DOVER - Gladys V. Hughes of Dover died Monday, March 16, 1998, in Bayhealth Medical Center/Kent General Hospital. She was 86.
Mrs. Hughes was born in Porter, Okla., the daughter of the late Roland and Freddie Pitts Fay.
She was a graduate of the Manual Training High School.
Mrs. Hughes worked as a housekeeper for most of her adult life.
She was a long time active member of the Spencer Memorial Methodist Church, where she served on numerous committees throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, S. Leon Hughes Sr. , in 1984.
She is survived by two daughters, Freddie R. Gordon of Dover, and Tenita L. Moss of Tulsa, Okla.; one son, S. Leon Hughes Jr. of Charlotte, N.C.; 10 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Granger Funeral Home, 812 Emporia St., Muskogee, Okla.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State St., Dover.
Burial will be in the Booker T. Washington Cemetery, Muskogee, Okla.
Ethel May Steward, 89
CLAYTON - Ethel May Steward of Clayton, formerly of Wilmington and Millsboro, died Saturday, Oct. 3, 1998, in Courtland Manor, Dover. She was 89.
Mrs. Steward worked as a licensed practical nurse at the former Wilmington General Hospital for 15 years, retiring in 1972.
She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Smyrna.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert W. Steward, in 1965.
She is survived by a son, Norman W. Steward of Clayton; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at McCrery Memorial Chapel, Kirkwood Highway and Duncan Road, Marshallton, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Asbury United Methodist Church, Smyrna.
Theron Cramer, 60
WYOMING - Theron Cramer of Wyoming, formerly of Buckingham, Pa., died Sunday, March 15, 1998, in Bayhealth Medical Center/Kent General Hospital, Bayhealth, Dover. He was 60.
Mr. Cramer was the son of the late Nellie Luckey and Joseph Cramer.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Cramer moved to Wyoming 18 months ago.
He retired from American Electronics in Pennsylvania , where he was employed as a mechanic technician.
Mr. Cramer was a member of the American Motorcycle Association.
He was preceded in death by a brother, George Cramer of Ottsville, Pa.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Cramer; two sons, James Cramer of Brownsville, Pa., and Boyd Cramer of Philadelphia; a daughter, Cynthia Messick of Bensalem, Pa.; a brother, Floyd Cramer of Quakertown, Pa.; two sisters, Crissie Lasseter of Palmdale, Calif., and Charlotte Moore of Newtown, Pa.; and seven grandchilldren.
Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may call two hours prior to the service.
Burial will be private.
Leslie L. White, 75
SMYRNA - Leslie L. White of Smyrna died of pneumonia, Saturday, March 14, 1998, in Kent General Hospital. He was 75.
Mr. White was born in 1922, in Carlock, Ill., son of the late Leslie E. and Nellie White.
He worked for the Civil Service at the Dover Air Force Base for 32 years as a plane fueler.
Mr. White was World War II Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Oleta A. White of Smyrna; a son, Robert Trout of Texas; a daughter, Kim J. Bessix of Smyrna; two brothers, Roger White of Colorado, and Theodore White of Illinois; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. today in the Delaware Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Bear.

John Wesley Scotton, 82
SEAFORD - John Wesley Scotton of Seaford died from the effects of progressive supranuclear palsy, Monday, March 16, 1998, in the Methodist Manor House. He was 82.
Mr. Scotton was born in Hartly, and raised in Easton, Md.
He was a 1936 graduate of the University of Delaware with Masters Degree from New York University. He was an early meteorologist in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Scotton served four years in the Army Air Corps, Navy, and Marines, then he became a full colonel.
A career in former U.S. Weather Bureau and areas of private industry resulted in his becoming a (1970) Charter Member of the Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, D.C. He remained a dedicated expert on air and water pollution, plus nuclear fallout. After moving to Yarmouth Port, Mass., in 1977, Mr. Scotton, a physical scientist, became advisor to various towns uneasy about their own environment.
Mr. Scotton was a tireless student of our universe; an active church member; a community activist, and an avid gardener.
He is survived by is wife, Carolyn Disbrow Scotton; a son, David C. Scotton of Washington; a daughter, Pamela S. Liebig of Chandler, Ariz.; a brother, Paul of Dover; three sisters, Mary Scotton, Emma Roe and Hazel Chapin, all of Seaford, and one grandson, Zachery Liebig.
A memorial service will be held March 29 at the Methodist Manor House.

Bernice K. Crowley
WILMINGTON - Bernice K. Crowley of Holly Oak, Wilmington, died Monday, Oct. 5, 1998, of congestive heart failure in Hillside Center, Wilmington.
Mrs. Crowley was a lifelong resident of the Wilmington area who enjoyed being a homemaker for her husband and family.
She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Joseph E. Crowley; a son, Dennis E. Crowley of Dover; a daughter, Deanna M. Robinson of New Castle; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 3400 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont.
Friends may call one and one-half hours prior to the service at Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont.

MILLSBORO - Anna Hennaha of Millsboro died of heart failure, Saturday, March 14, 1998, in her home. She was 82.
Ms. Hennaha was born in 1915, in Millsboro.
She was an LPN at the Beebe Medical Center in Lewes for 20 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Peggy S. Bowman of Lewes; three grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

DOVER - Clara Argoe Willms of Dover died Monday March 16, 1998, in Yoder's Care Center in Milford. She was 86.
Mrs. Willms was born in 1911, in Milford, the daughter of the late Harry L. and Cora E. Prettyman.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Willms was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Dover.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Paul J. Willms; a daughter, Mary Stafne of Cookeville, Tenn.; a half-brother, James Saunderson of Milford and two grandsons, Michael A. Stafne of Blacksburg, Va., and Mark W. Stafne of Nashville, Tenn.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Torbert Funeral Chapel, Bradford and Reed streets, Dover, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Dover.

Miles P. Jones Sr., 79
TOWNSEND - Miles P. Jones Sr. of Townsend died Tuesday, March 17, 1998, in Christiana Hospital. He was 79.
Mr. Jones was a truck driver with Anchor Motor Freight Co. for over 40 years, retiring in 1983.
He was a member of the Million Mile Club, driving over a million miles accident-free, and also the Teamsters Local 326. He was also a member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church in Townsend.
Mr. Jones was a gentleman farmer in his spare time, raising beef cattle and farming grain on his farm near Townsend.
He is survived by his wife, Mabel N. Jones; three sons, Miles Jr., Ike and Jeffery M., all of Townsend; one daughter, Phyllis D. Jones of Townsend; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, at the Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, Main Street, Townsend, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in the Townsend Cemetery.

The Acquaviva family invites our friends and loved ones to attend the memorial service for our son and brother on Saturday, March 21, 1998 at 2 p.m. at Avenue Methodist Church on Church Street, Milford. The family request no flowers at this service and appreciates your attendance.
Michael C. Acquaviva was born on April 5, 1958, in Limestone, Maine; and took his own life at the home of our family in Milford on Feb. 26, 1998. He was a member of the Avenue Church Choir and the First State Harmonizers barbershop singing group. He was also an avid fan of American aviation as well as NASCAR racing's Dale Earnhardt.
