GRASONVILLE, Md. - Marie E. Medina Roman of Grasonville, died (30 Nov 1998) in her home in The Mink Hill Assisted Living. She was 87.
Mrs. Roman was born May 10, 1911, in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Juan and Juana Vera Medina.
She attended school in Puerto Rico.
Mrs. Roman met Manuel Roman of Isabela, Puerto Rico, and married him in 1934. They resided in Isabela, where Mrs. Roman was a homemaker.
Following her husband's death in 1972, she moved to Grasonville to live with her daughter and family.
Mrs. Roman was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Grasonville.
She is survived by a son, Manuel Roman of Grasonville; two daughters, Carmen L. Horney of Grasonville and Eva H. Delgado of Nebraska; five brothers, John Medina of Puerto Rico, Marin Medina of Puerto Rico, Herminio Medina of New York, Guadalupe Medina of New Jersey and Julio Medina of Puerto Rico; three sisters, Blanca Christhis of New Jersey, Ines Rios of New Jersey and Maria C. Medina of Puerto Rico; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Service will be in Puerto Rico. A memorial service will be held locally at a later date.

Abigayle E. Truitt, 52
REHOBOTH BEACH - Abigayle E. Truitt of Rehoboth Beach, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. She was 52.
Ms. Truitt was born April 14, 1946, in Wilmington, the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret Truitt.
She had taught school for three years with the Cape Henlopen and Indian River school districts. She then had worked for the Justice of the Peace Courts for 19 years, in both Court 2 and Court 3.
Ms. Truitt was chairperson for the last two years for the Basic Legal Education Program for Justice of the Peace Courts.
She volunteered with the American Cancer Society for many years.
She is survived by cousins.
Memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Claudia H. Wicks, 82
MIDDLETOWN - Cluadia H. Wicks of Middletown died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998, in her home. She was 82.
Mrs. Wicks moved to Delaware in 1962 from Long Island, N.Y.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Wicks was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Newark. She worked as a volunteer providing for the homeless and also was involved with the Middletown Pony Club.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Fred Wicks; two sons, David G. Wicks of Middletown and Fred G. Wicks of North Port, L.I.; two daughters, Claudia J. Copper of Hatfield, Mass., and Joan R. Wicks of Frederick, Md.; five grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and nine step-great-grandchildren.
Service will be 3 p.m. Friday at the Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Old St. Anne's Cemetery, Middletown.

Christopher A. Zaferis, 69
MILFORD - Christopher A. Zaferis of Milford died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998 in Bayhealth/ Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 69.
Mr. Zaferis attended Radio Electronics Institute in Philadelphia, Florida Southern College and Centenary College.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1967 as a technical sergeant. While in the service, he attended Barksdale Air Force Base's 2nd Air Force Noncommissioned Officer Academy. He graduated second out of 400 airmen.
He worked with his father in Clifton Heights, Pa. After retiring, he was employed by the federal Civil Service at the Dover Air Force Base in logistics.
He was executive secretary of Local 1709, American Federation of Government Employees; commander of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 6 in Milford; a member of American Legion Walter Fox Post 2 in Dover; and member of Christ Episcopal Church in Milford.
He is survived by his wife, Norma M.; four sons, Steven D. Zaferis of Tulsa, Okla., Mark C. Zaferis of Chandler, Ariz., Diamond Ace Zaferis of Singapore and Joseph L. Zaferis of San Diego, Calif.; a daughter, Sandra M. Wassalik of Tulsa; a brother, Milton A. Zaferis of Tampa, Fla.; two sisters, Athens E. Zaferis and Eunice M. Oppeltz, both of Clifton Heights, Pa.; 18 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Christ Episcopal Church, North Church Street, Milford.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave., Milford.
Burial will be in the cemetery adjoining the church.

Joseph Palmer Moore, 86
DOVER - Joseph Palmer Moore of Dover died of progressive supranuclear palsy Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998, in his home. He was 86.
Mr. Moore farmed the land he grew up on.
He was a 50-year member of the Holstein Friesian Association of America; a member of the Delaware Farm Bureau; a member of the board of directors of the Southern States cooperative; and a member of the Delaware Holstein Improvement Association.
Mr. Moore also was a member of People's United Church of Christ, Dover.
He will always be remembered for his sense of humor and his love of people.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter P. and Mary Ennis Moore; and a brother, Presley E. Moore.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Anna Louise Masten Moore of Dover; a son, Joseph Kenneth Moore of Dover; four daughters, Mary Anna Johnson and Josie M. Strong, both of Dover, Connie M. Starkey of Felton and Debbie M. Jack of Frederica; a sister, Beatrice M. Blendt of Dover; 11 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
Service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the People's United Church of Christ, 46 S. Bradford St., Dover, with the Rev. Kevin L. Gilliam officiating.

