Edward Alfred Clerval, 82

DOVER - Edward Alfred Clerval of Dover died Monday, Sept. 28, 1998, in Kent General Hospital. He was 82.

Mr. Clerval was born Feb. 22, 1916, in Philadelphia.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Clerval worked as a maintenance pipefitter for Chrysler for 29 years, retiring in 1980.

He moved from Clayton to Dover in 1988.

Mr. Clerval was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a former member of the Moose Lodge in New Castle and a member of the Merchant Marine.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Shirley V. Clerval of Dover; three sons, Edward H. Clerval of Clayton, Dennis M. Clerval of California and David W. Clerval of Somers Point, N.J.; two daughters, Jean Ann Pino of Wye Mills, Md., and Sandra Lee Anders of Clayton; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Dover.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Torbert Funeral Chapel, Dover.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, Pa.

Walzo Lee Smith, 46

MILLSBORO - Walzo Lee Smith of Millsboro died Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was 46.

Mr. Smith was born in Pungoteague, Va., the son of Henry T. Smith Sr. and the late Hilda L. Collins Smith.

He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Mr. Smith was a self-employed auto mechanic.

He is survived by a son, Michael Lamont Smith of Baltimore; his father, Henry T. Smith Sr. of Millsboro; two brothers, Levi Smith of Millsboro and Henry T. Smith Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four sisters, Sarah Mifflin, Shirley West and Ethel Finney, all of Millsboro, and Edna Smith of Georgetown; a great-aunt; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at St. John's Baptist Church in Millsboro, where friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.

Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Millsboro.

Andrea F. Deklerow, 45

MILLSBORO - Andrea F. Deklerow of Millsboro died Monday, Sept. 28, 1998, in her home. She was 45.

Ms. Deklerow was born in Wilmington, the daughter of Doris Blake Ring and the late Howard Ring.

She was a homemaker.

She is survived by a fiance, Harvey R. Battersby of Millsboro; a stepdaughter, Celeste M. Price of Oxford, Pa.; her mother, Doris Ring of Wilmington; a brother, Blake Ring of Hawaii; and a sister, Julie Robertson of Richland, Wash.

Service and burial will be private.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the Delaware Hospice, Southern Division, 600 N. DuPont Highway, Georgetown, DE 19947.

Bertha V. Kemp, 91

MILFORD - Bertha V. Kemp of Milford, died of respiratory failure Thursday, Oct. 8, 1998, in Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 91.

Mrs. Kemp and her late husband, Roy B. Kemp Sr., owned and operated Kempie's Dry Cleaners on Carlisle Lane in Milford from 1938-1967, when Mr. Kemp retired. She then operated the business herself from 1968-1975.

She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Milford.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1971.

She is survived by a son, Roy B. Kemp Jr. of Milford; three grandchildren, Margo K. Halton of Westfield, Mass., Roy B. Kemp III of Milford and Michael B. Kemp of Dover; and seven great-grandchildren.

Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Ave., Milford, where friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milford.

Dianne E. Willey, 58

BRIDGEVILLE - Dianne E. Willey of Bridgeville, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1998, in her home. She was 58.

Mrs. Willey had been employed by the town of Bridgeville as the police department secretary for 1212 years.

She was a member of Union United Methodist Church and active in its choir. She also was a member of Strikes and Spares Bowling Team of the Wednesday Night Bowling League, Seaford, for may years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, N. James Willey, in 1972.

She is survived by three sons, Lance J. Willey and Clay C. Willey, both of Bridgeville, and Chris A. Willey of Mount Tremper, N.Y.; her mother, Hildred A. Collins of Bridgeville; and two grandchildren, Jim Willey and Stacey Willey, both of Bridgeville.

Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Union United Methodist Church, Market and Laws streets, Bridgeville, where friends may call one hour before the service.

Burial will be in Bridgeville Cemetery.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be sent to Union United Methodist Church, Attn.: Bell Choir, 2 Laws St., Bridgeville, DE 19933.

Irene C. Fouraker, 83

LEWES - Irene C. Fouraker of Lewes, died Thursday, Oct. 8, 1998, in her home. She was 83.

Mrs. Fouraker was born Dec. 10, 1914, in Laurel, the daughter of the late Phillip F. Hall and Lucy E. Willen.

She was a homemaker.

Mr. Fouraker was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Mary Martha Circle.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, George A. Steele, in 1957, and her second husband, Charles E. Fouraker, in 1982.

