EASTON, Md. - Howard 'Blinky' Scott Jr. of Easton died of natural causes Sunday, Dec. 29, 1998, in his home. He was 62.
Mr. Scott was born June 12, 1936, in Denton, the son of Bessie Virginia Riley Scott of Easton and the late Howard Scott Sr.
He was self-employed as a painter.
He is survived by five sons, Michael Scott of Chestertown, Richard Scott and Greg Scott, both of Salisbury, Steve Scott of Guam and Timothy Scott of Centreville; a daughter, Lisa Scott of Centreville; two brothers, Albert Scott and Eugene 'Scotty' Scott, both of Easton; and several grandchildren.
Service will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Fleegle & Helfenbein Funeral Home P.A., 106 W. Sunset Ave., Greensboro, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Greensboro Cemetery, Greensboro.
Robert Stanley Thomas, 61
CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Robert Stanley Thomas of Chestertown, known to many as 'Mickey' or 'Moon Doggie,' died Thursday, Dec. 17, 1998, in Kent and Queen Anne's Hospital, Chestertown. He was 61.
Mr. Thomas was born Feb. 1, 1937, in Rock Hall, the son of the late Alfred and Gladys Thomas.
He attended Sharptown Elementary School in Rock Hall and, as a child, attended Aaron Chapel Church, also in Rock Hall.
Mr. Thomas was employed in the seafood industry and worked faithfully until his health failed.
He married Peggy Ann Thomas; they had two daughters.
Later in life, Mr. Thomas met Gloria Johnson, who became a dear, devoted friend.
He joined Robinson's AME Church under the pastorship of the Rev. Norman E. Blackston, and was very faithful.
He is survived by three daughters, Latisha Thomas and Latasha Thomas, both of Ocean Pines, and Denise Thomas of Elkton; a brother, Alfred Thomas of Rock Hall; four sisters, Carrie Thomas and Betty Green, both of Corsica Neck, Centreville, Christine Thomas of Wilmington, Del., and Theresa Thomas of Cambridge; three grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends; and his very special and devoted friend, Gloria M. Johnson of Church Hill, and her son, Gary.
Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Robinson's AME Church, Grasonville, where friends may call two hours prior to the service.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Charlotte Bottomley Brown, 68
WILMINGTON - Charlotte Bottomley Brown of Wilmington died Sunday, Dec. 20, 1998 in her home. She was 68.
Mrs. Brown was born in Centreville, Md., the daughter of the late Thomas and Myrtle McFarland Bottomley.
She graduated from Centreville High School class of 1949.
She married James Walter Brown of Henderson on April 12, 1952. They lived in Centreville and Church Hill, Md., moved to Wilmington in 1960.
Mrs. Brown was a housekeeper for Irenee DuPont, Jr. of Wilmington for over 32 years.
She is survived by a daughter, T. Dawn and a son-in-law, Donald Welsh of Wilmington; a brother, Donald T. Bottomley of Chestertown; two sisters, Margaret Skinner of Sudlersville and Carlos Dulgoborski of Rock Hall.
Graveside funeral service will be 2 p.m. today in Church Hill Cemetery.

WILLIAMSTOWN, NJ - Albert H. Brinkman, Sr. of Williamstown, formerly of Dover, died of natural causes Sunday, Dec. 20, 1998, in Kennedy Hospital, Turnersville. He was 79.
Mr. Brinkman was born Aug. 28, 1919 in Philadelphia.
He was employed as a Heat Treater by the Drever Co., Bethayers, Pa. for 30 years until his retirement in 1985.
He is survived by his son, Albert H. Brinkman, Jr of Williamstown and two grandchildren, Meghan and Adam Brinkman, both of Williamstown.
Services will be private at the family's convenience.

Felicia Marie Carter, newborn
DOVER - Felicia Marie Carter of Dover died shortly after birth Wednesday, Dec. 16, 1998 in Bay Health Medical Center, Dover.
She was the daughter of Eric D. Carter and Trisha Marie Marlow of Dover.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Joyce Mokoski of Wyoming.

