Phyllis Marlene Howell Milbourne, 48

BELLEVUE, Md. - Phyllis Marlene Howell Milbourne of Bellevue died Thursday, Oct. 15, 1998, in her home. She was 48.

Mrs. Milbourne was born Aug. 4, 1950, in Easton, the daughter of the late Doris M. Howell of Oxford and the late Donald W. Howell.

She was a graduate from St. Micheal's High School.

Mrs. Milbourne worked as a pediatric aide for more than ten years at the Memorial Hospital in Easton.

On July 31, 1998, she married Russell Millbourne of Bellevue and made her home there.

In addition to her mother and husband, Mrs. Milbourne is survived by a daughter, Donna H. Brummell of Royal Oak; a stepdaughter, Anita Gibson of Easton; two sisters, Betty Smith of Philadelphia and June Dickerson of Lampasas, Texas; two brothers, Donald Scott of Killeen, Texas, and Kevin Howell of Waldorf; two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

Service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Luke U.M. Church, Bellevue.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Burial will be in Royal Cemetery, Royal Oak.

William Dennis Myer, 55

CENTREVILLE, Md. - William Dennis Myer of Centreville died Oct. 15, 1998, in the University Hospital, Baltimore, Md. He was 55.

Mr. Myer was born Jan. 29, 1943, in Clarksburg, W.Va., the son of the late James O. and Wanda Collins Myer.

He was a graduate of Brooklyn Park High School and a graduate of University of Maryland Collage Park with a bachelor of science in business administration.

Mr. Myer worked for American Airlines for 12 years at BWI and Dallas.

He then returned to Maryland and was a self-employed shoe repairman; and also Zips Ice Cream and Orange Bowl until retiring in 1992.

He is survived by his wife Patricia Myer; a son, William 'Billy' Myer Jr. of Hanover, Pa.; four daughters, Teresa Wanda-Ester of Centreville, Heather Ann Warren of Centreville, Connie Myer of Columbia and Amy Myer of Franklin, Tenn.; two brothers, Robert Myer of Woodbine and James Myer of Arnold; and four grandchildren.

Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., 408 S. Liberty St., Centreville.

Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Easton.

George Burton Coverdale Jr.,70

MILFORD - George Burton Coverdale Jr. of Milford died Oct. 16, 1998. He was 70.

Mr. Coverdale was the son of the late Marian Hester Fleetwood Coverdale and George Burton Coverdale.

He was preceded in death by William Martin Coverdale.

He is survived by two nephews.

Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Kenner Funeral Home Of L.A. Muhleisen & Son, 2607 Williams Blvd., where friends may call after 12:30 p.m.

Friend may also call 6-8 p.m. today.

Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery.

Howard W. Davidson,73

NASSAU - Howard W. Davidson of Nassau died Oct. 16, 1998, at Beebe Medical Center. He was 73.

Mr. Davidson was a clerk for many years at Thos. Best Ace Hardware in Lewes.

He was a U.S. Marine veteran, serving in World War II.

He enjoyed wood working in spare time.

Mr. Davidson was a member of the American Legion Post 0017 and also a member of White's Chapel U.M. Church.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Thelma Reed Davidson; a sister, Pearl Argo, Milton; and several nieces and nephews.

Service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Chapel of Short Funeral Services, Federal Street, Milton, where friends may call after noon.

Burial will be in White Chapel Cemetery.

Instead of flowers, the family suggest contributions made to Sussex Elementary Consortium, C/O Cape Henlopen High School, 1270 Kings Highway, Lewes, or Whites Chapel U.M. Church.

Leonia L.'Joan' Guessford, 73

FELTON - Leonia L.'Joan' Guessford died Friday, Oct. 16, 1998, in Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 73.

Mrs. Guessford was a seamstress for the Sportscraft Factory in Lewes, retiring several years ago.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Norman Guessford; two sons, Thomas R. Frank of Fort Worth, Texas, and Larry Guessford of Newark; three sisters, Betty Davis and Dora Short, both of Georgetown, Evelyn Brooks of McIntosh, New Mexico; and four grandchildren.

Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, Bear.

Friends may call Monday 7-9 p.m. in the chapel of Berry Short Funeral Home, N.W. Front Street, Milford.

Burial will be in the Veterans cemetery.

Joseph E. 'Joe' Rogers, 83

MILFORD - Joseph E. 'Joe' Rogers of Milford died Friday, Oct. 16, 1998, in Milford Center. He was 83.

Mr. Rogers was a resident of the Milford Center for the past five years.

He was a lifelong carpenter working with his father and brothers. He had also worked several years for the Carpenters and Millrights Union 2012 in Seaford, retiring in 1980.

Mr. Rogers was an honorary member of the V.F.W. in Milford for his service during World War II building ships for the war at the Vinyard Shipyard in Milford.

He enjoyed nice cars and spending time with his family.

