GEORGETOWN - Pauline T. Johnson of Georgetown died of a stroke Friday April 3, 1998, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. She was 77.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Bishop, Md., the daughter of the late Josiah E. and Frances Bunting Timmons.
She was a self-employed beautician for about 20 years, and then was an inspector for the State Board of Health retiring in 1981 after 20 years of service.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Springfield Crossroads, near Georgetown. She attended activities at the Georgetown CHEER Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Granville R. Johnson in 1990.
She is survived by three sons, G.R. Johnson, John J. Hearn and Donald W. Hearn, all of Georgetown; two brothers, George L. Timmons of Millsboro, an Josiah E. Timmons Jr. of Bishopville; one sister, Ruth Hazzard of Ocean City, Md.; nine grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Service will be at noon Tuesday at Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
The Rev. Debra Lindsay will officiate.
Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Springfield Crossroads, Georgetown.

Mildred B. Adams, 86
MILFORD - Mildred B. Adams of Genesis Elder Care Center, Milford, since 1984, and formerly of Argos Corner, died in the center Saturday, April 4, 1998. She was 86.
Mrs. Adams was a production operator at the L.D. Caulk Co., Milford for 22 years, retiring in 1973.
She was a member of Slaughter Neck Methodist Church, and a member of the Milford Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Mrs. Adams enjoyed gardening and yard work before becoming ill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger E. Adams Sr. in 1968.
She is survived by one son, R. Emerson Adams Jr. of Milford; four grandchildren and their spouses; Deborah G. and Robert S. Tappan, Gregory W. Adams, Brian K. and K. Gwenn Adams, all of Milford and Kevin C. and Dawn I. Adams of Chesapeake, Va.; six great-grandchildren, Kristen, Keith, and Brynn Adams of Milford, Corey Tappan of Milford and Quinn and Casey Adams of Chesapeake, Va.
Service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Ave., Milford, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milford.

Ernest A. Smith, 60
LEWES - Ernest A. Smith of Lewes died Sunday, April 5, 1998, in his home. He was 60.
Mr. Smith was born in 1937, in Salisbury, Md.
He worked as a meter technician for the city of Rehoboth Beach for 24 years.
Mr. Smith was a volunteer with the Rehoboth Aid Society.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Doris Smith of Lewis; a daughter, Ernestine Everett of Pocomoke, Md.; a brother, Larry Smith of Milford; a sister, Faye Vaughn of Milford; four half-brothers; one half-sister, and seven stepchildren; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday graveside in Midway Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Rehoboth Beach, where the Rev. John Dean will officiate.

Ollie Daniel Davis, 36
DOVER - Ollie Daniel Davis of Dover died Sunday, April 5, 1998, of injuries suffered in an automobile accident. He was 36.
Mr. Davis was born in 1962, son of William B. and Mary Jane Davis, both of Dover.
He attended Smryna schools.
Mr. Davis served in the U.S. Army.
He was employed by Anthony's Tree Service in Chestertown, Md., as a tree climber and trimmer.
Mr. Davis was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing.
Besides his parents, he is survived by three brothers, Samuel Davis of Dover, Carey Davis of Manassas, Va., and William Davis Jr. of Nassau; and one sister, Rose Mary George of Dover.
A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Torbert Funeral Chapel, Bradford and Reed streets, Dover.

Catherine M. Blades, 75
MILFORD - Catherine M. Blades of Milford, formerly of New Castle, died Saturday, April 4, 1998, in Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, Md. She was 75.
Mrs. Blades was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Milford Senior Center and the Harrington Senior Center.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James A. Simpler in 1991; a son, James R. Simpler in 1976.
She is survived by her husband of five years, Ralph F. Blades Sr.; one son, Charles L. Simpler of Elkton, Md.; two brothers, Robert W. Donovan of Houston and John W. Donovan of Frederica; two sisters, Evelyn Cade of Greenwood and Helen Southard of Houston; a stepdaughter, Sharon Lee Stovinski of Frederica; a stepson, Ralph F. Blades Jr. of Florida; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home 119-121 N.W. Front St., Milford.

