James W. 'Barney' Davis, 74

SEAFORD - James W. 'Barney' Davis of Seaford died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1998, in his home. He was 74.

Mr. Davis was born in Delmar, Md., the son of the late Olen Davis and Irene Davis.

He was an Air Force veteran.

He worked as a supervisor for E.I. DuPont Company for 42 years, retiring in 1983.

Mr. Davis was a member of Seaford Golf & Country Club in Seaford, and a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Seaford.

He was preceded in death by a sister.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette B. Davis of Seaford; a son, Daniel O. Davis of Hilton Head, S.C.; three daughters, Vicki Cool of Salisbury, Md., Donna German of Joppatown, Md., and Bev Martin of Lincoln, Neb.; a brother, George Davis of Delmar; a sister, Jean Wright of Lithonia, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John's United Methodist Church in Seaford, where the Rev. David Humphrey will officiate.

Burial will be in St. Stephens Cemetery, Delmar.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the Delaware Hospice, Southern Division, 600 DuPont Hwy., Georgetown, DE 19947; or to the St. Johns U.M. Church, P.O. Box 299, Seaford, DE 19973.

Leonard E. 'Lenny' DiBacco Sr., 67

LEWES - Leonard E. 'Lenny' DiBacco Sr. of Lewes died Monday, Sept. 7, 1998, in Beebe Medical Center. He was 67.

Mr. DiBacco was born in 1930 in Philadelphia, the son of the late Eligah D. DiBacco and Palma Tuffano DiBacco.

He served in the U.S. Army.

Mr. DiBacco worked as a ticket agent and loading supervisor for Eastern Air Lines at the Philadelphia Airport for 33 years, retiring in 1985.

He then worked as a technician in the meter division for the city of Rehoboth Beach, for 11 years.

Mr. DiBacco served as a volunteer for the Rehoboth Aid Society.

He is survived by his wife, Naomi B. 'Lea' DiBacco of Lewes; a daughter, Pamela A. Kephart of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a son, Leonard E. DiBacco Jr. of Greenville, Texas; a stepdaughter, Dawn E. Harvey of San Jose, Calif.; a sister, Rose Marie Mansfield of Carney Point, N.J.; a brother, William DiBacco of Lawrenceville, Ga.; and five granddaughters.

Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.

Burial will be private.

Helena Dodd Carmine, 88

MILLSBORO - Helena Dodd Carmine of Millsboro died of heart failure Sunday, Sept. 6, 1998, in the Lewes Convalescent Center. She was 88.

Mrs. Carmine was born in Millsboro, the daughter of the late George H. Dodd and Ethel Derrickson Dodd.

She and her husband owned and operated Helena's Florist in Millsboro, for many years.

The Dodd family were early pioneer settlers in the Millsboro area.

They operated a movie theater, dance hall, beauty salon, restaurant and millinery shop.

The family also hosted many theater productions in what was then known as the Dodd Building.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Carmine, in 1974.

She is survived by two sons, F. Terry Carmine of Lewes, and W. Bruce Carmine of Millsboro; a brother, George A. Dodd of Millsboro; a sister, Anna Goslee of West Palm Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Service will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of Melson Funeral Services in Long Neck, where friends may call one hour prior to service.

Burial will be in Millsboro Cemetery, Millsboro.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the Carmine Environmental Center, RR 2, Box 161, Lewes, DE 19958.

Daisy Daniels Lee, 42

DOVER - Daisy Daniels Lee of Dover died Monday, Sept. 7, 1998, in Kent General Hospital. She was 42.

Mrs. Lee was born in 1956.

She is survived by her mother, Syleethia Smith of Dover; a daughter, Tara Jones and her husband, Darryl, both of Milford; a granddaughter, Ashley Daniels; a sister, Dianne Custis and her husband, Thomas; a niece, Pam Lusk; two grand-nephews, Quinton Friend and Tyrail Friend; and a host of friends.

Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Bennie Smith Funeral Home in Dover, where friends may call two hours prior to service.

Norma E. Trimble Simmons Lehn, 80

LEWES - Norma E. Trimble Simmons Lehn of Lewes died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1998, in Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 80.

Mrs. Lehn was born in 1918, in Lancaster, Pa.

She was a retired secretary and bookkeeper for Coopers Tobacco Co.

Mrs. Lehn was a member of the Church of Christ in Lancaster.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Vernon Lehn, in 1979.

She is survived by a son, William A. Simmons of Georgetown; two stepsons, Jay Lehn of Tempe, Ariz., and Robert Lehn of Lancaster; six stepdaughters, Dorothy Lehn and Jacqueline MacKenzie, both of Lititz, Pa., Patricia Ulrich of Paradise, Pa., Kathryn Ream of Lancaster, Gerry Zeljeanzak of Virginia Beach, Va., and Melinda Hartsoughs of Landisville, Pa.; a sister, Ann Johnson of Willow Street, Pa.; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; 26 step-grandchildren and 37 step-great grandchildren.

Service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Kearney A. Snynder Funeral Home in Lancaster, where friends may call one hour prior to service.

Burial will be in Machpelah Cemetery, Lititz.

Paul Arthur Howard Jr., 56

SEAFORD - Paul Arthur Howard Jr. of Seaford died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1998, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. He was 56.