Mr. Rogers was a 30-year member of the Milford Elks Lodge 2401, where he had been honored with the Elk of the Year Award in 1978-1979 and has been chairman of the house committee. He was a life member of the Calvary U.M. Church and had been a member for more than 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn H. Rogers in 1988; a son, Joseph Donald Rogers in 1937 and two grandchildren, Linda Rogers Johnson and L. Kevin Rogers in 1983.

He is survived by three sons, Milford Mayor Joseph 'Ronnie' Rogers, Lewis Wayne Rogers and Joseph Eddie Rogers, all of Milford; two daughters, Joyce K. Cline and Barbara Jo Moore, both of Lincoln; a sister, Sara Marie Rogers of Elsmere; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, N.W. Front Street, Milford, where friends may call 7-9 p.m. today.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milford.

Contributions may be made to the Calvary U.M. Church, Milford.

Harold T. Wall Sr., 66

SMYRNA - Harold T. Wall Sr. of Smyrna died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998, in Kent General Hospital. He was 66.

Mr. Wall was born in 1932, in Williamsport, Pa., the son of the late Arthur and Pearl Fredericy Wall.

He was the team leader of the maintenance department for the Delaware Printing Company in Dover for the last 21 years.

He had been a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Wall enjoyed camping and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He had said he was the richest man in the world because of the love of all his family.

He was preceded in death by a son, Richard A. Wall in 1984, and a grandson, Levi T. Wall, in 1996.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Carey Wall; two sons, Harold T. Wall Jr. of Townsend and Kevin A. Wall of Clayton; three daughters, Bonita Holcomb of Darden, Tenn., Phyllis Kapp of Parsons, Tenn., and April Scott of Dover; a brother, Robert E. Wall of Smyrna; his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Carey of Smyrna; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Smyrna Wesleyan Church, 433 West Commerce Street in Smyrna.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. today at the church.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.

James E. Silves, 67

DOVER - James E. Silves of Dover died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998, in his home. He was 67.

Mr. Silves was born Nov. 28, 1930, in Glenfield, N.Y., the son of the late Elsworth and Myrtle Hemphill Silves.

He was a veteran of World War II. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 24 years of service as an electronic technician, then worked for 16 years for Weatherly Yacht Co. and ManGar Marine in Smyrna as a marine mechanic, specializing in boat-motor repairs.

Mr. Silves enjoyed fishing and bowling.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Nancy Ann Kay Silves; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Cynthia M. Poore and Leroy Poore of Dover, MST1 Janice K. Silves of Lansing, Mich., and Nicolette P. Ortiz and Pedro Ortiz of Dover; two sons and a daughter-in-law, James W. Silves and Theresa Silves of Hartly and Kenneth Silves of Dover, along with Kenneth's fiancee, Cheryl Cooke of Dover; another daughter-in-law, Rita Silves of Dover; a brother, Richard Silves of Carson City, Nev.; 12 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call one hour before the service.

Burial will be 1:30 p.m. Monday in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.

Ruth M. Camardese, 85

FENWICK ISLAND - Ruth M. Camardese of Fenwick Island died Monday, Oct. 12, 1998, in Atlantic General Hospital. She was 85.

Mrs. Camardese was born in 1913, in Green Bay, Wis., the daughter of the late Henry and Susan Engels.

She was a homemaker

She served in the U.S. Marine Corps from Dec. 1, 1943, to Feb. 22, 1945, in the motor transportation unit.

Mrs. Camardese was a member of the Ocean City Post 166 American Legion. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Bethany Beach, and a WIBC Senior Bowling Champion for the state of Delaware in 1995-1997 for the Senior Olympics, where she went on to represent Delaware at the nationals. She was also a member of the Club 55 Midway Bowling League.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Joe Camardese; two sons, Mike Camardese of Lake Mary, Fla., and Jody Camardese of Rockville, Md.; a daughter, Sue Camardese of Burtonville, Md.; and seven grandchildren.

Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Del. 26 in Bethany Beach.

A private burial will be in Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Bear.

Instead of flowers, the family suggest contributions be made to Lombardy Cancer Center-Development Office, Research Building Room E 501, 3970 Reservoir Road N.W., Washington, D.C. 20007.

Charles Whitall Wilkins III, 74

MILFORD - Charles Whitall Wilkins III of Milford died Monday, Oct. 12, 1998, in Mount Sinai Hospital, New York. He was 74.

Mr. Wilkins graduated from the University of Delaware with an electrical engineering degree.

He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II.

He worked for Honeywell Industries in Fort Washington, Pa., for 19 years, retiring in 1972 as a marketing manager. He had worked for Pratt and Whitney for 10 years. He also worked with the state of Delaware as a noise engineer.

Mr. Wilkins was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Milford.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Bernice J. Wilkins; two daughters, Jan Barbier of Milford and Shirley Doll of Lighthouse Point, Fla.; a stepson, Richard B. Mills of Milford; a stepdaughter, Michele Benson of Lincoln; a half-brother, Joseph of Verga, N.J.; and seven grandchildren.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Christ Episcopal Church, 2nd and Church streets, Milford.

Burial will be private.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Christ Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 191, Milford, DE 19963.
