LONG NECK - Kenzie J. Schofield Jr. of Long Neck, formerly of Elsmere died of pulmonary failure Monday, Jan. 25, 1999, in his home. He was 70.
Mr. Schofield was born in Pittsburg, the son of the late Kenzie J. and Mary Schofield.
He was a veteran with the Mobile Inshore Undersea Warfare Unit 205 of the U.S. Coast Guard, stationed in Lewes, retiring after 20 years of service at the rank of petty officer first class.
He was employed by Jones Motor Freight Company of Wilmington as a truck driver, retiring after 30 years of service.
Mr. Schofield was a life member of Elks Lodge 2281 of Newark.
He is survived by his wife, Helen A. Schofield; a son, Kenzie J. Schofield III; a daughter, Patricia Schofield of Stanton; two stepsons, James Marsh of Earlville, Md., and Walter Marsh of Richardson Park; two stepdaughters, Diana Bromwell of Virginia Beach, Va., and Joanne Boyer of Bear; two granddaughters, Kimberly and Shannon Scofield, 10 step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
Service will be 11:45 a.m. Friday at The Chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, near New Castle, where friends may call after 11 a.m.
Burial will be private.

Frank Emory Mifflin, 76
GEORGETOWN - Frank Emory Mifflin of Georgetown died of heart failure Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, in his home. He was 76.
Mr. Mifflin was born on Feb. 14, 1922, the son of the late Roman and Elizabeth Mifflin.
He received his education at Richard Allen School in Georgetown.
Mr. Mifflin served in World War II for about two years before receiving a medical discharge.
He was employed by the State Highway Department for 30 years, the Georgetown District Custodial Service, he was the first black janitor at Georgetown High School, later at Sussex Central, and Farmers Bank for 10 years.
Mr. Mifflin was a member of the American Legion and a member of Prospect Church, where he served as a member of the Trustee Board.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Janie Lee; five sisters, Catherine Short, Lula A. Rowley, Alice Mifflin, all of Georgetown, Patsy Henry of Newark and Ruth Ann Fletcher of Seaford; a brother, Thomas Mifflin of Slaughter Neck; 11 sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; two devoted friends, Thomas Henry and Freeman Coverdale of Georgetown; a devoted caretaker, Milton Sealey; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Prospect AME Church, Georgetown, where friends may call two hours prior to the service.
Burial will be in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Georgetown.

Shirley Clevenger O'Donnell, 69
CENTREVILLE, Md. - Shirley Clevenger O'Donnell of Centreville died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, in Memorial Hospital, Easton, Maryland. She was 69.
Mrs. O'Donnell was born on February 18, 1999, in Grasonville, the daughter of the late Edward Frank and Sadie Leola Saddler Clevenger.
She was a 1947 graduate of Stevensville High School, marrying the late Vincent Monroe O'Donnell on May 22, 1948.
Mrs. O'Donnell began working for her brothers oil business, Clevenger's Oil in Grasonville, later working as a waitress for Kentmoor, Poseidon, Islander and Chesapeake restaurants until becoming employed with the State Income Tax Division of the State Comptrollers Office for the State of Maryland for 19 years, retiring in 1992.
She was an avid collector of tiny Beanie Babies and crystal pieces.
Mrs. O'Donnell was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
In addition to her husband, who died in 1991, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William Clevenger in 1983 and Winfred Clevenger in 1998; and a sister Dorothy Clough in 1998.
She is survived by a son, Conaway O'Donnell of Crofton, Md.; a daughter, Loa Diane O'Donnell of Columbia, S.C.; a brother, Marlin Saddler Clevenger of Grasonville, and two grandchildren.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, Chester, Md.
Friends may call 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Easton.

