DOVER - John Charles Werden of Dover died Thursday, May 7, 1998, in Silver Lake Nursing Home, Dover. He was 84.
Mr. Werden served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He had 21 years of service and retired as a Master Sergeant, serving with the 88th Division. Starting in Italy as a quartermaster, he helped over 30 children in an orphanage with food and clothing.
He worked for civil service at the Philadelphia Naval Yard and Dover Air Force Base.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Anna M. Werden of Dover; two sons, John C. Werden Jr. of Clearwater, Fla., and James Werden of Charleston; a grandson, Christopher Werden of Charleston.
Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at The Trader Funeral Home Inc., 12 Lotus St., Dover, where friends may call one hour prior to service.
Burial will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
Mary Alice Massey Arbeene, 38
FRANKFORD - Mary Alice Massey Arbeene died of injuries resulting from an auto accident Tuesday, May 5, 1998, in Christiana Medical Center, Newark. She was 38.
Mrs. Arbeene was born in Baltimore, the daughter of John C. and Alice Massey.
She worked as a lab technician for Intervet Inc. of Millsboro.
She was past Honor Queen for the Order of Jobs Daughters, Bethel Chapter #20, of Frankford, and treasurer of Boy Scout Troop 281 of Ocean View, and a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Selbyville.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Paul L. Arbeene, two sons, Jon P. Arbeene and Christopher Arbeene, both at home.
Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Frankford. The Rev. Dale Vroman will officiate.
Friends may call from 6-7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Mariner's Bethel Cemetery, Ocean View.
Clinton 'Sonny' B. Morris Jr., 63
BRIDGEVILLE - Clinton 'Sonny' B. Morris Jr. of Bridgeville and formerly of Denton, Md., died of heart failure, Thursday, May 7, 1998, in his home. He was 63.
Mr. Morris was born in Greensboro, Md., the son of the late Clinton Bates Morris Sr. and Virginia Morris.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Mr. Morris was a painter at the Department of Building and Grounds for the state of Maryland, Annapolis. He retired in 1997.
He was preceded in death by a grandchild.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Ann Morris of Bridgeville; a son, Wayne Morris of Denton; a daughter, Tammy Todd of Felton; a brother, Irving F. Morris of Easton, Md.; four grandchildren.
Service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second St., Denton.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Denton Cemetery, Denton.

Madeline Camper Short, 87
SEAFORD - Madeline Camper Short of Seaford and formerly of Rehoboth Beach died Tuesday, May 5, 1998, in Methodist Manor House. She was 87.
Mrs. Short was born in 1910, the daughter of the late Walter Saxton Camper and Annie Camper.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Short was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, 20 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth Beach.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Francis Rice Short, 1990.
She is survived by four nieces, Margaret C. Thornblad, Rosalie Powers, both of Vero Beach, Fla., Patsy Garrison of Oklahoma City, and Jane Thelen of Magnolia, N.J.
Burial will be in Epworth Methodist Cemetery, Rehoboth Beach. The Rev. David Baker will officiate.

WYOMING - Lori Lyn Taylor of Wyoming died Wednesday, May 6, 1998.
Mrs. Taylor was born in 1966 in Seaford.
She graduated from Caesar Rodney High School, Camden, in 1984. After high school she attended the University of Delaware where she received a bachelor's degree in environmental science, graduating in 1994.
Mrs. Taylor was self-employed, and owned A-Z Marketing Designs Inc., Wyoming.
She is survived by her husband of three months, Wyoming Councilman Gary Taylor; her father, Joseph Vrudny of Dover; her mother, Kaye C. Henrichson of Lewes; her stepfather, Joe Delorenzo of Lewes; a stepbrother, Joey Delorenzo of Ocean City, Md.; a brother, Ty Vrudry, of Eugene, Ore.; a paternal grandmother, Phyllis Vrudny, of Dover; maternal grandparents, Clayton and Mary Catherine Collins, of Berlin, Md.
Service will be 7:30 p.m. today at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may call 6-9 p.m.
Burial will be private.

