk for her school and public health nursing services.
Antoinette is survived by a daughter, Gloria Lane of Fort Lauderdale; 2 brothers, Salvatore DeLuca of Ridgefield, Frederick DeLuca of Ames, Iowa; a sister, Elizabeth Licarie of Redding and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation was held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Final arrangements are yet to be determined.

Florence (Vaccaro) Valenti
Florence (Vaccaro) Valenti, of Candlewood Park, Danbury, died Thursday at Yale New Haven Hospital at the age of 74. She was the wife of the late Frank Valenti.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. June 18, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Vincenzo and Sarafina (Lupo) Vaccaro.
Mrs. Valenti was educated in Brooklyn, N.Y. schools. She worked for Display products of Bronx, N.Y., prior to her retirement.
She moved to Danbury four years ago from Oceanside, N.Y.
She is survived by a daughter; Patricia Miniello of Bethel; two sons, Nicholas Valenti of Long Beach, N.Y. and James Valenti of Oceanside, N.Y.; and four grandchildren, John Leo Miniello, Corissa Miniello, Joseph Valenti and Nicholas Valenti.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Mary Church, Bethel, on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Burial services will be private.
