Estella B. Clifton, 83

LEWES - Estella B. Clifton of Lewes, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999, in Harbor Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center. She was 83.

Mrs. Clifton was born on March 9, 1915 in Lewes, the daughter of the late Harvey Baker and Lillie K. Lowe Baker.

She was an accountant; she formerly owned and operated with her husband Clifton's News Stand for 25 years until it burned in the great fire of Lewes.

Mrs. Clifton was a member of the Soroptomist Club and a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church, 4th and Market, Lewes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William P. Clifton, in 1979.

She is survived by a nephew, Fred Clifton of Lewes, a sister-in-law, Mabel Clifton of Bridgeville; and three cousins, William E. Lowe of Lewes, Lucy B. Durant of Lawton, Okla., and Jean L. Geary of Edgemont, Pa.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. in Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Lewes. The Rev. Charles Moyer will officiate.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Bethel United Methodist Church, West 4th Street, Lewes, DE 19958 or the American Heart Association, 600 North DuPont Highway, Georgetown, DE 19947.

Thomas M. Platt III, 21

CHADDS FORD, Pa. - Thomas M. Platt III of Chadds Ford, died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, in his home. He was 21.

Mr. Platt was a self employed cable technician.

He is survived by his parents, Thomas M. Platt Jr. of Chester and Deborah Yeatman of Newark, Del.; his maternal grandparents, Vince Bartholf of Chadds Ford and June Cole of Farmington, Del.; a brother, Jason Yeatman, and a half sister, Amanda Platt of Chester.

Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Faries Funeral Home, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Port Penn, Del.

Walter 'Izzy' Ronald Isaac Sr., 52

MADISON, Md. - Walter ''Izzy'' Ronald Isaac of Madison, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 1999, at his daughter's home, Centreville. He was 52.

Mr. Isaac was born July 30, 1946 in Baltimore, the son of the late Walter and Dorothy Isaac.

He graduated from Glen Burnie High School, the class of 1965.

Mr. Isaac began his career with the Anne Arundel Fire Co. volunteer when he was 16. He worked full time in Lithicuim for Company 32. He retired after 30 years of service to the community, he than pursued a career as a waterman on the ''Carrie Ellen'' as 1st Mate. He worked for High Tech Plastic in Cambridge in 1997.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Cambridge.

He is survived by two sons, Walter Ronald Isaac Jr. of Hanover and Travis Hobert Isaac of Pasadena; three daughters. Lisa E. Konrad of Centreville, Heather May Isaac of Glen Burnie and Melody Kriewald of Pasadena; and four grandchildren.

Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, Centreville, where friends may call 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Burial will be in Gethsemane Churchyard, Cambridge, Maryland.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice of Queen Anne's Inc., 300 Del Rhodes Avenue, Queenstown, MD 21658-1365.

J. Raughley Wyatt, 78

DENTON, Md. - J. Raughley Wyatt of Denton, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 1999, in University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore. He was 78.

Mr. Wyatt was born in Caroline County, the son of the late Thomas H. Wyatt and Hester L. Raughley Wyatt.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II

He was a farmer and also worked as a welder for E.I. DuPont, Seaford, Del., retiring in 1976 after 37 years.

Mr. Wyatt was a member of the Greensboro VFW Memorial Post 7937 and the Caroline American Legion Post 29.

He is survived by a brother, W. Burnley Wyatt of Federalsburg; a sister, Marianne W. Schaub of Salisbury; and six nieces and nephews.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Moore Funeral Home, 12 S. Second St., Denton, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Denton Cemetery.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Caroline County Humane Society P.O. Box 4, Denton, MD 21629.

Florence Elizabeth Cannon, 83

GREENWOOD - Florence Elizabeth Cannon of Greenwood, formerly of Media, Pa., died Friday, Jan, 29, 1999, in Country Rest Home, Greenwood. She was 83.

Mrs. Cannon was born on May 14, 1915, in Greenwood, Del., the daughter of Leonard and Mary O'bier Zott.

She grew up in Delaware, graduating from Greenwood High School in 1933.

She was the kind of person who wanted things in order. In her later years she enjoyed traveling with her husband and moved back to Greenwood in 1995.

Mrs. Cannon was an active member of The First United Methodist Church of Media, and of the Women's Circle. She volunteered her time with the Red Cross and Meals on Wheels in Media.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Wilson ''Bill'' Cannon; a son, Glenn Cannon and his wife Jean of Lancaster, Pa.; two grandchildren, Seth and Elyse Cannon; and a niece, Vicki Bruno of New Castle.

Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fleischauer Funeral Home, 48 W. Market St., Greenwood, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.

