Muriel V. Burge
The death of Muriel V. Burge, 82, of 360 Federal Road, Brookfield, occurred at the Danbury Hospital Monday morning.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., July 15, 1917, daughter of the late William and Barbara Schanninger Burge, she attended Brooklyn Elementary and High Schools. She moved later to Elmhurst, Queens, N.Y. before moving to Brookfield 2 years ago, but had maintained a summer home in New Milford for 30 years.
Miss Burge was employed as an Interior Designer for the W.&J. Sloane Co., Fifth Ave., New York City for over 20 years and had been a self-employed Antique Dealer for several years retiring 15 years ago.
She is survived by two cousins, Dorothy Smith and Paul Burge, both of Texas and a friend, Linda J. Schramm of Brookfield.
Funeral services will be private.
The Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield is in charge of arrangements.

Angelo L. Bartolotta
Angelo L. Bartolotta, age 66 of Bethel, son of the late Leonard and Rose Bartolotta, died at Danbury Hospital on Monday.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 45 years, Connie A. Caruso Bartolotta of Bethel; three daughters, Karen Rude and her husband, Richard of Redding, Lauren Contorno and her husband, Frank of Bethel and Janet Bartolotta and Nick Bartlett of Lawrence, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Samantha and Frank Contorno, Victoria, Richard and Constance Rude, Kijah and Jahmai Bartlett.
Memorials may be made to the Dorothy Day Hospitality House, 11 Spring St., or to Catholic Charities, 30 Main St., both in Danbury at 06810.
The funeral will be conducted from the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Ave., Bethel, Friday afternoon at 12:30 with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Mary's Church, Bethel at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bethel.
The family will receive friends at the Bethel Funeral Home, Friday morning from 10:00 until leaving for the Mass at 12:30.
Raymond William Johnson
Raymond William Johnson, age 74, of Scofield Hill Rd., Washington Depot, died at New Milford Hospital on Sunday. He is the husband of Edith Chapin Johnson.
Mr. Johnson was born in Danbury, a son of the late Carl E. and Jenny Peterson Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a longtime resident of Washington and a 1943 graduate of Washington High School. Mr. Johnson was employed as a machine operator for Kimberly Clark Corporation for 20 years before retiring 11 years ago. He was a member of the Rising Sun Masonic Lodge #27 in Washington Depot for over 40 years. Mr. Johnson was also a member of the Gage Zumf American Legion Post, Washington and the Washington Volunteer Fire Department. He attended the Salem Evangelical Church, Washington Depot.
In addition to his wife of 45 years, Mr. Johnson is survived by two daughters, Amy Brady and her husband Richard, Newtown and Muriel Golembeski and her husband Robert, New Milford; a brother, Randolph S. Johnson, Washington Depot; three grandchildren, David R. Golembeski, William Patrick and Rebekah Lynn Brady and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Johnson is predeceased by two brothers, Malcolm P. Johnson (killed in Italy during World War II) and Carl Albin Johnson.
Funeral services will be held in the Salem Evangelical Church, Washington Depot, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, New Milford. Family will receive friends in the Colonial Funeral Home, 87 Park Lane Road, New Milford Tuesday afternoon from 2 until 4 p.m. and in the evening from 7 until 9 p.m. A Masonic service will be held in the evening.

