SEAFORD - Ruth 'Boots' Robinson Schueler of Seaford died of pneumonia Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, in her home. She was 76.
Mrs. Schueler was born in Fredericktown, Md., the daughter of the late Edwin Howell and Ruth Hewitt Robinson.
She worked as a secretary for the Seaford School District and then the Mount Olivet United Methodist Church for 10 years, retiring in 1986.
She was a member of Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, where she was very active in church work; a past president of Spade & Trowel Garden Club; and a member of the Business & Professional Women. She also was a member of the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, Nanticoke Senior Center, Republican Women and the Seaford Historical Society, all of Seaford.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Paul Schueler, in 1992.
She is survived by four daughters, Janet R. Lundquist of Seaford, Sara L. Devleeschouwer of Frederica, Karen L. Siegmund of Milton and Christine A. Wasson of Seaford; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, High Street, Seaford. The Rev. Earle N. Baker will officiate.
Burial will be private.

Lelia Elizabeth Smith, 85
SELBYVILLE - Lelia Elizabeth Smith of Selbyville died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. She was 85.
Mrs. Smith was a retired homemaker and domestic worker.
She was a member of Zoar U.M. Church and its Women's Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde W. Smith Sr., in 1983; and a son, Gene C. Smith, in 1984.
She is survived by two sons, Clyde W. Smith Jr. of Millsboro and Walter Lee Smith Sr. of Frankford; a daughter, Mary S. Ward of Dover; three daughters-in-law, Audrey Smith of Millsboro, Corine Smith of Frankford and Paulette Smith of Dover; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Zoar U.M. Church, Selbyville, where friends may call two hours prior to the service.
Burial will be in Zoar's Golden Acres Cemetery, Selbyville.

Shirley Covey Towers, 64
FEDERALSBURG, Md. - Shirley Covey Towers of near Federalsburg died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, in her home. She was 64.
Mrs. Towers was born July 10, 1934, the daughter of the late S. Gray Covey and Daisy May Blades Covey.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Towers attended Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church when she was able, and was a member of its United Methodist Women.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Cleota Covey; her husband, Bruce Nelson Towers; a daughter, Renae Victoria Towers; and a stepsister, Janice Brittingham.
She is survived by two daughters, Tina T. Jacobs of Hurlock and Sheila D. Edwards of Federalsburg; a sister, Leora C. Peele of Federalsburg; three stepbrothers, James Covey and Kenneth Covey, both of Seaford, Del., and Edward Covey of Hurlock; a stepsister, Gail Spearin of Seaford; six grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Framptom-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home P.A., where friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Denzil Cheek will officiate.
Burial will be in Junior Order Cemetery, Preston, following the service.

Christine Wall, 55
HARRINGTON - Christine Wall of Harrington died of heart failure, after having complications from surgery, Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999. She was 55.
Mrs. Wall was born Oct. 21, 1943, the daughter of Sylvia Spear Wall of Harrington and the late Guy C. Wall.
She had worked at the Safeway store in Dover and driven a school bus for Milford Christian School. For the last 10 years, she had worked at Dover Air Force Base as a buyer in the contracting department.
Mrs. Wall was a member of Harrington Baptist Church.
She belonged to a very close-knit family; her grandson was the pride of her life. She was the type of person who never met a stranger and was beloved by many.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Armin Wellhouse.
In addition to her mother, with whom she lived, she is survived by a son, Brian J. Wellhouse Sr.; a sister, Miriam Shepard of Harrington; a grandson, Brian J. Wellhouse Jr.; and nephews and nieces.
Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Harrington Baptist Church.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Fleischauer Funeral Home, 48 W. Market St., Greenwood.
Burial will be in St. Johnstown Cemetery, Greenwood.
Herbert J. Berkovitz
DOVER - Herbert J. Berkovitz of Dover died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 1998.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bernice Berkovitz; three daughters, Dr. Roslyn Berkovitz of Buffalo, N.Y., Helen Schlesinger of Dover and Linda Wattel of Long Island, N.Y.; and a son-in-law, Dr. Stephen Schlesinger of Dover.

