Elsa F. Minch, 66

MILFORD - Elsa F. Minch of Milford died Friday, Oct. 16, 1998, in her home. She was 66.

Mrs. Minch was born in Bridgeton, N.J., daughter of the late Joseph and Kathryn Minch.

She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by a brother, John Minch in 1995.

She is survived by a daughter, Rose Lofland of Milford; and two grandchildren, Joseph and Maria.

Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 N.W. Front St., Milford.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milford.

Jesse James Sutton, 6

GREENSBORO, Md. - Jesse James Sutton of Greensboro died Sunday, Oct. 18, 1998, in the Kent and Queen Anne Hospital, Chestertown. He was 6.

Jesse was born on June 14, 1992, son of Samuel E. and Pamela McClyment-Sutton.

He was a first-grade student at Greensboro Elementary School. He enjoyed fishing, T-ball and being outside.

Jesse was a member of the Greensboro Spierings Garage T-ball team.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Patricia L. Sutton.

He is survived by maternal grandparents, Jean and Ronald Strotman of Ridgley; paternal grandfather, Norman M. Sutton of Chestertown; great-grandfather, Edward M. Leiby of Chestertown; uncle and aunt, Bruce and Angie Sutton of Chestertown; aunt, Rhonda Moser of Lynch; aunt, Cindy Reines of Lincoln, Del.; uncle, Ronald Strotman Jr. of Greensboro; two brothers, Christopher Gallion of Chestertown and Dutch Sutton of Greensboro; a sister, Brandy McClyment of Greensboro.

Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Fleegle & Helfenbein Funeral Home, 106 W. Sunset Ave., Greensboro.

Friends may call Wednesday 7-9 p.m. in the funeral home.

Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Chestertown.

Robert Davis,93

HARRINGTON - Robert Davis of Harrington died of heart failure Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998, in his home. He was 93.

Mr. Davis was son of the late Ramus and Lillie B. Davis of Willow Grove.

He was a farmer, retiring in 1978.

Mr. Davis was a member of Harrington Senior Center.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Rosa Carter Davis in 1990; three stepsons, Robert E. Carter in 1988, James E. Carter in 1989 and John A. Carter in 1996.

He is survived by a stepson, Charles F. Carter of Felton; a sister, Tabitha Bloth of Wilmington; 17 step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at McKnatt Funeral Home, 50 Commerce St., Harrington, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.

Edward William Hamilton, 68

ENGLEWOOD, Fla. - Edward William Hamilton of Englewood died Sunday, Oct. 18, 1998, in his son's home, in Lewes, Del.

Mr. Hamilton was the son of the late James Alexander Hamilton and Helen Amelia Leichlider.

He was raised in Silver Spring, Md. He served as a Cub master and Boy Scout leader in Vienna, Va., in the early 1960s. He later moved to Lewes, where he was a master plasterer. He retired from Beebe Medical Center in 1992 and moved Englewood in 1994.

He survived by his wife, Wyneeta Winn Hamilton of Englewood; two sons, Edward Winn Hamilton and Robert Gary Hamilton, both of Lewes; a daughter, Wyneeta Hamilton Jones of Lewes; two sisters, Helene Diefenback and Margaret Roberts, both of Frederick, Md.; a brother, James Alexander Hamilton Jr. of Silver Spring; and nine grandchildren.

Service will be 7 p.m. Friday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Second Street, Lewes.

Burial will be private.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Movement Disorder Center, University of South Florida, Tampa, Fla.

Joan Ellen Martin, 65

REHOBOTH BEACH - Joan Ellen Martin died of cancer, Monday, Oct. 19, 1998, in her home. She was 65.

Mrs. Martin was daughter of the late Elsie Quinn of Lewes, and the late James Quinn.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Martin was a member of St. Edmond's Catholic Church, the Angola-by-the Bay Women's Club and Kings Creek Golf Association.

She is survived by her husband, James J. Martin of Rehoboth Beach; three daughters Mariann Kramer of Cave Creek, Ariz., Ellen Martin of Rehoboth Beach, and Kelly Martin of Newark; three sons, James Martin of Fort Collins, Colo., Michael Martin of Angola-by-the-Bay, and Craig Martin of Jersey City, N.J.; two brothers, James Quinn of Arnold, Md., Donald Quinn of Summit, N.J.; and five grandchildren, Dominic, Timmy, Michael, Brandon and Bryce.

Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Edmond's Catholic Church, Kings Charles and Laurel Street, Rehoboth Beach.

