Mary Mugavero
Mary Mugavero, 90, a resident of Branchville since 1941, died Sunday, September 5, 1999 at Hancock Hall in Danbury after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Jerome Mugavero to whom she was married for 57 years prior to his death in 1988.
Mrs. Mugavero was born in Sicily, Italy on March 25, 1909, a daughter of the late Carmello and Giovanna Patrezzi Favuzza. She came to this country in 1916.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Georgetown.
Survivors include her two sons; Peter J. Mugavero of Brewster, N.Y., and Jerome Mugavero Jr., of Harwinton; seven grandchildren and five great-grandsons. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Mugavero was predeceased by her daughter, Agatha Pontello.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Georgetown. The Rev. M. Joseph Joaquin, Pastor, will officiate. The interment will follow in Branchville Cemetery, Ridgefield.

David L. Keck
David L. Keck, 40, of 61 Taylor Avenue, Bethel, husband of Carmela (Spremulli) Keck, died on Saturday afternoon at the Danbury Hospital.
He was born in Harlingen, Texas, October 5, 1958, a son of LeRoy and Dena (Phy) Keck of Gaithersburg, Md.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by two children, Michael Keck and Jessica Keck as well as a brother Andrew Keck.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Mary's Church, Bethel at a time to be announced.
Burial will take place in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
Friends will be received in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Avenue, Danbury on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Eugenia Kursch Strashart
Eugenia Kursch Strashart, 86, of Bridgeport died Saturday, September 4, 1999 in the Jewish Home For The Elderly in Fairfield.
Mrs. Strashart, wife of the late Carl Strashart, was Bridgeport resident most of her life and was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Bridgeport.
She is survived by two sons; Richard Strashart of Trumbull and Raymond Strashart of Trumbull; two daughters, Diana Dudeck of Newtown and Evelyn Schultze of Gainsville, Fla.; a sister, Bertha Burton of Fairfield and thirteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Larson Funeral Home, 2496 North Ave., Bridgeport. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Tuesday, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Robert G. Hall
Robert G. Hall, age 74, of Fort Pierce, FL, and formerly of Danbury, died Monday in Fort Pierce. He was the husband of Ernestine Dean Hall.
Mr. Hall was born in Danbury, July 31, 1925, a son of the late Arthur E. and Hazel E. Hulbert Hall, and was a graduate of Danbury High School. He was a Navy veteran of WWII, serving on the LST 541 and during the invasion of Omaha Beach.
He worked for many years at the former Ryder Dairy and at Marcus Dairy in Danbury. In 1988, Mr. Hall retired as a rural route carrier with the United States Post Office, where he had worked on a route in Redding for 16 years. Mr. Hall was a member of the V.F.W., the American Legion, and the LST Association. He was also a member of the Progressive Lodge and was a member and Past Noble Grand of Samaritan Lodge I.O.O.F., Danbury.
Mr. Hall was a resident of Danbury for most of his life before moving to Fort Pierce five year ago.
Besides his wife, with whom he would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on Sept. 10, he is survived by a son, Jonathan D. Hall of Fort Pierce; a daughter and her husband, Amy E. and Richard T. Frederick, Sr. of Danbury; two sisters, Glenna Tagliavento of Danbury and Barbara Vizvarie of Shelburne, VT; and three grandchildren, Richard T. Frederick, Jr., Robert N. Frederick and Amanda M. Frederick, all of Danbury.
There are no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, West Street, Danbury. The Hull Funeral Service, 60 Division St., Danbury, is handling local arrangements.

Ethel Wilcox
Ethel Wilcox, 74, widow of Everett Wilcox and a resident of 175 Berkshire Road, Sandy Hook, Newtown, died Saturday at Danbury Hospital following a brief illness.
A native Danburian, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Lottie Monroe Gardner, and had been a member of the Advent Christian church and the Women's Home and Foreign Missions Society, and the T.W.B.'s at the Church. She had been employed at the soda and luncheonette counter at the former Woolworth's store on Main Street, Danbury, and later worked at American Family Crafts, and at Bradlee's on Route 6.
