Theodore Jester, 92

GEORGETOWN - Theodore Jester of Georgetown, died Friday, Oct. 9, 1998, in the Harrison House, Georgetown, where he had been a resident for several months. He was 92.

Mr. Jester was a custodian at the Social Services Building in Georgetown, retiring in 1985. He was also a meat cutter at both ACME and A & F.

He had been a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and the Franklin Lodge 17 AF & AM Masonic Lodge in Georgetown.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Mae Jester in 1996.

He is survived by two nephews, Donald Jester of Harrington and Merrill Jester of Georgetown, who cared for him; two additional nephews and four nieces.

Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market Street in Georgetown.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where a Masonic Service will held at 7:30 p.m.

Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Georgetown.

Instead of flowers, the family suggest contributions be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 7 South King Street, Georgetown, DE 19947.

Donald A. Goetz, 58

MILLSBORO - Donald A. Goetz of Millsboro, died of cancer Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998, in Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 58.

Mr. Goetz was born in Baltimore, the son of Helen McNally Goetz of Baltimore and the late Benjamin Goetz.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a service manager for Conectiv Services, formerly known as Clarke Mechanical, in Georgetown for 21 years.

Mr. Goetz attended the Gumboro Fellowship Church.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Bonnie Esham Goetz; a son, Michael A. Goetz of Claymont; a daughter, Julie Goetz, at home; and a sister, Eileen Higdon, of Baltimore.

Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro, with pastor Jeff Hudson officiating.

Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Millsboro Cemetery, Millsboro.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests donations be sent to the Gumboro Fellowship Church, Route 3 Box 217, Millsboro, DE 19966.

Wanda Lee Walker, 70

SEAFORD - Wanda Lee Walker died in her home in Seaford, Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998. She was 70.

Mrs. Walker was born Aug. 11, 1928, in Spencer, W.Va., the daughter of Mazie Miller Hensley Mahr of Seaford and the late Roscoe Hensley.

She had retired after working for 22 years as an admissions clerk at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alva Warren Walker, in January 1990.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by five children, John Warren Walker of Laurel, E. Jean Bailey of Georgetown, and Phillip Beauchamp, Phyllis Murphy and Nancy Myer, all of Bridgeville; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four brothers, Carl Mahr of Arnold, Md., Chris Mahr of North Olmsted, Ohio, and Bruce Mahr and Bill Mahr, both of Seaford; two sisters, Betty Bowdle of Federalsburg, Md., and Victoria Pfeifles of Georgetown; and several nieces and nephews.

Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Frampton-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home, Federalsburg, where friends may call two hours prior to the service.

Burial will follow in Bloomery Cemetery near Smithville.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Delaware Hospice Foundation, 600 N. DuPont Highway, Georgetown, DE 19947.

Hayward Lee Risper, 49

BRIDGEVILLE - Hayward Lee Risper of Bridgeville, died of cancer Friday, Sept. 25, 1998, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. He was 49.

Mr. Risper was born June 5, 1949, in Portsmouth, Va.

He was a safety manager at King Cole.

Mr. Risper was a member of Trinity Holiness Church, Frankford.

He is survived by his wife, Learonia Risper; a son, Hayward Risper Jr. of Bridgeville; two daughters, Aretha Lowther and Christine Risper, both of Bridgeville; three grandchildren; two brothers, Andrew Risper of Seaford and MacArthur Risper of Bridgeville; a sister, Corilee Short of Frankford; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Risper of Seaford and Joanne Lowther of Milton; and three brothers-in-law, David Lowther of Milton, Charlie Lowther of Roper, N.C., and Elder James Short of Frankford.

Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Holiness Church, Frankford.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Young's Funeral Home, 308 North Front St., Seaford.

Burial will be at Mount Calvary Church Cemetery, Middleford.

Florence Elliott Workman, 86

GREENWOOD - Florence Elliott Workman of Greenwood, died of pneumonia Friday, Oct. 9, 1998, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. She was 86.

Mrs. Workman was born in 1912, in Greenwood, the daughter of the late George Edward Elliott and Lola Evelyn Calloway.

She had been a cafeteria worker at Georgetown High School for 19 years, retiring in 1973.

Mrs. Workman had served as co-ordinator for Robin Hood Thrift Shop and had been a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Georgetown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence T. Workman in 1977.

She is survived by a son, BG Ret. C. Elliott Workman of Seaford; a brother, Clifford Elliott of Redden; and three grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church, 7 S. King Street in Georgetown, where the Rev. Pruitt-Barnett will officiate.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at the Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 N. Bedford Street in Georgetown.

Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Georgetown.

Hannah M. Bradley, 80

MILFORD - Hannah M. Bradley of Milford, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1998, in the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. She was 80.

Mrs. Bradley had been a sewing machine operator at the Shirt Factory in Harrington, retiring several years ago.

She enjoyed crocheting, needlework and painting. She also raised chihuahuas and basenji's.

Mrs. Bradley was a member of the Jehovah's Witness in Milford and a former member of the Mispillion Kennel Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles O. 'Tip' Bradley, in May, a son, Francis Bradley and a sister.