Estella M. Adkins, 91
GEORGETOWN - Estella M. Adkins of Georgetown died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. She was 91.
Mrs. Adkins was born in Gumboro, the daughter of the late Noah James and Della Hadder Collins.
She was a resident of Georgetown for the past 10 years. She had lived in Millsboro for 80 years.
Mrs. Adkins was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Hickory Hill United Methodist Church, near Millsboro, and had attended Grace United Methodist Church, Georgetown, in recent years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer B. Adkins, in 1947; and a son, Stanton E. Adkins, in 1953.
She is survived by two sons, George Allen Adkins of Millsboro and Ralph J. Adkins of Wyoming; a brother, Granville Collins of Gumboro; four sisters, Ola Moore of Laurel, Edith Shockley of Salisbury, Md., Ruth Larmore of Parsonsburg, Md., and Maggie Baker of Delmar; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Mark M. Pruett-Barnett will officiate.

Norval Ray Brooks, 62
HARRINGTON - Norval Ray Brooks of Harrington died Monday, Nov. 30, 1998, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident on I-495 in Maryland. He was 62.
Mr. Brooks was the owner and operator of Washington Tours bus lines in Beltsville, Md., for 13 years. He had been working in the bus-transportation industry for 40 years.
He attended Cedar Neck Church in Cedar Neck.
Mr. Brooks was a member of Harrington Moose Lodge 534 and was a charter member of Laurel Moose Lodge in Laurel, Md.
He is survived by his wife of 18 months, Peggy Brooks; a son, Alan Brooks; a daughter, Pamela A. Green; a stepson, Mike Mills; and a brother, Donald Brooks.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Hollywood Cemetery, Milford-Harrington Highway, Harrington.

Mother Dorothy M. 'Fat' Coston, 67
DOVER - Mother Dorothy M. Coston, known to many as 'Fat,' died, following a short illness, Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998, in Bayhealth Medical Center-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 67.
Mother Coston was born March 2, 1931, in Exmore, Va., the daughter of the late Robert J. and Mollie T. Phillips.
She was a faithful member of Emmanuel Pentecostal Church of God under the pastorship of Bishop Joseph P. Cooper. She loved her church and did all she could to support it.
Mother Coston served on the Willing Workers and on the Mothers' Board and was an assistant kitchen coordinator, and worked in the kitchen when she was able. She once was a member of the Emmanuel Divine Gospel Mass Choir.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and a friend to many.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Coston; and three brothers, Willie Phillips, Robert Phillips and Johnny Phillips.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Marilyn Burroughs of Detroit; a daughter and son-in-law, Catherine L. and Phillip Cubbage of Dover; a nephew whom she raised, Joseph Davis Sr.; seven brothers-in-law, Dave Coston of Philadelphia, Paige Coston and Mack Coston of Felton, and Raymond Coston, Booker T. Coston, Lawrence Coston and Harry Lee Coston, all of Virginia; two sisters, Louise Murphy of Painter, Va., and Elizabeth Davis of Dover; a special cousin, Gracie Custis of Exmore, Va.; five sisters-in-law, Virginia Coston and Betty Coston of Delaware, Catherine Haw of Richmond, Va., and Thelma Coston and Virginia Coston, both of Virginia; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives; and two special friends, Mother Violetta Carroll and Betty Waples.
Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Emmanuel Pentecostal Church, 145 Center St., Camden, where friends may call two hours prior to the service.

Leonard A. Daniels, 83
BARCLAY, Md. - Leonard A. Daniels of Barclay died of renal failure Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1998, in Bayhealth Medical Center-Kent General Hospital, Dover, Del. He was 83.
Mr. Daniels was born Sept. 14, 1915, in Barclay, the son of the late Leonard and Lillie Daniels.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Daniels was a laborer for Local 199.
He was a deacon at Community Baptist Church, Barclay, and a member of its Male Chorus and its United Brotherhood.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Hutchins Daniels.
He is survived by a daughter, Ursula D. Ward of Barclay; a brother, the Rev. Milton Daniels of Philadelphia; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Service will be 2 p.m. Monday in Community Baptist Church, Barclay, with the Rev. William Ward officiating.

Jack Durant, 77
COLUMBIA - Jack Durant of Columbia died, following a lengthy illness, Friday, Nov. 27, 1998, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. He was 77.
Mr. Durant was born July 7, 1921, in Red Bank, S.C., the son of the late Arthur and Elizabeth Durant.
He attended grammar school in South Carolina.
Mr. Durant joined the U.S. Marine Corps on June 8, 1942, and remained on active duty until his honorable discharge on Feb. 8, 1950.
After leaving military service, he went to work for Triangle Container Co. in Philadelphia.
Mr. Durant married the former Alice Johnson in 1959; they resided in Philadelphia. After his retirement, they moved to the family's home place in Columbia in 1991.
It was in 1997 that he had a strong desire to recommit his life to Christ. He and his wife later became members of Mount Nebo United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife; three stepsons, Wendell Johnson of Burlington, N.J., Merriel Childs of Philadelphia and Raymond Childs of Colunbia; Wendell Johnson's wife, Naomi Johnson, and Raymond Childs' special friend, Sandra Camper; a brother, James Durant of Long Island, N.Y.; a sister, Mae Durant of Long Island; two brothers-in-law and their wives, James Arthur and Catherine Johnson and George and Vernetta Johnson; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and extended family and friends.
Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Nebo United Methodist Church, Columbia, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be 9 a.m. Monday in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