Friends may call 7-9 p.m. today at Parsell Funeral Home & Crematorium Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes.

Robert J. Riordan, 71

LONG NECK - Robert J. Riordan of Long Neck, and formerly of Philadelphia, died of heart failure Sunday, Oct. 18, 1998, in his home. He was 71.

Mr. Riordan was born in Philadelphia, the son of the late Maurice Riordan and Ethel Kirkpatrick.

He was a retired electronics technician from General Electric Corp. in Philadelphia. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Mr. Riordan was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Louise A. Riordan; a son, John Riordan of Virginia Beach, Va.; three daughters, Cheryl Riordan of Virginia Beach, Betsey DeFillippis of Mantua, N.J., and Wendy Fandler of Swarthmore, Pa.; a brother, Maurice Riordan of Strathmere, N.J.; and nine grandchildren.

Service will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Long Neck Road and Del. 24, Long Neck, where friends may call after 2 p.m.

Burial will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Summit.

Linda Lee Miller Duff, 52

WORTON, Md. - Linda Lee Miller Duff of Worton, died of heart failure, Monday, Oct. 19, 1998, in her home. She was 52.

Ms. Duff was born in Chestertown, the daughter of D. Calvin and Jeanette M. Miller of Millington.

She was a homemaker.

Ms. Duff was very active in Crossroad Community Center, and enjoyed crafts and knitting; she enjoyed making pottery items and also enjoyed country music.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Judith Lyn Miller, in 1952.

She is survived by a sister, Mildred 'Millie' Stevens of Kennedyville, and a brother, Calvin 'Dee' Miller Jr. of Chestertown

Service and burial will be private.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contribution made in her memory to the Crossroads Community Center, 937 Gateway Drive, Chestertown, MD 21620.

Abbie Eleanor Hinkelman Nash, 78

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Eleanor H. Nash, of Chestertown, formerly of Washington, D.C., and Prince George's County died Oct. 19, 1998, in her home. She was 78.

Mrs. Nash was born on Jan. 29, 1920, in Williamsport, Pa., the daughter of the late Harry Luther and Abbie Quigle Hickleman. She married William H. Nash of Rochester, N.Y., on Aug. 20, 1943; together they lived in Washington, D.C., from 1943 until 1998, where she raised her family. In 1998, they moved to Chestertown. Mrs. Nash devoted much of her time to her family, her church and Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed reading, writing and poetry.

Mrs. Nash was a member of University United Methodist Church in College Park.

She is survived by three daughters, the Rev. Eleanor Laws and Joyce Collett, both of Chestertown, and Claudia Keyes of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a son, William H. Nash Jr., of Saudi Arabia; a sister, Evelyn Everett of Heath, Ohio; five grandsons and five granddaughters.

Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Christ United Methodist Church.

Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in Fort Lincoln Cemetery.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Kent County Hospice Foundation, 118 S. Lynchburg St., Chestertown, MD 21620.

Myrl Edgar Stevens Jr., 64

ROCK HALL, Md. - Myrl Edgar 'Steve' Stevens Jr., of Rock Hall, died at Kent and Queen Annes Hospital on Monday, Oct. 19, 1998. He was 64.

He was born in Baltimore County, the son of the late Myrl E. Sr. and Katherine E. Hook Stevens.

Mr. Stevens began his career by running the family marina, 'Stevens Boat Yard,' in Seneca Park. He married Joan E. Hart on April 27, 1963; they made their home in Baltimore County for six years, where he worked as a carpenter and as a charter boat-fishing captain. In 1968, he began his career with the Department of Natural Resources. He and his wife moved to Leonardtown, where they lived for one-and-a-half years. They then moved to Kent Island for three years; they then moved to Rock Hall in 1973. That same year, Mr. Stevens was promoted to corporal in the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. He retired in 1988.

He enjoyed boating, fishing and woodworking.

Mr. Stevens was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Natural Resources Police Retired Officers Association.

He is survived by a son, Micheal Stevens of Rock Hall; three daughters, Antoinette Legg of Wardensville, W.Va., Rose Wallace of Rock Hall and Patricia Van Culin of Galena; a brother, Timothy Stevens of Chase, three sisters, Irene Boyce and Katherine Williams, both of Seneca Park, and Susan Muller of Delta, Pa.; and eight grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Helfenbein & Newman Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown.

Relatives and friends may call 7-9 p.m. today.

Burial will be in Wesley Chapel, Rock Hall.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions made to the Maryland Kidney Foundation, 1107 Kenilworth Drive, Suite 202, Baltimore, MD 21204.