James M. Griffen, 73
MILTON - James M. Griffen of Milton died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, in Beebe Medical Hospital. He was 73.
Mr. Griffen was born on Oct. 17, 1925, in Elizabeth City, N.C., the son of the late Abel and Clara Griffen.
He attended the local public Schools around the area and graduated from P. W. Moore High School.
Mr. Griffen served in the United States Marines for 11 years, from 1947-1958, fighting in World War II.
He became a truck driver and retired as one, traveling to many states around the country such as; New York, North Carolina South Carolina, Delaware, etc.
Mr. Griffen attended the Lord Jesus Christ Church in Ellendale.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose.
He is survived by a son, James Cooper; a daughter, Coretta Cuffee; a daughter-in-law, Linda Cooper; a brother, Shelton Griffen; four sisters, Beulah Harvey, Daisey Daniels, Clara Swinson, and Doris White; a son-in-law, Jullion Cuffee, two stepdaughters, Carla and Gwen; three stepsons, Brian, Andre and Henry; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Loretta Rosemond Sherwood Sinnett, 66
SEAFORD - Loretta Rosemond Sherwood Sinnett of Seaford, formerly of Westmont, N.J., died of pneumonia Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, in her home. She was 66.
Mrs. Sinnett was born in Gibbsboro, N.J., the daughter of the late Alfred Diehl and Katherine Miller Sherwood.
She was a teacher's aide for 18 years, retiring in 1990 from Kingsway Learning Center, Haddonfield, N.J.
Mrs. Sinnett was a member of United Methodist Church of Westmont, N.J., member of Westmont Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a member of Disabled Americans Veterans Auxiliary Chapter 9, Seaford.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Samuel Sinnett; two daughters, Karen Hanna of Glenndora, N.J., and Susan Cole of Westmont, N.J.; a brother, Gordon Sherwood of Tucson, Ariz., and six grandchildren.
Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Jackson Funeral Home, 308 Haddon Ave. Westmont, N.J., where friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Audrey L. Pollard, 82
DENTON, Md. - Audrey L. Pollard of Denton died of heart failure Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, in Shore Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Denton. She was 82.
Mrs. Pollard was born in Linwood, Md., the daughter of the late Henry William Hicks and Florence Kemp Hicks.
She worked for many years as a clerk in local businesses of Denton.
Mrs. Pollard was preceded in death by her husband Edward Thomas Pollard on June 4, 1986, and a son, Thomas E. Pollard on May 21, 1998.
She is survived by a son, William H. Pollard of Seaford; two daughters, Joyce Newcomb of Easton, Md., and Gerry Breeding of Felton; two brothers, Robert Hicks of Laurel and Walter Hicks of Harmony, Md.; three sisters, Helen Kennedy of Laurel, Beatrice Petkiewicz of Wilmington and Frances Willey of Easton; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Dana G. Withrow, 46
FRANKFORD - Dana G. Withrow of rural Frankford, formerly of New Castle died of heart failure Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, in his home.
Mr. Withrow was a self employed plaster and a member of the Plaster Union 38.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth A. Withrow; three sons, Chris and Shawn of Frankford, and Thomas of New Castle; and two sisters, Diana Wierzbicki of Middletown and Lana Frey of Ocean View and a grandson.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Ocean View Presbyterian Church, 6 Central Ave., Ocean View. the Rev. Kerry Shull will officiate.

Jeffrey David Lord, 51
EAST NEW MARKET, Md. - Jeffrey David Lord of East New Market died of heart failure Monday, Jan. 25, 1999, in Fort Howard's Veterans Hospital, Edgemeer. He was 51.
Mr. Lord was born on Sept. 10, 1947 in Easton, the son of the late Lee Wilson and Irene Ruth Blades Lord.
He attended North Dorchester High School.
Mr. Lord joined the U.S. Army on August 29, 1967, serving with the 9th Ordinance, Company USAREUR, discharged on April 9, 1969.
He had been a heavy equipment operator and mechanic working for the John Brake Company of Linkwood, before his illness.
He is survived by a daughter, Kara Aaron of Preston, Md.; a son, Jeffrey David Lord Jr. of Harmony, Md.; a sister, Sonya Eaton of Baltimore; three brothers, Harold Lord of Pocomoke, Gerald W. Lord of Federalsburg, and Philip R. Lord of Salisbury.
Service will be 11 a.m. at Maryland's Veterans Cemetery Chapel, Beulah, Md., where friends may call 7-9 p.m. today at Williamson Funeral Home. The Rev. Denzil Cheek will officiate.
Burial will be in Maryland Veterans Cemetery.

DENTON, Md. - Anna May Breeding of Denton died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, in Caroline Nursing Home, Denton. She was 84.
Mrs. Breedding was born in Adamsville, Del., the daughter of the late Ernest H. Short and Flossie Pritchett Short.
She was a homemaker and lived in the Denton area all her life.
Mrs. Breeding is survived by her husband, Floyd W. Breeding of Denton; a son, William F. Breeding of Federalsburg; a daughter, Delores B. Lane of Federalsburg; a sister, Pauline Messick of Bridgeville, Del.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Paul P. Kinsfather, 78
DOVER - Paul P. Kinsfather of Dover died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999, in Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 78.
Mr. Kinsfather was born in Touchet, Wash., the son of the late Peter and Mollie Jesse Kinsfather.
He was a 25-year veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II, Korea and Vietnam, retiring in 1968.
Mr. Kinsfather served with the Civil Service and had managed the Commissary at Ft. Dix, N.J., and McGuire Air Force Base. He had moved from Brownsville, N.J., to Pleasantville, N.J., recently moving to Dover.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Walburga R. Kinsfather of Dover; a son, Peter P. Kinsfather of Dover; a daughter, Mollie E. Yarnal and her husband David W. of Dover; a brother, Alexander Kinsfather of Washington; a sister, Clara Metz of Eugene, Ore.; and a granddaughter, Amanda R. Skidmore and her husband, Charles A. of Dover.
