ELLENDALE - Larry Hinton of Ellendale, died of heart failure Thursday, April 30, 1998, in Bayhealth Hospital, Milford. He was 52.
Mr. Hinton was born in 1946 in Elizabeth, N.C.
He was a laborer at Allen Foods.
He is survived by his wife, Clementine Hinton of Ellendale; two sons, Gary Hinton of New York and Terrell Johnson of Ellendale; two daughters, April Tull of Georgetown and Shawna Johnson of Lincoln; his mother, Margaret Hinton of Milford; four brothers, William Hinton of Ellendale, Wilbert Hinton of North Carolina, Roger Hinton of Florida and Tony Hinton of Greenwood, three sisters, Doris Albury of Boston, Portia Brown of Maryland and Barbara Snowden of Ellendale; seven grandchildren; a mother and father-in-law, Rebecca and William J. Savage; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Pentecostal Church on Greentop Road in Lincoln, where friends may call one hour prior to service.
Burial will be in Siloam Cemetery, Slaughter Neck.

Harry T. Burton, Jr., 75
LAUREL - Harry T. Burton Jr. of Laurel, and formerly of Adelphi, Md., died of complications of a stroke Sunday, May 3, 1998, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. He was 75.
Mr. Burton was born in Washington, D.C., the son of the late Harry T. Burton and Gertrude Whittaker.
He was a World War II Veteran of the United States Navy, he retired from the United States Navy Hospital, Bethesda, Md., as a electrician, working for 20 years.
Mr. Burton was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 4961, Seaford, and a member of the American Legion Post 19, Laurel.
He is survived by his wife, Madelin Burton of Laurel; a stepson, Alpert J. Hobbs and his wife, Ada, of Laurel; a sister, Elise Leonard of Leisure World, Md.; four step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren; a nephew and two nieces.
Service will be 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Maryland Veterans Cemetery Burlock, Md., where the Rev. Danzel Cheek will officiate. Friends may call 10-11a.m. Thursday at Short Funeral Home, 700 West St., Laurel.
Burial will be in Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Hurlock, Md.
Betty Jane McGinnis, 73
LEWES - Betty Jane McGinnis of Lewes died Sunday, May 3, 1998 in Norfolk, Va. She was 73.
Mrs. McGinnis was born in 1925 in Lewes.
She was a member of Midway Assembly of God.
She is preceded in death by her father, John Freeman, and her husband, William A. McGinnis Jr. in 1956.
She is survived by her mother, Catherine Wilson Freman of Jeffersonville, Ind.; four sons, Bruce Freeman of Melfa, Va., Jeffery McGinnis of Norfolk, Va., and John McGinnis and William Perry McGinnis, both of Newark; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Midway Assembly of God Church, Del. 1 at Midway, Lewes, where friends may call one hour prior to service. Pastor Gary Ross will officiate.
Burial will be in Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton.