She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Stanton of Milford; a son, Vernon W. Bradley of Lincoln; her step-mother, Gertrude Conaway; two sisters, Sarah Elliott of Bridgeville and Shelby Swain of Lincoln; two brothers, Emerson Conaway of Bridgeville and William Conaway; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorial service will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Kingdom Hall Jehovah's Witness, Airport Road in Milford.

Burial will be private.

Phoebe H. Adams, 88

GEORGETOWN - Phoebe H. Adams of Georgetown, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998, in the Millsboro Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Millsboro. She was 88.

Mrs. Adams was born in Millsboro, the daughter of the late Levin J. and Orpha Rogers Parkers.

She had been a homemaker.

Mrs. Adams was a member of the Mount Olivet Brethren Church in Georgetown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac J. Adams, in 1971 three sons, John Adams, Clifton 'Dee' Adams and Howard 'Tuck' Adams, and a daughter, Connie Adams.

She is survived by three sons, Fred Adams of Dagsboro and Wilbert Adams and Martin Adams both of Georgetown; three daughters, Evelyn Parker and Ginny Verosko both of Georgetown and Sylvia Turner of Central, S.C.; 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington Street in Millsboro, where friends may call one hour prior to service. The Rev. Jerry Fike will officiate.

Burial will be in Cokesbury Church Cemetery, Georgetown.

Instead of flowers, the family suggest contributions be made to Mount Olivet Brethern Church, Rt. 1 Box 294, Georgetown, DE 19947 or to the Delaware Hospice, 600 DuPont Highway, Georgetown, DE 19947.

Coulter Ralph Joseph, 60

MILLSBORO - Coulter Ralph Joseph of Millsboro, and formerly of Wilmington and Cheltenham, England, died of heart failure Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was 60.

Mr. Joseph was born in Wilmington, the son of the late Ralph Franklin Joseph and Carlena Cloud Joseph.

He was a retired Machine Technician for ICI Fibers in Cheltenham.

Mr. Joseph had served with the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Reserve.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sylvia Joseph; three sons, Christopher of Bakersfield, Calif., Phillip of Wilmington and Robin of Millsboro; a daughter, Carlena Freccia of Hockessin; and four grandchildren, Elisabeth, Andrew, Casey and Michael.

Memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Long Neck Road and Delaware 24 in Long Neck.

Burial will be private.

Charles Allen Sudler, 51

DOVER - Charles Allen Sudler died of cancer Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998. He was 51

Mr. Sudler was born in Dover March 26, 1947, the son of the late Stanford and Ruth Helena Sudler.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War.

Mr. Sudler worked for City of Philadelphia Sanitation and the Philadelphia Water Department for more than 15 years. He later moved to Dover, where he worked for Pomerantz Staffing at Playtex Apparel.

He was an active member of Crispus Attucks Post 151, American Legion, for more than 25 years, and a past commander.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harrison Sudler and Nolan Sudler; and a sister, Martha Johnson.

He is survived by his companion, Maxine Spurell; six sons, Kevin Wade of North Carolina, and Charles Sudler Jr., Allen Sudler, Charles A. Sudler Jr., Matthew Sudler and Markus Sudler, all of Philadelphia; five daughters, Ariel Sudler, Charletta Sudler, Charlena Sudler, Linda Sudler and Charlesette Sudler, all of Philadelphia; a stepdaughter, Shinel Fuchell of Philadelphia; seven brothers, Ernest sudler of New Jersey, Stanford Sudler Jr. and Thoma Sudler, both of Philadelphia, Roy Sudler, Francis Sudler, John Sudler and Virgil Sulder, all of Dover; five sisters, Evelyn Sudler of North Carolina, Agnes Smith and Faith Lasidore, both of Philadelphia, and Ruth Sudler and Stephanie Roach, both of Dover; three grandchildren; an aunt, Hazel McCory of Mitchellville, Md.; in-laws, Gloria Sudler, Vicky Sudler, Diane Sudler, Marsha Dixon Sudler, Warner Roach Sr., Alphonso Lasidore and Emmanuel Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, 717 W. Division St., Dover, where friends may call two hours prior to the service.

Burial will be in Parker's Cemetery, Marydel.

James E. Silves, 67

DOVER - James E. Silves of Dover, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998, in his home. He was 67.

Mr. Silves was born Nov. 28, 1930, in Glenfield, N.Y., the son of the late Elsworth and Myrtle Hemphill Silves.

He was a veteran of World War II. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 24 years of service as an electronic technician, then worked for 16 years for Weatherly Yacht Co. and ManGar Marine in Smyrna as a marine mechanic, specializing in boat-motor repairs.

Mr. Silves enjoyed fishing and bowling.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Nancy Ann Kay Silves; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Cynthia M. Poore and Leroy Poore of Dover, Master Sgt. 1st Class Janice K. Silves of Lansing, Mich., and Nicolette P. Ortiz and Pedro Ortiz of Dover; two sons and a daughter-in-law, James W. Silves and Theresa Silves of Hartly and Kenneth Silves of Dover, along with Kenneth's fiancee, Cheryl Cooke of Dover; another daughter-in-law, Rita Silves of Dover; a brother, Richard Silves of Carson City, Nev.; 12 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call one hour before the service.

Burial will be 1:30 p.m. Monday in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.