Adelaide Dean, 81
CHESTER, Pa. - Adelaide Dean of Chester died Dec. 17, 1998, in Queenstown, Md. She was 81.
Ms. Dean was employed by the M. J. Freed family for 30 years.
She was a member of Mount Hebron A.M.E. Church, Linwood.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, James E. Johnson and James Albert Griffin.
She is survived by her mother, Pearl Griffin; two brothers, Leon Williams and Kennard Griffin, all of Queenstown; a devoted niece, Mabel Harris of Chester; and a stepdaughter, Ranae Douglass of Chester.
Service will be 1 p.m., Saturday at the John Wesley Cemetery, Carmichael, Md., where friends may call the church prior to service.
Burial will be in John Wesley Cemetery, Carmichael.

Helen Daisey Dukes, 99
OCEAN VIEW - Helen Daisey Dukes of Ocean View died of heart failure Sunday, Dec. 20, 1998, in Lewes Convalescent Center. She was 99.
Mrs. Dukes was born Oct. 8, 1899 in Pittsburgh, Pa.
She was a retired school teacher.
She was a member of Mariners Bethel United Methodist Church and the church's sewing circle, the Lord Baltimore Women's Club, the Indian River senior center and a sponsor of the Girl's Sorority.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Joshua R. Dukes, in 1986.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas R. Dukes of Springfield, Pa., and Robert R. Dukes of Crossville, Tenn.; a daughter, Shirley Plank of Lansdowne; nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Mariners Bethel United Methodist Church, Ocean View.
Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

Kendall W. Johnson, 56
MILLSBORO - Kendall W. Johnson of Millsboro died Saturday, Dec. 19, 1998, in his home. He was 56.
Mr. Johnson was born July 12, 1942 in Millsboro, the son of the late Harley K. and Marcella M. Johnson.
He was a carpenter and handyman.
He is survived by three brothers, Elson Johnson and Crawford Johnson, both of Millsboro, and Harlin Johnson of Georgetown; three sisters, Barbara H. Johnson, Rochella Nock, Vivian Johnson, all of Millsboro; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, in the Harmony Cemetery, near Millsboro. The Rev. Dolores Wilks will officiate.

Edward P. Lavelle, 95
CORONA DEL MAR, Calif. - Edward P. Lavelle of Corona del Mar, formerly of Scranton, Pa., for 65 years and Wilmington, Del., for 25 years, died Sunday, Dec. 20, 1998. He was 95.
Mr. Lavelle was born Aug. 7, 1903 in Scranton, the son of the late Edward and Bridget Lavelle.
He was a graduate of Holy Rosary High School, East Stroudsburg State Teacher's College and Saint Thomas College.
He was principal of Frances Willard Elementary School for 40 years as well as principal of the Adult Institute in Scranton.
Mr. Lavelle was a member in the Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nora Moran Lavelle, in 1967.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Baeurle of Wilmington; two sons, James Lavelle of Dewey Beach and Edward Lavelle of Corona del Mar; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Service will be Monday at the Vanston Funeral Home, 142 South Main St., Scranton, PA 18504. Mass at the Immaculate Conception Chapel.
Burial in Cathedral Cemetery.
Josephine H. Poore, 97
SMYRNA - Josephine H. Poore of Smyrna, formerly of Mathews, Va., died at Silver Lake Center, Monday, Dec. 21, 1998. She was 97.
Mrs. Poore was born Dec. 21, 1901, the daughter of the late John L. Hunley and Esther L. Hudgins Hunley.
She married Archie D. Poore, on July 19, 1931.
She attended the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg,Va.
She taught at several schools, including schools in Millsboro and Clayton.
She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Diggs, Va., and had attended Asbury United Methodist Church, Smyrna.
Mrs. Poore enjoyed gardening, flowers and playing the piano.
In addition to her husband of 39 years, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Esther Ann Pappas in 1986.
She is survived by a son, John D. Poore of Smyrna; and two granddaughters, Tamara L. Poore of Smyrna, Del., and Georgeanne Pappas Koehler of Smyrna, Tenn.
Service will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday at the Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call one and one-half hours before services.
Burial will be in Templeville Cemetery, Templeville, Md.