Robert James 'Stump' Willoughby Sr., 60
MILLSBORO - Robert James 'Stump' Willoughby Sr. of Millsboro died of cancer Sunday, May 3, 1998 in his home. He was 60.
Mr. Willoughby worked at Sun Ship/Pennsylvania Ship Building and DryDock for 26 years.
He and his wife had resided in Sussex County for 15 years, where he coached Millsboro Little League for five years.
Mr. Willoughby was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, who loved fishing, gardening and making wood crafts. He will always be known as a very giving man, being a good neighbor and finding something positive out of a negative.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Myrna Elizabeth Willoughby; his mother, Ella M. Jones of Swarthmore, Pa.; a sister, Carol Coons of Swarthmore; a brother, Charles Willoughby of Colwyn, Pa.; three daughters, Cherl A. Sweeney of Glenolden, Pa., Lori L. Hopkins of Milton, and Wendy J. McVicker of Milsboro; a son, Robert J. Willoughby Jr. of Washington, D.C.; seven grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Sandra Jean 'Sandi' Hall Johnson, 42
MILFORD - Sandra Jean 'Sandi' Hall Johnson of Milford died of heart failure Sunday, May 3, 1998, in her home. She was 42.
Mrs. Johnson was a 1973 graduate of Milford High School.
She worked as a cosmetologist for several years. She also volunteered at the Milford Memorial Hospital Gift Shop.
Mrs. Johnson was an area Chair for the C.B.G.S.C.; area 11 Girl Scouts and held several other positions including training counselor for leaders, cookie chairperson and Kite Day activities. She was awarded the Green Angel and an Outstanding Volunteer Award. She was a member of Slaughter Neck United Methodist Church, where she was director of Bible school and Sunday school teacher.
She enjoyed crafts, sewing, needlepoint, Christmas shopping, making clothes and spending time with her grandson.
She was preceded in death by her stepfather, John Dorman and grandparents, Irving and Esther Hall and Clarence J. and Florence Plummer.
She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Alvin Johnson, two daughters, Melissa Ann and her husband, Wade S. Murphy, both of Milford, and Jodie Beth Johnson at home; a sister, Debra Harrison of Seaford; two brothers, Irving 'Garry' Hall, and David Wayne Hall, both of Lincoln; a grandson, Takoda DeAngelo Murphy; her parents, Elizabeth Ann Dorman of Georgetown and Irving J. Hall of Lincoln; her stepmother, Roseann Hall of Lincoln; several nieces and nephews whom she cared for very much, Brooke, Lauren, David, Carrett, Scott, Brett, Atticus, E.J., Sara, David, Marty, Debbie, Paynter Jr. and Dawn.
Service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 N.W. Front St., Milford, where friends may call two hours prior to the service.
Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Lincoln.

William T. Salmons Jr., 73
BEAR - William T. Salmons Jr. of Bear died Saturday, May 2, 1998, in Christiana Hospital. He was 73.
Mr. Salmons was born in 1924 in Philadelphia, the son of the late William T. and Marie Salmons.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served three years in the Army National Guard of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Salmons was a truck driver for Leaman Transportation Co. in Glenolden, Pa., for several years before retiring.
He is survived by a son, William T. Salmons III of New York; two daughters, Nancy Lee Salmons of North View, N.Y. and Rebecca Ann Hauser of Newark; one sister, Elaine McMullin of Pennsylvania.
Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Chapel of the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.
Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

Mary Jeanette Smith, 74
GREENWOOD - Mary Jeanette Smith of Greenwood died Tuesday, May 5, 1998, in her home. She was 74.
Mrs. Smith was born in 1923, in Cambridge, Md., the daughter of the late Owen and Florence Peters Bradley.
She attended Cambridge High and graduated in 1940.
Mrs. Smith served her country during World War II, as a corporal in the Marine Corps. Upon discharge from the service, she did secretarial work for 29 years for the federal government.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Hastings Smith in 1981.
She is survived by two daughters, Gretta Smith of Georgetown and Maria A. Payne and her husband, John Payne, both of Greenwood; one granddaughter, Susan C. Scott and one great-granddaughter, Lauren Scott, both of Greenwood.
Service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Frampton-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home, P.A., in Federalsburg, Md., where friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday.
Burial will be in the Eastern Shore Veteran's Cemetery in Hurlock, Md.

SEAFORD - Violet A. Moore of Seaford, formerly of Dover, died Tuesday, April 28, 1998. She was 81.
She was the daughter of the late Floyd and Alta Drain Wheller.
Mrs. Moore was a homemaker.
She attended the Church of the Nazarene in Dover.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Augustus Robert Moore in 1986.
She is survived by her daughters, Mryna and her husband, AJ Hicks of Palmyra, Tenn., Gwendolyn Phelph of Battle Creek, Mich., Irma R. Moore of Mishawaka, Ind., and Debra A. Turner of Dagsboro; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Roger E. McClements II, 42
ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. - Roger E. McClements, II of Altamonte Springs, and formerly of Magnolia, Del., died from injuries as the result of an automobile accident Friday, April 17, 1998, in Florida. He was 42.
Mr. McClements graduated from Caesar Rodney High School. He also attended Delaware Technical and Community College before moving to Florida in 1977.
He is survived by his parents, Frances and Fred Kemp of Magnolia; three brothers, Randy McClements and David Kemp, both of Felton, Del., and Michael Kemp of Magnolia; two sisters, Joy Rawls and Amy McClements, both of Decatur, Ga.; his grandmother, Catherine Kemp of Frederica, Del.; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Monday, April 20, 1998, in Florida.