Mrs. Wilcox was a graduate of the Danbury Public Schools and was a 1943 graduate of Danbury High School. She was a member of Chapter 1847 of the A.A.R.P.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ethel "Tunnie" and Joseph Pudelko of Danbury; her sister, Ruth Betz of Bethel; and her companion of the last 15 years, Al Trocola, with whom she made her home; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at The Tomlinson Homestead, 336 Main St., Danbury. A funeral service will take place Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Dennis Bloom, Jr.
Dennis W. Bloom, Jr., 14, of Bethel, died Friday, Sept. 3, from injuries he sustained in a train accident while crossing railroad tracks in Bethel that evening. He was a resident of 7 Main St.
Dennis was born in Sidney, N.Y., on July 11, 1985, a son of Linda Cornell of Bethel and Dennis W. Bloom of Sandy Hook.
He was a freshman at Bethel High School and a member of the Teen Center in Bethel.
Besides his parents, Dennis is survived by a sister, Amanda Bloom of Bethel; a half-brother, William F. Bloom of Sandy Hook; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Bloom of Danbury; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Cornell of Bethel; his godparents, Robert and Sandra Murrah of New Milford; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends will be received Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury. Funeral services will take place Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, Bethel, with the Rev. Sheldon Smith officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Bethel.

Christopher M. Manno
Christopher M. Manno, 13, of 47 Remington Road, Ridgefield, son of Lawrence J. and Elizabeth (Tighe) Manno, died on Thursday evening at New York Hospital, September 2, 1999.
Chris was born in Tarrytown, New York, April 21, 1986, and had resided in Tarrytown until 1991 when moving with his family to Ridgefield.
He was a student at the East Ridge Middle School entering the 8th grade. As a student, he served as a member of the student council.
Active in sports, he excelled in baseball, basketball, swimming and golf. He was a member of various teams as well as travel teams. Chris was cited by the Pop Warner League for excellence in academics as well as athletics.
He was a member of St. Mary's Church of Ridgefield.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Lauren M. Manno of Ridgefield; his paternal grandmother, Josephine Manno of Thornwood, N.Y.; his maternal grandparents, Henry and Edith Tighe of Hawthorne, N.Y., as well as an aunt, uncle, cousins and numerous friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Ridgefield.
Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y.

Debra A. Capparelli
Debra A. (Wanetski) Capparelli, died Sept. 3, 1999 in the New Milford Nursing Home at the age of 45.
Mrs. Capparelli was born in Danbury, Oct. 18, 1953, a daughter of the late Albert M. and Joan M. (Crawford) Wanetski.
She graduated from Danbury High School, Class of 1971, and was a homemaker until her illness.
Mrs. Capparelli is survived by her daughter, April Capparelli of New Milford; her sister, Nancy Knapp of New Milford; and her special friends and care-givers, Bonnie Cole, Jason and Tonya, all of Danbury.
Friends may call at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury, on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. There are no formal funeral services. Cremation will take place at the convenience of the family.

Edna O. Ekstrom
Edna O. Ekstrom, 98, of Carmel Avenue in Brewster, N.Y., died Thursday, Sept. 2, 1999, in Purdys, N.Y. She was the wife of the late Carl O. Ekstrom, who died in 1979.
Born in Towners, N.Y., Nov. 4, 1900, she was a daughter of the late Patrick and Cora Cowl O'Hara. She was educated in Brewster schools.
A lifelong Brewster resident, she was a homemaker most of her adult life. She was married on Sept. 27, 1922 in Brewster.
Surviving are five daughters, Gloria Ekstrom, Patricia Doyle, Carol Macomber, all of Brewster, N.Y., Jeanne Saunders of Danbury and Eloise Reinhardt of Carmel, N.Y.; two sisters, Anna Gurnsey of Somers, N.Y., and Ethel Stumph of Florida; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by a daughter, Joyce Ekstrom, on Oct. 27, 1997.