Viola S. Vilardi
Viola S. Vilardi, 89, formerly of Simeon Rd., Bethel, wife of the late Gabriel M. Vilardi, died at the Filosa Convalescent Home on Sunday evening.
She was born in New York City, May 31, 1910, daughter of the late Vittorio and Alessandra (Mignanelli) Signore. Mrs. Vilardi moved to Bethel with her family in 1954 and resided on Plumtrees Road for many years. Prior to moving to this area, she had worked at Columbia Universities Teacher's College in New York City and after moving here, she worked as an executive secretary for Dr. Ruth Haas at the now Western Connecticut State University. She retired as an executive secretary in the Bethel Public School system in 1973.
Mrs. Vilardi is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra V. and Joseph Leheny of Danbury and Vivienne V. and Alan Smith of Sarasota, Fla.; a sister, Josephine Acampora of Light House Point, Fla.; three grandchildren, Vivienne Leheny, Cara Leheny and David Leheny and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Church, Bethel on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury. Michael D."Mickey"Skirkanich
Mr. Michael D. "Mickey" Skirkanich, age 87, widower of Hazel (Steinert) Skirkanich of 10 Albion St., Waterbury, died Monday at the Wolcott View Manor Nursing Home in Wolcott.
Mr. Skirkanich was born on July 24, 1912 in Waterbury, son of the late Dimitri and Mary (Hie) Skirkanich. He was educated in local schools and was a retired truck driver for Nelson Freightways. He was a veteran of the US Army and proudly served his country in World War II. He was a member of the American Legion, the American Association of Retired Persons and was an avid bingo player.
Mr. Skirkanich leaves two sons, Michael F. and Robert, both of Waterbury; two daughters, Mrs. Carol Lockwood of Sandy Hook and Marsha Millette of Waterbury; a brother, Nicholas Skirkanich of Plymouth and a sister, Mary Baribault of Glendale, Calif. He also leaves 10 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, George Skirkanich.
Funeral Services for Mr. Skirkanich will be held on Wednesday at 8:15 a.m. from the Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home, 1581 East Main St., Waterbury to Saints Peter and Paul Church, 67 Southmayd Rd., Waterbury for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Donald N. Jessmer Sr.
Donald N. Jessmer Sr., age 63, of Bridgeport, died November 20, 1999 in Bridgeport Hospital. Mr. Jessmer was born in Mt. Kisco, N.Y. and was a former resident of Danbury. He was currently employed at J.V. Precision in Stratford. He was a retired employee for Perkin-Elmer and a member of its retirement club. Mr. Jessmer was also a member of the Heartbeats of Bridgeport Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Hesbach Jessmer of Bridgeport; two sons, Donald N. Jessmer Jr. of Miami, Florida and Mark E. and his wife, Iris McGeehan of Fairfield; three daughters, Cheryl and her husband, Raymond McDermott of Danbury, Mary Jessmer and her husband, James Gallagi of West Haven and Laura and her husband, Michael Miska of Shelton; one brother, Archie Jessmer of Carson City, Nev.; one sister, Blanche Adams of Madrid, N.Y.; six grandchildren, John James McDermott, Rason McDermott, Donald Drahan, Deanna McDermott, Sierra Gallagi and Christopher Miska; his father-in-law, William J. Hesbach Sr. of Bridgeport; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Cyril F. Mullins Trumbull Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Rd., Trumbull with the Reverend Hal Vink officiating. Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
Adeline McKeon Cubberly
Adeline McKeon Cubberly, 105, of Danbury, died at the Pope John Paul Health Care Center on Monday, November 22, 1999.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church Tuesday morning at 9 a.m.
Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Philadelphia, Pa.

Henry Hawley Warner
Henry Hawley Warner, age 84, retired owner and proprietor of the "Brick Store" in Sandy Hook, died November 21, 1999 at his home. He was the husband of Margaret (Camp) Warner and lived at 5 Pole Bridge Road, Sandy Hook.
He was born in Sandy Hook December 7, 1914, son of the late Hobart G. and Mary (Hawley) Warner. He was a lifelong resident of Sandy Hook. A graduate of Wooster School in Danbury, he attended Bentley School of Accounting and Finance.
During World War II he served in the 87th Mountain Infantry, 10 Mountain Div., US Army, serving in the Aleutian Islands as a corporal.
Mr. Warner was a Charter Member of the Sandy Hook Fire Department. At one time he served as treasurer of the Sandy Hook Athletic Club. He was a former driver for both FISH of Newtown and Meals on Wheels. He was a former Treasurer and Sexton of Zoar Cemetery in Sandy Hook. He was a member of the Newtown Horticulture Club.
A longtime member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Newtown, he had served as Warden and Treasurer.
He is survived, besides his wife, by one son, Austin Camp Warner and his wife, Lorry of Danbury; two daughters, Anne Hawley Warner and her partner, Stuart Cohen of Dixmont, Maine and Susan Mitchell Warner of Nantucket, Mass. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Kristen Lorraine Warner and Scott Austin Warner.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 27, 1999 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, Newtown, with the Rev. Kathleen Adams-Shepherd, officiating. Burial will take place Saturday, November 27, 1999 at 1:30 p.m. at Zoar Cemetery, Sandy Hook. There are no calling hours. Margaret T. Staib
Margaret "Midge" Tyler Staib, age 76, of Maple Ave., Bethel, died at her home on Saturday. She was the widow of Edward W. Staib Sr.
Mrs. Staib was born in Bethel June 12, 1923, a daughter of the late Eugene Carlton and Luvenia Fox Tyler. She was a lifelong Bethel resident and had been a Telephone Operator for 30 years with SNET. She was a member of St. Mary's Church, Bethel and loved to cook. During the summer, she was a weekend resident of Southbury at the Pomperaug River and was a winter resident of Daytona Beach, Fla. She was also a member of the Pomperaug Social Club.
She is survived by her son, Edward W. Staib Jr. and his wife, Judy of Bethel; several grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