She is survived by a son, Albert M. Steele of Milford, a daughter, Peggy Lymaster, of Lewes, a stepson, Alvin Steele of Seaford, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call one hour prior to service. The Rev. Charles Moyer will preside.

Burial will be in Epworth Methodist Cemetery, Rehoboth Beach.

Shirley H. Baldwin, 64

REHOBOTH BEACH - Shirley H. Baldwin of Midway Estates, Rehoboth Beach, died of heart failure Thursday, Oct. 8, 1998, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. She was 64.

Mrs. Baldwin was born Oct. 29, 1933, in Wilmington, the daughter of the late Ellsworth H. Horney and Tylethea Ege.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Baldwin was a member of New Covenant Presbyterian Church, Rehoboth Beach, and a member of the Beebe Medical Center Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband, Melvin C. Baldwin of Rehoboth Beach; three daughters, Bonnie M. MacGregor of Fayetteville, N.C., Wendie B. Lovell of Garland, Texas, and Melanie Baldwin of Lewes; two brothers, Edward Horney of Milford and William Horney of Newark; a sister, Romaine James of Claymont; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorial service will be today at Atkins-Lodge Chapel of Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes, with Chaplain Thomas A. MacGregor and the Rev. Jamie Swalm officiating.

Burial will be private.

The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to the New Covenant Presbyterian Church - PCA, Building Fund, Del. 1, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.

Raymond D. Crowder, 69

MILLSBORO - Raymond D. Crowder of Millsboro, and formerly of Wilmington, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1998, of respiratory failure in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was 69.

Mr. Crowder was born in Upland, Pa., the son of the late Joseph R. and Desma E. Fitzgerald Crowder.

He was a merchant mariner with the Sun Oil Co., Marcus Hook, Pa., retiring in 1978 after about 25 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Georgianna Miller Crowder, in 1979; a son, Raymond D. Crowder Jr.; a daughter, Virginia M. Chaffee; a granddaughter, Renee L. Mitchell; and a step-granddaughter, Kimberly Sue Sammons.

He is survived by three sons, Robert H. Crowder of Upper Chichester, Pa., Gary W. Crowder of West Chester, Pa., and Steven T. Crowder of Hockessin; five daughters, Mary Ann Cheyney and Candy M. Adkinson, both of Boothwyn, Pa., Christine D. Romano and Denise F. Crowder, both of Claymont, and Carol E. Mitchell of Trainer, Pa.; two stepdaughters, Wanda S. Sammons of Dagsboro and Nancy Ann Winter of Millville; a sister, Marion Schnebelle of Boynton Beach, Fla.; and 17 grandchildren.

Private graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Siloam United Methodist Church Cemetery in Booths Corner, Pa., with the Rev. Samuel Tyrens officiating.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Lung Association of Delaware, 625 S. State St., Dover, DE 19901.

Florence E. Davis, 85

CLAYTON - Florence E. Davis of Clayton, died Thursday, Oct. 8, 1998, in the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill, Smyrna. She was 85.

Mrs. Davis was born Sept. 8, 1913, in Wilmington, the daughter of the late William D. and Lillian Tribbitt Lore.

She was a homemaker.

She is survived by four sons, George F. Davis of Smyrna, Donald B. Davis of Newark, Robert W. Davis of Millsboro and Arthur D. Davis of Etters, Pa.; three daughters, Louise E. Pryor of Newport News, Va., Shirley L. Gonzalez of Smyrna, and Mary Ellen Haas of Florence, Miss.; 19 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.

David W. Keddie, 42

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. - David W. Keddie of Hollywood, died of liver and kidney failure Thursday, Oct. 8, 1998, in Memorial General Hospital, Hollywood. He was 42.

Mr. Keddie was born in Providence, R.I., the son of William J. Keddie of Wyoming, Del., and the late Joanne Servant Keddie.

He later moved to Fairport, N.Y., where he graduated from high school. He had been a resident of Dover, Del., for a short time before moving to Florida in 1981.

Mr. Keddie had owned and operated a locksmith business in the Hollywood area for many years.

In addition to his father, he is survived by two brothers, Douglas Keddie and John Keddie, both of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; three sisters, Deborah Powell of Wyoming, Donna Turturici of Worcester, Mass., and Mary Manson of Ramstein Air Base, Germany; and several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, South State Street, Dover.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover.