Anthony K. 'Tony' Ferretti, 53
CLAYTON - Anthony K. 'Tony' Ferretti of Clayton, formerly of Gibbstown, N.J., died Monday, Dec. 7, 1998, in Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 53.
Mr. Ferretti was born in Woodbury, N.J., the son of Dino A. Ferretti and Dora (Luppinetti) Ferretti of Gibbstown.
He was a graduate of St. James High School, Carney's Point, N.J.
He was a line worker for Johnson's Control in Middletown.
He was a member of the Board of Education of the Positive Outcomes Charter School in Dover.
Mr. Ferretti enjoyed collecting and showing antique cars.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his companion with whom he lived, Dawn Amrhein; a son, Dino A. Ferretti of Dover; two sisters, Palma Betz of Thorofare and Doreen Vanaman of Audubon; and many nieces and nephews.
Service will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael R.C. Church, Gibbstown.

Dorothy Marie Hakes, 72
MAGNOLIA - Dorothy Marie Hakes of Magnolia died Monday, Dec. 7, 1998, in Christiana Hospital, Newark. She was 72.
Ms. Hakes was born Jan. 18, 1926, in Johnstown, Pa., the daughter of the late James & Helda Fyok.
She had been working as the transportation supervisor for the Dover Modern Maturity Center for the past eight years.
She attended the Dover Assembly of God, Dover.
She is survived by a son, Kevin Hakes, and his wife, Bonnie, of Dover; a daughter, Leanne Lawrence of New Jersey; a sister, Jean Craig of Johnstown; and four grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the Forest Lawn Cemetery, Johnstown.

Richard E. Hammond, 77
FELTON - Richard E. Hammond of Felton died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998, at Wilmington Hospital of Christiana Care, Wilmington. He was 77.
Mr. Hammond was a poultry worker for Conagra in Milford for 27 years, retiring in 1982.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Elizabeth Hammond; two stepsons, Frank Shanan of Felton and Lester Shanan of Whitleysburg; two brothers, Howard Hammond of Magnolia and Robert Hammond of Seaford; a sister, Evelyn Flowers of Magnolia; three grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, Main Street, Felton, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery, Sandtown.
Georgia Ada Tunnell, 91
GRASONVILLE, Md. - Georgia Ada Tunnell of Grasonville died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998. She was 91.
Mrs. Tunnell was born Aug. 1, 1907, in Wilmington, Del., the daughter of the late George W. Waples and Annie W. Chamberlain.
She received her education in upstate New York, and later, she came back to Wilmington, where she attended the old Howard School.
After her education, Mrs. Tunnell entered the domestic field, mostly cooking. She also operated a beauty shop in her home for 10 years.
She married the late Lewis M. Tunnell Dec. 27, 1930, in Ezion Church; they were married for 57 years.
Mrs. Tunnell converted at the age of 17. She was very active in her church, where she sang with the Senior Choir and was a member of the Steward Board and of the Clara Evans Health and Welfare. She organized the Delaware Gospel Chorus, for which she served as president for a number of years. She was also district steward of Ezion Mount Carmel Church in Wilmington, for the Delaware Conference. She loved the Lord; when things didn't go right, she would go to God in prayer and ask for forgiveness.
She also was a member of the Order of the Easter Star, Star of Bethlehem 18, Prince Hall Affiliate.
Mrs. Tunnell was a good wife and housekeeper, always willing to help where needed. She loved to sew and to plant flowers in her yard and house. She loved to travel, and did so until ill health hindered her from traveling.
She is survived by two sisters, Evelyn Steward and Mary Waples; a stepson; a sister-in-law; a devoted nephew and niece, Harry Warrick and Iona Warrick; and a host of other nephew, nieces, cousins and friends.
Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Ezion Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, 10th and Lombard streets, Wilmington, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Friends may also call 5-7 p.m. Friday at Bryan's United Methodist Church, Grasonville, the Rev. Vaughn Adams, pastor.

Dorothy Marie Webb, 78
GREENWOOD - Dorothy Marie Webb of Greenwood died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998, in the Country Rest Home, Greenwood. She was 78.
Mrs. Webb was born in Lynn, Mass., in 1920.
She earned her master's degree at Inter-American University in Puerto Rico.
Mrs. Webb was a teacher and taught school in many different locations while traveling with her husband, who was in the U.S. Air Force. She became an assistant principal in her last school, and retired in 1979.
She liked to play golf and travel with her husband in their travel trailer. They especially liked to pull their trailer up to Ossipee Lake in New Hampshire.
She is survived her husband of 53 years, Kenneth L. Webb; two sons, Kenneth H. Webb of Clearwater, Fla., and Robert E. Webb of Greenwood; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Service will be held in Florida at the convenience of the family.