Josephine Elizabeth Waters, 101
MILLSBORO - Josephine Elizabeth Waters of Millsboro died of respiratory failure Wednesday, May 6, 1998, in Millsboro Nursing Home. She was 101.
Mrs. Waters was born in St. Martins, Md., the daughter of the late William and Hester Miller Mumford.
She was a member of the Millsboro Apostolic Faith of Jesus Christ Church, Millsboro.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Edgar Waters, in 1960, a son, William E. Waters and a daughter, Beulah Waters.
She is survived by two sons, Morris Henry Waters and Charles Clayton Waters, both of Bishopville, Md.; seven daughters, Viola W. Moore and Josephine A. Jackson, both of Millsboro, Edna E. Woolford and Leetta V. Boykin, both of Frankford, Lille M. Taylor of Bishopville, Pauline M. Lewis of Georgetown and Joycelyn M. Bailey of Newark; 29 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, 32 great-great-grandchildren, three great-great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Curtis United Methodist Church, Bishopville, where friends may call two hours prior to the service. The Rev. Robert Starkey will officiate and the Rev. Joyce Whittington will assist.
Burial will be in the Church cemetery.

Marjorie M. Clendening, 98
MILLINGTON - Marjorie M. Clendening of Millington died Wednesday, May 6, 1998 in Magnolia Hall Nursing Home, Chestertown. She was 98.
Ms. Clendening was born in Barclay, the daughter of the late George B. and Julia J. Johnson Clendening.
She worked on the family farm in Barclay before moving to Millington, where she did domestic work for many families. Ms. Clendening enjoyed canning, cooking and baking for others.
She attended the Evangelical Christian Church, Millington, and was a member of Holden's Chapel, Marydel.
She is survived by several cousins and many dear friends.
Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home P.A., 370 W. Cypress St., Millington, where friends may call one hour prior to service.
Burial will be in Sudlersville Cemetery, Sudlersville.
Joan Elizabeth Nagy, 65
MILTON - Joan Elizabeth Nagy of Milton died Wednesday, May 6, 1998, in an auto accident. She was 65.
Ms. Nagy worked prior to Omni Bank as the Town Clerk of Milton, and prior to that she was a clerk for the Board of Public Works, Lewes, for several years. She also owned and operated The Hollies Bed and Breakfast, Milton, for four years.
She was an active member of the Milton Chamber of Commerce where she also had written many articles for the Chamber Clipper Newspaper.
She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Nagy.
She is survived by her mother, Isabelle A. Nagy of Lewes; two daughters, Cindy Lemanec of Orefield, Pa., and Amy L. Kratz of Minneapolis; two sons, Michael L. Kratz of Pen Argyl, Pa., and Jan Donald Kratz of Lewes; and two sisters, Michelle N. Vessels of Lewes, and Arden Nagy of Nassau.
Service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Lewes Presbyterian Church, Kings Highway, Lewes.

Diana L. Tucker, 49
LEWES - Diana L. Tucker of Harbor Health Care Center, Lewes, formerly of Camden, died of respiratory failure Wednesday, April 22, 1998, in Beebe Medical Center. She was 49.
Mrs. Tucker was born in 1948, in Seattle, Wash., the daughter of George and Norma Lobdell.
In addition to her father, she is survived by a son, Joshua J. Tucker of Hartly; a daughter, Tami I. Tucker of Marydel; a brother, Marty Lobdell of Seattle; a sister, Kathy Blaha of Seattle; and six grandchildren.
Service and burial will be private, at the convenience of the family.

Edward M. Butz, 79
LANCASTER, Pa. - Edward M. Butz of Lancaster died Thursday, April 23, 1998, in Lancaster General Hospital, following a brief illness. He was 79.
Mr. Butz was born in Lancaster, the son of the late Edward F. and Amelia M. Gegg Butz.
He served with the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II.
Mr. Butz was employed by RCA Corp. for 32 years as a carpenter.
He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, and a member of Elks Lodge 134, the American Legion, the AARP and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Butz was an avid fisherman and enjoyed gardening.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Mae Yunginger.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Miriam F. May Butz; three sons, Wayne of Willow Street, James C., husband of Marcia Butz, of Lititz, and Gary L. of Conestoga; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, John of Landisville.