Friends may call Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Terrace, Brewster, N.Y. Services will take place Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Raymond Lightcap officiating. Burial will take place at Raymond Hill Cemetery.

Henry A. Fiscella
Henry A. Fiscella, age 89, husband of the late Mary (Giordano) Fiscella of 27 The Boulevard, Newtown died Thursday, September 2, 1999 in the Danbury Hospital. Mr. Fiscella was born in New York City Nov. 23, 1909 a son of the late Joseph and Geraldine (Zamello) Fiscella. He was a longtime resident of Garden City, N.Y. and lived in Newtown the past 2 years. Mr. Fiscella was a graduate of St. John's University and St. John's University School of Law. For over fifty years he was an attorney in the legal department of the Travelers Insurance Company. Mr. Fiscella is survived by 2 sons; Robert A. Fiscella of Newtown and Henry A. Fiscella Jr. of Fairfield; 4 grandchildren, Tara, John, Andrew, and Darcy Fiscella of Newtown and one niece. Mary E. Benedict
Mary Elizabeth Benedict, age 90, of Sanford Town Rd., Redding Center, died on Thursday at Wilton Meadows, Wilton. Ms. Benedict was born in New Rochelle, N.Y., Dec. 29, 1908, a daughter of the late Aaron F. and Angeline Smith Benedict. She was a resident of Fairfield and Southport before making her home in Redding in 1962. She worked for J. Harold Sanford Farming and then as a housekeeper and nurse before her retirement. Mary was an active member of Heritage House Senior Center in Redding, was a Lieutenant in the Greenfield Hill Girl Scouts and was an active community leader. Ms. Benedict is survived by her sister; Vera S. Liepertz of Canaan and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Heritage House, Cross Highway, Redding, CT 06875. A Memorial Service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, Redding, Saturday, October 2, 1999, at a time to be announced. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Soeum But, 86, of 7 Saxon Rd., Bethel died September 2, 1999 at his home. He was the husband of Ren (Kem) But. He was born in Cambodia, August 12, 1912. Besides his wife, Mr. But is survived by 3 daughters; Sokha Khean, Sokhom Khuen and her husband Viseth and Sokhoen But all of Bethel; and one son Phon C. But of Cambodia. Cremation will follow in the Mountain Grove Crematory in Bridgeport. Mary Anna Koziar Mary Anna Koziar died Sept. 2, 1999 at The Lutheran Home in Southbury at the age of 89. She was the wife of the late Louis P. Koziar and lived at 11 Mill Plain Rd. in Danbury. Mrs. Koziar was born in Danbury June 10, 1910, daughter of the late Thomas and Jeanette Cardallo LaPine. She received her education in Danbury Schools and was a homemaker devoting her life to her family and home. She is survived by her devoted son, Lewis T. Koziar and his wife Candace of Newtown; her loving daughter, Phyllis E. Bieber and her husband Terry of Danbury; and her loving daughter Joan A. Durkin and her husband Ronald of Hamden; her beloved grandchildren, Scott and Tara Durkin, Megan Koziar and Kevin Bieber and Jennifer Frisch and several nieces and nephews. She was born to Alexander and Anna (Kutskel) Lucasavitch on July 29, 1906, and educated in DuBois, Pa. Mrs. Merrer came to Manchester, Conn. in 1924 and subsequently lived in Meriden and Middletown before making her home in Danbury since 1989. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Anne was pre-deceased in 1958 by her beloved husband, Albert, and by sisters Josephine, Mary, Margaret, Katherine, and Evelyn. She is survived by her sons; Robert and his wife Christine of Danbury and Glenn and his wife Lynda of Palm Harbor, Fla.; grandchildren, Dina, Anne, Donald, Thomas, Monica (White) and John; great-grandchildren Angela, Nicholas and Andrew; sister, Mildred Lutkevich; sister-in-law, Margaret Merrer; and nephews Philip Freemer and Eugene Suslam and several other nieces and nephews. Timothy J. Reardon Jr.