Margaret 'Maggie' L. MeGee, 73
GEORGETOWN - Margaret 'Maggie' L. MeGee of Georgetown, died of congestive heart failure Saturday, Feb. 21, 1998, in Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 73.
Mrs. MeGee was born in Oakland, Calif., and moved to Clarksville in 1956, and later to Georgetown.
She worked briefly at Nanticoke Homes from 1986-1990, but most of her life, she stayed home and took care of her children. She was a good mother.
Mrs. McGee, in her leisure time, watched television and especially liked to watch western shows and soaps.
She was preceded in death by her former husband of 26 years, Allen M. McGee, in 1994.
She is survived by five sons, Bobby Joe and Luis of California, Ronald MeGee of Maine, Steve MeGee of Bridgeville and Gary MeGee, with whom she lived, of Georgetown; one daughter, Sherrie Yoder of Andrewville; one brother, Joe Hensley of California; one sister, Mary Gilman of California; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Fleischauer Funeral Home, West Market Street, Greenwood, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be private.
Dorothy Chester White, 67
DOVER - Dorothy Chester White of Dover died of respiratory failure Sunday, Feb. 22, 1998, in her home. She was 67.
Mrs. White was born in Philadelphia, daughter of the late William J. and Martha Scott McKay.
She was employed with the Federal Defense Contract Audit Agency, Media, Pa., retiring in 1992.
Mrs. White was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Dover; Walter L. Fox Post 2 American Legion Auxiliary, Dover; VFW Post 7679, Mantua, N.J.; and the Modern Maturity Center, Dover.
She is survived by her husband, William W. White of Dover; a son, Andrew J. Chester of Mount Ephraim, N.J.; three daughters, Christine D. Heaton of Deltona, Fla., Marilyn J. Hines of Frederica and Dorothy J. Winkeler of Media; and 10 grandchildren.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

William B. Hering Jr., 77
MILFORD - William B. Hering Jr. of Milford died of heart failure Monday, Feb. 23, 1998, in Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 77.
Mr. Hering was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a retired farmer and had also been a carpenter with John L. Briggs and Co., Milford area, for many years.
Mr. Hering enjoyed dogs and guns.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Callie McBroom Hering; a son, Mike Hering of Milford; and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, NW Front Street, Milford.

Phyllis J. Canavan, 65
DOVER - Phyllis J. Canavan of Dover died Monday, Feb. 23, 1998, in Crozer-Chester Medical Center, Upland, Pa. She was 65.
Ms. Canavan was born in Clearfield, Pa., daughter of the late Monroe and Martha Katherine Donley Montague.
She was a homemaker and also worked at various jobs throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert M. Montague, Walter W. Montague and Russell L. Montague; and a sister, Mary Katherine Hemphill.
She is survived by a daughter, Heather L. Davis of Clayton; two granddaughters, Sarah E. Davis and Andrea M. Davis, both of Clayton; a grandson, John W. 'Jack' Davis III of Clayton; a niece; and two nephews.

Donald Dean Riggs, 60
SMYRNA - Donald Dean Riggs of Smyrna, formerly of Folcroft, Pa., died, apparently of a heart attack, Monday, Feb. 23, 1998, while at work. He was 60.
Mr. Riggs was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was employed with General Motors, Boxwood Road, for 13 years and with General Electric, Philadelphia, for over 20 years.
Mr. Riggs was a member of the UAW Local No. 435; of the St. James Episcopal Church, southwest Philadelphia; and of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Smyrna.
He enjoyed boating, camping and antique car shows.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Frances E. Riggs; a son, Norman Glenn Riggs of Boothwyn, Pa.; a daughter, Debbie A. Shiber of Smyrna; his mother, Christine Skiles of Lawrence, Kan.; four brothers, Jerry of Colorado, Terry of Washington, Tom of Iowa and Bill of Idaho; and seven granddaughters.
Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Daniels and Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown.