George J. Gazdzicki
George J. Gazdzicki, age 64, of Brewster, N.Y., died Saturday, November 20, 1999 at his home.
Mr. Gazdzicki was born May 9, 1935 in Port Chester, N.Y. He had graduated from schools in Port Chester, N.Y.
Mr. Gazdzicki married Maja A. Oberholtzer on August 1, 1970 in White Plains, N.Y. Mrs. Gazdzicki died September 18, 1976.
Mr. Gazdzicki was a chauffeur for People's Bank in White Plains, N.Y. for 10 years, retiring in 1994. He had been a data machine operator at Reader's Digest in Pleasantville, N.Y. for 20 years prior. Mr. Gazdzicki was an usher and sacristan for St. Lawrence O'Toole Church in Brewster, N.Y. as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1495 in Brewster, N.Y. Mr. Gazdzicki was a resident of Brewster since 1972 and of Port Chester for many years before that.

Edwin C. Bates
Edwin C. Bates, 93, formerly of Main Street, Bridgewater, husband of the late Julia (Ognan) Bates, died Saturday at New Milford Hospital.
Mr. Bates was born in Bridgewater February 3, 1906, a son of the late Calvin G. and Elizabeth (Metz) Bates. He had been employed by the former Hansen and Sons Builders in New Milford for over 45 years before his retirement. He was an avid fisherman and had a great love for the outdoors and was a longtime gardener.
He is survived by a son, Edwin (Nick) Bates and his wife, Barbara of New Milford and one granddaughter, Jennifer Bates.
Funeral Services on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Bridgewater. Interment in Center Cemetery, Bridgewater.

Doris Buchan Sternberg
Doris Buchan Sternberg, a resident of Fairfield County for seventy five years, died Friday, November 19, 1999 in St. Vincent's Medical Center.
A daughter of James Buchan and Beulah Gates, she was born in Ottawa, Canada on June 8, 1908. The family moved to Stamford where Doris graduated from the Glen Eden School. She later matriculated at Katherine Gibbs in New York City. She was a medical secretary in Presbyterian Hospital in New York City in the 1920's.
She married Huot W. Sternberg of Meriden in 1931 and resided in Westport where she was active musically in the Connecticut Chorale, the South Shore Music Club and the choir at Christ and Holy Trinity Church. She was a longtime active member of the Westport Women's Club, the Republican Party and served on the Westport Town Planning Commission.
In 1948, the family moved to Fairfield where she was an active member of Brooklawn Country Club, Associated Charities of Bridgeport, the House and Garden Club of Greater Bridgeport, the Contemporary Club and a board member of the Burroughs Home for the Elderly, the Visiting Nurses Association and Friends of Bridgeport Symphony. For the past ten years she has been a resident of Thirty Thirty Park, Bridgeport.
She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia S. Schein of State College, Pa. and Joan S. Keddy of Ridgefield; a sister, Nancy Conrad Grimaldi of Danbury; three grandsons; two granddaughters; three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Her husband preceded her in death.
She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Old Post Rd., Fairfield, where a Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, November 27, 1999 at 10 a.m. with the Reverend Ben Brockman, Rector, officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Music Fund at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 661 Old Post Rd., Fairfield, CT 06430 for the enhancement of special music programming. Maurice M. "Bud" Tatro Jr.
Maurice M. "Bud" Tatro Jr., age 67, of Forest Avenue, formerly of Seymour, passed away November 20, 1999 at the Danbury Hospital after a long illness. He was the widower of Pauline Dellamano Tatro.
Mr. Tatro was born September 11, 1932 in New Haven, son of the late Maurice M. "Bud", Sr. and Mildred Finkle Tatro. He was retired after 25 years as Master Sergeant from the US Air Force and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a graduate from Mount St. Charles Academy in Rhode Island.
He leaves two sons, Maurice M. Tatro III in Texas and Mark Tatro in Illinois; two daughters, Suzanne Tatro in Illinois and Fayening Tatro in Germany, also several grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour to the Church of the Good Shepherd, Seymour where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will be in Grove Cemetery, Naugatuck.