Mr. Howard was born in Milford, the son of the late Paul Arthur Howard Sr. and Doris Gloria Dolphin Howard.

He was a rural mail carrier for 35 years, retiring in 1997.

Mr. Howard was a member of the Nanticoke Sportsmans Club, a member of the Mason-Dixon Woodworking Club, a member of the Shore Seekers Metal Detective Club, and a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Seaford, where he served as the head usher at the early service.

He was preceded in death by a son, Army Pvt. John Lee Howard, in 1986.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine Bailey Howard of Seaford; a daughter, Nancy M. Howard of Seaford; and a grandson, Michael A. Passwaters at home.

Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at St. John's U.M. Church, Pine and Poplar streets, Seaford, where friends may call one hour prior to service.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Seaford.

Patricia 'Tricia' Joan Pulliam Shillingburg, 67

SALT LAKE CITY - Patricia 'Tricia' Joan Pulliam Shillingburg of Salt Lake City died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1998. She was 67.

Mrs. Shillingburg was born in 1931, in Bayonne, N.J., the daughter of the late Walter G. Stanton and Ethel Virginia Stanton.

She had a career in medical record administration at hospitals in both Maryland and Delaware.

She represented the medical records associations of both states.

Mrs. Shillingburg was called upon by the government to assist in the training of medical records professionals in the Northeast and Midwest regions, when the health care industry began the ICD-9 coding system for diagnoses.

She devoted her time to art, her true love, upon retirement.

She was an accomplished artist in canvas and decorative art.

Mrs. Shillingburg sold her art on the east coast in several fine shops.

She also taught art in the Milford, Del., community and through private lessons.

Mrs. Shillingburg was a member of the Decorative Art Association.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Edward Shillingburg.

She is survived by two daughters, Karol Knoop and her husband, Bob, both of Salt Lake City, and Linda Edwards and her husband, John, both of California, Md.; and three grandchildren who were the light of her life, Jason, Regan and Patrick.

Memorial service will be planned in Milford, at a time to be announced.

In memory of Patricia Joan Pulliam Shillingburg, the family suggests that contributions be made toward cancer research.

Joseph F. 'Chuck' Winiesdorffer, 75

WOODBRIDGE, Va. - Joseph F. 'Chuck' Winiesdorffer of Woodbridge died Thursday, Sept. 10, 1998, in his home. He was 75.

Mr. Winiesdorffer served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a past commander of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 8 in Rehoboth Beach, Del.

Mr. Winiesdorffer was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, a member of the Rehoboth Beach Lions Club, and a member of the Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge 2540.

He was preceded in death by a son, Frederick Winiesdorffer.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa J. Winiesdorffer of Woodbridge; three daughters, Frances Dillard of Dale City, Martha Wuethrich and Mary Padgett, both of Fredericksburg; three sons, Paul Winiesdorffer of Woodbridge, Joseph Winiesdorffer of Fredericksburg, and Andrew Winiesdorffer of Stafford; a sister, Clara Rose Mahoney of Wheeling, W. Va.; a brother, John Winiesdorffer of Wheeling; and 17 grandchildren.

Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Mountcastle Funeral Home in Woodbridge, where friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Sunday.

Christian Wake service will be 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Quantico National Cemetery.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the Hospice of Northern Virginia, 4715 N. 15th St., Arlington, VA 22205.

John Ward Breasure, 86

GEORGETOWN - John Ward Breasure of Georgetown died Thursday, Sept. 10, 1998, in Harrison House. He was 86.

Mr. Breasure was born in 1912, in Georgetown, the son of the late Hervey Breasure and Sarah Lovey Breasure.

He was an agricultural farmer and poultry grower all his life.

He farmed his own farm in Georgetown.

He also drove a school bus for John Pepper in Georgetown for 19 years.

Mr. Breasure was a member of the Cemetery Committee of Asbury United Methodist Church, and a former member of the Board of Trustees of Asbury U.M. Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Effie Mae Breasure, in 1998; and a daughter, Sara Breasure, in 1998.

He is survived by three daughters, Margaret 'Peggy' Breasure and Joan Breasure, both of Georgetown, and Joyce Breasure of Wyoming; a brother, Wilson Breasure of Seaford; a half-sister, Grace O'Neal of Seaford; and a son-in-law, Dan Herrick of Wyoming.

Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 N. Bedford St., Georgetown, where friends may call two hours prior to service.

Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Georgetown.

In memory of John Ward Breasure, the family suggests that contributions be made to Asbury United Methodist Church, Route 2, Georgetown, DE 19947.

Paul A. Peterson, 91

HARRINGTON - Paul A. Peterson of Harrington died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1998, in Bayhealth Medical Center-Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 91.

Mr. Peterson was an electrician for the International Latex Co. (ILC) in Frederica, for 25 years, retiring in 1972.

Mr. Peterson was a member of the Harrington Senior Center, and a lifetime member of Robbins Hose Co. of Dover.

He is survived by his wife, Frances T. Peterson of Harrington; a daughter, Phyllis I. Callahan of Middleburg, Fla.; two half-brothers, Harland Peterson of Camden and Robert Peterson of Frederica; three grandsons and three great-grandchildren.

Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at McKnatt Funeral Home in Harrington, where friends may call one hour prior to service.

Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 625 S. State St., Dover, DE 19901.
