Virginia P. Taylor, 61

LEWES - Virginia P. Taylor of Lewes died Friday, Sept. 11, 1998, in Beebe Medical Center. She was 61.

Ms. Taylor was born in 1937, in Lewes, the daughter of the late David Franklin and Sadie Mae Taylor.

She is survived by four sisters, Blanche Slater and Pauline Stevenson, both of Lewes, Minale Hitchens of Angola and Bertha Littleton of Milton; and two brothers, James Taylor and Edgar Taylor, both of Lewes.

Service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 1449 Kings Highway in Lewes, where friends may call one hour prior to service. The Rev. Randy Booth will officiate.

Burial will be in Bethel United Methodist Cemetery, Lewes.

Robert L. Yost, 80

LEWES - Robert L. Yost of Lewes died Saturday, Sept. 12, 1998, in Beebe Medical Center. He was 80.

Mr. Yost was born in 1918, in Schuylkill Haven, Pa.

He had been a port engineer for the Pilots Association for the Bay & River Delaware, retiring in 1983 after 37 years.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. Yost had been a member of the Phoenix Masonic Lodge 75, the American Legion-Berry Post 173 Tamaqua, Pa., and the Lewes Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Anne C. Yost of Lewes; a daughter, Patricia MacIntire of Lewes; a son, Robert David Yost of Bryn Mawr, Pa.; a sister, Elva Seip of Tamaqua, Pa.; a brother, The Rev. Israel Yost of Frederick, Md.; and six granddaughters.

Service and burial will be private.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Lewes Fire Department, 347 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958 or to the Lewes Presbyterian Church, Kings Highway, Lewes, DE 19958.

Rhoda Elizabeth Rhodes, 91

MILLSBORO - Rhoda Elizabeth Rhodes of Millsboro died of respiratory failure Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998, in her home. She was 91.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen L. Rhodes, in 1964.

She is survived by two sons, William E. Rhodes of Cambridge, Md., and W. Robert Rhodes of Hutcheson, Kansas; two daughters, R. Jean Ramsey of Millsboro and Joyce Brooks of Millersville, Md.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.

Arrangements by McKnatt Funeral Home, Harrington.

Uhland H. Johnson Sr., 83

GREENWOOD - Uhland H. Johnson Sr. of Greenwood died of cancer Saturday, Sept. 12, 1998, in The Country Rest Home, Greenwood. He was 83.

Mr. Johnson was born Nov. 6, 1914, in Lewes, the son of the late Harry and Lydi Johnson.

He was a truck driver for American Original for 18 years, retiring in 1989.

Mr. Johnson was a member of the Delaware National Guards, Hickory Ridge Church and Harrington Moose Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his previous wife, Alice Johnson, in 1992.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia Peterman; two sons, Donald L. Johnson and his wife, Pat, of Lincoln and Uhland H. Johnson Jr. and his wife, Connie, of Milton; a daughter, Dottie Dukes and her husband, Dale, of Laurel; a step-son, Roy L. Peterman and his wife, Sarah, of Greenwood; two step-daughters, Myrtle White and her husband, Kenneth, and Margaret Carey and her husband, Norman, all of Delmar; a sister, Dot Adams and her husband, Roscoe, of Georgetown; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, 10 step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hickory Ridge Church, 1 mile north of Greenwood on the north bound side of Route 13, where friends may call one hour prior to service.

Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Fleischauer Funeral Home, Greenwood.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mildred V. Saddler, 75

DOVER - Mildred V. Saddler died Friday, Sept. 11, 1998, in Kent General Hospital. She was 75.

Ms. Saddler was born Aug. 23, 1923, in Camden, daughter of the late Alexander Harris and the late Elizabeth Harris Cale.

She attended Booker T. Washington School and Delaware State College.

She worked at Quality Inn Motel, Emily Morris Day Care.

Ms. Saddler became a foster grandparent at East Elementary before her illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard W. Saddler, and a brother, William Harris of Dover.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Sharon Scott of Dover; a daughter and son-in-law, Yvonne and Samuel Greene of Pawleys Is., S.C.; six sisters, Eva Bostic of Dover, Alberta Scott of Woodside, Anna Evans of Smyrna, Helen Gibson of Dover, Dorothy Cale of Germany and Frances Lewis of Dover; a brother, Joseph Harris of Dover; two brothers-in-law, Lester Scott of Woodside and David Lewis of Dover; six grandchildren, an adopted grandchild and seven great-grandchildren.

Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, where friends may call two hours prior to service.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Mabel E. Warren Reed, 81

DOVER - Mabel E. Warren Reed of Dover died Saturday, Sept. 12, 1998, in Bayhealth, Kent General Hospital. She was 81.

Ms. Reed was a homemaker.

From 1954 until 1996, she had lived in Gainsville, Fla. In 1996 she moved back to Delaware to be closer to her family.

Ms. Reed was a member of the North Central Baptist Church, Gainsville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Reed; a daughter, Dorothy Miller, two brothers, Edward and Lester Warren and two sisters, Myrtle Long and May Powell.

She is survived by a son, Ronald L. Reed of Harrington; a daughter, Darlene Brown of Gainsville; a brother, Nelson Warren of Greenwood; two sisters, Virginia 'Polly' Dixon and Gladys Anderson, both of Dover; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Thursday in the Evergreen Cemetery, Gainsville, Fla.

Service will be 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may call after 6 p.m.

Virginia P. Taylor, 61

LEWES - Virginia P. Taylor of Lewes died Friday, Sept. 11, 1998, in Beebe Medical Center. She was 61.

Ms. Taylor was born July 11, 1937, in Lewes.

She is survived by her father, David Franklin Taylor; four sisters, Blanche Slater and Pauline Stevenson, both of Lewes, Minnie Hitchens of Angola and Bertha Littleson of Milton; and two brothers, James Taylor and Edgar Taylor, both of Lewes.

Thiel D. 'Pete' Feller, 74

MILFORD - Thiel D. 'Pete' Feller of Milford died Friday, Sept. 11, 1998, at Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 74.

He was a member of Moose Lodge 2316 in Milford and formerly a member of the Harrington Moose Lodge, and also was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons. He liked to garden and enjoyed the outdoors in general, particularly walking on the beaches.

Mr. Feller was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Feller.

He is survived by a companion of 20 years, Betty Thompson of Milford; two sons, Bruce Feller and Jeff Feller, both of the Pocono Mountains area of Pennsylvania; a daughter, Donna Strunk, also of the Poconos area; four brothers, Kermit Feller, Scott Feller, Jim Thorp and Dale Feller, also of the Poconos area; a sister, Virgie Christman, also of the Poconos area; four grandchildren, also of the Poconos area; and two great-grandchildren, also of the Poconos area.

Service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Chapel of Berry Short Funeral home, 119 N.W. Front St., Milford, where friends may call one hour before the service.

Burial will be in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.

Almeta Mae Dorman, 86

LEWES - Almeta Mae Dorman of rural Lewes died at her home Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998, of heart failure. She was 86.

Mrs. Dorman was born in Angola, the daughter of the late John O. Davidson and Anna Mae Dodd Davidson. She was a graduate of Lewes High School, class of 1930. She was a homemaker and a licensed practical nurse in the Lewes-Rehoboth Beach area, and a member of Conley's United Methodist Church near Angola.

Mrs. Dorman was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton Dorman, in 1976.

She is survived by two sons, Raymond Dorman and Carlton O. Dorman, both of Angola; two daughters, Ann Hedley of Angola and Janet Hall of Quakertown; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Long Neck Road and Del. 24, Long Neck, where friends may call at 1 p.m. The Rev. Randy Booth will officiate.

Burial will be in the Conley's Chapel Cemetery.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Deborah Hospital, Sussex County Chapter, c/o Agnes Cogar, R.D. 1, Box 24A, Dagsboro, DE 19939; or to Conley's Chapel U.M. Church.

Ruth F. Funfrock, 86

LINCOLN - Ruth F. Funfrock of Lincoln, formerly of Elmira, N.Y., died Monday, Sept. 14, 1998, at her daughter's home in Lincoln. She was 86.

Mrs. Funfrock moved to Lincoln from Elmira five years ago to live with her daughter. She worked in the Audit Department for the Marine Midland Bank in Elmira for 19 years, retiring in 1976. She was past Madam President of the Order of Eagles chapter in Elmira. She was a member of the Lake Street Presbyterian Church in Elmira and attended the Reformation Lutheran Church in Milford.

Mrs. Funfrock was preceded in death by her husband, Edward A., in 1953.

She is survived by a daughter, Beverly J. Crane of Lincoln; a brother, Albert E. Martz of Punxsutawney, Pa.; two sisters, Grace C. Lowery of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Frances Echerd of Scottdale, Pa.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave., Milford, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Elmira.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, Sussex County, 600 N. DuPont Highway, Georgetown, DE 19947.
