CECILTON, Md. - Kelsey Lynn Annand died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, in Christiana Hospital, Newark, Del. She was four days old.
Kelsey was born Dec. 9, 1998, in Union Hospital, Elkton, the daughter of Sonya D. Roland of Cecilton.
She was preceded in death by an uncle, Robert Roland Jr., in August 1998.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her maternal grandparents, Jeff and Kathy Palmer of Cecilton and Robert Roland Sr. and Kim Roland of Earleville; and great-grandparents Robert Annand Sr. and Muriel Annand of Tennessee, Dorcus Roland of Earleville and Marion Anderson of Newark, Del.
Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Earleville.
Gertrude Smith Benton, 54
CLAYTON - Gertrude Smith Benton of Clayton died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, in her home. She was 54.
Mrs. Benton was born Nov. 19, 1944, in Dover, the daughter of Lester and Nora Smith, late of Clayton.
She graduated from the former John Bassett Moore High School, Smyrna, in 1962; from Delaware Technical and Community College with an associate in applied science degree in executive secretarial technology in 1974; and from Wilmington College with a degree in applied profession in business in 1986.
Mrs. Benton had worked for the former Buchanan Firestone in Dover in 1962 and 1963; for the Capital School District and its predecessor, the Dover Special School District, as a secretary, retiring from there after 30 years; and, most recently, for F.H. Everett and Associates, Dover, as a secretary.
She was a member of the National Association of Educational Office Professionals, the Delaware Association of Educational Office Professionals and the Kent Association of Educational Office Professionals; and an active member of the Downs Chapel United Methodist Church and its Ladies Aid, the Clayton Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, the Smyrna High School Alumni Association and the Dover Retired Secretaries. She also did volunteer work for Delaware Hospice, and had been a past member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
Mrs. Benton's hobbies included gardening, quilting, cooking, gift baskets and crafts.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, C. Marion Benton, in 1995.
She is survived by her close friend and companion, Robert Conner of Clayton; a daughter, Christine Barnhart; three aunts, Louise Wooleyhan and Sadie Smith, both of Sudlersville, Md., and Martha Stump Crelling of Dover; three granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; and many cousins and friends.
Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St., Dover, where friends may call two hours prior to the service.
Burial will be in Sudlersville Cemetery, Sudlersville.

Sara Catherine Campbell, 77
STEVENSVILLE, Md. - Sara Catherine Campbell of Stevensville died Friday, Dec. 11, 1998, in her home. She was 77.
Mrs. Campbell was born Dec. 25, 1920, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of the late Frederick C. and Alice Abel Parker.
She attended school in Baltimore.
Mrs. Campbell married Carl B. Campbell of Baltimore Dec. 31, 1939.
She worked for Westinghouse as a microfilm operator in Baltimore.
In 1963, Mr. and Mrs. Campbell moved to the Eastern Shore of Maryland, and they later established and operated The Four Seasons Restaurant and The Skipjack Restaurant, both in Stevensville.
Mrs. Campbell was a member of the Kent Island Yacht Club; a charter member and a past senior regent of the Women of the Moose Chapter 1696; and member of the Ladies of the Elks Lodge 2576, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 278 and St. Christopher's Catholic Church, Chester.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jan. 25, 1997; and a brother, Frederick C. Parker Jr., in June 1998.
She is survived by two daughters, Sharon A. Soong of San Francisco and Carol L. Thomas of Stevensville; two sisters, Alice Rothage of Kissimmee, Fla., and Mary Gordon of Pasadena; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Christopher's Catholic Church, Chester.

Lela B. Colatriano, 77
LONG NECK - Lela B. Colatriano of Pot Nets, Long Neck, and formerly of Wilmington, died Monday, Dec. 14, 1998, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. She was 77.
Mrs. Colatriano was born in Oak Park, Ill., the daughter of the late Clarence W. and Isabelle Brennan Bailey.
She had been a cashier for A&P Supermarkets in Wilmington for 20 years, retiring in 1973.
Mrs. Colatriano was a member of Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church, near Millsboro.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Vincent Colatriano, in 1993.
She is survived by two sons, Paul V. Colatriano of Basking Ridge, N.J., and William A. Colatriano of Wilmington; a daughter, Ellen M. Pringle of Newark; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