Gloria R. Covinton, 66

CLAYTON - Gloria R. Covington of Clayton, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, in her home. She was 66.

Mrs. Covington was born on October 29, 1932, in Dover, the daughter of the late Raymond and Melfa Marker Wright.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Covinton was preceded in death by three sons, Edwin Covington Jr. in 1955, baby boy Covington in 1956, and William ''Billy'' Covington in 1976.

She is survived by her husband, Edwin P. Covington; three daughters, Karen Ward of Dover, Shirley Hudson of Peach Bottom, Pa., and Patty Covington of Dover; two granddaughters, Khristey Hudson of Peach Bottom, Pa., and Jennifer Biddle of Dover and three grandsons, Briin and Justin Hudson, both of Peach Bottom, and Kevin Ward of Dover.

Service and burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Compassionate Care Hospice, 256 Chapman Road, Suite 101-A, Newark, DE 19720.

Gladys W. Schirmer, 79

GEORGETOWN - Gladys W. Schirmer of rural Georgetown, formerly of Milton, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, in her home. She was 79.

Mrs. Schirmer was born in Milton, the daughter of the late Joseph S. and Lillian Nailor Wells.

She was a homemaker, and enjoyed her family.

Mrs. Schirmer was a member of the Holiday Ramblers and the Easter Shore Sea Gulls camping clubs. She also attended the Wesley U.M. Church in Georgetown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold A. ''Pappy'' Schirmer, in 1986; a great-granddaughter, Megan Schirmer, in 1986; and a sister, Ethel Hudson, in 1939.

She is survived by three sons, L. Wayne Schirmer of Jacksonville, Fla., Carl J. Schirmer Sr. of Milton and Dennis A. Schirmer of Georgetown; three daughters, Josephine S. Massey of Georgetown, Nancy S. Williamson of Millsboro and Debra S. Weaver of Georgetown; two brothers, J. Nailor Wells of Goldsboro, Md., and J. Carlton Wells of Milton; a sister, Madalene W. Moore of Harrington; 22 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Shorts Funeral Services, Federal Street, Milton, where friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milton.

Bert Edward O'Leary, 86

DOVER - Bert Edward O'Leary of Dover, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, in Country Rest Home, Greenwood. He was 86.

Mr. O'Leary was born on July 23, 1912, in Lima, Ohio, the son of the late Cory and Beretha Abbott O'Leary.

He was a foreman for Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton Corporation in Ohio with over 30 years of services.

Mr. O'Leary was a member of the First Baptist Church, Modern Maturity Center and a volunteer with the Agricultural Museum, moving to Dover in 1978.

He was preceded in death by his wife Grace Loescher in 1985.

He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Harmon, and her husband, Janson, of Dover, and two grandchildren, Jeffrey and Deborah Harmon of Dover.

Service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Walker Road, Dover, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Dover.

Patricia Phyllis Griffith, 66

HARRINGTON - Patricia Phyllis Griffith died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, in her home. She was 66.

Mrs. Griffith was born in Harrington, Del., the daughter of the late Carl Pearson and Lillian Pearson.

She was a graduate of Harrington High School and Goldey-Beacom College.

Mrs. Griffith worked as a secretary for Grover Brown as well as John McDowell, former Secretary of the State of Delaware, and also as a real estate agent.

She loved to cross-stitch, paint and travel. She will be remembered as a very special and beautiful person who was thought of well by many people and as an inspiration to all that knew her. She loved her family and the Lord and led many people to the Lord through her devotion.

Mrs. Griffith was a member of Calvary Wesleyan Church of Harrington.

She is survived by her husband of over 46 years, William S. Griffith of Harrington; a son, William M. Griffith of Boca Raton, Fla.; a daughter, Patricia M. Vaughn of Harrington and seven grandchildren.

Service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Highway, Harrington. Pastors Tim Isley and Ted Woods will officiate.

Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.

Francis P. 'Frank' Sherer, 83

MILFORD - Francis P. ''Frank'' Sherer of Milford died of heart failure Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999, in Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 83.

Mr. Sherer was a chief warrant officer in the United States Navy before retiring in 1960 after 30 years of service.

He owned and operated the Rental Hub in Santee, Calif., for many years and moved to Milford in 1990.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia D. Sherer, in 1973; and a daughter, Jacqueline Ann Sherer, in 1952.

He is survived by two sons, Richard R. Sherer, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, and Robert Sherer of San Diego, Calif.; a daughter, Mary L. Olthoff of Wildomar, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Seabury Avenue and School Place, Milford.

Burial will be with military honors in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.