Timothy J. Reardon, Jr., age 78, husband of Madeleine (Bourassa) Reardon of 2032 N.E. 52nd St. Pompano Beach, Fla., died Wednesday in Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital, Colebrook, N.H. Mr. Reardon was born in Hopewell Junction, N.Y., Feb. 5, 1921, son of the late Timothy and Fannie Treadwell Reardon. He was a resident of Newtown most of his life until his retirement. He was a graduate of Newtown High School. During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy as a Mineman first class, serving as a deep sea diver and underwater demolition technician. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star medal. Following his discharge he returned to Newtown and started a home building business. He retired in 1985 and spent his winters in Pompano Beach, Fla., and his summers in Bloomfield, Vt. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 162, Deerfield, Fla., and the North Stratford, N.H., VFW. He was a former member of the Newtown Lions Club and Knights of Columbus. He was a communicate of St. Rose Church. He is survived, besides his wife of 14 years, by stepson Roland Cass, Jr., of Bethel; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Cheryl Smith of Kissimmee, Fla., Mrs. Regina Adelaars of Fountain Valley, Calif., Lorraine Brezofski, also of Fountain Valley, Calif., and Madeleine Cass of State Line, N.Y.; one brother, Daniel Reardon Sr. of New York; and two sisters, Shirley Jeranka of New York and Elsie Dinkler of Pennsylvania;, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Rita (Kilfoile) Reardon. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Rose Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Hilma (Johnson) Hope
Hilma (Johnson) Hope, 75, of 4601 Mercado Court, Elkton, Fla., formerly of Danbury, died August 30, 1999 at the Ponce de Leon Care Center, St. Augustine, Fla. She was the wife of George E. Hope Sr. of Elkton. Born in Danbury, May 21, 1924, she was a daughter of the late David and Marjorie (Nichol) Johnson. Mrs. Hope lived in Danbury before moving to Florida 16 years ago. Mrs. Hope was a graduate of Danbury High School. She was a member of St. Peter's Church in Danbury Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons; Mark Holmes of Cooper City, Fla., David Holmes of Lake City, Fla. and Peter Holmes of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; a daughter, Janis Ruxton of Cos Cob, Conn.; a sister, Marion Vallante of St. Augustine, Fla.; 9 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Roy S. Swanson
Roy S. Swanson, 60, of 22 Ramapoo Hill Rd., Ridgefield died Tuesday surrounded by his family at his home in Ridgefield. He was the husband of Lynne (Rigano) Swanson.
Mr. Swanson was born in Mamaroneck, N.Y. on Dec. 25, 1938, a son of the late Elsa and Olaf Swanson. He lived in New York until he moved his family to Ridgefield where he enjoyed 22 years with his wife and 2 children.
Mr. Swanson and his wife, Lynne, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on August 19th. He served with the US Air Force Reserves and was a graduate of Pace University, where he received his BBA.
Mr. Swanson was an employee of Kraft-General Foods for over 20 years, retiring in 1990. He later began his own business, Path Associated of Ridgefield, where his clients will miss him.
Mr. Swanson was the current Senior Warden of the Masons Lodge of Ridgefield, where he joined in May of 1995. He was to become the Master of the Lodge for the year 2000. He was also an active member and Treasurer of the Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church in Ridgefield.
In addition to his passions he was an avid golfer and softball player.
In addition to his wife, survivors include one son; Neil O. of New Fairfield; one daughter; Adria Patrick of Danbury; one brother; Erling O. Swanson of Roseburg, Ore. Three grandchildren also survive.
He was very much loved by his family and friends.
Funeral Services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. at the Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church, Ridgefield with the Rev. Randy Day, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Kane Funeral Home, 41 Catoonah St., Ridgefield.