EASTON, Md. - Geneva Mae Ferri of Easton died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, in Caroline Nursing Home, Denton. She was 84.
Mrs. Ferri was born May 23, 1914, in Salem, Ind., the daughter of the late Leslie and Loula Mae Lockhart Brough.
She was a homemaker.
She attended St. Benedict Catholic Church, Ridgely, and St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Denton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tillie Ferri, in 1975; and a grandson, Peter Ruskin, in 1992.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Ruskin of Easton; two sisters, Lillian Patton of Branford, Fla., and Virginia Clark of Monticello, Ind.; a grandson, Daniel Ruskin, and his wife, Kathleen, both of Denton; a granddaughter, Lesley Furton, and her husband, Ted, both of Boston; a granddaughter-in-law, Kelly Ruskin of Denton; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mary Virginia George, 71
NEWARK - Mary Virginia George of Newark died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, in Wilmington Hospital of Christiana Care, Wilmington. She was 71.
Mrs. George had been a foster parent with the state Department of Services for Children, Youth and Their Families for 10 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. George III, in 1989.
She is survived by two daughters, Laurette Painter of North East, Md., and Ginny Sparklin of Wilmington; three sons, Robert H. George IV of Elkton, Md., Steve George of Homasassa, Fla., and Jonathan George of Kissimmee, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Emily Elizabeth 'Em' Greene, 66
EASTON, Md. - Emily Elizabeth 'Em' Greene of Easton died Friday, Dec. 11, 1998, in the Genesis ElderCare - The Pines, Easton. She was 66.
Ms. Greene was born March 13, 1932, in Trappe, the daughter of the late William and Dora Greene.
She attended the public schools of Talbot County, graduating from Robert Russa Moton High School in 1952.
Ms. Greene was employed by Memorial Hospital at Easton for 26 years, retiring early due to illness.
She was a member of Scott's United Methodist Church, Trappe, where she served on the Usher Board and in the Flower Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her only son, Jewett Nichols; and two brothers, Ezekial Greene and Howard Greene.
She is survived by a daughter, Phyllis D. Dickerson of Easton; two grandchildren, Alonzo G. Dickerson III and Schedannia V. Dickerson, both of Easton; a great-grandson, DaeShawn R. Shouman of Pondtown; a devoted companion, Sharon Holland of Easton; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Retta H. Lane, 81
MILFORD - Retta H. Lane of Milford died Saturday, Dec. 12, 1998, in Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore. She was 81.
Ms. Lane graduated from the Milford Hospital School of Nursing, where she was an instructor for a few years.
She was a registered nurse at the Milford Memorial Hospital. She also worked for Dr. Villasis for several years.
She was an avid gardener.
Ms. Lane had been a member of the Avenue United Methodist Church and the Milford Garden Club.
She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Lank of Santa Rosa, Calif.; two sons, Gerald W. Lank of Milford and David K. Lane of Bear; four sisters, Pauline Daniels and Gladys Case, both of Milford, Anna Mae Calvert of Harrington and Arlene Hendricks of Seaford; a brother, Franklin Hendricks of Harrington; and two grandchildren.
Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 N.W. Front Street in Milford, where friends may call one hour prior to service.

John Francis Lynch Sr., 88
SEAFORD - John Francis Lynch Sr. of Seaford died of heart failure Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. He was 88.
Mr. Lynch was born and raised in the Forty Acres section of Wilmington.
He played semipro baseball for the Hagley ball team, Wilmington, a former farm club of the Giants.
Mr. Lynch retired in 1975 from the DuPont Co., Seaford, after 35 years as a power operator in the powerhouse.
He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus St. Molua Council. He was an umpire for high school and Little League baseball for many years, and was an avid horseracing fan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Haley Lunch, in 1985.
he is survived by two sons, John Francis Lynch Jr. of Newark and Joseph M. Lynch of Seaford; five daughters, Mary Phillips of Tacoma, Wash., Julia Anne Jefferson of Bridgeville, Cornelia Zangrilli of Douglassville, Pa., Roberta Long of Seaford and Bernadette Marvel of Dagsboro; 22 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Catherine R. Matthews, 86
GREENWOOD - Catherine R. Matthews of Greenwood, and formerly of Dover, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, in the Country Rest Home, Greenwood. She was 86.
Mrs. Matthews was born in Cordova, Md., the daughter of the late John T. and Rosaline McCormick.
She had been a homemaker and a loving wife and mother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin T. Matthews, in 1994.
She is survived by a son, Ronald E. Matthews of Dover; a daughter and son-in-law, Rose Ann Hall and Irving J. Hall, both of Lincoln; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
